I have the exact same Crestliner! My grandpa bought it brand new in '57 and it's been in the family ever since. My mom and her siblings grew up learning to boat in it hear in central MN. When I was like 12, the boat was kinda living leaned up behind the garage of my grandmas cabin. I was able to purchase it from her for the low price of raking the cabin's yard that fall(about 4 hours of work). I helped my dad fix it up, as well as a trailer for it. Then we picked up a 70's 18 horse Johnson for 20 bucks and rebuilt it. Present day it still has the camo paint job from when I used it to duck hunt in high school. In high school I had also kind of turned it into a mini bass boat. I added casting platforms across the bench's with storage compartments. 17 years later and I still have it, and I absolutely love it!

The Azimuth pods were my only suggestion. Ditch the rudders and have a boat that is way more maneuverable. They are probably mounted at the best spot for optimum use. Nice boat. It looks gorgeous and has some cool technology in it. I think that the top speed that you mentioned is about all that you can expect because of the hull speed of the boat which is about 4 knots (5 mph) with or without changing propellers. I noticed you alluded to the amp draw going up a lot with only a modest increase in speed above 4 mph. Thanks for sharing. Smooth sailing.

Peter was smart in stripping that old bottom paint, if he painted over it it would lead to problems down the line. I had to strip bottom paint off a 45 foot boat which took a week. Not a fun experience, but well worth it.

I owned this exact year and model of boat ten years ago! Only I took the hood off to make room for a casting deck I could fish off of.
The trolling motors will be fine, they are made to be under water for hours at a time. Just remove the prop and checking for fishing line as it can eat away at the O ring and ruin the armature.
I’d definitely check into getting a boating license, since it’s electric I’m not sure if it’s needed, but most states require you take a course.

Pete, the only way this scaled down model boat is gonna float in the Gulf Of Mexico is under zero stress from the wind (very unlikely) and more importantly, very little wave activity (it's a GULF, good luck!).
My experience shooting boats and jet skis in the Bay area reveals your best bet is at Yucky Beach, a breathtaking spot for filming and shooting water sports from a surprisingly basic location. Problem is, many people get stuck there when they either drop off their boats or try load them up on their trailers.
You see, Yucky Beach is muddy and not a place for newbies to try their skills at guiding a boat trailer into the chasm that is the Atlantic Ocean. My wife Elizabeth hates Yucky Beach because she Jack Knifed our truck & trailer when we got stuck in Tampa Bay mud @ Yucky Beach. I love Yucky Beach because it's provided the most incredible photos of my family I'll cherish for the rest of my God given life.
Pete, seeing how the water in the Tampa Bay area is now toxic, maybe an awesome, easy access water way would produce a better visual output? I know a spot 45 minutes North of Tampa that's picturesque, completely free and on most days, 100% vacant!

A boat like this would look great here along the rivers in England or in a city like Venice. This is definitely the way to go. Shame on the high end boat companies for not doing it themselves sooner.

      Nope...
Unfortunately, the numbers don't work out.
Those trolling motors appear to use a 24 volt power supply, based on the configuration of the batteries shown in the video.
      24 volts x 30 amperes = 720 watts
The current drawn from the motors at the more efficient speed exceed the output of the solar panels.
I estimate space for a maximum of 200 watts worth of solar panels.

You might want to look into ways to improve prop efficiency. Generally boat efficiency drops with speed a ton. That's why cargo ships go a steady slow speed. With solar power, efficiently transferring power from the propeller to the water will be essential. Possibly some ducts around the propellers would help cut down the turbulence at higher speeds

1:40 You dont STRIP paint from bot hulls... the copper in the paint is what protects it from sea/plantlife. When re-painting, all youre supposed to do is sand the existing paint, and then paint over it. This way, the new paint has something to latch onto.
Also: You need to use BOTTOM PAINT which has the copper in it. Yes its expensive, but thats how you save your boat.
Edit: The copper paint is only needed for the BOTTOM paint, not the whole thing.
