- A complete walkthrough of Chapter 7: The Summit of indie platformer Celeste from Matt Makes Games. Includes locations of all collectibles including all strawberries, all gems, the crystal heart and the B-Side unlock tape. (See timecodes for all collectibles below.)
NOTES
Chapter 7 is big. It contains 47 strawberries scattered across seven sub-sections of the level. Each sub-section is designated by a distance traveled up the mountain (500m, 1000m, etc.). Each of the first six sections contains a single hidden gem. All of these must be collected in order to collect the Crystal Heart located in the final section (3000m). The B-Side Tape is located in the fourth section (1500m).
Strawberry distribution and timecodes for the other collectables are as follows:
0:15 - Section 1 (Start): 4 Strawberries, 1 gem (2:08)
2:29 - Section 2 (500m): 6 Strawberries, 1 gem (3:43, lead-up starts at 2:50)
5:46 - Section 3 (1000m): 6 Strawberries, 1 gem (7:32, lead-up starts at 7:21)
9:29 - Section 4 (1500m): 8 Strawberries, 1 gem (12:25), B-Side Tape (10:47)
14:31 - Section 5 (2000m): 8 Strawberries, 1 gem (14:38)
18:58 - Section 6 (2500m): 8 Strawberries, 1 gem (19:45, lead-up starts at 19:00)
23:36 - Section 7 (3000m): 7 Strawberries, Crystal Heart (23:38)
Many mechanics from previous chapters reappear in this chapter, including the double dash move introduced at the end of Chapter 6. In addition, you'll encounter purple bubbles containing your "dark double" self, who will throw you in a predetermined direction on certain screens. (This recharges your dash stamina.)

Everyone complains about hitboxes but the really worst thing is the secrets, half the time you dont know going into a new screen if its the next screen to progress or if its just for a strawberry, and if its progress you wont be able to come back

Yeah, this is probably the major issue I had with Celeste. If progressing didn't mean locking me out of earlier areas then guides like these wouldn't be so valuable.

+1 until I realized it was impossible to do some jumps just in the air.
If there's one thing that annoys me about this game it's the fact that it loves to bait you into missing collectibles. I hate when games blast me through a section and then don't let me go back to grab the thing I missed.
Just wanna give a quick big thanks. Splicing was clean with deaths cropped out, and you go at a steady pace, unlike speedrunners. I've made a Mario Maker stage using this video as reference

you can also jump from the wall but you still need to use the moving block
I got it once but I didn't know the mechanism falls off once at top, and fell😭😭 but did it with ease right after anyway. I just copied his exact movements at the exact time 😂

Done. Wow, this is definitely the biggest stage to 100% in the 100% journey. This helped a ton. Now onto stage 7 side b tape.

One of the hardest in the game
It tooks me 4 hours splitted in 2 separate days and more than 2500 deaths to get that fucking strawberry. Above a certain limit the difficulty is no longer fun. I went to the dark side and wished pain to the game designer 😡

Every time I played this part, it was always luck if I got out on that last dash. Thank you for that little tip, as well as this guide making it a lot easier to get the collectables. It really helped in my full clear, especially for the trickier things to find.
I somehow got that on the second try. After viewing the final stretch that proceeds though... I was like, "Ok I need a break". xD
You can also simply interrupt your dash with another one, which i find to be easier
12:50 there is a way to cheese this. You see, you dash refreshes everytime you change screens. Dash diagonally back and forth until you reach the top the the screen. Then the two dashes are enough to reach the strawberry.
I totally forgot i could do that, but this strawberry isn't hard to get.

I think the strawberries are a metaphor for "fruitless" pursuits. They seem appealing but they only end up distracting you from your goal of climbing the mountain. The game even tells you they "impress your friends but nothing else"

Using the d pad is more precise but it's in the wrong spot on the switch pro controller, and you can't tell which way you're pointing precisely on the joy stick, get a good d pad controller for this game

I did it in a totally different way by jumping above (double jump) then climb to the left side of the block (using the feather from the next checkpoint)

It's dumb that you're taught not to go to the bottom of the screen for the entire game, only to have to go down in this one part. This game makes up for it with literally everything else though, so I don't really care.

guys you can get the 13:10 strawberry with a less difficult method. you can do a super dash (dash+jump at the end of the dash), then dash diagonally and dash right to go to the trampoline and get the straweberry :)
oh my god the second dash is so useful in this chapter, i cant imagine how hard it would be to do it without it _chuckles nervously_

The start and the point they show Madeline at when selecting this chapter made me think that it was all taking place near the top of the mountain with places that look similar to previous places...

I actually can't describe with words how much i hate that section 4. It has taken me literally over 2000 tries to get all the strawberries. Those moving shitballs are taking my whole life away.

I couldn't get it in the way that is supposed to be, so I went to the next checkpoint, but then I remembered about the extended ultra dash and used to pick it. It was my first time using one of the other dashes and actually helping in something

Somehow I found 17:10 a lot harder than 16:30, after coming back for strawberries after doing the b-sides. 13:09 was just as hard, if not worse. Also 22:50 was ridiculous. Is there any sign at all that it was there? How were we supposed to find it?

16:35 be honest, here is the hardest strawberry in the game
I am struggling to understand how 9:59 is even in the game, it baffles me. You're taught the entire game not to go below the bottom of the screen or you'll die, there is no visual indicator that theres a secret down there. Even the gems which are very hidden have some sort of weird small thing out of place that makes it look like there might be something worth investigating. Is this just bad game design or am I tripping?
There needs to be an indicator light thing definitely.

Stuff like this is what ruins the game for me. Lining up hit boxes to be near pixel perfect is not fun and drains the entire feeling of satisfaction and completion that you SHOULD be getting when you pass a checkpoint.

It's not that mechanically hard, just need to have the foresight to go right a bit. It's quite fun to figure that out for myself actually
I’ve been stuck at the 25:57 strawberry now. Up to this point, I’ve completed the rest of the game, however even after studying this video and trying to practice different techniques to jump, my jumps off that cloud has never gotten that high in my game. So far I’ve put ~ 5 1/2 hours into this single strawberry. What am I doing wrong?
Okay 30 minutes later I was able to do it by jumping off normally and being very lucky I was able to just clip past the top of those stacked spikes, then clutch actually reaching the strawberry then recovering. The feeling of relieve I have right now is the same as when I beat a hard demon level in GD.
you can also so do it by dashing from under the berry, without using the cloud (I find it more easy this way)
The Chosen One I tried that but gave up after a while, thinking it impossible.

apparently the slowly moving block has an upward momentum, and if you jump at the right timing, you can use that momentum to get up.

16:35 this strawberry is crazy man, I imagine guys with bad keyboards getting this crap, (worse than I had caught it but I celebrated too early and I fell off the platform and died 😂😂😂😂) But I managed to get it (I even hurt my hand when celebrating 😂😂😂😂)
I did the same thing! Couldn’t believe that I’d actually gotten it after trying so long, froze up for a second, then fell to my death!!
Thankfully I got it in just 5 or 6 more tries the next day 😊
I'm watching this because of a specific strawberry that i can't get and the discover 5 more that i didn't know about
