    I just fixed a 1,6 FSI with misfires. Had to replace an injector, which is hard to find and a real pain to reach for it sits in the back of the engine under the intake.
    But removing the whole intake train gives you the opportunity to clean everything from throttle body to EGR- valve and flap- control.
    I'm happy I'm through.

    Nice work there !, i bought an 05 A2 1.4 tdi in same colour as yours with 117 k miles in mid June 2024, it’s now nearly at 119k and so far i’ve replaced oil level sensor & front discs & pads along with new brake light bulbs which cured the flashing amber ignition coil lamp in the cluster .. but i still have an ABS/ ESP lamp on which points to the n/s/f abs sensor .. so i have that to replace & will see if that extinguishes the warning lamp 🤞🤞
    Despite all that she’s a proper hoot to drive, extremely light & i get around 56 mpg, extremely compact & agile, goes extremely well, she doesn’t hang around at all being a torquey turbo diesel coupled to a paperweight Aluminium body / space frame 💪😎👌

    When I get a misfire fault I'll normally switch the coils around, then if the fault moves to a different cylinder I know that's the problem. Great update though, thanks

  • @IncoG8
    @IncoG8 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Quick tip, for checking coilpacks, so you don't change a working part: Change the coilpack you suspect of being bad, over to one of the other cylinders. Delete all codes, and drive the car again. If next time the fault comes up, as another cylinder, you are 100% sure that the coil is bad. If one is bad, and the other ones, are the same batch/year, change all four, for the best result.

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have you seen the recent Car Throttle video? Was it a similar steering rack leak to what they have?

    • @dreww3810
      @dreww3810 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JJonCars I noticed in their video the fluid appeared red in colour. Standard fluid is green so its either been topped up with the wrong stuff or someone has tried some stop leak. The lucas stuff is red and I topped up the 10% recommended. My leak was only on the passenger side

    Good to see you are fixing the issues and enjoying your A2. I hope your chair survived and no scratches on the A2! I try to avoid starting mine just to move it away from the garage door so I push it but always on the A pillar with the door open. That way I can jump inside hopefully smartish before it disappears down the drive and into the street!

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd not realised the slope that came out of the garage haha. Chair and A2 are in good shape, though that wing is actually quite scratched up anyway due to I think some very clumsy bonnet removal/replacement throughout its life 😄 Cheers 👍

    JJ - love your channel! Been one of my favorites for a few years now, and I'm really enjoying your journey with this A2. We never got these in the states, but I'd definitely have one if I could. Not a bad little runabout to have, and looks very cool in a quirky way. Keep up the great work!

      Ah, thank you! And thanks for commenting and saying so.
      It is a shame it didn't appear in the US, but given how this lightweight eco car didn't even do well in Europe I imagine Audi made the right financial decision in selling it only over here 😄

    I have a 2005 A2 Tdi SE, I've had it for 11 years now and it's my daily driver while my other two are for weekends.
    While the bodywork is mainly Aluminium (the bulkhead is steel), the components are from the VW Polo and some parts can be hard to get hold of.
    I have had to get front wishbones and track control arms replaced and now the near side shock absorber is leaking - the car is 19 years old after all. Hopefully replacing consumables is all that is required as I love the car. Tyres can be another issue, as only a few manufacturers support the size I need because the only modern car that uses the same size is the Nissan Micra.
    It's a great car and great to see that you are saving one from the scrap heap.
    My fear is always of someone driving into the back of mine as it would be an instant write off.

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have you got unusual wheels on the car, is that why the tyre size is hard to find? Glad to do my bit to keep another A2 going :) Cheers!

    • @petebaja2690
      @petebaja2690 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JJonCars no, they are 15" Audi alloys unlike the 16" typically fitted to Sport models. The tyre size is 185/60 x 15 and I originally changed the variety of no name brand tyres to Continental tyres but they are now £150 each! So I have changed to Dunlop"s on the front, still a chunky £110.

    Many moons ago, I used to go over the top when cleaning my car, which included removing the grill and light clusters and other bits - and cleaning up and waxing the usually hidden bits of bodywork. That was a bit anal TBH, considering that cars I owned at the time were only worth a few hundred quid! Nowadays, I'm older and not so physically able, the more expensive car I have does not get any pampering!
