Grown adults who go after people that just turned 18 are like companies that pay employees a minimum wage. If it was legal, they would go lower. disgusting
@@clevergray8754 Agreed. When my brother was working at PetSmart, he had a few girls ask him out but despite him being early 20s, he turned them down because, even though they would be like eight-teen or nine-teen, he refused to date anyone who was still technically a "teen." Maybe it was the reason and he just wasn't comfortable. I think he also just didn't want to date anyone he worked with or maybe even at all at the time. He's the shy, quiet type so it could be one or all those reasons. The shop ended up being closed down. He says they weren't treating the pets right.
I used to be worried about losing my keys too. So I got a carabiner and attached them to my belt loop. Been doing that for 20 odd years never lost my keys.
I don't lose my keys that often, and usually when I do, they're in 1 of 3 locations (I also have them on a bright orange lanyard). What I did use to lose/misplace a lot was the phone I had between 2006-2008. It was a tiny thing, seriously, search Samsung X830 and you'll see 😂 I ended up putting a phone lanyard on that too. Back when they had the holes for them.
Talking things out like family names, hyphenation during marriage, children and what their names might be by a family tradition, these are all conversations that you need to have before you get married to someone, it's part of determining compatibility
I hate to sound like a redditor screaming 'break up" but this sounds like a situation where that would be for the best for both of them. But especially for OP since bf doesn't want to compromise on things
This is just one of many questions brought up when you have some sort of premarital counseling. I think the divorce and domestic violence cases would be seriously lower if this was a condition to be met once you apply for a wedding license.
Sometimes breaking up is the best option. I know a lot of people sometimes say (for all manner of situations) "therapy/counseling", but the truth is that there are things that can't be "fixed" with either of those.
I usually struggle to accept anyone below 24 as "adult." Like I see something about a 23 year old and think, "a baby!! omg!" Because lowkey I was still pretty stupid and incapable at 23. Something about 24-25 really turns the lights on upstairs, idk. Just that extra life experience maybe. Serious wake-up calls. Or maybe the pressure of genuinely becoming a "real adult" starts to mean something when you realize mom can't pay for your insurance forever and you only have two years to get your shit together. The allure of being young starts to wear off real quick when your parents' safety net begins fraying away. I don't date though. I don't like people😌 So maybe someone else can find something worthwhile in a partner that young still. I feel like you can only talk about video games or college and tequila for so long before you'll want to start discussing important life things or "boring" hobbies that decompress you as a geriatric 27 year old, though. At 23, I didn't care about that stuff, I just wanted money to buy all the fun trinkets, and games, and smoke gear I saw. You know, pointless crap. But YOLO and "shopping makes me happy so isn't that all that matters???🫠" Real life happens for 'most' people after 23, in my own observations. Friends get better after 23, too. 22 year olds make lousy friends unless you wanna smoke or party lol There's no being consoled about taxes by a 22 year old😅 There's a reason we side eye age gaps of certain demographics. It's not about looking down on the young, it's mostly just understanding that maturity and age makes people very different than they used to be. Interests change. There's no use bringing the younger folks down. They should be allowed to be as young as they can while they can. We know it only gets worse from there. Being married to a 36 year old? That'll age an 18 year old like milk. Let the young be young. I can only hope the rest of us were luckier in being allowed to wear out our youthfulness to it's natural expiration. Although... a couple more years of being dumb and selfish would've been nice imo
@@Nightswarmer Same! I started dating my partner when i was 20 and he was 19, and when I turned 21 I felt so awkward for the couple months before he turned 20. I genuinely cannot fathom being in my *30's* and being interested in an *18 year old?* Insane
I’m in my early 30s and a guy in his early 20s was trying to flirt with me. All I could think was “baby boy, your brain isn’t even fully developed.” I mentioned that I remember living in the 90s and that stopped things real quick 😂
@@AGolfHitter someone needs to look up what grooming is. if a 36 year old meets an 18 year old and they start dating doesnt make it grooming also if i infer your age (or maturity) from your edgy user name i'd say youre physically or mentally not legally allowed to date someone above the age of 18 anyways...
@vhaelen326 I have to sleep for my night shift and will be running another 12 hour shift. It is mentioned that she was 17 when they got together, you should be able to find it. I cannot remember if it was in the update or a comment response, as I listen to these as downloads while working and could not get the timestamp at the time
Story 3: NTA There's nothing about suddenly being "of legal age" that magically makes a person [a teenage person!] immune to grooming. OP is right to be concerned, but will have to be careful about how he approaches the subject from here on. I can guarantee that her "boyfriend" is absolutely counting on her becoming isolated from anyone who would object and give her support if she tried to leave after getting hitched, which unfortunately means OP may have to just tolerate the relationship in order to support her. If OP makes his niece feel like he's judging her and "just trying to break them up", that won't be possible.
6:50 I don't think OPs husband is using weaponized incompetence, he's genuinely incompetent. If the man is willing to let his car get stolen before he keeps track of his keys, then he's a huge dunce and can't be trusted.
ah yes, the typical false equivalency fallacy here are some key differences between a baby and an 18 year old ADULT that ensure these two situations that you compared to each other are very different: the 18 year old ADULT can think rationally unlike the baby the 18 year old ADULT can act on their thoughts and opinions unlike the baby the 18 year old ADULT can VOICE their thoughts and opinions unlike the baby the 18 year old ADULT can make their own choices unlike the baby hope that cleared up the confusion
@@gremlininblue2601 guessing from the fact that you consider objectivity "defending something" and your immediat attack on my character instead of an actuall argument i'd say you havent been alowed near a school zone since you were 12 also FYI im 17 so might wanna go see a doctor maybe they can remove your head out of your own ass as clearly youre not able to do so yourself
I'm not a psychology/abuse professional but in case anyone's got this going on in their own life: That might sound like youre calling her a baby and not competent to make her own decisions. Part of the excitement of turning 18 is feeling like youre free to control yourself. Maybe compare a 14 year old and a 9 year old and explain age gaps matter more the younger humans are. Talk to people getting tricked like this respectfully and like they aren't stupid, because predators will go "oh sweetie, I don't understand why your family treats you so poorly, youre so intelligent and worthwhile (unlike your AnGrY friends and family, *I* love you)" when the victim talks to them about the situation. Children are people. 18 year olds are people. Behave with the maturity you want the victim to understand without even IMPLYING theyre a dumb stupid idiot because they're NOT. They just don't know and never will in time if no one talks to them about WHY the situation is concerning. "Age gap is bad BECAUSE __ can (and tends to) happen" "Dating a minor even if consent laws OK it is bad BECAUSE ..." "People on the older side of this try this BECAUSE ..." Explain WHY people cradle-rob. Afaik it's so people like his niece can't explore the dating scene, learn what's good, learn they're not a good partner, learn they're not the right match, have space to learn from other maturing relationships, or the older person isn't wanted by their peers *for reasons*. Even if they say they're "just a child at heart," that's way easier to springboard off of than arguing against "we just love each other!" Educate about love-bombing and how it's a THING for predators to 180 once they think they've tied someone down. *Show her not just "red flag guy," but "GREEN flag guy."* 1. Try *very* hard to behave with the respect, trust, and maturity youre expecting her to demand (apologize for the outburst without apologizing for WHY you reacted that way). Youre trying to protect someone: listen to them, make sure you understand, put a pause on any ego or hurt if they're defending the relationship, then respond (or respond later! "What you said has been on my mind..." It's not about you. 2. Birth control was such a good suggestion omg. 3. Assure the victim they're worthy of good things if they need to hear that (they might ONLY be hearing it from the predator). Tell them good things exist and she can find them by exploring. Point out positive role models and good relationship moments (not just cute ones, but like, *conflict resolution*) and tell her she CAN find someone who takes her breath away but married people tend to stay in bad relationships because they think it's best for the children (often it's not!). 4. She can stay engaged, lol. It's a promise to partners! But marriage isn't just a promise, it's a LEGAL domain. See if the victim would be comfortable holding off for 3 or 5 years. 18-21 is time for an insane leap in maturity, parents' health insurance usually covers young adults, and it's a long time for predator antics to get swept under the rug inside one's own heart. 5. Be there for the victim while respecting your own boundaries. "I can't tolerate this situation but if you ever need help changing it or leaving, even if we haven't talked in 15 years, i want you to know my dolr will be open to you." Sometimes you can't fix or stop it, but you can be an out if they ever feel they're *deeply* stuck. This actually works great for people swept up in cults, fun fact. It's not wrong or stupid to be tricked or groomed, that's why we call cradle-robbed people "victims." Calling victims stupid because we have knowledge/support they didn't get only helps abusers. But like, again: I dont have any training in dealing with this kind of thing. I'd probably just ask a therapist or hotline for advice but without those resources this would be my GENERAL OUTLINE.
Bring your adorb face back to the thumbnails, it makes you stand out and attracts new viewers because they know it's not a robot reading the stories 💀 ETA ok it would also be very acceptable and eye-catching if you used your cat army in the thumbnails 😸
Yes! I’ve clicked on shorts thinking it’s you because some others having taken to using Minecraft or your flying game as their background and then I’m disappointed. Always brand your stuff. We are loyal to you❣️✨
I am so annoyed by the proliferation of robots reading reddit vids without any kind of indication if it's ai or not until you click on it, whenever I see a reddit reaction video with an actual human face attached I get so excited lol
@@BetaJackMaxis if the thumbnails had his cats that would be a whole new world. I don't think I've seen that yet in this sphere. The new vanilla thumbnails he's using are something I would prob automatically dismiss as AI if I saw them on my feed, unfortunately. That smells out loud because Vincey is the ✨ greatest ✨ Reddit reactor! And the Gospel must be spread throughout the land 😻
If I think something is AI written, voiced, or produced and it’s not made immediately apparent (AI in name or title) I click off instantly. I’m sure others do, too. That was a great point you had. When I started watching Vincey I was looking for any sign of AI, ready to block the channel, and was unsure until I saw his face.
Story 5: Cat door. You can put a cat door in interior doors. That could be such an easy solution and even if they can't put in a cat door get one of those things you put on the door knob to keep it just open enough for the cat to go in and out
It seems like a dorm situation, so they might not be able to install the cat door. Great idea though! I just wanted to add on to your second suggestion by recommending a blackout curtain that reaches the floor or less than a foot above the floor for cat clearance on a rod installed on or around their door. If the door jam is thick enough, even a tension rod would do and the roommate could take it down whenever she wasn’t in need of the extra privacy. And blackout curtains usually offer a level of sound dampening as well as ensuring not even a silhouette could be on display. This is one of my nightmare scenarios and something similar happened to me with a roommate and her girlfriend. Thankfully, I’ve long since gotten my own place and peace.
Story 3 is nothing short of predatory behavior. They met when she was 17, dated for a year, and now that she's a "legal adult", he's gonna marry her?? AND NO ONE FUCKING ELSE FINDS THAT A LITTLE SUSPICIOUS??
Story 5:OP is literally only asking for basic roommate behaviour,Closing the door when loud in your room. Literally every normal human does that,NTA at all
Story 1 - when you form a family with someone, your first commitment and priority is that new family. Family of origin is important, but they don't get to dictate ANYTHING about your marriage or kids. And if your partner doesn't agree it's something you need to iron out before marriage, cuz it won't be easier after.
Post 3: Op you were 100% correct to react that way being polite about the fact that they were dating at 18 and 36 is one thing but condoning an engagement when they were dating when she was still a minor, NO dude is a predator and needs to be taught a lesson
I'm in a mental hospital at the moment, and me and my two roomies are sitting in my bed every evening watching one new and one very old Vincey episode with snacks and enjoy the evening. This is our dayly highlight, so thank you for giving us something to bond and forget the struggles for a little bit❤
“Who takes a 45 minute shower?!” Me: (sweats in liking to meditate in there) For real though, that’s why I prefer taking my showers after everyone is done. OP’s roommate is being ridiculous.
If I, at age 18, had come home with a 36 year old man on my arm, my dad would have NOT let that man leave his home unscathed. The fact that the girls parents think it's normal is so gross 🤢
I’m 18 years old and anybody over the age of 25 is hard to relate to, let alone date. And let’s be real the whole family 100% knows it’s wrong and are just playing along to keep Ella happy.
You would be shocked at how many grown adults 100% do NOT see anything wrong with this. Either because they themselves are attracted to children, or because they themselves were groomed as children and thus see it as something normal.
@The_bisexual_crow25 @The_bisexual_crow25 When I was like 15 my mom gave my number to a dude in his mid20s (he was in a band with her best friend's son) and saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. She said it was time I started being interested in guys and sex and the fact I wasn't was concerning.
I'm 30 and the idea of dating anyone under 25 is disgusting to me. An 18 year old is basically a baby to me. While we may have few common grounds for some conversation, our life experiences would be too far apart to really connect. I could see some argument for it if she was 18 and they just happened to meet and connect, but he was going after her when she was 17, and he put a ring on her finger as soon as he could. Next he's going to get her pregnant as soon as he can. Get her out of there.
My guess wasn't jealous but that the boyfriend (or roommate herself, I suppose is also a possibility) enjoys exhibitionism and having the door wide open while the roommate was home was a turn-on.
@stepbro9042 see that's why I assumed it might be him, maybe he asked, she didn't want to, did it for him anyway, got called out, responded with anger and "no u actually". I figured if it was a spite thing and OP was 'supposed to hear and be upset' THEN she'd be smug! Who knows man I just can't imagine 'door wide open' not being embarrassing, personally, unless like you're into it I guess.
That story about the 36 year old and 18 year old... I met up with some old classmates today and we got to talking. One of em went "yo, you heared about V's new boyfriend?" well long story short.. He's 48. We are 24/25. He's literally double her age. Sure, it's all legal, but also just weird And then we remembered how the twins in our class hve had the same boyfriends since they were 14. The boyfriends of both of em were 23 and 25 at the time I just feel so gross when i think about that now.
Story 3: I remember a similar story where dad, upon meeting his daughter's much older boyfriend, didn't say anything, but "befriended" the guy. After a while of watching him bond with her dad, the daughter realized just how little they had in common and broke up with him. Not saying that might be happening here, but family not outwardly objecting doesn't always mean they approve.
Story 3: For me, the most important thing isn't "they are both adults", its if they are in the same "stage" of their life. Like for example, a 4 year gap, if both are in college, it's ok, if one is in college and the other is a freshman in high school, it's not. A 10 year gap, if they are both professionals that are on their way on their careers and have been in the workforce for a while, its ok, but if one is fresh out of college or even finishing college and the other is on their way on their career and has been on the work force for a while, it's not.
Post 5: I had a roommate who brought a guy home while I was asleep. She didn’t text me while I was knocked out as a heads up, so I didn’t wake up to any warning. I walked downstairs and they were getting intimate in the kitchen. After he left, she had the audacity to tell me that I embarrassed her and made him uncomfortable.
7:09 I was worried about losing my key to my room when I was dorming. So I put it on a lanyard, which has its own hook by the door. Now I have no more worries about losing it
Story 2: He's more worried about losing the keys than losing the car, which he's literally already done! At best he's a Kevin at worst he legit doesn't care
lol the second story: husband is being silly. My SO has ADHD and is a menace with forgetting where he puts things, so he keeps his keys on a lanyard and when they’re not around his neck, they’re hung on a hook. He still forgets where they are sometimes 😂 but luckily I just have to remind him “they’re on the hook”
I am incredibly prone to losing things. I would NEVER leave my key in my damn car though!! That is just asking to have your car stolen! What i do to not lose my keys or meds for example, is put them in the exact same place every time. Meds go into a small pocket in my backpack and keys go in my purse beside my wallet. If im not bringing my purse, i wear something with pockets to put them in. And i always make sure my keys are already in my hand before i leave the house so i can't lock myself out
Story 3, (TW): Ive said this on other reddit videos before, but I have a very personal level of disgust with massive age gaps, esp when one is under the age of 20 while the other is in their late 30s or older. When my half-sister had just turned 19, she started dating a guy who was 37. My dad's sode of the family was all concerned about the age gap and tried to warn her, but, since she was young, she didn't see how weird/creepy he was. He shot her and his entire family, and then turned it on himself. Middle aged men who date girls who are barely out of high school are nasty and NEVER any good, I dont care WHO tries to defend it no matter how "HaPpY" they are. I'll call them exactly what they are, creepy old predators that want young girls that they can take advantage of and control. Its a gross power imbalance. And yes, the same goes for weird old women that hit on young boys, or men who hit on boys and women that hit on girls. People need to stay in their damn range. If theres more than a 10 year age gap its sickening, and even 10 is finnicky if one member of the relationship is under 20. Yikes for real.
Post 1: this first born son being named the same name reminds me of a British TV show called the revenge files of aleister fury (spelling might be wrong) where each generation has a boy, a girl and a Alastair lol
How is it a better scenario to get your car stolen than having a set of back up keys at home or getting new keys if you loose them? And what exactly was OPs fault? That the car didn´t get stolen or that the husband had to wait a few minutes ? I´m pretty sure, he´d be more panicked if the car straight up wasn´t there when he got back. If I were OP I´d get to the car and drive a few blocks away to scare the husband straight(but seeing as his car got stolen and he still continues to do this, I doubt that I´d have much effect.)
1- that wouldn't be my boyfriend anymore, especially with those reactions 2- this dude sounds like a complete moron, what does he do with his house key? 3- op is the only one looking out for that poor girl 4- op has the right to do the Nelson point and laugh "ha ha!" 5- uuhhhh wtf the cat is the worst excuse to use for keeping the door open... 6- lol bathroom sabotage on purpose? Main character syndrome much? The roommate is in the wrong
Story 1: They said the first boy of each generation. So if one of his siblings has a child first, they would take the name and that is it. If they have the first child, their son would be the only one with that name, not each first son. But imo, those two are incompatible, he is traditional, she is not. Nothing wrong with either way but they need to break up so they can find partners that match their values. These things are deal breakers and will cause nothing but resentment and a fast track to divorce and/or a broken family.
The last story reminds me of my suit mates, we shared a bathroom but not a room. Nearly every day between the hours of 2:20 and 3:30 am they would shower. I wake up during the night and often have to get dressed to use the public toilets because I’d feel gross going in my pajamas then laying in bed
For story 3, OP is a slight a-hole, she had the right thought but shouldn't have yelled at her, after all she is the victim and yelling at her is just gonna push her further into his arms. It will also allow him to spin the narrative that OP and the other people that are trying to protect her is controlling and that he'll save her from all of them
@@camwin7 That isn't lost on me. A) Turned 18 seven months ago is a teenager, "young adult" is how I'd refer to my younger brother, a mid twenty-sonething, and b) Comments like that, that credit *any* bad faith action to the teenager instead of their creepy failure of a *parent* are an example of how society fails children and perpetuates predation. She hasn't become a 'jezebel' intent on showing up her friends just because she's technically no longer considered a minor. She was groomed and failed by her family, that comment is incorrect and harmful framing. It also assumes that the 38yo chasing minors has material wealth to lust after? The predo has some spoils, some level of material acceas that he can offer a *teenager* that he clearly can't offer women his own age? Let's just call it what it is, is what the folks in this part of the comment section are getting at, I'd say.
Story 6: I live with my late fiancé’s family, and share the bathroom with Gma. I moved all my bathroom crap to my room bc Gma was upset about me hogging the bathroom. Its actually been a lot easier to move my morning routine stuff that doesn’t include the bathroom and i’m a lot happier about it lol
Story 5- Having the door open for the cat is a terrible excuse. Why would you want your cat in the same room when you and your partner are having sex? That sounds fucking weird, what the hell-
On the first post. Traditions are nice but this reminds me of the scene in Goodfellas where they are walking around the party and all the men are named Peter or Paul. So no OP is NTA and should really talk to their partner or re-evaluate their relationship future. On post no. 2. If the husband has had a car stolen once why would he ever consider doing the same thing again WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S CAR!? Like we have proof that leaving the keys in the car is a bad idea and you risked my car because losing the keys was the worst outcome? Put the keys on your belt loop. It is not hard to lose keys.
My dad's side of the family has a tradition of using the father's name as the firstborn son's middle name. So, if James has a son, the son's name would be something like Andrew James. It's simple, and it leaves room for a unique first name. It makes way more sense than the firstborn son of every child in the family having the same first freaking name.
Bathroom/shower story: id literally take a crap on the floor in front of the bathroom and walk away if a roommate kept me from the toilet. And id refuse to clean it up, at least not immediately, id take a shower first, lol.
I remember when my 60 year old grandad said that someone who's 16 is legal and that's ok and I was 17 at the time. I started to think of him as a pervert then not a grandad.
Story 3: I'm 25, almost 26, and I would be uncomfortable dating someone younger than 22. This creep is nearly 40 and started dating a TEENAGER. I hope she gets the hell away from him before he ruins her life! I would have the same reaction OP did!
The first story kinda happened in my own family, where all of my great-grandfather's siblings named their first daughter after their mother. So my Gran was called Margaret, but had to go by her middle name, and had cousins who went by Madge, Margie, Maggie, etc. in order to differentiate. The funniest part is that the original Margaret didn't even go by Margaret, she went by Annie, so its a running joke for us that no one with that name ever actually goes by it
On the first story: my family has three men named Frank. My grandfather, his first son, and then his son(my cousin). The other half of my family has two Johns, but one goes by Jack. I would never give those names to my children should I have any
S1: The hypocrisy in him saying she's overreacting when he's arguing over the exact same thing is what gets me. He just wants his way. Age gap: 17/18 with 36 is actually insane.
At first I didn't think the first story was that bad, my friend just got married and her husband is the 4th Matthew in his family and their first son is going to be Matthew as well. But, it's a name passed down from one father to one son, and they all go by their middle names. So the middle name is actually more important than the first name when it comes to naming that child. Oh, and also she agreed! If your so doesn't agree then it's off the table. No questions asked.
Story 1 - is it just the first boy in the generation, or do all first cousins have the same name - given and family as well? That's confusing and stupid and insane
Story 2 makes me think of something that just recently stopped for me. I live with a close friend, H, and we've lived together for 8 y. Last year, her friend K came to live with us as she was doing a Masters here (in the UK, she's from the US). I'm not going to go into everything that drove me mad about K, but one thing was her inability to lock our door. We have two front doors, the outer one and inner one. The inner leads straight into our flat and the outer to the entrance and is accessed by both us and upstairs neighbour. She never locked the inner door when she went out for short periods (around 30 min) since the outer door locks by itself. No one but me seemed to find that a big deal since "it's not like anyone can just walk in" and that "you have to unlock the outer door first". But upstairs are not someone we know or trust and has a bad temper. I didn't feel safe at all with it left like that. Thankfully, she's now back in the States. Story 3 reminds me of myself. Not going to mention all details, but I "dated" a 29yo when I was 13. My parents allowed him home for dinner etc. Mum claims she told me he wasn't good for me, but I have no memories of that and when confronting her why she allowed him in then or me to see him she says "you're so stubborn and would've seen him anyway". The thing is, I'm stubborn, but if she had forbidden me, I wouldn't have done it, I've never been a disobedient kid. I'm autistic and seen as the boring one. She also never realised it was illegal and could've contacted the police (this happened in a Scandinavian country in early 00's). I would've loved an uncle to protect me then, but both my parents are family outcasts (no fault of their own though, their families are insane). (I think dad didn't think much of it because there was a 21y age gap between his own parents and they met when they were 17 and 38...)
#1 multiple people in the same family avoidably having the same name is always stupid. Making it a secodary/middle name is fine but as a first/primary name? No. Confusing like Vincey says at 2:58
Bro i would call the cops on a 36 year old dating my teenage niece. I might also be facing some charges too by the time they show up if you get me. Absolutely not someone needs to check that freaks harddrives. That relationship is older than her ability to vote and it shouldnt be hard to prove. Straight to jail.
The 18 year old marrying the 36 year old: that's very scary. He groomed her, obviously. All of the times he could have met Ella's family, he mysteriously "couldn't make it". Suddenly, he's able to make it, but by then, they're already engaged! He orchestrated it that way to get Ella further into his web without her family's interference! If Ella is anything like me, engagement is a lovely wonderful thing that she dreamed of happening to her, and he took advantage. He's sick, a literal predator. NTA.
When I was 18 I started dating a 29 y.o. man. 6 months later we got married (I had turned 19 by then and he turned 30). My family was fine with it, both my parents and my 3 older brothers loved him! He had a 3 y.o. daughter whose mother abandoned them, so I was an instant mother. Got pregnant with our son 10 month into the marriage. That 3 y.o. little girl is now 34 and our son is 29. One would think my experience would make me take the niece and older bf's side, but with the wisom of age (I'm now 50), I think it's horrible. I was incredibly mature for my age, was a h.s. senior at 16, moved out of my parents house at 17, paid my own bills, made my own way in life until I met my husband. But an 11 year difference between a very mature and more experienced woman is different from an 18 year age difference with a girl who, by the sounds of it, is living at home or was up until recently and has no life experience on her own as an adult. She will naturally have to defer to Mark in everything because she went from childhood straight to being his wife! That's a disparity that will cause problems. The balance of power will be unfairly tipped to Mark. He also sounds like a ephebophile (that's a thing, look it up) who's been grooming her!
Story 1this is why you talk about this stuff before marriage and babies. Now op knows the his feelings and cam nope out early on. Story 2 nta it's stupid to leave the keys in the car. Story 3 nta that age gap especially when she is under 25 is extra icky icky .
As someone who takes long showers and has an excessive skin care routine after, if youre gonna be like that with roommates you have to have two separate bathrooms or you have to adjust your bathroom schedule to accomodate one bathroom. No one likes a shared bathroom hog if there isn't even another option
Right. Everyone I've ever shared a bathroom with will always ask if anyone needs the bathroom before they go spend more than the time it takes to poop.
Post 6: Taco Bell. Looooots of Taco Bell. Make that restroom unusable by anyone other than yourself. Mark your territory. If she has to be in there, she has to inhale your poo particles. Muahaha.
I'm a psych major. The human brain, assuming neurotypicality, does not finish developing until 25ish. The final parts to develop are the frontal lobe - which controls executive function (stuff like planning ahead, impulse control, etc.). If you are under 25, I'm sorry, but you're still considered an adolescent medically.
S1: classic case of “tradition is just peer pressure from dead people.”
Grown adults who go after people that just turned 18 are like companies that pay employees a minimum wage. If it was legal, they would go lower. disgusting
Agreed 🤮
The only reason I can see her family supporting it is that he has money and they want a part of it. Awful people.
It’s akin to her, at 18, dating a newborn baby.
If you have to say "Its perfectly legal" youre probably doing something you shouldnt.
It was a tiny thing, seriously, search Samsung X830 and you'll see 😂
I ended up putting a phone lanyard on that too.
Well they haven't married yet there is still time.
Im just 26 and the idea of dating a 18 year old makes me feel Ill, i can't imagine how a *36* year old is planning on MARRYING an 18 year old!
For real! I'm 25 and I'd feel weird dating a 21 year old! An 18 year old is a child, even if not legally!
When I was 21, I dated a guy that was 19 and even that felt like I was dating a toddler!!
But YOLO and "shopping makes me happy so isn't that all that matters???🫠"
Real life happens for 'most' people after 23, in my own observations.
I genuinely cannot fathom being in my *30's* and being interested in an *18 year old?*
Insane
I’m in my early 30s and a guy in his early 20s was trying to flirt with me. All I could think was “baby boy, your brain isn’t even fully developed.” I mentioned that I remember living in the 90s and that stopped things real quick 😂
Nope. Nope. 36 with an 18 year old? That's robbing the cradle.
Groomers **shudder**
@@AGolfHitter someone needs to look up what grooming is. if a 36 year old meets an 18 year old and they start dating doesnt make it grooming

I cannot remember if it was in the update or a comment response, as I listen to these as downloads while working and could not get the timestamp at the time
Story 3: "They're legal adults!" She wasn't when the relationship started 🤨
As one of the comments in Story 3 says, OP needs to be there if things go wrong.
And looking at the story, things WILL go wrong.

Take a baby to Ella and ask her if she wants to marry the baby. When she says that’s gross then explain that her “fiancé” is doing that
ah yes, the typical false equivalency fallacy
here are some key differences between a baby and an 18 year old ADULT that ensure these two situations that you compared to each other are very different:
the 18 year old ADULT can think rationally unlike the baby
the 18 year old ADULT can act on their thoughts and opinions unlike the baby
the 18 year old ADULT can VOICE their thoughts and opinions unlike the baby
the 18 year old ADULT can make their own choices unlike the baby
hope that cleared up the confusion

I'm not a psychology/abuse professional but in case anyone's got this going on in their own life:
That might sound like youre calling her a baby and not competent to make her own decisions.
"Age gap is bad BECAUSE __ can (and tends to) happen"
"Dating a minor even if consent laws OK it is bad BECAUSE ..."
"People on the older side of this try this BECAUSE ..."
Explain WHY people cradle-rob.
*Show her not just "red flag guy," but "GREEN flag guy."*
"I can't tolerate this situation but if you ever need help changing it or leaving, even if we haven't talked in 15 years, i want you to know my dolr will be open to you."
Sometimes you can't fix or stop it, but you can be an out if they ever feel they're *deeply* stuck.

Literally every normal human does that,NTA at all
Absolutely no one over the age of 30 should be dating a 17-year-old. Are the parents getting some sort of benefit from this?
Story 1 - when you form a family with someone, your first commitment and priority is that new family. Family of origin is important, but they don't get to dictate ANYTHING about your marriage or kids. And if your partner doesn't agree it's something you need to iron out before marriage, cuz it won't be easier after.
And let's pretend that OP's family also had a naming tradition.
Which one would take "priority" then?
Post 3: Op you were 100% correct to react that way being polite about the fact that they were dating at 18 and 36 is one thing but condoning an engagement when they were dating when she was still a minor, NO dude is a predator and needs to be taught a lesson
If they had started dating when she was 18 he would still be a predator and nobody should be polite Bout that.

For real though, that’s why I prefer taking my showers after everyone is done.
@ that’s so concerning. Like if you’re 25 or older age is a little less important but she’s 18 like 22 should be her max of dating
@The_bisexual_crow25 @The_bisexual_crow25 When I was like 15 my mom gave my number to a dude in his mid20s (he was in a band with her best friend's son) and saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. She said it was time I started being interested in guys and sex and the fact I wasn't was concerning.

i’m a little sad when there’s no vincey video for the day but then i get excited because i remember yay vincey gets to chill today!
Post 5, she wasn’t keeping it open for the cat. The cat can wait 10 mins. She was just jealous of OP and wanted to make sure she heard to spite her
My guess wasn't jealous but that the boyfriend (or roommate herself, I suppose is also a possibility) enjoys exhibitionism and having the door wide open while the roommate was home was a turn-on.
@ doubt it. I feel like she’d be more smug in that situation instead of mad like she is now
@stepbro9042 see that's why I assumed it might be him, maybe he asked, she didn't want to, did it for him anyway, got called out, responded with anger and "no u actually". I figured if it was a spite thing and OP was 'supposed to hear and be upset' THEN she'd be smug! Who knows man I just can't imagine 'door wide open' not being embarrassing, personally, unless like you're into it I guess.
@ that fair, it’s either into it or just generally insane.
1- NTA, You shouldn't marry someone who doesn't care about your opinion!
Absolutely. This goes far deeper than a name. And his family will always come before OP.
That story about the 36 year old and 18 year old...
I met up with some old classmates today and we got to talking. One of em went "yo, you heared about V's new boyfriend?" well long story short.. He's 48. We are 24/25. He's literally double her age.
Sure, it's all legal, but also just weird
And then we remembered how the twins in our class hve had the same boyfriends since they were 14. The boyfriends of both of em were 23 and 25 at the time
I just feel so gross when i think about that now.
I get what you're saying but 24/25 isn't the same as 17/18. You guys have years of being an adult under your belt and your brains are fully formed.
Story 5: Easy solution. Just make sure the cat isn't in there before you start.
Story 2: Has this man never heard of this nice invention called a 🌟 lanyard 🌟
I’m 37 and the idea of dating an 18 year old is out of the question, it was weird enough for me when I was 27 and my, now, partner was 22.
Story 5. I would go in there and close the door for her.
Id start a convo lol
Story 3: For me, the most important thing isn't "they are both adults", its if they are in the same "stage" of their life. Like for example, a 4 year gap, if both are in college, it's ok, if one is in college and the other is a freshman in high school, it's not. A 10 year gap, if they are both professionals that are on their way on their careers and have been in the workforce for a while, its ok, but if one is fresh out of college or even finishing college and the other is on their way on their career and has been on the work force for a while, it's not.
Also the brain isn't fully developed until age 25.
Kitties! Kitties make everything better. Give your kitties some treats from all of us.
The kitties in the back are to die for !

With story 5, play loud childrens music whenever they start fucking with the door open
lol the second story: husband is being silly. My SO has ADHD and is a menace with forgetting where he puts things, so he keeps his keys on a lanyard and when they’re not around his neck, they’re hung on a hook. He still forgets where they are sometimes 😂 but luckily I just have to remind him “they’re on the hook”
This is my partner also have ADHD that is chronic!! But leaving the keys in the car God that’s a good way to get the car stolen
i can’t help but notice the kittys in the background slowly rotating positions and just being cute❤
They've been dating for 3 years and she's only just now finding out about this family tradition?
I am incredibly prone to losing things. I would NEVER leave my key in my damn car though!! That is just asking to have your car stolen! What i do to not lose my keys or meds for example, is put them in the exact same place every time. Meds go into a small pocket in my backpack and keys go in my purse beside my wallet. If im not bringing my purse, i wear something with pockets to put them in. And i always make sure my keys are already in my hand before i leave the house so i can't lock myself out
There should be a 3 year period of being togheter before you can get engaged so both know if they want to marry
Post 5: your roomate is lucky, id have cheered them on when i walked by, maybe even asked if they wanted a 3rd just to be a real prick.
Maybe stand in the doorway and trying to have small talk and then go "well the door is open I thought you wanted company" when they get pisst lol
story 1: act like you're gonna break up over the name and see if his reaction makes you want to break up for real ❤️
Playing with other people’s emotions to see if they love you enough is not a healthy thing to do
Omg I love seeing your cats during videos! As well as the positive endings after wild situations that stress me out sometimes! Hope all is well!
1- that wouldn't be my boyfriend anymore, especially with those reactions
2- this dude sounds like a complete moron, what does he do with his house key?
3- op is the only one looking out for that poor girl
4- op has the right to do the Nelson point and laugh "ha ha!"
5- uuhhhh wtf the cat is the worst excuse to use for keeping the door open...
6- lol bathroom sabotage on purpose? Main character syndrome much? The roommate is in the wrong
No, get an air horn the next time the door is open and just stand there holding down the button with the most deadpan stare ever.
Story 2:It's not OP's fault that guy is dumber than a newborn.
Guy literally got a car stolen because of his dumb ahh. NTA at all
Story 1: They said the first boy of each generation.
1: every male in the family having the same first and last name sounds like a recepie for world's easiest identity theft
It will also allow him to spin the narrative that OP and the other people that are trying to protect her is controlling and that he'll save her from all of them
"mutual exploitation"??? Between a SEVENTEEN year old and a nearly-40yo??? Nah that commenter is gross too.
Absolutely. Glad someone pointed it out

My parents broke a naming tradition with my brother.
The cat tower in the back helps so much with making these stories less-horrible to take in haha
I have adhd, I'm always worried about losing things. I try to keep them in the same place every time that isn't someplace stupid, like keys in car
8:36 what is that cat doing lmfaooo
Bathroom/shower story: id literally take a crap on the floor in front of the bathroom and walk away if a roommate kept me from the toilet. And id refuse to clean it up, at least not immediately, id take a shower first, lol.
I remember when my 60 year old grandad said that someone who's 16 is legal and that's ok and I was 17 at the time. I started to think of him as a pervert then not a grandad.
I would love a stories about Kevin episode sometime!
Love the design of your tunnels!
I would never give those names to my children should I have any
Love the little furry lumps in the background
S1: The hypocrisy in him saying she's overreacting when he's arguing over the exact same thing is what gets me. He just wants his way.
Age gap: 17/18 with 36 is actually insane.
I'm only 21 but dating a 17 year old gives me the ick. I was 20 and i wouldnt date a 17 year old.
No. Confusing like Vincey says at 2:58
Love you, vincey!
Thanks for brightening my day!
Hope's all well with you :)
Story 1: Let the older brother with the name, call his son the same way.
Story 4: NTA
She didn't and never deserved Jake.
Jake dodged a bullet
NTA.
Lol, the first story was so icky that both the cats in the background decided to clean themselves 😅
Story 4: There has never been a more appropriate time for a nice whomp whomp.
Story 3:
*meanwhile in my brain*
Pff, my sister is 14 years older than me, and I became an aunt at age 5 😂
We should place bets on which cat is going to be spotted licking its butt on camera first.
I misheard 36 as 86 and was so fucking horrified. Still horrified but for a minute there I was questioning reality itself
