Go for it! There was one auto shop girl in my class that had super model looks... But she was fearless and didn't mind getting dirty. She changed the head gasket on her Acura at school. More experienced students would give her pointers and tips on what and how to do it. She fixed her car. Don't be afraid. There's plenty of videos and information online now that can help you out if you get in a bind. Ignore the haters.
Let people tell you you can’t, it’s the best motivation there is to prove them wrong. Iv worked with a few women in technical roles. They actually have an advantage sometimes because they generally have smaller hands which allow them to get into places that some guys can’t. Especially on modern cars. Strength is not an issue either. You’ll get plenty strong enough the same as any guy. Go for it!

Because some men don't think the same way as you. Some feel as women lack the capacity to learn and do just as good as men are capable of doing. That's why. I used to work with my dad as a kid and men would freak out to think I was allowed to do things as if it's unachievable.
@@Jbb435 i know...I figured that in this day and age it should actually be normal.. for alot of people it is.. for some it's a "novelty"... Not just a girl thing here, but I noticed most of the mechanics are wearing tennis shoes! In all my years working in dealerships and managing repair shops we were required to wear leather uppers and encouraged to wear steel toed shoes. That was an insurance regulation. Guess things have changed since I began working on cars in the mid 70s.
Oh definitely, I wore hiking boots when I first started wrenching because they were comfortable to me. It only took one brake rotor to fall on my foot before I smartened up and bought some Chippewas
Wearing boots is a huge pain in the ass, you need to be nimble and light on your feet working on some of these cars. I have always ignored the shoe rules. Being quick on your feet is almost as important as wearing heavy duty shoes.
@@v4lhulme I absolutely hate wearing boots when I'm working lol. i'm already tiny and dragging my feet around in a pair of work boots is so tiring but I'd rather be tired than out of work because i broke a bone from something falling on my foot.
I've been a mechanic for 25 years, something I've realized since is I couldn't care less if it's man, woman, teenager or elderly who works on my car as long as they care and know what they are doing. Who gives a rip that it's a woman working on your car or framing or plumbing?
Yep, it always comes down to the person actually doing the work. I hate it when ppl complain about a place they took their car to not realizing the place has little to do with it and rather it comes down to the person doing the work.
You'd be surprised. A lot of times it's because men weren't taught to not be dicks and when we try and 'branch out' into a male dominated field, we're treated like subhumans.
Awesome Awesome video I'm surprised that you get to record the daily routine in a dealership I think that's great that you get to your definitely in it to win it on the daily grind have a great week

I really have no other interest except for cars and I really want to go to trade school to become an auto mechanic but the stigma of a male dominant field is low key scaring me away. Just wanted to hear your thoughts about the industry and any advice you have:)
Go for it! Trades in general need to start recruiting more women. The stigmas need to end. Check out Mike Rowe's foundation Mikeroweworks. There are many great stories there of women becoming very successful in the trades.
Research, and think it very thoroughly. I'm not discouraging you because you're a woman because frankly anybody can do this. But, the industry favors managers, service writers, and the higher ups. The technicians are the working ants and usually work the hardest as well as get paid the lowest too! I left the industry to become a mechanical engineer and im much happier now even though I love fixing cars, the pay was horrible! The nice part is you can do your day job and fix your own cars or your family's cars on weekends and still get the same Joy. Good luck!
Im a heavy duty mechanic great job good to see women doing this no bullshit like o a girl mechanic but as a mechanic to mechanic great job 👍 do a toolbox tour

are you a mechanic or are you transitioning from lube tech because all the work you do is easy gravy work, some recalls and PDI's which lube techs normally take care of. Thank you. Didn't really have one, was always into cars so I decided to learn more and make it my career
@@turboglam excellent nothing like a woman's touch...
Hell yeah, killin it. This makes me want to record myself at work. Are you the only female at your dealership? I would love to hear what it’s like for you and compare notes. Keep on being awesome!
Thank you queen! I filmed all these clips on my old iPhone, just set it up on my box against my water bottle. You'll have a lot of footage to go through in the end but honestly I feel like it made me a better technician because I could critique myself. I left the dealership but I was the only girl in the shop. I couldn't be awesome without you girl! Much love ❤️
Tough work but i see that dedication i can tell you enjoy your work also thats awesome
Props for taking an automotive mechanic as a career! It's hard, rewarding work but you get treated like crap from customers who don't know what's going on the other side. I chose to be an industrial mechanic because you don't deal with customer service
I’m in high-school and go part time to a tech school for half the school day and the auto class is 19 guys and 1 girl everyone was skeptical the first but she proved herself and is good at the stuff. 🔧
I haven't been a formal mechanic in 20 years, but that on-the-car brake lathe is awesome. That would have been nice to have many years ago!
Is that what that was? I was wondering. Thx.
People won't remember the million things you do right. They always remember the one thing you did wrong.
You ever double gasket an oil filter
Did that at 13 I think and that's quite the memorable things you NEVER miss again.
Hmm im happy if you services my 07 Nissan versa hatchback with muffler and cold air intake 😊
Awwwww I love it!!! I want to work on my car but I run into a lot of push back from guys. I am starting a project car either way tho 🤷🏻♀️❤️
That's how guys are.. Thinking there better & that you cant do it. Forget the nonsense. You can literally do anything in this world that you truly are passionant about & truly want to do. Yes guys will try to discourage you but you got this. Dont let any one tell you that you cant because your a female. You can. Set your mind to it & you can. You gotta start some where. My self being in the automotive field for 13 years.. I started small.. Learned, watched others, videos, became very passionate about cars & how everything makes them work. You got this.. Go out & build the badest car on the road & how them fools that didn't believe in you that "you can" you got this 👍
Do it girl!! Work on your cars and build a project you love! Dont let small minded people get in the way of going after something you’re passionate about and interested in. You can fix absolutely anything you want, I know you can. I believe in you all the way queen 👑💖
Go for it!
Dont listen to them follow your passion!
I love it girl power all the way
This was a joy to watch! I’m impressed!
I have been a professional mechanic since 2005, started my career at a Mazda dealer and made my way around independent shops. I wish I had met a woman like you who was into the trade! None of my girlfriends ever took slightest interest in it. Idk why it is so one sided. Good for you making it at the dealer, I found it to be way too political. Was always happier at the mom and pop shops.
So happy I come across this, so nice to see your enthusiasm for the job

Wow awesome. Great to see a female mechanic. And a very pretty one to boot. 👍😉
Doing that dual image thing made me think there were twins of you working at the same place.
Copy paste hehe 😜
@NR Jacob THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID
Nice video! I have been wrenching for 20 years. I would highly recommend wearing safety glasses all of the time. It does not take much to scratch your eyes from dirt under a vehicle or a coworker from causing fluid or material flying your direction.
You're awesome. We need more girls like you!🔥🔧🔩⚙
We need more people like you because you're awesome too!! 💓
@@turboglam you should make a video of you doing a timing belt on a Nissan. That would be badass.
That feeing when you redo your alignment and it’s spot on is amazing lmao
Not sure why people are so impressed with the fact that a person who was trained to do a job.... can actually do the job....🤷♂️
Nice work....👍
Because some men don't think the same way as you.
But it shouldn't be hard to believe that most people (men and women ) have the capacity to learn...I feel that a woman being interested in learning to wrench is probably the novelty..not her ability to learn.....
You are a true professional. Love your videos
My buddys daughter is 16 already has a certification in diesel mechanic cause she knows the right people and now she’s a heavy diesel mechanic she’s damn good too . Sad to say but rebuilt the head and installed it on my cummins hahhahaha

So awesome seeing female auto technicians. Great job.

Love the video and I love working at Nissan! It really helped me as a steeping stone in my automotive decision. Keep up all the good work!
Thank you ❤️
Remember, you will learn more by your mistakes than you do by getting a job right, it sucks when you screw up, but those are just as important as getting a job right now in the first time, it’s gonna take you a while, but it seems as though you enjoy yourself, that’s all that matters, so who gives a damn what people think, good luck have fun, remember drive fast take chances

Did you do any mechanic courses in school or how did you get into it? Thinking of doing it myself
I had this question too
@@kawaiisenshi2401 it’s a shame she doesn’t seem to look at comments
hell yeah!!!! props to you!! not many females out there in the field never came across one myself. mad respect!!!
Wow this inspired me so much! I've been a labouer for three years and looking into automotive recently. What age did you decide to become a mechanic? I'm 21 and all over the map on what I'll decide for school! 😂
Go for it. I’ve decided if any trade is right for me, it’s ultimately the automotive service industry.
Id say do it. I made the mistake of not going to tech school. Right after highschool i worked at a brake/alignment/ tire shop for a bit but then got in to trucking. Im 25 about to turn 26, which is still young, but I feel like I'd be too old for tech school

So my lady has an inclination for using tools and she's super smart but after I changed the lil power steering grommet that goes bad on hyundai's she said she just wants to know how it works and hand me tools. I'm super pumped to see a not an old ass dude doing tech work. Keep it up and to everyone else support the girl that wants to do a trade dominated by men. Hell support guys that want to do predominately women led fields. Support doing what makes you happy F what anyone thinks.
You can buy steel toed trainers/ sports shoes
Oh definitely, I wore hiking boots when I first started wrenching because they were comfortable to me. It only took one brake rotor to fall on my foot before I smartened up and bought some Chippewas
Wearing boots is a huge pain in the ass, you need to be nimble and light on your feet working on some of these cars. I have always ignored the shoe rules. Being quick on your feet is almost as important as wearing heavy duty shoes.
@@v4lhulme I’d much rather wear heavy boots all day instead of breaking toes from heavy objects falling on my feet.
@@v4lhulme I absolutely hate wearing boots when I'm working lol. i'm already tiny and dragging my feet around in a pair of work boots is so tiring but I'd rather be tired than out of work because i broke a bone from something falling on my foot.
It’s great to see the way you bring it! Best wishes and keep developing new skills.
Thank you so much, sending all the love ❤️
You Are AMAZING !
And super cute too, keep up the great work💪👍

I've been a mechanic for 25 years, something I've realized since is I couldn't care less if it's man, woman, teenager or elderly who works on my car as long as they care and know what they are doing. Who gives a rip that it's a woman working on your car or framing or plumbing?
Exactly. There are many male mechanics who will never touch my car again.
Yep, it always comes down to the person actually doing the work. I hate it when ppl complain about a place they took their car to not realizing the place has little to do with it and rather it comes down to the person doing the work.
They shouldn't be
I wouldn't mind her working on my plumbing
You'd be surprised. A lot of times it's because men weren't taught to not be dicks and when we try and 'branch out' into a male dominated field, we're treated like subhumans.
Awesome Awesome video I'm surprised that you get to record the daily routine in a dealership I think that's great that you get to your definitely in it to win it on the daily grind have a great week
Thank you so much 💞
The youtube recommended has sent you a blessing 😂
😇😇😇
Respect for you👍. Not easy even to change and replace tyres. Some ladies can't remove a tyre from a car during tyre puncture.
Some men can’t replace tires either so what’s your point women do so far better work than men now on in days
Women!
Learn mechanics...
I cant stand seeing my local garages, especially at dealerships, charge THOUSANDS of dollars for simple repairs.
The elderly and females are such easy pickings for garages.
You're a amazing person! Very skillfull!
Its pure badass when a woman is a mechanic, just saying
im a former nissan tech for many years.. retired from it... and i miss it.. have over 200 plus alightments still have the sheets my copies lol to this day almost 20 years ago..i was doing it when the first gen electrics came out still have my uniform too
I’m 18 and worked on cars with my dad as a kid.
That’s some really good skills on operating and editing footage for TH-cam. I take it you don’t have to wear some kind of work boot?
I was thinking the same thing. She better not let life teach her a lesson, and get a safety shoe

I work as a detailer at a toyota dealership and I've always wanted to be a mechanic and the managers said I'd just have to talk to them to start online schooling and then get trained after and I'm so excited. I've always loved working on and fixing things, and I've always been an absolute car junkie, I drive an 09 impreza hatch which has been my dream car since I was 12. I have MAD respect for women mechanics, especially having to deal with dudes thinking you dont know what you're doing all the time.💀

are you a mechanic or are you transitioning from lube tech because all the work you do is easy gravy work, some recalls and PDI's which lube techs normally take care of. I didn't see any real diagnosis, no heavy line work, no warranty work, no a/c work etc. If you are mainline, i'm coming to work for your shop because with that kind of work people should be pushing at least 70 hours weekly.
