"Interesting"?? "Interesting"?? This is one of the greatest punk/new wave tracks in music history and it still melts my face 44 years later! I was 13 when this came out and I still crank it up loud at 57.
Cheers for the shout out :) Like most people my age, this was the first single and album I bought. I recommend checking out their pre pop stuff as well, Cartrouble part 2 is a classic.
So glad you guys are finally getting around to Adam and the Ants. They may not be the best band of all time, but they will always remain my favourite. Been fanatical about them since I was 10, in 1980, then got SO into their earlier punk stuff, which was an eye opener for a child of 10. Love it just as much today. I adore your channel too.
Adam And The Ants were massive in the UK in 1981, with two number one singles preceded by two that got to number two. They achieved this by becoming more pop-oriented than their early punk stuff. They were the first band that I was really 'into', albeit briefly!
Don't forget the album that gave this song its title, it was number 1 for 12 weeks, who else achieved that in the first half of the decade in the UK? NOBODY! not even close!
Ant Music, Stand And Deliver, and Prince Charming are other great tracks I remember from my first year at college! The Prince Charming video features actress Diana Dors - Britain's answer to Marilyn Monroe! The 18th Century highwayman look - think Dick Turpin - was very cool.
Yep ! Brill , Adam and the Ants were a breath of fresh air after Punk , It was fun to dress up when you went out ,rather than looking like a "Street Urchin" from a Dickens novel , Always enjoyed A and A , cheers ,
Cartrouble part 1 and 2. The original line up before before Malcolm McLaren persuaded the band to join Annabella Lwin in Bow Wow Wow and Adam Ant had to start again with new members. But it also meant that he got Marco Pirroni in the band

From the punk era , even though it was supposed to be 3 chords and 3 minutes , there were massive differences , in the bands and music , and Adam and the Ants did their own thing , though Kings of the wild frontier was as good as they got, i saw them supporting Siouxie and the Banshees in about 1978, not my cup of tea but certainly different the late 70s was really an explosion of diverse music,
Saw Adam Ant before he became famous and made this pop music.....he sounds like a male version of Susi Soux and the Bandshees.! His earlier stuff was more rock oriented especially his classics like ",Dutch Girls". When I saw him it was a freezing cold foggy midweek night and there was transport problems which made the attendance low. He walked around and talked to everyone before the show and thanked us for making the effort to get there on such a horrid night 👏👏top guy.
The drumming came directly from Burundi Black, (as told by Malcolm McLaren )(th-cam.com/video/QpcTCdJfEHk/w-d-xo.html) and was originally from Tambourinaires de Bukirasazi - Ensemble de Tambours Ingoma in 1967. Ant music is pretty cool and C30 C60 C90 go from bow wow wow is cool all about cassette recording off the radio which saved alot of money for many
Spot on McClaren fell out with Adam and just nicked the band . Kings and C30C60 have identical Burindi drumming. It eas a race to see who got in the charts Bowwowwow won this one
Great to hear The Ants from their excellent second album. I do like their earlier stuff mind you such as Zerox. And, as others have commented, the original musicians went to form Bow Wow Wow. I rate Anabella Lwin from BWW up there with Polystyrene. Could we have a review of BWW's Prince of Darkness, please?
