We hope you enjoy this episode of Initial Replays! Which song kickstarted your journey in music production, playing a musical instrument, or in mixing and mastering?
A wonderful discussion of an incredible song from an incredible and pivotal album. “Kings of the Wild Frontier” still manages to sound like nothing else all these years later, and I was so delighted to listen to you all giving this song the attention and respect it deserves. Cheers!
We just saw Adam Ant the other night 4/24/24 in Albuquerque and he was incredible. They opened with Ant Music and had two full drum kits and drummers and Two upright bass drummers with big drum sticks and it was thunderous. The thing I love about his songs are those melodies which take on an almost sinister or ominous tone of Western and Spy music.
Hi Sara & the Marvelous Team, This is a AWESOME eye opener & am so glad you started this series which will elevate the knowledge of us tiny producers around the Globe.... Many thanks for the initiative & Wish you the very best... Cheers ! :)
Great video! I loved all of those 80's bands- always remember hearing tracks like Going Underground for the first time on TOTP. Thursday night was a special time! It's nice now to see what made the productions work!
Your reaction/discussion and Sara's insight/breakdown of Kings of the Wild Frontier was something else. I LOVED IT! Hey, I still get GOOSEBUMPS listening to this song too! BTW....Went to see Adam Ant here in NJ last month. The show RAWKED! I hope you all get together again to react to more Adam Ant stuff. Also, would love to hear your thoughts/reaction on some of Devo's music.
Happy New Year and thank you for your episode. "kings..." and Adam &the ants is very special for me, it was great opening 2022 with some antmusic! Bonne année depuis le pays Basque!
First of all: If I had Saras voice, I would marry myself. There's a lot to be said about Adam. But I won't , except that I loved him. My sisters had the posters. From there I went to Soft Cell, Kissing The Pink, SPK, New Order, Joy Division, The Smiths, The Pogues, Einsturzende Neubauten, Nick Cave, Sisters of Mercy, The Triffids..and so on. Adam made me for the first time feel that I had discovered something that wasn't for everybody. Great reaction, thanks!
Fantastic video. Really inspirational. Lots of thoughts that echo my own about music, dynamics, lack of goosebumps etc… Sara is so articulate too. Thank you very much x
I really wish Sara would contact Adam an re-produce his album " Adam Ant Is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter". It has a lot of potential and needs some oversight. I really think with the right producers and support, he could re-release that one and it could be very interesting. She really gets the old great work he did, he needs an ally.

Dog Eat Dog on TOTP in 1980 was the kick start for me.
One of the most underrated albums ever. seriously
An absolute classic, still sounds amazing all these years later!
One of their finest songs, and one of the bravest bands of that era.
I can't wait to see Adam in concert soon. 🥳🥁🪘🛢️
Kings of the Wild Frontier is a fantastic album that sounds remarkable today

This album and the previous, Dirk wears white sox, still sound great
Yes, remember singing this on the school hockey pitch in the rain aged 12 🤔🤪😬🤣☺️

I saw him a few years back do this complete album when he toured with it. Amazing

Kings of the Wild Frontier was the first album I ever bought as a 5 year old kid. Magical. Ended up sharing a cab with Adam about 30 years later lol

Apparently, Mark Ronson plays Dog Eat Dog before every session. So there must be something in what they did back in 1980
Still sounds amazing
Its one of the greatest albums of all time.
Insane lack of recognition.
So, we have Malcolm McClaren to thank for Adam and the Ants.
I think the simplicity and styles are very much punk nod and a wink to sea shanties and raucous folk songs of English folk history.
Hello Sara I received your email, thank you for this super interesting video 😀🇫🇷🍀
A Great Album that never dates. I alway's thought there album was too clean, as live they were better. More raw with a heavy punk tone.
Why was the song skipping through and leaving out parts of the song? Copyright issues or editing for time? You truly messed this up badly!
Thanks for saving me time
Dirk needs an upgrade and a re release.
Most of the album is a load of old pump!
