I’ve started and am on day 5. Whew! They’re too small and consequently, I’m experiencing frequent breakage. I’m using a tooth pick while waiting on the comb you suggested from Amazon. This is certainly a daunting task, especially if you’re trying to preserve your hair. Yikes 😳
I’m not enjoying them anymore. I don’t feel good with them anymore. I’m really sad about it. But I want to just wear my hair short and natural. Since perimenopause, I just don’t want the amount of hair around my neck and ears. It’s feeling heavy and uncomfortable.
I'm taking mine down. I don't like the fact that a week after getting my retie, I have this puffy, soft, fuzzy new growth and my parts are almost nonexistent. Plus it's taking too long for my hair to fully loc. I'm over it! It's been since 2021 sheesh!
For some reason I like the fuzzy new growth look. It may be because I don’t like my parts showing or looking too “scalpy”. I’m curious to know how long it will take you if you take them down….That’s a lot!
Thank you for this video!!!! I want to take my sisterlocks out. I had a tramatic experience finding different stylist. I have different size locs and so many thinning locs. I just want to take them out. I'll get sisterlocks again after my hair regains strength. Maybe a year or so.
Hello 6 years in I tried to combine them. Now I’m needing so much maintenance with being on a fix in come. So I’ve been wearing then twist, braided styles and tried of the pulling. Thank you I’ll be getting that tool! ❤
Thanks for the tip. I have had my sisterlocs for almost 11 years, and I'm honestly just getting tired of them. I did have the intention of keeping them forever, lol but I think I'm just over them now.
I have had mine since 2009, and they grew to my knees. I cut them down to my shoulder and I am going to remove them. I have alopecia - the scarring type, so I can't do the retightening anymore. My scalp will do much better without someone pulling on my hair. So I am going to take down one lock a month until they are all out.
I have mine for over 13 years now, as I'm having trouble getting mine retighten I am thinking about taking them out, but I don't want to cut and lose my hair., So I'll try opening the locks, thanks for your video.
I want to take the front section down due to thinning and restart them a little larger. I've had sisterlocks for 7 years. I'd like to wear styles without worrying about how thin it is in the front. Thanks for the comb link. I was considering just cutting them and starting over, now I don't have to. 😊
I originally got my Sisterlocks installed over 10 years ago but cut them off because my hair started falling out and I got scared. I got them installed again 3 years ago but my hair texture has changed after having children. I hate that I have to be delicate with my locs and I can’t style them the way I thought I could. My scalp is constantly sore in between reties and I’m just over it
I am considering it because of cost. I love my locks but I am now on a fixed income and my care team wants me to cut my hair. My life needs to be easier as I age.
I am two years and seven months in .My hair came out around my edges due to my Loctician,, making them too tight, and it will not lock properly in the back my hair grow and they fall out. I know it’s my Loctician,, but I have not find anyone. That’s really good at it repairing and maintenance in my locks.
Thank you so much for this video. I have had my sisterlocks for 10 yrs, maybe 11, and I'm ready to take them down. I don't hate them but I feel like they are beginning to thin and I have had cases where some of them would pop right in the middle so that was my cue to take them out. Been thinking about it for a year now because I didn't know how to do it, I was at a point where I was ready to cut them out but not anymore, so thanks once again.
I want to take my microlocs out because my hair texture is real fine and soft and the slippage is discouraging I can get a re twist and 2-3 days later my edges are unraveled 😢
Same! But my hair isn't fine at all. It's thick but really soft. I've had 4 locticians since getting them in 2021, and they all have said the same thing.
I had a regular stylist (1st mistake) do my locks had major slippage. When she started my 1st retie put thread in my locks. On day 2 of scheduled retie, she ghosted me, left a message 8 days later, and said, "Let me check my calendar." Dropped her. Stylist 2 (another mistake) he finished the retie and tried to take the threads out. Went to a consultation with "Sisterlock loctian" I went in with the question should I restart? Especially after she said I had microlocks because of the different sizes of the locks.. and the soft texture of my hair... Last retie was in May scheduled for next week but I have
I’m considering removing my locs after 20+ years because I’ve transitioned a lot out of my life since I got them and I want something new. Natural hair styles are more “accepted” in corporate than they were when I loc’d and I actually have the time and money to re-learn my loose hair than fussing with it back then. Plus, menopause and sweats make having a lot of hair on my head and neck unbearable. That’s what will probably make my decision for me 😅
I'm taking my sisterlocks down because my consultant won't fix the bunching and holes, which will create a bigger problem later on. Also, no one wants to take on her work, and it's only been 3 months since it was installed.
I love my locs, but I'm considering taking them down because 1) I miss twisting my loose hair and 2) my shed hair is very visible; I'm kind of bothered by the little white bulbs you can see throughout. Any advice or suggestions?
I had that same issue! I ended up dyeing my little white bulbs 89: Dyeing My Sisterlocks - How I Got Rid of the White Bulbs in My Locs!!! #microlocks #sisterlocks th-cam.com/video/nO1fLZNM5yU/w-d-xo.html
For 20+ years, I’ve used a rinse or an organic demipermanent color to keep the buds at bay. I hate them, too…made my hair feel dirty even though I knew it wasn’t.
I’m contemplating taking mine down because when my hair starts growing you don’t see my grid it’s frizzy and I don’t like how it looks when I pin it up. Don’t get me wrong a fresh retie and I love them up in a bun gorgeous. Once it starts growing it’s a wrap. Also my hair was s thinning in the front and I’m not liking the look. Any suggestions…
I have very small traditional locs of different sizes; some of which are micro/sisterloc sizes… I am combing them out and documenting it. Honestly after 12 years, I’m just ready for a change. This video was so helpful!! I was STRUGGLING with the small locs and just cutting them off! (I have tailbone length loose hair once the loc is combed out so it was upsetting!)
Thanks for this video!! 👍🏾👍🏾 for the past 2 weeks, I have been taking down my microlocs, this is year 2024 is year 2, I’m going to redo them some are off in size. After I take them out I wanna show my hair some much needed love and care. Plus no more dyeing my gray hairs, my hair is now in much better condition. My sister who is not a loctician nor a stylist started it, I didn’t have any idea of caring for it, plus I was dyeing it myself, long story short, with the dry issues and initially not doing the daily maintenance which I had no clue about, I didn’t like it and instead of keep on griping about I, I have decided to do something about it. I do have a loctician now she has started the repair process on my hairline and the nape of my neck…. So excited to redo it after I have taken the majority out. I plan to leave the fine ones cause I had to pull one out and I was tempted to cut it off 😅😅 the not no fine ones are easier to pull out. I’ve been using safety pin and my thumb suffered and is suffering. 😩 I tried the rat tail comb that didn’t work. I have been saturating my hair with lots of conditioner and water. To protect my thumb I wear a band aid on it and wear gloves. I will try the flea comb. Thanks!! Your hair looks great!! 👍🏾👍🏾❤️❤️
I don’t think it was done right. There are a lot of knots in my hair. I had the two strands method done but it’s off. I have a curly texture of hair sort of.
I want to take out my locks because I’ve had them for 8 years almost nine and I’m ready to try something new and I can’t get rid of the dandruff in my hair
Heyyy, I wanna take mine out. Start over with my natural state. They double triple ended, tangled somehow, some very micro some different sizes..what type conditioner do you recommend for take out?
I want to take mine down because I moved from New Jersey to a very small city called Abilene Texas and I just can't find a good Loctician around me. I have to travel 3 hours just to get my hair done and my patience is wearing thin. I have to take mine down.
Oh that stinks! I’m guessing you don’t want to try to self retie. I considered doing my own hair briefly but I think it would take a very long time to retighten my locs by myself.
I have over processed mine and the shedding is nonstop as well. I have tried trimming them as well but it continues to shed! So I’m going to just get the big chop!
I'm choosing to take down my sisterlocs due to cost. It's too expensive to keep up
Me too! Can't keep up with the price. It's a bill.
It's an insurance payment at this point!

I've had mine for over 9 years, the lint is irritating, and so much dust.
I have micro locs that was started with twist and it’s too much bundling and I don’t like them. I may restart them with interlocking.
I have mine for over 13 years now, as I'm having trouble getting mine retighten I am thinking about taking them out, but I don't want to cut and lose my hair., So I'll try opening the locks, thanks for your video.

was not put in correctly
I wanted sister locks but once I saw how they’re installed I decided to get retwist instead.
I want them out cause my hair has become thinner I've been growing them for 2 1/2 years

Shedding ,thinning and losing locs I have had them 11years and they are a mess now...
Oh no! This is my concern. I’ve been researching the ways to prevent this from happening over time.
Same here and I’ve only had them for three years 🤦🏽♀️
I want to take out my locks because I’ve had them for 8 years almost nine and I’m ready to try something new and I can’t get rid of the dandruff in my hair
I am considering because I have thyroid issues and it's causing breakage
i am taking mine down i have different sizes and a week after I retie my hair its fuzzy and my parts are nonexistent and I am only 9mts in😪
I want to take mine down bc my hair is so thin in the middle it doesn’t look good
For those of you who’ve had them for years how long did it take you to take them down.
Ready for a change. 5 Years in and ready to change up to different styles.
Photos of people with sister rocks for 10 years

Thanks for responding! I think any conditioner will do… anything slippery to help the comb go through the hair will work!

and please subscribe 😅
My hair is coming in the top where it was thin and I think its only going to get worse
I wonder can you space out your reties to give it a chance to grow in some?
Thanks for the info! Bless you sis❤
You are so welcome 🙏🏽
After I dyed my locs , my hair shedded none stop
Oh my goodness! I’m curious now - what type of dye did you use?
I have over processed mine and the shedding is nonstop as well. I have tried trimming them as well but it continues to shed! So I’m going to just get the big chop!
