Welcome to another Episode of Ross Reviews AU on this weeks Video we take out Australia's new Toughest dual cab off roading and really see just how good these utes are from factory! This 2020 Ford Ranger Raptor is nearly totally factory & with its Fox Racing Suspension it's truly one of the best off road utes from factory on the market..

For what you have to pay, I would preferred a performance enhanced 3.2 5 pot. No substitute for cubes.....
I reckon they could have at least done something like that 100% the 2L diesel is just to small

Great video. As usual.
I’ve driven the raptor. It’s very underwhelming. It’s big. It looks kinda cool. But it’s weak. It has a transmission with 184 million speeds. It compensates for a big engine with noise played through the speakers in the cabin to make it sound bigger and tougher to the people inside (always helps a car dealer).
The only truly impressive part of this vehicle is the suspension. It really is great for stock.
The American raptors are the only thing worth buying though. This raptor is Barbie dressed up as Ken.

I driven Hummer 2, Cadillac Escalade, Ford Thunder Bird, Expedition , a bulletproof Suburban and Ford Excursion in the States and they were fun to drive because they are big and powerful. But, this Ranger Raptor for me is already satisfying and fun to ride and drive especially here in Asia. I owned and sold not just 200 different kinds of automobiles since 2008 and by far this is my choice of ute or car to drive everyday.

There is a fella on the east coast that has a 2wd ranger (mini truck) fitted with a Barra turbo it’s pretty impressive. Good to see a 4bie on ya channel. Be good to see more 4bies in the future 🤙

With a completely new Ranger design just around the corner, and apparently the Raptor is coming with a 3.0V6TTD, you’d quickly regret paying top dollar for an underpowered last hoorah of a nearly 10yr old model…
Let’s hope that actually happens 🙏 have only heard rumours so far.. I know America is looking to get this model I think with the TT6 let’s hope Australia gets it also it would really make it a better package
Hi Ross, is the 3.2L engine an optional? Can't understand why Ford isn't placing the "BARRA" 4.0L engine into the Ranger's, it's a proven unbreakable engine. Add a turbo charger to the Barra engine and it may become dangerous unless more stability work done. Don't think many farmer or country driver's would prefer larger motor, "Barra". Alas, it is what it is. Loved the video.
Unfortunately they only come in 2L diesels… would have been so Australian to give it a Barra eh🇦🇺👌
@@RossReviewsau Yes that would be fantastic especially with fuel economy of a large engine in a mid size Ranger/Ranger Raptor. Don't know why ford Australia is reluctant to insist on a Barra especially when other manufactures are going to bigger motors. Ford's Ranger range of vehicles, especially if they come with a Putt Putt motor will most likely lose market position especially to Toyota Hilux. Goiunstoppable

Nice to see alternatives on your vids Jono the raptor does look good I believe the rangers in general are better looking, you need two vehicles one of these to tow and go off road and the other a barra turbo for the street life is good

Why do people bash the engine in these? the bi turbos are actually very good, the smaller towing and payload numbers is the result of the raptors fox suspension, it’s not designed for towing and carrying shit, it’s literally designed for driving off road at high speed
its "good" off road.. but on the highway its not enough.. and being a BIG Raptor i just would expect a bigger engine to go along with it..
enjoyed the review bro really like these trucks , just wish it had the power.

I think if you take off the KO2 tyres it might change how it accelerates. Id downgrade from the 285/70/17 to 265/70/17

I saw on a wheels magazine cover a couple years ago the ford ranger with a mustang 339kw engine in it. Still waiting...

It’s true so many utes all running the same old small diesels 🥲 really hope the come out with a new engine soon for this model
They're actually amazing engines for off roading. Which is what these cars are really for

Hi Mate,yeah for what it was made to do it's great,suspension is epic & the gadgets are nice,but why didn't they have at least a V8 let alone a Barra turbo,I don't think the people that buy them are worried about fuel prices hey lol,you review the best variety of cars man it's F%# amazing Johnny & I liked that lil bit of humour you threw in there also hahaha.
My thoughts exactly really should have had a more lively engine.. or at least given the option to spec it that way.. glad your enjoying the variety pete:)
My brother in-law has one of these bad boys and it’s never had dirt on the tires, same with my bosses hilux.
thats a shame.. tell him he needs to be like the owner of this one.. he was so keen to get it dirty! lol i was avoiding puddles and he was like SEND IT! lol
IMO, you don't need hp so much, you need torque, especially in 4WD, and you don't always want to go fast when 4wdriving anyway, slow and steady is the go.
Your dead right off the road it was great plenty of go.. all you need but on the road it did feel very sluggish more so than other utes I’ve driven.. that was only the real negative for me

Raptor would have to be the best name for a car especially if ya a Jurassic Park nerd like myself I'm surprised Ferrari or Bugatti didn't take that name years ago. Should of jumped it like in the add!! Good to see some more off road rigs hit the channel.

i drove one did not like it powerwise THEN i drove an amarok v6 this thing will absolutly blow the doors of any ranger even with a 2.5 tonne caravan behind it and it comes standard rear disc brakes and it.s cheaper
the amarok is the fastest dual cab i belive on the market here.. im planning to review one soon

Ford missed an opportunity with the Raptor to stick one right up Toyota, the vehicle looks the part, off road it's great but on road Performance is lacklustre and those silly mags that stick out past the tire just get destroyed off road, still compared to the ugly Hilux Rugged X priced at $75,960, the Raptor seems like a bargain for a much better vehicle.

not so sure those 2.0l are running 29psi boost from factory highly strung little diesel i hope rumours are true and 2022 raptor comes with 3.0 powerstroke that would be a nice fit
Landcruisers easy to work on, not when you have to change the starter motor on a V8

These things are the biggest scam going. I got a px2 with every single option with 45000km for $48k. Bigger wheels 2”lift front bar winch rear bar rock sliders canopy roofrack uhf 2nd battery drawers in the canopy oil catch can fuel pre filter. I’ve probably missed a few things but all that on a raptor would put it well over $100k. Joke
Yes if you do all that on the raptor its going to get crazy expensive and yes, it's an expensive thing to start off with but you literally wouldn't need to do a thing on it. As John says "I can't think of anything better... you don't need to do anything", there is solid reasoning behind why he says this too. So in my opinion, it's well worth the coin its demanding
i get your point of course Rusty.. but you sound like you got quite the deal on that ute! 48k plus all them mods! (before covid?) you would be lucky to get a bog standard on for that money judging by carsales at the moment.. the thing about the raptor is you dont need to do much to at all.. besides you roof rack n front bar if you want one.. the Fox suspension is why you buy this vehicle nothing else.. i agree tho the price is to high for having only a 2.0l engine
