We had the best holiday that we’ve ever had last year in Rhodes. What an amazing place. It has something for everyone. The people are so friendly, the food is great, lots of history to explore, beautiful scenery inland too. Would love to return.
My son and his fiancée are there right now as I write, 12th Sept 2020.... They are loving it, sending back lots of photos and videos, and I am very jealous. This is their first ever trip abroad and they mentioned how friendly everyone is there. You have a beautiful home sir. 😊🇬🇷🙏
Just came back from Rhodos yesterday. I loved Old Rhodestown, but I couldn't get over how many people were paying more attention to the shops then to the medieval bldgs themselves and all the old winding alleyways. Mandraki was really hopping at night! Take the sunset cruise if you can. Worth it!
Our 1st holiday together was Rhodes 5 years ago, said if we are still together in 5 years we would go back! Back 5 weeks from our 2nd visit, booked again today for next spring, its wonderful, video was very relaxed i loved it, thank you.
I had my first visit in 1982 and I have been back 4 times. The last time was in 2014 and I noticed there are more moped riders on the streets of the old town than I could bear. I am now almost 78 so I doubt I will get the chance to visit again. The best year for me was before Greece joined the EU, so 1982.
Thanks for the video- would love to see some more. Can you suggest best local cafes and tavernas/restaurants to visit for great greek food in Rhodos? :)
Dimitris - Hi - I first stayed in Rhodes in the old town 35 years ago & been back 3-4 times since. Its the most wonderful place on earth - Lindos - petaloudes valley, Ixia, Trianta, Kalithea, Prasonisi, etc etc - so now I am old I would love to rent long-term or buy in the medieval old town to live there permanently or nearly so - do any places in the old town ever become vacant? There are not many advertised. thanks & best wishes. ian
The best way to buy in the old town is to keep looking on the net, or find a good real-estate agent. Keep in mind that the old town is much more expensive.
My famililey has ben there 24 yeats in a rom and we have friends that owns a restaurant called castello house in the old city and its a very beautiful country😀😅
l really love Rhodes .. ''in a Greek coffee house you ll order a Greek coffee in a Turkish cofffe houseyou ll order a Turkish coffee in both however you ll get the same thing'' ahah
@@mette-louisemeng772 Just got back from there, everything is open, lots of tourists but I haven't been before now so I don't have anything to compare it to.
It is a truly beautiful place with so many things in its favour, but the disguarded rubbish is ruining the ambience. The authorities should do more to keep Rhodes town clean. More bins, please. I don't want to see plastic bottles adrift at sea.
Can't find anywhere. What are the basic behavior rules? Smoking, drinking on the streets, being loud, dresscode. Do's and Don'ts? Don't wanna look like an ass when I go there with friends in a few months :D And after a rough year it will be our first get together party time :D
There are no specific behaviour rules, Mediterranean (Greeks) people are loud and spontaneous! 😄 You just have to be respectful, and everything will be fine! :)
It's already Greek and Italian 🇬🇷🇮🇹 since ottoman were a thing. Just because 3 mosques exist in the island doesn't mean we can't burn them which still is a big possibility.
Rhodes is the most beautiful place I have ever viisited..and ive been almost everywhere...would live there in a heartbeat. Spectacular.
I don't know if there is any place in Greece better than Rhodes. I visited it 2 times, it is so beautiful. Im in love with it.

Been 8 times and I ABSOLUTELY love this island

Watching this a day after we went old Rhodes town and we went to the Turkish bar for a few drinks. I know how to spot a good bar!
Thank you! Looking forward to my first visit in just a week. 😊
Visiting Rhodes next week. Cannot wait. Spending 10 days there and going to hire a car to drive around. Great quick video. Thank you very much ! 😊

Sorry for the wrong prnounced Words
Rhodes is not country. Is an island of Greece. 😊
@@mathiasgreeen5826 Yes I know that restaurant, the owner Stavros is related to me 😀
@@Σουξουμουκουτου ops sorry 😅
@@pittassavvas7512 oh cool 😄👍
It will be always Greek coffee and in my case Serbian coffee, evrething else is possible but in Asia 😉 Beautiful Rhodes😍
Do you have to pay to use those chairs and umbrellas or are there any beaches there that aren’t polluted with them?
What is the best beach to visit for a day trip?
You forgot to go to Lindos. I think it is the best!!!

There seems to be many people/tourists. When was the video recorded?
Before the corona pandemic last summer.
DW Travel I figured😊 do you have a status report from July 2020? Are tourists trickling back? Are cafes and restaurants open?
@@mette-louisemeng772 most of it is open but very quiet. Many hotels are closed and those that are open have a 10-20% at capacity.
@@mette-louisemeng772 No, sorry.

Are there any bookstores that sell English books?
You could visit the store called "Public". They do sell books in English.
Really good video thank you. We actually just went there and recorded a video check it out
Found this city name on Medieval Total War 2 lol

How christian are the Greek Island people?
Wow Rhodes is my surname very weird 😅
☀️👍❤️✈️😎

Rhodes isn't what it was, it has collapsed under the weight of mass tourism and is forever despoiled. Go there fifty years ago.
Time Maschine unfortunately in the garage right now.. 😉
its still my favourite place ever - after 67yrs on this planet 😁
Went with Gregory Travel the worst experience, rude, excursions overpriced, manager such sn arrogant prig...
I get why people love this island so much, but to me it will never be a true Greek island with all the Turkish influence.
It's already Greek and Italian 🇬🇷🇮🇹 since ottoman were a thing.
Just because 3 mosques exist in the island doesn't mean we can't burn them which still is a big possibility.
50 traditional Greek villages in the island with 2500 years of history and five ottoman buildings in Rhodes town. Turkish influence, really?
Place is awful for pet lovers . I have never seen so many abandoned cats and dogs like on this island. And society do nothing about it. Scary
it is the same thing since it is a Turkish coffee.
Either these people or those living close to Macedonia or Bulgaria are not Greek. They don't look alike, even remotely.
Turkish island
And then you wake up 😉👍
Rhodes 🇬🇷🇮🇹❤️
Never was and will never be
