    I cant believe how far for budget friendly guitars have come. When I was a kid you couldnt get a good cheaper instrument like this. Now I can't speak to the build quality since I havent played them. Ive seen specs like this on $1600+ guitars.

    That intro track was killer
    I prefer the Baritone one because of the longer scale (which is not a must to sound good, but still), also because, unless you want to use the 7 strings for chords, a baritone offers the same thing, but minus 5 frets. I mean, you only lose the 5 higher notes on the 1st string from the 7 string, but I don't need that.

    I bought a B-stock Amarok-6 about six months ago, and overall I'd say you get pretty much what you pay for. The guitar allegedly features some high-quality specs, however, besides a middle-end craftmanship, I have encountered a major problem; the hipshot bridge lost its coating so fast and became fully corroded, if you ask me I'd say that it is a low-quality bridge. Makes you wonder about the true quality of the other specs...

    I had to send my Baritone back as the intonation was impossible to get. I'm not the only person who had the same problem. I think the bridge was not centered correctly. Pity as it was a great guitar to play. I might get another one in a year when they fix their issues

    The specs of the 7 string come very close to a Kiesel I want to build later e.g. the 14inch radius, neckthrough, in line reversed headstock, thicker neck, dual truss rod, multiple piece neck, graphtech nut, dual humbuckers, hard taile bridge, locking tuners and 25.5 inch scale. I only would choose other tone woods and change the position of the knobs/switch. So to get somewhat of an idea how the Kiesel will feel like I better first buy a (second hand) HB before ordering an expensive build that I have no idea of if I would like it or not feelwise

      The biggest problem for HB is that they're only available at/from Thomann. They can't sell through someone else because the way they keep the prices so low is because because it is their own brand. This adds shipping cost, shipping time (outside of Europe), and it means nobody can experience them without going to their little town in Germany, unfortunately. A lot of people seem very putoff by those 3 things. Plus there's always going to be people that won't buy a house-brand. Same reason people buy name brand things at the grocery store, rather than the Walmart brand for half the price on the same shelf. That kind of mentality tends to be even stronger when it comes to more expensive things like instruments. Lots of people will always perceive cheap as "low quality" as well.

    • @alexr71
      @alexr71 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@niclastname Times have changed, and we are realizing it now that, due to the pandemic, all music stores are closed.
      As happened with record stores over ten years ago, now only those who have managed to keep up with the times, and reinvent themselves on the internet, have survived.
      I don't criticize Thomann or the fact that they sell online; I criticize the music stores that failed to diversify the business and ignored what was going on.
      Right now I prefer to buy an Harley Benton from them, rather than spending 800 euros more to buy a product from a physical store that has the same characteristics with a different brand.
      In the worst case, I can return it free of charge, waiting for a flawless guitar.

    • @alexr71
      @alexr71 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@niclastname And, BTW, to be honest, if I really had to buy something other than a HB guitar, being in Italy I would buy an Eko guitar.
      They are well built and have a fair price.
      Reborn from ashes (after their golden age in the '60-'70) under the guidance of Massimo Varini (one of the most famous Italian guitarists in the world), those guitars are at least worth a try.

I was going to take the trip to Thomann and choose one in person (none of the flaws identified during the reviews are deal breakers, but try before you buy, right?). Shame they are currently unavailable... Thomann is expecting a new shipment around mid August, they said.

      @@fredriksvard2603 that is why I typed 25.5 is too short for a 7 string unless you are using an Evertune. Even then I prefer the sound of the addition inch of wood that the 26.5 offers over the 25.5. The other issue with Evertune is string gauges. I use 11-52-70, and ET's do not work with the 70. It's too much tension, especially in Drop D A7, Drop G, and Drop C G7.

I'd look into a solar or ltd with evertune myself, but this is just me guessing really.

    A way around the lower scale length of the 7 string variation is to put a bit of a thicker guage of string on it. Going up one guage set shouldn't affect your tuning stability or the need of a modified nut.

    Great channel, but Harley Benton is only sold through Thomann. If you are in the US and you have an issue, you’ll pay more than what you save to get it resolved. Never deal with Thomann if you live in the US. It’s a risk you can’t afford.

    Yeah... no. I love Harley Benton. I got two and I'll get many more. But 499/549/599 € is no more great value. If you look around, you can get an Ibanez Prestige (made in Japan AND with a hard case) for a little more than 700 €. Different styles, I know. But I don't see the value here. So... Amarok gets a no from me.
