@@straybenzes thank you so much for this video I have 1989 420sel I love this car how I love your Channel I replace the sensor then the oil gauge work very well now thank you so much✌....
I replaced the oil pressure sending unit and the gauge worked properly. It was at 0 when I turned the key on and went to 3+ when I started the engine. I let it run for ten minutes then shut it off. I turned the key on again and the gauge pegged out at 3+ again, and I went back on forth with the key off and on. Soon as key is on gauge pegs out at 3+ with the key on. So, it is back to working the way it was before I replaced the sending unit. So, I am back at square one. Any ideas?
There are two possible causes: either your new sensor is also bad (that is highly possible) or you have a break in the brown0green wire somewhere toward the instrument cluster. Most aftermarket sensors are of questionable quality. Good luck.
Is that with the original OEM part or after replacing it with an aftermarket one? If it is the former that would be a little disconcerting as this could be a symptom of e.g. hydraulic lifters or other components being worn. If it is the latter then I would say it is the replacement sensor acting up.
loved the Vid just bought a 1991 560SEC very good condition, like looking at vids to help me work on a couple of things. Wish i could send you my car to work on :). Would you happen to know any good mechanics around the Atlanta Ga area.
Thank you! I would recommend hitting up the folks at the MBCA Peachtree section. They are very active and should know someone they can recommend for certain. Shops and mechanics who can work on these older cars are becoming increasingly rare. www.mbcapeachtree.com/wp/
With a warm engine the oil pressure is around 1 Bar at idle and then goes up to 3 Bar at around 2000RPM. With a fairly cold engine the oil pressure can reach as high as over 2 Bar at idle.
@@straybenzes dude I fucking love you I went to the store today and I checked it when it’s in park 3 bar when I go in to drive it’s drops to almost 1 bar (say 1 1/4 -1/3 then goes up as I gas up but she will stall if I hit the gas to fast it’s my first car had her about 3-5 years now best car ever to me but thank you I was worried no one wld reply for a while
Nice video! Love Every upload ! Can you please do a video on how to repair the mirror insert for the sun visor. I’ve been through about 5 of them. The small plastic hinge pieces always break and the cover can’t be attached so I’ve been finding ones on eBay or at the junkyard and swapping out just the insert and I even tried using super glue and baking soda to repair the hinge but it isn’t working too well. Someone else must have this issue. Best regards . Also where are you from?
Thank you! Yeah, that plastic tends to totally dry out and break really easily. I have managed to salvage around four of them. I did the last two so well that I cannot get the insert to come out without risking breaking it again. At the moment I do not have any inserts lying around, but if I get another one to show up I will attempt making a video out of it. Good luck in the meantime.
I think what I was thinking was low oil pressure what’s just the oil gage between 1-2 bar till I hit the gas but I think you answered my problems with the EHA with the stalling when I gas up but I will say such a great car very safe very reliable easy to work on thank you for all you help ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks! Keep the Videos coming. I have an 87 420 SEL. We need to keep these beautiful cars running and on the road.
Indeed! Thanks and good luck as well.

@@yousifyousif8659 Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Thanks for all these videos. I'm working on my own 1990 420SEL and you always seem to have a relevant upload!
Oh wow. Thanks for the feedback. There are more to come soon.
Thank you for including the resistance value. Thats the main thing i was looking for. 3:28
Glad it helped!
Ralph, always great content. Many thanks. Jim
Thanks, Jim.
I use my trash can as a mobile paint booth. Who knew it could be an electrical test station too! Great tip!
LOL! Yes, I used mine for many a small paint repair job and other "workbench" type jobs.
Thank you.. I have the same problem with my w124 with m111 engine. And this really helps.
So glad to see that it helped you
My W126 started doing that lol 😂 its a headache fixing it regularly but i love it
There is never a shortage os something that needs maintaining on 30+ year-old cars. All the best.
Well you dodged a bullet there Ralph! Lol. Good call.
Yup. I do not remember a time that I got this lucky.
Great video!
Thank you!

Lets keep em going and keep.the parts demand up so Benz or aftermarket will keep making parts
That is certainly an approach.
any idea what causing this? oil pressure unstable, up and down moving...

what spark plugs for 89 420 sel
Non resistor ones are the best, but they are really difficult to find.
What colour is the plug wires
For the oil pressure sensor it is brown-green.

Hmm. Oil pressure depends on a lot of variables. Was the oil, operating temperature, and engine speed identical?
