Hi Ralph, I enjoy your videos, this didn't work for me any ideas what could be the issue? Regards.
Amazing, thanks for the tutorial, wholesome too
I have a 1984 500 sec and the passanger seat stoped working. what do you think the problem is.

I have heat but i can't get the fan to blow.. the only time it will blow is on a cold morning at first start and only for about 30 seconds and then it will not not blow again
That is either the blower motor needing new carbon brushes or it is the motor resistor. The motor is most likely it.

Cool! Thank you.
Hello friend, greetings from Spain, with a 1990 560 SEL. The heating and air conditioning have always worked perfectly in these 12 years with the car. As you know, the 560 has a preheater as standard (I understand it is a thermal resistance type) that despite having cold antifreeze because you have just started the engine, if you select maximum heat in the climate control, hot air comes out almost instantly and yet you have the engine temperature completely cold. It's great. The fact is that yesterday, that option did not work for me nor the normal heating with the engine hot, only warm ambient air comes out. The air conditioning works well. I suspect that either the ECO push button or the other directional distribution buttons are failing or the temperature selector wheel itself does not order that valve to close the circuit more or less for more heat. Now that you explain those initial steps to review, I'm going to do it and in a few days I'll tell you. Thank you very much!!!
The US version did not have that option. If it is electric then you can start tracing power to it. The temp dial is rock solid. I would look for the simple stuff first. The aux water pump behind the removable fire wall can sometime lock up and if you are unlucky they have been known to fry the controller. Good luck!
@straybenzes Thank you very much for your advice. I didn't know that in the USA there was no pre-heating option (I understand that mine must have one because as soon as I turn on the V8 in winter, after 15 seconds I have hot air and obviously it's not coming from the engine because it's not warmed up yet). I will investigate the power supply to the pump and valve. I must also say that my car doesn't have the famous additional programmable Webasto heater. That was optional on the 560.
I`m working on a SL 350 V8 and I have a problem with cylinder no 4. makes a ticking noise, something like the diesel injectors do when the copper seal goes bad. New spark plugs, changed the lead, cleaned the distributor cap. When idling if I remove the lead to the No4 spark plug the ticking/puffing disappears. Could it be the injector seal that went bad?
Hmm. I seriously doubt that's a seal problem. Tough to diagnose from remote. What is the compression on this engine? Ok?
Hey brother thanks for the video. I'm rebuilding my own injectors but I don't have a spare injector line to attach to. Do you mind sharing the thread size of the injector hard line on both ends?
That would be M12 x 1.5
Will they work in a 190e?
Yes and that is assuming that no one messed with the original set up.
@straybenzes thank you. No, I'm trying to keep everything original except lights

New belt , New tensioner squik at all times all bearings are good , I have played with the tension (from hard to soft ) still squiking , I don't know that to do anymore , I do not know the state of the damper , could that be? , but I don't know
You can use a strobe light to figure out if the dampener has an issue. Extreme misalignment is rare but possible. The other thing to look out for is to make sure each pulley is easy to spin. Unusual load can cause belt squealing.
Excellent! I can always rely on your videos as they are well explained with real life experiences on what's to follow.
Thank you very much.
The car doesn’t start early in the morning on rainy days. M102 mator w201
Well, that could be caused by a multitude of reasons. From afar this sounds electrical related, but it is all but impossible to diagnose from a remote location.
good job, tnx.
Glad it helped
Thanks for the tip! Had the same problem with my 2.3 16V.
Glad it helped.
Hi Ralph, did you know the bolt size or part number from the tensioner (top one that screw into the aluminium block)
That's a M8 by 25 or 30mm screw with a 13mm hex head. Best, Ralf

Hi, I have a 1994 e320. Have similar issue, but I believe my car has a different system isn’t it? Any advice for that model?
That model should still have the KE Jetronic injection system installed. 1996 came with big changes as OBDII made its debut on all cars.

The other day, I drove my 1988 420 SEL in very hot weather and parked it in the sun for about 40 minutes. When I went to start it, the car wouldn’t crank or make any noise when I turned the key. The accessories were working fine, and the battery is brand new. After an hour, it started as usual. What could be the issue, and is there a video about it? Thanks for the videos.
I could be wrong, but these are the symptoms of the starter contactor going bad. If that happens again take a multimeter and measure the voltage on the violet/white wire on the motor starter relay if it shows 12v when you have someone turn the ignition switch to start. If there is power the starter will need freshening up. If there is no voltage it can be the starter lockout switch attached to the tranny shifting mechanism. You will need to safely jack the car up to get to that stuff. Good luck.
Just found your channel because i was searching for W126 advice and repair info. I've briefly looked over your playlist and you seem to cover alot of material on this channel. I too love Kent Bergsma's "Mercedes Source" but alot of his repairs get closely. Your channel will compliment his in that regards and i personally thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I personally love the 300SDL and 350SDL cars for their 6 cylinder diesels. Nice to see one previewed.
Thank you!
Good information, thanks! I am wondering if this might be a cause of the loud "CLUNK" and jerking when shifting from Drive to Reverse on a 1985 380SL. It does not happen when shifting from Drive to Park, or from Park to Drive. And it doesn't happen all of the time. I was told it is vacuum-related and a standard transmission servicing won't solve it. Thank You!!
Thanks! That can indeed be the modulating valve on the drivers side of the gearbox. At the same time it can also be a few other things like clogged screens/passages in the shifting block within the gearbox. Good luck!
Which website has this information?
Hi there. I put them into the video description. Here is one of them: www.benzworld.org/attachments/mercedes-code-descriptions-pdf.454999/

Hi @straybenzes, I have a 1991 300 CE 24v. It revs fine when it's cold, but when it gets hot, it starts hesitating and lacks power at low revs, although it drives fine at higher revs. Could this be the cause of the issue? I added fuel cleaner yesterday and drove for an hour, and the problem nearly went away. But when I started the car an hour later, the issue came back.
Usually it is the other way around with the EHA aging it tends to cause stalls or no power when cold that gets better as the engine warms up. This could also be the idle mix screw needing adjustment. Did anyone mess with that lately?
@straybenzes I tried adjusting that, but it didn't make a difference-maybe I did something wrong. I'm experiencing a lot of misfiring, and when I press the accelerator halfway down, nothing happens right away. After a few seconds, the power kicks in again. I'm planning to check the fuel filter and pump maybe that's the issue. It's like I lose power if I press the pedal too hard or too quickly.
@@nicholasmablad2019 yeah that does not sound good. If the idle mix adjustment does not alter engine rpm than there may be other things going on with the fuel system. Start from the tank all the way to the injection system. Measure fuel pressure and differential pressure while you are at it. If the car sat for a while make sure to check the tiny filter in the fual distributor fuel intake. Good luck.
Thank you for these videos. Very helpful
Thank you!

Hi i have w126 M103 what is the reading on cam sensor ? And what it means if there's no reading at all? Thanks
For the crank shaft sensor it is 800 ohm to 1200 ohm. Set your meter to 1K Ohm and bolt the sensor back in place. You measure from the end of the coaxial wire where it plugs into the EZL. For the cam shaft one I am at a loss as I am not aware there being one for the 03 from 86-90.
I put new alternador but no charge the battery I have a mercedes w126 1990 350SDL 1990
Is the battery ok? Was this a brand new alternator or refurbished one? What is the voltage before start and during engine idle?
Same basic layout as my W124 230E. My AUX fan fuse blows after a few minutes when running on full power (haven't checked on 1/2 power, no gas in A/C). The motor gets hot, possibly due to a high internal resistance or short circuit, then the fuse blows. I was considering overhauling, but thanks to your video, I see it's not really an option.
Great job! Glad it helped you

Hey buddy, my 300se 1989 starts normally but I have to rev it a couple of times otherwise it turns off. What's causing this.?
If that only happens with a cold engine it would be the starting fuel injection system or at least one of its components. It's the blue plug at the top and very front of the engine. It actuates a small solenoid valve connected to a fuel injection nozzles that sprays a little extra fuel into the intake during a cold start. It should have power upon starting and when you disconnect it during a cold start the engine speed should drop. That is however only one of a few other issues that could cause your symptom.
How do you add compressor oil to the drier, do you add it in the low side?

Thanks for the tip. The cheapest is still to replace the rubber diaphragm in an original valve insert.
Thank you sir for your precise teaching.

A rat chewed through the cluster of small vacuum lines (on the passenger side that run alongside the battery and go in through the firewall) of our 1978 W123 300D. Prior to that the AC worked fine. I spliced the lines together again sort of OK but the AC won't work after that. Have you ever come across this problem?
oof. Yeah, I have seen plenty of rodent damage in the engine compartment. Did the rat also get into wiring? The only thing I know to do is what you have started doing: trace the lines and make sure that they are properly connected again.
@@straybenzes Thank you. I'll just have to see if I missed a chew hole somewhere and check all the wiring too
@@straybenzes have you done a diesel purge before, and if so how do you keep (on a w123) fuel from pouring steadily out of the hard return line that attaches to the cigar hose going to the main filter? Hello my friend If you use boiling hot water and put them in a large pot and turn on the fire for ten minutes, it would be better, and then wash them with gasoline. This method is quick, not tiring, and practical.😊😶
That is yet another new one I have not heard. It is worth a try for sure. What do you do with the waste water? How do you make sure that absolutely no water is left in the CV joint?
@@straybenzes The type of water does not matter, the important thing is to place the pieces in boiling water whose temperature exceeds one hundred degrees Celsius Leave the dirty pieces in the pot that is boiling intensely due to the fire being lit under the pot for a period of not less than 15 minutes. You will see the dirty pieces very clean We do this with engines that are dirty and contaminated with oil, sand or dirt Do this this way and you will thank me, my friend Remember that the best way to remove grease is boiling water🙂🙂
