How the first book ends. I'll put it here cause I like it : “One more time? For the audience?" he says. His voice isn't angry. It's hollow, which is worse. Already the boy with the bread is slipping away from me. I take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras, and dreading the moment when I will finally have to let go.”
I do not blame Haymitch for being drunk, he is forced each year to mentor two kids, only for them to die most likely, plus he is a victor so he PTSD from his own game.
@@plothole181even sadder they tell you in the first book that the year before katniss, the 73rd games, the tributes were a pair of young children from the seam. I’m sure that hit haymitch pretty hard
Kinda fun listening to your utter confusion over Peeta's actions; lol it very much captures the essence of Katniss's inner monologue that's absent in the film.
I read the books first, and that part is quite memorable so the 11 rating is ingrained in me. However I’ve watched many reactions to this, 5+, and everyone hears out of 10 lol.
The 3 finger salute is something the people do at funerals. I always took it at the reaping to be the people showing Katniss respect for her imminent death. Also hence why Katniss does it after rues death.
It was subtle, and takes an alert eye to spot, but Peeta, while being choked, was pointing to the spot where Katniss needed her arrow to land, in Cato's hand. The sudden shock forced Cato to let go, at which point Peeta knocked him off of the cornucopia.
@DB-zp9un Maybe 'subtle' was not the right word to use, as people could plainly see it, but it seems not everyone was aware that Peeta was hinting his idea to Katniss. Some could just assume that Katniss just wanted Cato to release his hold, and that Peeta took advantage to push Cato away.
If you do read the books you will find this to be one of the most meticulously accurate adaptations on the market in terms of directly translating a book to film. The only thing Lost in Adaptation was Katniss' internal monologue, which was very rich. However it is also recognisable in Jennifer Lawrence's performance which is the important thing.
The one thing I think the films do better than the books is the worldbuilding. The books are told very tightly from Katniss' first-person perspective. We don't get the scenes in the Capital with Snow in the books, which are marvelous at fleshing out the behind the scenes of the Hunger games - otherwise the books are some of my absolute favorites of all time.
Two other things that are lost in the adaptation are Madge Undersee (who not only was the one who gave Katniss the Mockingjay pin, but also had some relevance in the second book) and the idea that the mutts at the end are made to somehow resemble the dead tributes.
I disagree. This movie was the worst in terms of adapting the book to movie form. They condensed the a 1/3 of the book into 15 mins. The entire cave sequence is off from the books. Little to no build up of Katniss and Peeta’s chemistry. Peeta as a whole sucks in the first movie. He’s meant to be self deprecating, funny and charming…yet in the movie he’s just kind and slightly creepy. “I watched you going home every day…EVERY. DAY.” Also they took away any kind of symbolism for the pin by having it be something random that Katniss gets in the hob and gives to prim first so the pin seems like it’s cursed lol. Also they made out thresh was killed by the mutts but he was killed by Cato.
@@davidfairweather3301 And in changing the origin of the pin they also deleted a whole ass character (possibly more, I don't remember if they kept the original mayor in Catching Fire).
SPOILERS: Eh. Honestly? They totally removed Peeta's disability in the second film. That's.... really not accurate to the story, and something I find borderline offensive. They would rather have their lead be inexplicably clumsy than explicitly disabled. That's pretty messed up, and something people don't address about the adaptation.
I didn't see that anywhere in the rules. From what Katniss says in the books, I gathered that there no rules except "Don't step off the platform early unless you want to explode." "No tokens that might be used as weapons.....and the later added rule about not eating people...
@@Floridad25 it's not a concrete rule, but it's more of a unspoken statement this is a death game where the districts are put against each other. there's no support, much less respect, for one another, and that's how the Capital likes it. The fact that Katniss did that showed that she wasn't going to let the capitol change her, which is "against the rules"
"I'm scared of these wealthy people" Omg that made me laugh. It's interesting that this series seems to have become so popular again lately with reactors, seeing a lot of new reactions to it. It's always interesting to see how much people know before watching simply based on their friends and general pop culture.
Btw...the reason Katniss is having trouble with the Capitol-made bow is because she didn't train with one; Haymitch wanted her to keep her skills hidden, so she never used one. She's too used to her homemade bow, whereas the Capitol one is a composite recurve bow (Katniss's bow at home does not have the recurve, the ends of the bow that curve back in the opposite direction). The recurve bow is going to have a stronger draw weight and more force...it actually shoots differently than the one she has at home, which is her father's old bow. The more she uses this new bow, the more accurate she will become. (Also, she's been passed out for a couple of days recovering from tracker-jacker venom, she's malnourished, and a little dehydrated...not exactly at her peak.) Also, no, she couldn't just make one of her own for use in the games because there is a lot more to it than cutting a piece of wood and tying a string to either end. The wood has to be dried out slowly over a period of several months and properly seasoned before it can be turned in to an adequate bow.
Haymitch is warning Katniss that the Capitol (President Snow actually) doesn't take these things lightly. Now President snow is going to have it in for Katniss. Haymitch has personal experience with Snow's vengeance. He won the 50th Hunger Games and during those games Haymitch made a discovery that gave him an advantage in the fight against the other tribute in the final battle. President Snow didn't like this so he arranged for the murders of Haymitch's entire family, including his girlfriend.
It's true what everyone says that the books are even more gruesome. The most horrifying thing that was left out from the movie was that the dogs at the end were human animal hybrids made from the corpses of the fallen tributes. The capitol's technology is so advanced it's practically magic. Also Cato, the last tribute to die, was wearing armor to protect him from Katniss' arrows. So when he falls into the dogs they aren't able to kill him right away and he spends hours be mauled, slowly dying.
They weren’t made from the corpses. The capital used the tributes DNA to give the mutts certain features from the tributes, like their eyes and hair. With the advanced science they don’t need to use the actual bodies. A human body wouldn’t have enough hair to transplant and cover Basically a werewolf size creature.
This was probably the most insightful reaction to hunger games that I've seen. A ton of people miss a lot when reacting to it on TH-cam, but you understood it all and even picked up on some things (like the bow and arrow first shot analogy) that I didnt, even after reading the books. Great job!
Whenever katniss misses a shot I’m pretty sure it’s always her first shot using that particular bow. No matter how good you are at shooting, a new weapon will take some getting used to. For the ratings it was a whole new bow to her and with the apples it was the first time we see her use that one since she took it from glimmer. Also the reason it’s so tense when she shoots the apples is because any missed shot is a wasted arrow, as usually you would try to retrieve your arrow since they’re limited but obviously she couldn’t in that situation
I think Cato deserves some degree of sympathy in his last scene. The "career" tributes from District 1 and 2 come from wealthier districts than 11 and 12 (although still nowhere near as wealthy as the Capital) and train in special academies. (Technically, the academies are illegal, but the Capital looks the other way). When the tributes are old and strong enough, the volunteer to be in the games because it is what they have trained all their lives to do. Think of it like elite high school or college athletes. In his final moments, Cato realizes that in spite of all of his advantages, he's still a tribute who is destined to die for the entertainment of the Capital, just like everyone else (excepting Katniss) in the arena. He was trained to be a part of the system and realized, all too late, that being a cog in the Capital's machine was the best he could ever be.
@@frenchynoobbrother have you ever watched her reactions?? If the movie doesn’t specifically state something, she isn’t gonna figure it out on her own lol she doesn’t care and she’s just not that bright
On the other hand, Cato had no problem making others die to entertain the Capitol. Which means he fully supports the underpinning philosophy of the Games. For that reason, he gets no sympathy from me. You didn't think about that. Becareful about insulting someone's intelligence when you can't think of every possible reaction.

just want to say that i've watched a LOT of hunger games reactions, and this might be my fave cause i feel like you actually understood the themes and motivations of the film immediately which is really rare. I personally love the ending with Cato cause imo it really humanises him - like sure, he's a bit of a horrible person, but he's also a child who has been groomed by the games from a really young age who has just realised his insignificance within that system. also two things i want to mention that aren't really covered in the film: Haymitch is a drunk not only because of his own games (where there were double the contestants due to being a quaterquell), but because of how he won the games as that led to (i think) his whole family and girlfriend being killed by the capitol. he's also head to mentor 2 children every year, by himself, ever since and watch them die, so he now never really gets involved to distance himself from it. that's why when he sees Katniss might actually have a chance he sobers up and tries to be a true mentor for them. The other thing is that the movie does try to push a love triangle a little more than the books, as that's very YA marketable, but in the books Katniss is a scared young girl, who has had to grow up very quickly and will soon have a lot of pressure put on her, and she really doesn't have the time or ability to love anyone because of the horrors she's having to live in. I've always kinda preferred that depiction of her.
You really got the majority of what’s going on. Super observant. I enjoyed your reaction so much, probably my favorite. Most people miss a lot. The three finger salute was a sign of respect and goodbye at funerals for district 12 specifically Also haymitchs story is really tragic. His fell on a quarter quell, which’s is special rules for every 25 years. In his double the tributes went in. So 4 from each district. He won using the capitals force field, they saw it as defiant and killed his girlfriend and family. Not to mention since he is the only winner , he’s been the only mentor the last 24 years and has seen every one of his tributes die. when the victor wins he gets to live in the same district but in a separate location build with nice houses called the victors village . They also get wealth. Peeta is actually leading them away from her. All he does in the games is so she can live, he really does have feeling for her. Also he burnt the bread on purpose because he knew she was outside starving, he also knew he’d be beaten by his mom but he did it for her. 🥹 In the books he actually looses his leg.
Haymitch (their mentor) was in the hunger games 24 years before we get introduced to him, so outside of the trauma of his time in the games at 16, at 2 tributes per year likely 46 of his prior students had died after the time he had to prep them. Compounded by their district while possibly not the worst since even have a winner alive, is structurally likely to lose any given year. So at some point he started more trying not to get attached to the tributes, than being a mentor to them.
Also his mother, brother, and girlfriend were all killed after he won his games due to how he used the forcefield as a weapon. He was made to be an example to the rest of the victors.
the hunger games series are amazing book-to-movie adaptations (with the second one, Catching Fire, being one of THE best book-to-movie adaptations i've seen) so i really recommend reading the books if you enjoy the movies! they're so incredibly good.
I've had the misfortune of being stung by wasps...twice. The second time was months after the first. Apparently once you've been stung, wasps can sense it, at least for quite a while. This was years ago, so maybe I'm safe now.
the funny thing about Katniss and Peeta that actually are very oppositive, Katniss has the survival skills (hunt, what eat, where hide in the forest) but lacks of social skills, she has a introverse nature. and then Peeta KNOWS how to play with words, with people, he is a Charismatic figure but of course he dosen't have the survival skill. so they complete each other
They made 21 of those creatures, referred to as mutts in the books. One for each fallen tribute. Here's a fact from the books that wasn't even mentioned in the movie. Each of the mutts had the eyes of one of the fallen tributes.
I think it was correct choice for the film. It would had been hard to translate it well to the screen. However, I was disappointed on my first watch that it wasn't included.
When I was a kid and we would throw up three fingers and say read between the lines. The book said the three finger salute meant respect, and unity. Lovely reaction. 🫶
I've always found this particular film and it's book to compliment each other. The book describes these events from Katniss' point of view, whereas the movie, gives you an outer world view of the same events. In the film, we see things she wasn't there for and hence , aren't in the novel.
It's good the talk between Snow and Seneca, because it shows what the Hunger Games mean to each one of them. For Seneca, it's just an entertainment, but for Snow is a political weapon against the districts. In the Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes, it will explain more about the conception of the games.
This story is absolutely phenomenal, no matter if it's books or movies! The book is actually even more messed up in part than the movie version, for example the hounds at the end were made from the bodies of the fallen tributes, of course including Rue... There's a moment where Katniss is jumped by one of them, recognizes Rue's eyes and is absolutely traumatized by it. The story really is beautifully frustrating in many ways and I can't wait for you to watch the next one, Catching Fire!
50:02 she doesn’t hit it the first time because it’s a new bow she’s using. Same as in the training room. She had never used that bow before. Her hitting things perfect on her second shot without any practice shows how skilled she is
An amazing book and film series. Lenny Kravitz was awesome as Cinna. Rest in Peace to the legendary Donald Sutherland, who brought President Snow to vibrant life with his performance. He was one of the greats we lost in 2024.
1:04:33 in the books Katniss explain how in past games, the Capitol did not permit people too psychotic to win the Hunger games (such as a cannibal some years ago) because they give a bad image to the "victors". So Cato understood they didn't want him to win cause how he is.
Naaah. Come on, they let ENOBARIA win. I think after Clove's death Cato understood life was more than just "bringing pride to his district" and that's why he was so upset
Peeta threw her "rotten " or spoiled/burnt bread, not good to sell (That's why his mom was so mad, wasted bread). You've seen some actors before, Caesar Flickerman (blue pony tail talk show guy) - Stanley Tucci in Captain America, Rue (Amandla Stenberg) in Acolyte.
Really enjoyed this reaction, and how you figured out a lot of things most people miss. You are right, the world building in the books is great, and we got more of Rue there too. But you can also see more by looking up the deleted scenes. 21min of deleted scenes for this one, more than movie 2-4 combined.
There is SO much background info that they just couldn't fit into this movie. A lot of your questions get answered in the subsequent films, but I HIGHLY recommend reading the books. Not only are they true page-turners (Suzanne Collins is an excellent writer who really understands 3-Act structure), but the audiobooks are SUPERBLY narrated by a wonderful voice actress. This series is worth checking out.
Teenagers because it represents more fear and despair. A basic desire of good parents is that they love and want to protect their children. The fact that in this dystopian society they can't do that from the overlords that control their lives spreads fear, despair, and dread.
This is one series that I don’t have to use the “the books were better” trope. Sure, things were left out or altered, but where the books stayed with the Katniss POV, the movie wandered to other characters, which was awesome. The movies and books really complement each other instead of competing, IMHO.
What I really like about people reacting to The Hunger Games movies is: because of the way it's slow to give information the audience tends to have the same thought process as Katniss, like can Peeta be trusted? Is her affection for him true or just for the cameras? Rue reminds us of Prim, ect. It's very cool how they can persuaide our thought process with no internal narraration like the book. I very much recomend reading the books though! They are much more intense (like the mutts are scaryys) and go into more detail on the harsh survival of both the games and outside, it gives a lot more info on Katniss as a character that's less YA female lead trapped in a love traingle (the movies actually do a very good job outside of the love triangle but I have a soft spot for book Katniss). Also, I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but going into the next movie just be aware of 2 things. 1. Katniss is still 16/17 and is still providing for her family while dealing with the ptsd from the games. She does not need to think about romance, she just wants the people around her safe, that's all she can think about. And 2. Peeta in the books actually lost his leg to the cut and infection from the game (katniss also lost her hearing from the explosion but the capital fixed that), so he has a prosthetic. They decided to remove that for the movies for whatever reason but still kept his struggles in without the main reason for them. Again I don't think they do too bad but just have it in the back of you mind haha. Excited to see your reaction to Catching Fire! I think it's my favourite!
Hiiii :) just a few things! First of all, I loved this reaction, you got the movie's meaning right, many people don't. Second, in the books the creatures (mutts) in the end had features of the death tributes, as the capitol used some of their dna inside the mutts when creating them. Lastly, the three finger salute means "respect".
Honestly even if Peeta was actually helping the careers I don't think it's fair to hate him or anything(not saying you do.) However it is a FIGHT TO THE DEATH. It's understandable to choose self preservation in a life or death situation. One of the last few interactions they had she attacked him for saying he likes her. Why choose to help someone who chooses to attack you even if it was in the heat of the moment. If it was Peeta who slammed her into the wall everyone would be all gung ho about killing him but everyone expects him to just give up and let her win and he was willing but he is 1 in 100,000,000. Not many people would do that.
Peeta's comment about waiting Katniss out was in fact a ploy to keep her alive. The group would otherwise just keep trying to get her. Peeta was just hoping to extend her life.
You are so smart I'm over here listening to you like she's got a point y'all I love her take on the hunger games I feel like most people over look allot in the movies
I been obsessed with this series for 13 years and I love finding new people to discuss it with so to answer your questions in detail; The 3 fingers is a sign of respect, it's a salute that not many people in district 12 receive. It's also one her father receive before which is why in this moment it's very important. In the books she talks about how only a handful receive this gesture and how she didn't think people noticed her or even like her like that. She thought they just dealt with her. The tesserae is a form of food source, if you put your name in the bowl extra times you can get about a grain of food(i think the book said, don't quote me on the grain part) but this comes at a price. So your name is put in once a year at the start of age 12. Then if you do tesserae you'll have extra papers with your name. Gale has 42 pieces of paper in there. I cant remember how much katniss has(they don't mention hers in the movie but if curious i can look it up) but this is why katniss doesn't want prim to do this. She protects her at all cost. anyone can be sponsors, the people judging them are game makers. They make the arenas and games and different obstacles for the arena. Cinna is a first year stylist in katniss games. The 74th hunger games. He never been a stylist for them and katniss assumes he was force to go with her distract but he CHOOSE to be their stylist. Careers are districts 1-4 they usually pair up until they're the last ones and battle it out till the finish or some type of disaster or mutation takes them out Remember Cato cove glimmer and marvel are still kids themselves in a world of Properganda. They were trained to do this.your not allowed to train but their district still did. The flashback during the running is about her father's death. Their was a mine explosion that killed her father but not just hers it also killed gales father. The two were declare the providers of the family after their father's passing basically the mother turned into a deep depressive person. She was so deep into depression that she couldn't take care of her self katniss or prim. They almost died until peeta threw the bread. Rue is 12, yes she just a kid but this is war. Sadly war doesn't choose its victims. I hate that rue died but I'm glad katniss didn't have to kill her. Bc only one can survive. Katniss doing the flowers is so important that it's a form of being a rebel in a way to snow. The person that got upset is to believe to be her father fans have assumed. Lastly she knew they HAVE TO have a winner. They can't go winnerless. I hope this answered the questions!!
Katniss didn’t KNOW they HAVE to have a winner. By that point she was ready for her and Peeta to die just to stick it to the capital by not letting them have a winner.
@Drummer4President in the books she literally thinks "they have to have a winner right " and that is WHY she took the berries. Because she hoped that they would have to have a winner since no games had no winner before If it didn't work if they ended up dying she thought there was no better rebellion way to do it. But it was to try and survive first.
As good as these films are, I recommend reading the books as well. Very intense reading and so engaging I literally couldn't read anything else for like two months. Thanks, Emme, for choosing this series!
a bow is just like a gun, you have to sight them in. every time she missed it was hewr first shot with that particular bow. you can see her aim lower on the second shot because she now knows what adjustment she needs to make. after that she doesn't miss.
Great reaction. I wanted to share a note on the geography of Panem. It exists where the USA is today in a future after some sort of cataclysm happened. The country is divided into 13 Districts plus the Capitol. Katniss is from District 12, which is Appalachia, basically West Virginia. The Capitol, though never expressly stated, I think is where Denver is today.
If I remember correctly, those "lion rottweilers" at the end, are featured in the book as creatures with the faces of everyone who died .... including Rue! Sooooooooo glad they didn't go there for the film! 🤐😱
19:58 they care about training BECAUSE it's for entertainment. The whole thing is a television show and training makes everything more interesting 23:07 they're not the sponsors. They are gamemakers. They produce the hunger games 25:00 they are rating them on a scale from 0 to 12 39:00 again... It's a television show. It has to be entertaining. Katniss hiking through the woods = boring. Katniss dodging fireballs = exciting 58:40 Gale can suck it. He never told Katniss about his crush on her so he doesnt get to act possessive now
I've said this in the past, but it's always true: Donald Sutherland (RIP, good sir) makes a really good villain as President Snow. It's kind of the same paradox with Imelda Staunton/Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter: a delightful actor playing such a vile, despicable character. Also....RIP Rue. She did not deserve the fate she was given.
The point of the book was to show how out of touch people in capital were, focused on their sick entertainment and celebrity cult. It supposed to highlight reality of western culture where people were more interested in what Kardashian had for lunch than war, human trafficking and famine happening elsewhere in the world. Or even homelessness and poverty in their own country. Yes, *we* are those weirdos with colorful hair and clothes, watching eagerly the new hip, fashionable thing on our screens and ignoring all the bad in the world. *We* let monsters like President Snow rule because we don't care. That was the message. Movie focus on the other hand was on the celebrity and entertainment part. The articles and reviews were all about the costumes, special effects, rules of the game, etc. The actors quickly rose to celebrity status themselves. The obsession young people had was exactly what the book described and criticized. The irony was immense but self-realization in media was nonexistent. From perspective of time I can say that it was only the prelude to what we have in social media today. The story and lore popularized a battle royale culture in gaming. Gamers imagined themselves as the heroes of the arena but were behaving exactly like those crowds from the capital. And no one cared about the irony either.
This agreement idea: You would not want to live out your life in the gaming area, where they could bring wild animals, burning trees, genetic killer wasps and other surprises ...

I think, especially in times like these, the themes of defying authoritarian leaders and remaining true to yourself in the face of fear are particularly important.
Rue, like Prim, was picked at her first reaping. She was 12. Rue's skills were what differentiated them, however. Rue would have lasted a lot longer than Prim in the Hunger Games.
IMO, Katniss bluffed with she and Peata eating the poisonous berries, figuring they would be stopped. Because there has to be a winner. Remember when President Snow explained why they just didn't kill all 24 all at once. Because there has to be hope. Hope is greater than fear. If there is no winner then there is now hope.

They would rather have their lead be inexplicably clumsy than explicitly disabled. That's pretty messed up, and something people don't address about the adaptation.
Katniss taking care of Rues body is in defiance of the capital rules, she is showing her respect for Rue
I didn't see that anywhere in the rules. From what Katniss says in the books, I gathered that there no rules except "Don't step off the platform early unless you want to explode." "No tokens that might be used as weapons.....and the later added rule about not eating people...
@@Floridad25 it's not a concrete rule, but it's more of a unspoken statement
this is a death game where the districts are put against each other. there's no support, much less respect, for one another, and that's how the Capital likes it.
(Also, she's been passed out for a couple of days recovering from tracker-jacker venom, she's malnourished, and a little dehydrated...not exactly at her peak.)
Also, no, she couldn't just make one of her own for use in the games because there is a lot more to it than cutting a piece of wood and tying a string to either end.
Oh, don't tell me she missed all that?

One of several reasons I think this isn't her first time watching
One of several reasons I think this isn't her first time watching
Also in the book Cato can be seen lamenting after Clove's death
So fun fact, the girl who played Rue had her first big break here, but went on to play Mae and Osha in The Acolyte!
Not to mention that she played Star in "The Hate You Give".
She also played young Cataleya in the movie “Columbiana”.
She’s also in Bodies Bodies Bodies
You really got the majority of what’s going on. Super observant. I enjoyed your reaction so much, probably my favorite. Most people miss a lot.
The three finger salute was a sign of respect and goodbye at funerals for district 12 specifically
Also haymitchs story is really tragic.
In the books he actually looses his leg.
If you look closely, they do have human eyes
I LOVE the hunger games! you're going to really enjoy these films. I just rewatched it a couple days ago it never gets boring
i'm so excited to watch the next one!!
Loved your reaction!! Can’t wait for the rest of the series (and don’t forget the prequil about president snow! “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”) 🫶🏻
50:02 she doesn’t hit it the first time because it’s a new bow she’s using. Same as in the training room. She had never used that bow before. Her hitting things perfect on her second shot without any practice shows how skilled she is
My first time seeing Josh Hutchison was in the movie RV, with Robin Williams. Josh was even younger than in this movie.
"Why are they staring like that?"
Welcome to the world of Young Adult adaptations. There's A LOT of creepy staring.
Well, not rotten but burnt because that was the whole thing: he burnt it ON PURPOSE
36:50 “is it their nightly news? Who dies that day?”
You know, nightly news broadcasts do tend to feel like that far too often.
Really enjoyed this reaction, and how you figured out a lot of things most people miss. You are right, the world building in the books is great, and we got more of Rue there too. But you can also see more by looking up the deleted scenes. 21min of deleted scenes for this one, more than movie 2-4 combined.
I was thinking I would run off and chill in the forest, and then they started chucking fireballs... 🔥
In the book, the Capitol actually had to amputate Peeta's leg from the infection.
The later movies are more difficult to fully understand on their own without the books.
Teenagers because it represents more fear and despair. A basic desire of good parents is that they love and want to protect their children. The fact that in this dystopian society they can't do that from the overlords that control their lives spreads fear, despair, and dread.
Also because it's sort of government-issued trauma that haunts those children even when they become adults
This is one series that I don’t have to use the “the books were better” trope. Sure, things were left out or altered, but where the books stayed with the Katniss POV, the movie wandered to other characters, which was awesome. The movies and books really complement each other instead of competing, IMHO.
Dropping this halfway through THE dr. who finale is wild, may the odds be ever in your favour
These movies are so nostalgic for me i remember reading the books before the movies came out
No matter how many times I've read the book and seen the movie. I always cry and yell, "No, not the baby!" When Rue dies.
Can’t wait for you to watch Songbirds and Snakes!
I been obsessed with this series for 13 years and I love finding new people to discuss it with so to answer your questions in detail;
The 3 fingers is a sign of respect, it's a salute that not many people in district 12 receive.
Careers are districts 1-4 they usually pair up until they're the last ones and battle it out till the finish or some type of disaster or mutation takes them out
Remember Cato cove glimmer and marvel are still kids themselves in a world of Properganda.
I hope this answered the questions!!
careers in book are from districts 1, 2 and 4 but in movies are just 1 and 2
@msbte49 i was going off book info bc that's the orginal story haha
Katniss didn’t KNOW they HAVE to have a winner. By that point she was ready for her and Peeta to die just to stick it to the capital by not letting them have a winner.
@Drummer4President in the books she literally thinks "they have to have a winner right " and that is WHY she took the berries. Because she hoped that they would have to have a winner since no games had no winner before
If it didn't work if they ended up dying she thought there was no better rebellion way to do it. But it was to try and survive first.
This was a GREAT reaction! You are very insightful and observant. I can't wait to see your reaction to the rest of the series!
"on a scale of 1-12" "oh that makes sense" "wait 11? i thought it was out of 10" you couldnt make that up
LMAO i dont know what happened here
Great reaction.
I feel like it's been a long time since I've watched you Emme! I'm glad to be back
19:58 they care about training BECAUSE it's for entertainment. The whole thing is a television show and training makes everything more interesting
23:07 they're not the sponsors. They are gamemakers. They produce the hunger games
25:00 they are rating them on a scale from 0 to 12
39:00 again... It's a television show. It has to be entertaining. Katniss hiking through the woods = boring. Katniss dodging fireballs = exciting
58:40 Gale can suck it. He never told Katniss about his crush on her so he doesnt get to act possessive now
Keep the kids in line. That is why the more you get in trouble. The more often your name is in the drawing for the Hunger Games
The thing I wish wasn't skipped is Cato lamenting after Clove's death. I know why it was cut but it would make him more human
If you're interested in seeing a young Josh Hutcherson, I recommend watching Bridge to Terabithia
OH YEAH!! I forgot about that movie, i have seen that!!!
I love this movie. I cried so much during Rue’s death when I first watched this movie.
Loved your reaction to this! I can't wait for The Hunger Games 2 reaction! It makes me very excited✅
I am so excited to react to it too!
When the youngest kid dies.... *sniffs the air* Smells like Ishval. Are we about to Ishval?
AHH YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE REST OF THESE. THE SECOND MOVIE IS THE BEST ONE
This agreement idea: You would not want to live out your life in the gaming area, where they could bring wild animals, burning trees, genetic killer wasps and other surprises ...
32:02 asking the good questions as always lol
51:06 I like how you went from smiles to terror in a split second
53:29 cool moment
Enjoyed your reaction as usual
i hate the scene where katniss searches for peeta because it has such a beautiful score and it ends so goofily with him camouflaged
Read the books. Katniss towards the end is on the verge of insanity. She is not only trying to hang on to her life but also her mind.
The weather during the reaping scene was quite warm, so the somber look on the teens' facesmay not have been just acting.
I think, especially in times like these, the themes of defying authoritarian leaders and remaining true to yourself in the face of fear are particularly important.
ur the smartest person to ever watch these for the first time
OK now I can't help but hear his name in Lois Griffin's voice. :D Also this was a Great reaction. May the algorithm be ever in your favour. :)
Rue, like Prim, was picked at her first reaping. She was 12. Rue's skills were what differentiated them, however. Rue would have lasted a lot longer than Prim in the Hunger Games.
You'll understand the Peeta love in the next one, for sure
Nice touch, how did you get that terrifying Feline beast to walk by just when the other people were being attacked? :-)
Peeta, the horse is here
EXACTLY
IMO, Katniss bluffed with she and Peata eating the poisonous berries, figuring they would be stopped. Because there has to be a winner. Remember when President Snow explained why they just didn't kill all 24 all at once. Because there has to be hope. Hope is greater than fear. If there is no winner then there is now hope.
The scene that always gets me is that Cato is so well trained for years and years but can’t climb a tree….. just saying 😮
You're very perceptive, and picked up on a lot of details and underlying themes. Plus, you're cute as a button! Subscribed :)
You can watch more of Josh Hutcherson in the hilarious “Future Man” TV series.
Very fun show !
@ 13:08 ... He did
throw her burnt bread ...
Awesome job on the review and your speculations which mostly came to pass. I think you'll enjoy the remainder of the series and hope that we get to see their review soon. Again great job, it was awesome to watch with you.
Alot of the stuff you are wondering about of course is in the books but when you watch ballad of songbirds and snakes ALOT of ur questions will be answered there
Written near 26:30
Gale is plated by Liam Hemsworth, brother to Chris.
I would not be a reader if not for these books. The second movie is WAAAAAY better!
When is the 2nd part ..?
The depth and breadth of your vocabulary is quite astounding.
I funny that everyone thinks they're rated out of 10 when right before that he says the scale is 1 to 12
Did you recognise the actress who played Rue? It’s a baby Amandla Stenberg, from the Acolyte ^_^
This, Fortnight, PUBG, all based off a Japanese movie called Battle Royale.
Strong react…looking forward to the rest of the series!!!
If you’re more of an audio book person, the audiobook performed by Tatiana Maslany on audible is amazing!
Emma welcome to the hunger games and may the odds be ever in your favor.
Haven't seen you in a while, I love the new hair
