The final thing you will ever do as an Entered Apprentice is to return your proficiency, or the lesson that shows that you have learned enough of the lessons found within the Entered Apprentice Degree to be permitted to advance to the next degree.

Just got back home from my Masonic Initiation! What a great feeling!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!:)
Congrats brother!
I am receiving my petition this wednesday.. Will be such an honor if I am excepted into Freemasonry..
J Turner have you decided to continue in Masonry? If so where are you at?!?
I do my EA profficiency tonight. Got 99% of memorized. Please wish me luck.
Good Luck, Brother!
How did you do?
I did good. I got my 2nd degree. I have been studying my fellow craft proficiency for two weeks now. We only meet once a month so I got plenty of time to memorize it all. I have most of it memorized already. I am so excited to get my third. I have a fancy metal decal square and compass I purchased. Once I get my third I'm slapping that bad boy on there. Plus once I do I can go visit my some family friends in a lodge in the next town over. I am just excited :D
I just had my EA initiation last night. To move to FC I have to memorize everything that happened last night during the ritual. Answers as well as the questions. It's a lot of work but it is worth it. The initiation was great. It was an honor for the lodge to put so much effort into the initiation. I have never felt so welcomed by people I have never met before that are now my brothers for life.
Happy to hear about your positive experience. Good luck with your proficiency!
I’m at this point now in EA. I’m worried that I will not have my answers memorized by next week 🙁

I was one of those of thought, "I'm never going to learn this EA work" but I did and it was time well invested. I learn best by learning the meaning and it then makes more sense. Thanks again for another great video Brother!
I learn in a similar way - if nothing else, knowing the "why" help me be able to focus more on the ritual work, rather than letting my mind wander off trying to come up with the "why".
I was kinda of against it at first- thinking it was somewhat arbitrary. But I agree- do the work- and you’ll be rewarded with a deeper understanding. Especially when as an EA it’s hard to catch everything going through your initiation.
This is one of my favorite videos. I kind of felt overwhelmed with all of the memorization required of me, and without a coach appointed to me immediately, I felt a little hopeless. This video eased my anxiety and inspired me to keep going. Asking a brother for help reminds me of Solomon, when he asked the Lord for wisdom. Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.
Thank you for letting me know that the video had a positive impact. Millions have done it before, and you can too - just don't get caught up in how fast you can do it - stay focused on simply doing it well and understanding it.
I will be having my initiation on February 10th! Thank you for having all of these videos to get a better insight into this fraternity! Looking forward to being a part of something worldwide!
I hope your Initiation went well, and I am glad the videos were of some benefit.
Jared, I was I initiated this past Monday, and I want to thank you for your channel. Along with the brothers that helped me along in person, your videos have been a valuable source of information and just the push I needed to seek more light and become an Entered Apprentice.
It is my pleasure. Congratulations on your Initiation. I wish you the best of success in your learning!
I like how you give instructions without obviously giving instructions, because you just gave great advise if the people can hear it.
Thanks for listening so well :-)
Jarad, you are a great brother. I just received my first degree last night. You are a great resource for this who are just coming into the craft.
Thank you so much for the kind words, and congratulations on your Initiation!
Thank you Brother for all of your insight... I've entertained your Light for a while and have included your opinions and understanding along with a few others to help me prepare for my journey... I am proud to announce I just received my E.A. degree in a beautiful, well prepared and put together ritual this past Monday, Dec.11 2017 at Progressive Lodge No.17 F&AM PHA New Brunswick New Jersey... I like your style of explanation...very straight forward, not pretentious or arrogant...just a regular guy I could have some wings and beer with lol...keep doing a good job... Good work,True work, Square work
You buying? Just joking ;-) Congratulations on your EA. I hope you learn a lot and enjoy the rest of your journey!
What is a Mason...lol good Brother I as well as my EA Brothers in my class would all buy you a cold one... we have learned much following your channel, all that I thought I knew, read and studied prior to initiation can and could never express the experience of the initiation and obligation and oath...we are studying for proficiency now and hope to move to FC degree in early February
Maybe it's just me and my old fashioned mindset, but I appreciated doing the lecture work when I was an entered apprentice, and I appreciate it more as I learn my Fellowcraft proficiency. I find myself reciting my part of the work by myself driving to and from work, and this seems to help me as well. Actually working to earn something is how I was raised, and it makes the reward that much sweeter.
I agree - there is a value behind earning something, and not just having it given to you.
friscobob56... I find myself shutting off the t.v., radio and so on to go over my E.A. proficiency...while I'm in the shower or just sitting around or driving in the car lol I've even woken up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and find myself going over the work while I lay back down to go to sleep
friscobob56 I totally agree. We learned mouth to ear and had to prove proficiency on the 1 and 2nd section of the first degree in 30 days.
I’ve been working on mine about 3weeks now.
It’s a lot to take in but I’m learning a lot ....Thank you for all the insight , your videos have been a big help for my journey.
I am happy to hear the videos have been of some value. Good luck with your continued learning!
I am lucky that after I was initiated that the lodge has a study session every Wednesday for an hour. The brothers have helped me with the work and more importantly know the WHY the work is important.
Excellent - I am very pleased to hear that!
I did my initiation last night. What a humbling experience.
We had our proficiency last Nov 4th. It is entirely different when you have a mentor rather than doing the memorization by yourself. Our mentor is very patient and encouraging. Hats off to Bro. Rico. Looking forward to our FC degree.
FACTS
Hi Jared, I was initiated to The St Thomas Talbot Lodge 44 in St Thomas Ontario last night. I would like to reach out and say thank you for all of your videos you posted. It really helped me understand the process and made me much more calm and composed going into my first degree. Thanks again and keep up the great work brother!
Excellent! I am so glad the videos were of value to you. Congratulations - enjoy it!
I thought I'd never learn all of my ea work. I did , fortunately. I'm studying fellow craft work now. I love it. It's amazing what you can retain , if you put your mind to it. Plus, I have a great teacher.
Excellent - Congratulations, and good luck!
What is a Mason thanks!
studying to get my FC now bro. I know it i just hope when they test me i dont be nervous lol. I was told the T is suppose to whisper to me if i mumble thru some words.
Aaron Carter I was nervous, and I think I stumbled a couple of times. They got me back on track, no problems. The brothers in the lodge are really helpful and told me that they all had been where I was now.
Merci
As you were instrumental in my being initiated as an apprentice a few days ago..
This is great to know for future purposes as I am expecting a sit down with a couple brothers this week before EA. Much appreciation for the further teachings on this due process I'm sure it will be utilized as a proper lesson in the future. Great video 👍
Thank you, and good luck!
Awesome Jarred, as always, I've enjoyed this video, as all others. My initiation draws nearer, or shall I say my vote. Had some of the gents stop by the house and had my interview about 2 weeks ago, a few laughs and a few very basic questions (as I expected, as I've done my homework on the interview process) Jr. Warden and past master were present as well as an other member. They mentioned to each other that they were comfortable which is a very important thing to me. Basic but important. As for proficiency I'm quite sure here in Ontario Canada in the Victoria district at Murray 408 G.R.C. A.F. A.M. lodge in the town of Beaverton, we do have to remember lots as they stressed memory work and dedication. Truely as for you I can only thank you for the effort and great deal of straight forward videos you post, you answer many hopeful member their questions. Awesome!
Good luck on the vote, and thanks for watching, as always.
Here in Oregon we do have memory work. I find it very fulfilling and exciting. As an EA I found it very challenging but of course over much time and hard work very rewarding. Letting my mind stew in it. I HIGHLY recommend all men whom are able seem out Freemasonry
Good on ya for putting in the work.
I went through my second degree last month and am looking forward to my third. I just wanted to thank you for all of your videos, they've answered a lot of questions and helped me a lot on my Masonic journey thus far! From Barrington Lodge #522 Barrington, IL
My pleasure, and thank you for watching!
EA proficiency is done and FC is scheduled for Feb 1st. Can’t wait to continue my journey. Thanks for all of your videos, and I can’t wait to see what else you’ve got coming down the pike.
I hope your FC went well! Thank YOU for watching and sharing the videos!
Hi brother! Just finished up my initiation tonight and was reading through what I needed for my proficiency here in the State of Michigan. It’s a similar deal here where most of the proficiency stems from ritual work alone rather than historical aspects and parts from the lectures.
Greetings, and good luck with your studies! Remember to learn why the words are there, not just the words we all have to parrot back!
What is a Mason thank you! Gladly they not only gave me a booklet with brief information about the proficiency but also a book outlining every aspect of the degree so I can study it. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to be a part of the degree team at my lodge so knowing the ritual in and out and all the meanings of it will be no short of necessary.
How many men I have coached have said "I will never learn this"? I reply How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Exactly
That's what my mentor keeps saying. The first time he said it I replied "and BBQ sauce."
I was welcomed into the fold tonight in a beautiful ritual I will remember until I die. I am so excited for what lies ahead
Happy to hear that you had a positive and memorable experience.
What is a Mason thank you brother. I’ve since become hugely involved and I’m starting to realize that there’s enough to do within that building to keep me busy forever hahaha. Thank you for your awesome videos and keep up the great work!
I had my FC conferral last night. I am looking forward to learning the next lecture.
Congratulations!
I am to be initiated in the next month or so after spending the last few months as a guest of my lodge. I have learned a lot from them already and looking forward to MORE LIGHT!
Learning the proficiency can be quite frustrating for some people who feel like they just "don't get it." Part of what can be frustrating for new initiates is how precise, nay nit-picky, we are (or should be) with the ritual work in general, but with the proficiency specifically. I think it is important to explain why we try to teach and learn the work the right way. Since so much the the ritual is not written down, at least in MS (not even as a cipher) it is incumbent upon us who choose to learn the work to learn it correctly to preserve it for future generations.
Some people can learn it letter-perfect in the matter of a couple of hours spread over a 2 or 3 learning sessions, but some can take many sessions over the course of months. I like how you said you ask them what learning methods work best for them so you can tailor your teaching to their learning style. Fortunately for those who fall in the latter category, the return of the proficiency need only be "suitable" and, according to the MS bylaws, "such discretion as is vested in the Lodge membership is a wide discretion to be used both wisely and, in some cases, charitably."
Hear, hear.
This is needed. We all should memorize and know each degree by heart.
Agreed!
Thank you brother. I am learning word for word, and it does help somewhat if you understand what you are saying and why it is so important to say every word correctly. Discipline always helps the mind. I am grateful.
Good luck with your efforts!
I am about to turn in my EA in Texas. It seemed so daunting at first, but after the first s, it started to really make sense what it all meant. I have the best instructor anyone could ever ask for. So shout out to Reagan Lodge #1037!!
Almost 4000 views and only 76 Likes?? Thanks for these videos Gerard, they may not be Gopsel in every Lodge in every Country, but they help EA's to know what to expect and are certainly helpful.
Yeah, Brethren, hit that like button ;-)
I appreciate the kind words of encouragement, they really do help me keep going.
I just Passed part 1 of 3 for E.A. We still go old school and at well over 50 years of age, It is a challenge but It can be Done. Stay Steadfast.
I am receiving my EA this month.. been watching your videos..
As a Free Mason in the state of New Jersey, I enjoy your TH-cam channel. Everything is not same but very very close. Hopefully you will film your play. Thanks for your time & knowledge.
My pleasure Brother. Thank you for watching and commenting. Is this the play you are wanting to see? th-cam.com/video/ONUcw37uh8A/w-d-xo.html
In Illinois we have a intender program, we have a long form proficiency and a short form . In my lodge like 90% of the brothers did short form . Myself and a few others took the time to learn and preform the long form. But what I seen was there were a lot more mentors not wanting to have to learn the long form themselves if they did short form during their time as a EA. I will say I got a lot more knowledge from long form. Thanks again Brother. Great vid.
A bit of a domino effect, eh? You make it easier for the candidate, but eventually that Brother becomes the Mentor and can only do the easy work and, over time, the "hard" work just goes away. Simple Freemasonry via attrition.
I was initiated last week and never thought I'll feel so lost. I don't have a mentor and agree and pledge to also always help fellow members. At the initiation everything was about you, then next morning you lost. So I agree with you that your mentor must be allocated at the night of your initiation
Sadly, some lodges are capable of making masons, but not teaching them. If your lodge isn't helping, reach out to your District Deputy Grand Lecturer or District Deputy Grand Master, whatever it is called in your area, and ask about other lodges that meet and teach.
Great video, I'm currently working with a brother on this, he's really great I feel so lucky to have him working with me, it does seem like a lot but I'm trying to enjoy the ride lol
Great introduction. I am looking forward to the next video. With brotherly regards!
Thank you
I passed my first part of my Entered Apprentice Masons Degree in the State of Texas, yesterday. What I understand is the first of three parts. I got a later start in life, at age of 68 but I felt that now, being retired, I felt I have the time.
Totally agree with the "I wish there was MORE proficiency required" and that more of the lecture material be examined.
I am a master mason preparing to become SW next year. My mentor and friend passed away a few weeks ago and I feel lost trying to learn this stuff. I know he is with me and he will guide me from upstairs.
Just had my initiation. I enjoyed it.
Your videos are a blessing.
Thank you
I completed my first initiation and now about to give my proficiency. Nervous of course!! But I disagree with the “Should be required” to learn more. Learn it .. yes! But for the proficiency absolutely not! We have to do all long form in Cali and I wish I could do the short! 🤦🏽♂️😮💨 but I feel really good having the knowledge down and understanding. I get my initiation to FC same night .. I love the call down lol thanks for all you’re insight.
I have my EA initiation tonight. Wish me luck!!
In the state of Arizona we are given a mentor, but we also are given a book that contains the same information so we can study on our own.
Excellent!
You will, no doubt, not be surprised to know that here in PA no memorization is required! We do have education sessions between degrees where the new Brother must exhibit that he understands what took place (not all of the exact words), Understands the obligation, knows the step, signs and grip as well as the word. They also have to learn and demonstrate a knowledge of the meaning of what transpired.
Memorization is only required if you want to run for the offices of JW, SW and WM. JW must prove proficiency in Business of the Lodge and the EA degree, SW adds the FC degree and WM adds the MM degree. I managed to get signed off on the required work for the JW chair and, God willing, should be elected JW of my lodge next Wednesday.
PA is different? WHAT?!?
I hate that y'all don't do that. Clearly, as the state with the largest number of Freemasons, something is working for you - but I would hate to see the memory work be dropped from our routine. And, I wish more work was required before you could sit as a principle officer.
This man is the professor Messer of Freemasonry!
You've come a long way from the e videos in the woods. I like the little additions ( twitter plug ) Video production work
Thank you. Back then I never expected many people to watch but as soon as I realized that many people were watching I took the opportunity to increase production value - and I am grateful to you for noticing and letting me know!
New EA now studying my EA Cat; here in Florida we must memorize the entire Cat word for word and may NOT use the book/pamphlet, so 6 pages with thousands of words and encompassing deepest meanings must be recited word for word, including THE Obligation. Here in Florida we do mouth-to-ear training for our proficiency with no written words, notes and Lodge members are particularly proud in the manner in which the degrees are earned. My instructor / conductor is amazing. My question, I'm a 3rd generation F a A M and was told by my Dad many times "do not explore FM on internet, Experience it in the Lodge, Br J, by watching your video, am I breaking any F a A M rules, or just that of my Dad? Also, some fellow EA's are in full memorization mode versus learning and becoming proficient...is our purpose to learn and live or memorize and recite?
Your dad may well have been concerned about 2 things: 1) Finding anti-masonic stuff 2) Ruining the "surprises" by learning too much in advance. There is something to be said for not watching my videos until you have been through the degree for that video. I do not know the rules of FL well enough to know for sure, but I would wager that there are not rules where you are that would stop you from watching these videos.
We also do not write down any of the proficiency recitation. Every bit of it is mouth to ear, parroted back.
But, you bring up the point of this, and why some have opted to drop memory work: Are we just doing rote ritual, or learning to live our lives? I would say the one is the means to the other.
@@WhatisaMason Well said. The one is the means to the other. Without the memory work, in my jurisdiction, it would be difficult to explore further. Also...See the Second Schaw Statute, on the subject of the Art of Memory. There are those who believe (see Bruno) that by the very act of memorizing things, we begin to live what we memorize without even knowing it. I agree with that. Keep up the good work!
@@WhatisaMason is this prince hall?
There is a white softback book called a proficiency guide for all three degrees. This guide is great and it has a test in the back for you to test yourself. Second to the study session this was a tool I relied on heavily on my journey and now as of this month I am the WM of my local lodge. Each degree has a separate book and here in Atlanta they go for around $14 dollars each.
Sounds like a useful resource!
@@WhatisaMason it really is brother... It's called the "Achilles Proficiency guide".
Here in NY, I was given a small book (about 6"x3") with about 10 pages. The book is all in code, no plain English. I was shown by my WM how to read the book, we've been meeting about once a week to go over everything. He's been practicing with me, and I've read the book many, many times. I have my advancement to FC on October 9th! :)
Is the code a cipher or a bunch of first letter abbreviations? Just curious. Here our York Rite ritual uses a lot of first letter abbreviations as a way to keep certain parts secret. Congratulations on your study, I hope your proficiency is accepted and that you have an enjoyable Fellow Craft Degree!
BTW - Where in NY? I did some growing up in the Binghamton area.
Binghamton is practically Pennsylvania for me. I'm in the Watertown area. My lodge is in Chaumont, but I live even closer to the Canadian border. :)
I'd say the code is similar to a cipher, but not quite to that standard. the best way I could describe it is that they have a couple letters from each word, to stand for the whole word. So, as an example, my first comment that you replied to might look something like this(of course it wouldn't look exactly like this, but you get the idea):
H n N, I as gn a sml b w at tn pgs. T b s al n cd, n pln E. I ws swn b m WM hw t rd t b, wve bn metng at o a wk t g ov evtng. Hs bn pctng w m, nd ie rd t b my, my tms. I hv m ancnt t FC n Oobr nnth!
Oh, yeah, Binghamton is a stones throw from PA to be sure.
Thanks for sharing the concept of how the "cipher" is done. I understand now!
are you Blue Lodge?
Diego - I apologize if this comes across as condescending, but I just want to be clear: "Blue Lodge" is just another term for "Symbolic Lodge", which refers to the first 3 degree in ancient craft masonry, that of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and Master Mason. As a Master Mason it would be correct to say that I am in "Blue Lodge".
You mentioned the one day classes,I watched or read something about those the other night and learned they can walk in a layman and come out a 32nd degree, totally blew my mind
True story
Sad (IMHO) but true. Rumor has it that our newly elected RWGM is going to do away with one day classes.
I completed all of the initial steps and interview etc. I received a call from the Master Mason I knew and signed my petition to congratulate me as I was accepted at the lodge vote. I am just waiting for an official initiation date. The memory work scares me. I'm going to git it my best! I have this inner feeling and desire to be a Mason. I hope it will come to me. Your channel is awesome, although I'm in Canada I think there should be simularities.
Excellent, congratulations! You know, if you can drive to or from work (or whatever), and sing to 3 of the songs on the radio, then you have the ability to memorize the amount of words required. As I like to say, it is just a new song to learn! Good luck!
Thank you for your insight. I hope to be an EA soon. Do you suggest any books or other preparations to ready myself?
If I were you, I would just sit back, wait, and enjoy. However, if you really want to read something, though it certainly isn't required at all, I would recommend this book, seriously: amzn.to/2LODMBH
What is a Mason I just finished the book. Thank you for the excellent suggestion. Are there any others you may suggest?
I was raised April 15, 2017. Here in Texas, we are mouth to ear (nothing in writting). There is no explanation or education as to meaning of the ritual. I hope the two lodges that I am associated with are not the norm in Texas, because there is no education in the Blue Lodge, just business meeting, green bean meals, and ritual practice. None of which I got into Freemasonary for.
Tom Caldwell You can move to another Lodge if you wish. I ran into that a very long time ago. I was ready to drop out. Then a Brother told me about visiting another Lodge and see if I liked it better. As it turned out I liked the Lodge I visited so much I filled out the paperwork that night. I’ve been with that Lodge for over 40 years now without a regret. Each Lodge has a personality and you just need to find the one that fits you and your needs. Good Luck Brother!
I 2nd the motion of rickd248. Travel, find the lodge that does and move. Or, if you are up for the battle, find the lodge that you like and then come back to your lodge and tell why you like it and spearhead the movement in your current lodge to become better.
What is a Mason, Thanks for the suggestions bothers, I will travel, find what I am seeking and be the one to get it going at my lodge.
I’m a MM, now working on my optional EA proficiency. I just wish I had access to someone more than once a week to learn from.
I don't think they should have to memorize more. Memorizing isn't necessarily learning. In fact it rarely is. It should be a combination of memorizing the ritual and (more importantly in my mind) actually explain the key aspects of the degree in your own words and how you have applied what you learned while in that degree. I know many more senior Masons that can repeat by rote the exact words yet I'll raise other things about Freemasonry, or deeper meaning I have learned through study that they have no idea about....
I have heard of lodges where in order to "prove proficiency" brethren have to compile and read a research paper in the lodge, in substitution for the memory work. I like that idea a lot!
What is a Mason In NY lodges you have to do both
jarrod. i am learning my E.A. i watched it recited by a young man half my age almost perfect. everyone says keep trying to relate it to the ritual. when does something but repotion come into play? i want to know the esoteric original stuff. am i not allowed to until i am a master mason? or will it be like parlimentary pfocedure in business class in High School?
Congratulations on your Initiation!
Sometimes a lodge gets too focus on the repetition memory work. Sometimes their own members do not understand the "esoteric" stuff well enough to teach it. The point is that there is nothing stopping you from learning the meanings behind all of the work within the Entered Apprentice Degree.
Perhaps all you need to do is express that you are learning the memory work, but that you have some deeper questions you'd like to talk to someone about. The "why" type of questions. Maybe the lodge will then point you towards a good person in the lodge to speak with - once they understand you are still working on the "required" work.
PS: Feel free to call me Jared, mum always did ;-)
My initiation is on October 15th thanks for the video..
Do you have to remember password and hand gripes every time you enter the lodge
Im about 80% ready for the 2nd.

Can’t wait until I get more free time. So I can practice my memory work. I work in the oilfield and I haven’t even gotten a chance to learn very much of it yet. Hard to find people to work with when you are working 12 hours a day pretty much 7 days a week.
That does seem like a difficult environment to work in. I suppose it will all come down to how you opt to spend your on-shore time whenever it happens to come around.
Yeah when i was working in West Texas I tried talking to a few lodges to find someone to work with but it’s a difficult schedule.
Now working in Louisiana it’s not an option as the memory work is different from Texas.
Sorry to hear it man. Perhaps good things come to those who are forced to wait as well, lol.
Hi, I have a quick question for you. When filling out my petition for initiation there is a spot that says "I was born at ___________ on_______"I don't want to ask my sponsor for fear of not knowing what I should probably know. I was born at...is that the city, province, country or a certain hospital? Thank you for your videos. They have helped me out much.
I'd go with the city. Might not sound great - as in my example it would read "I was born at Douglasville..." One might presume it ought to read "I was born in Douglasville". But still, I cannot imagine why they would want anything other than the city.
If it makes you feel better, I've seen some horribly filled out petitions - it doesn't really affect anything. Either ask first if you want to be 100% sure, or just put the City and if it isn't what they want, they'll let you know to change it.
Thank you very much for your reply. I very much appreciate you taking the time to do so.
Thank you.
I remember that on my petition, i asked myself the same thing
It was such a great growth experience. I feel that it hurts membership numbers because of the requirements. It’s a double edged sword. It does set a standard which is important.
Consider this: It was a requirement back when our membership was at it's highest.
What is a Mason , second that! Smib
Here in Connecticut depending on which jurisdiction/lodge your in you'd have to either memorize or have the book with you to do your proficiency now prince hall masons they all do it by memory if you dont know it by heart you wont advance
Interesting Brother. I think the good thing for the mind and it shows your lodge that I have the tools and skill to take the chair. If not get couch him though and he can help in other ways.
Have appreciated your videos which I would label "Craftsmanship Made Simple "
Thank you very much, I am glad you have enjoyed them.
the Grand Lodge of Ohio has a Master Craftsman program which we are implementing...we just need candidates!
Focus on the men you already have. Do programs for them. Keep the lodge busy. The more folks see men at the lodge the more they want to ask what goes on there, and poof, more members.
I just completed the PA Master Builder program requirements. It was a great way to integrate into the Fraternity over the first year. As far as I know only 2 of us that were raised over the past year took part in the program. i have been urging new brothers to take part, but many do not want to devote the time needed. I think they are missing a lot.
Yeah, I thought how do I’m doing to do this I’m terrible memorizing things but it’s possible! 👍
You can do it!
Thank you and keep up the good work
You are welcome, I shall try!
I would love to see you talk with WB Ben Wallace of 357 Productions.
Maybe one day they'll reach out to me. I find it hard to keep up with the other Freemasonry related podcasts, blogs, youtube channels, etc., but will try to become familiar with WB Ben Wallace.
Today they will check my proficiency... what thing I should remember?? During meeting?
Sorry I did not see this when you posted it. I hope your proficiency was well received.
Where do EA's usually meet?
Initated today it was amazing
Hey brother let me ask you a question, do you have to be a math genius or very math literate to become a mason, like understanding compasses, architecture and science?.
Not in the least.
The tools are used as tangible symbols through which we impart philosophical, moral, and rhetorical maxims. Strictly speaking: we don't use them for their "intended purposes"
Hello good brother, what was the name of the book that was shown in this video,I think it’s at the 4:39 mark, thanks!
That is a Holy Bible that has a preface of Masonic teachings. It can be purchased here: amzn.to/2EOfHUO
What is a Mason Ok thank you!
I just went through my Fellowcraft degree and Missouri doesn’t require a proficiency but I feel like I could do it
Hello, If you join free masonry, are you oblige to change your religion?
No, not at all. Freemasonry does NOT dictate how you worship.
@@WhatisaMason Thank you.
Just for my own clarification, when someone is accepted into a lodge are they automatically considered an apprentice or is there something that has to take place for even the title to be conferred?
What's is the difference between a Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons vs Prince Hall affiliated and Accepted Masons? And since we all mason why don't we all just come together and bridge that color gap. Everything so 1900s
I agree with you about us coming together. The "color gap", as you phrase it, should not exist in Freemasonry, let alone in humanity at all. As for the difference between those Prince Hall groups I am afraid that I have to admit that I simply do not know.
PHA is the general term for regular Prince Hall Lodges, Lodges that go with the moniker Prince Hall "Free and Accepted" are almost all "Regular", SOME Prince Hall "Ancient, Free and Accepted" are also regular but many are not PHA but are PHO which is generally a clandestine group. The best way to tell is to see which other GLs recognize the one you are interested in associating with.
I agree that the color gap is unfortunate, but in most states the PHA and "State" GLs are in communication and full rights of visitation are in place. Sadly a few states are still not in harmony. However, I can't agree with merging the two traditions together. The PH traditions and ritual have developed into a unique experience which, I believe would be lost or diluted in a merger. When the Antients and the Moderns decided to unite in the early 19th century, the various GLs modified their rituals to be some amalgam of the two, with the exception of PA, where no Modern Lodges existed at the time of merger. Basically the Antient ritual survives only in PA and a pure Modern ritual no longer exists. It would be a shame to lose the richness of the PH rituals in the same way. i think mutual recognition and visitation is a better path.
Keith Curtis Your first paragraph is a fairly nice summary. Anyone who has a further interest in the differences between PHA and PHO, and the grand jurisdictions whose names include F&AM and AF&AM need only do a little research on their own.
Making a study of the origins of the different jurisdictions is worth the effort-except for Apprentices. They have enough to study already. Lol
What happens if I wasn’t assigned a mentor?
Why have I been given pennys? Just curious? Why they told me to hide them
Can an entered apprentice wear a masonic ring or wear a shirt with masonic print?
May I suggest you check out this video of mine? th-cam.com/video/IG_TAwgMNYI/w-d-xo.html&index=44&list=PLsiaPo6wAGHT-_qlNyDjuN6KroJ01lXTm
This is what I need help with. I can't remember my exam. It's just not sticking.
Did your lodge not assign you to a mentor? If not, reach out to a member and ask to study.
I read somewhere that if you want something that you are learning to stick that you must invest at least 20 hours into it before you will be able to reasonably know it. Most people never learned how to learn. It is not taught in to many schools. Whatever you do brother Santos, do not give up. If you want to learn it, and it sounds like you do, keep trying it will stick like glue sooner or later. I personally think it is worth every sacrifice that you make to learn it.
Good teaching
Thank you
Sir should I ask the lodge if there is a test of proficiency to move forward
I don't know any particular reason why you "should", but you certainly could - no harm in asking that question.
Seems like a reasonable request. But my lodge told me after the initiation I had to do the memory work.
Thank you
You are very welcome!
I tried to take in all what was said to me in my initiation.. but it seemed so quick... and could not retain more than 20%.....
Hopefully these videos can spark some memories, and hopefully there will be other Initiations near you that you can attend and see it all over again... or for the first time :-)
This is worth doing 👍
Here in the UK you have in theory do a proficiency test but you are prompted to the point that your told what to say. On by my third Id learned 90% although did freeze and since heard my wife practicing ritual almost daily. She is raised but often acts has a candidate to help OWF (order of women Freemason's) lodges practice. In my lodge you will often see two or three people with books out ready to prompt (Or practice themselves) the OWF frown on this and expect everyone to have learned their ritual. But I guess their trying to show us their real Masons, which they are.
Appreciate ya!
i was asking the other guy if he was blu lodge or prince hall who had the pamplet. if i had that i would be done already. we are all "word of Mouth"
Why do you have your color balls shaped in a triangle is it a sign of illumination
You can learn the mystery of the multicolored spheres in this video: th-cam.com/video/-abkCDbUtqc/w-d-xo.html
I'm interested in becoming a Mason. I have been told that the fraternity emphasizes brotherhood and helps build moral character, etc. I recently learned that Masonry still practices racism and discrimination with in its lodges. Is this true ? Are not all men who join the fraternity treated like brother's regardless of the color of their skin?
There is an important distinction to make here. Freemasonry does NOT practice racism or discrimination. Period. Check out the wording in this video: th-cam.com/video/PHwD7-qlqPg/w-d-xo.html
However, despite Freemasonry teaching that all men are on the level, some men, the vast minority mind you, still can't get past the prejudices their parents ingrained into them. This is changing, but slowly.
Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened unto you.
I have to do my E.A. on September 3rd. I am stuck on the obligation. It's so hard, but I want this bad.
How did it go?
I'm a entered apprentice were do I find the q&a in my Masonic bible plz lmk
If you have a masonically themed bible, like this one ( amzn.to/2qOTQGP ), they are usually in the front, before the actual start of the Holy Bible. However, such things are at the pleasure of the publisher. Your copy may not have them in there at all.
