Holy fucking shit, what an amazing run, I watched the whole thing and wasn't disappointed, John's mind has to be the most resilient one I've ever seen.
I remember sitting in study hall with my crappy launch model GBA dying in King stage 2 over and over and over and over and over and over again. Watching this video is basically reliving that experience.

I remember watching the King Fortress stages, leaving for a nearly 2 hour long dinner and seeing they were still on the King Fortress stages
John, you poor soul. You can actually hear him die inside by the end.
And yet somehow according to John, X6 with basic X is worse I fear to imagine what that is like.
KelvinBelmont platforms that are not built for x unless you have the shadow or blade armor you also need a jump ability equipped. And in extreme mode the enemies are harder to kill more intelligent actively attack you when you jumping over pits and areas where death isn't a possibility it's a guarantee. The bosses are harder to kill the number of enemies doubles and finding Health drops are extremely rare. Johnny would have rip the hair out of his head like Homer Simpson if you would have played that game. Playing extreme mode as zero is easier but if you don't get the shock buffer or start the game as black armor zero( halfs damage ) you screwed when you fight nightmare King.
X6 with an ARMORED X on normal mode is hard enough

I bought this game for the SNES a month or so back and I'll be completely honest, this is my 3rd favorite game in the classic mega man series. The soundtrack is phenomenal, the sprite work (though directly taken from MM8) is beautiful, and while I will agree that burner man is a spastic just like quick man and that king stage 2 is a little too long, I find the game enjoyable and really fun.
Megaman's look at the end of the game is how I feel after playing this game

Mega Man Battle Network 5 & 6 *SPOILERS* actually reuse Colonel and Iris from Mega Man X4. If you're playing the DS version of Mega Man Battle Network 5, Colonel actually gets a Russian voice actor. I'm dead serious!!! Also Lan gets voiced by Mark Gatha, the voice actor for Mega Man X in X8, Command Mission and Maverick Hunter X.
How is he as Lan outta curiosity?
Not bad, his voice is a bit too deep tho as lan is only like 14 at that point.

Nah, this game has some questionable moments but the entirety of X6 is a questionable moment.
At least in X6, I can use an Cheat Code to unlock Ultimate Armored X & Black Zero to cheese my way out and I can see where I'm going. And even though many of the level designs in X6 is bad, it's nowhere near as atrocious as this game. Also and most importantly, it has E Tanks.
This is my favorite mega man game, at least of what I have played.
This is the most satisfying run to watch in segments. Hats off to Johnny. I love Rockman & Forte SFC but care less and less for Mega Man & Bass (GBA version) based on my own experiences with it (having beaten it 3 times) and watching how bullshit the screen size and lack of dash button for Bass makes things.
This made me laugh so much, same goes for Ghost 'n Goblins stream XD
Wily comes out of nowhere in this just like Sigma does in X6.

Keaton true the ice wall is also good for destroying the back compartment. Just get clothes and spamming also if you're fighting King tank 2 use the lightning to hover over the platforms when he starts throwing flash bangs

I know this is a old playthrough, but my strategy for making the final phase of King tolerable is this:
Have the weapon energy saver equipped.
- Do not destroy the tread as it allows the robot to get closer for the flame burner. I reserve that weapon exclusively for the head.
- Reserve the mine for the gem.
- I actually use the ice wall for the floating orbs. As long as you don't move around and cause them to scatter, they will come at you in your trajectory in a compact pattern. The ice wall will decimate them all at once.
As long as you are precise and patient, this boss isn't all that bad.
Even so, the fight against it is still BS.
The Auto Charge is actually a helpful item in Megaman & Bass. And then I use beat the bird along with the double damage part, for Wily bcuz wily...

Who told you to not get Beat? He gives you a barrier that's immune to damage (drains wep energy over time). But if I recall correctly, you can cancel it before it drains, essentially giving you an infinite amount. ._.

Thanks I used BEAT A lot its Broken its like your invincible and BTW Best level to farm Bolts Intro Srages Get Magic Card Use Energy Saver amd Spam Magic cards on the Drill Bots and you get bolts like crazy get 999 exit buy upgrades go back lather rinse repeat
Yeah, Beat breaks the game, even if you use it as intended it makes it so you don't have to bother dodging when King has his shield.

I feel this game could have been just ever so slightly better had they given you the option to switch between megaman and bass like you could X and Zero in future megaman x games, let bass handle stages and megaman handle certain boss's (not the second tank boss of course since without bass's double jump you'd be doomed)
Not to sound like someone who uses/likes reddit, but I beat the 2nd boss in the king tower 2 level with Rockman. The fist attack isn't bad at all because use can stay in the air for a short time if you use the dynamoman weapon. Once you know that it's piss easy.
Yeah, the weapons have a lot of utility in general and this game really wants you to use them compared to most of the Mega Man games. Lightning Bolt is how I beat the flying tank. You can just spam it and literally hover in the air and with the energy saver you've already taken down most of its health.
Even so, u can't denied the design of the boss fight is still atrocious.

Well for good you if you liked it. But for me, I still say the game is still pretty atrocious with all the poorly level design & stupidity difficulty.
The only way I could beat this game is via tool-assistance lmao, this game loves its really precise platforming and incredibly aggressive enemy and trap placements.
You know those times where hearing most of the commentators don't have much interest or past experience with a game or series you really want to hear them talk about to maybe spread awareness?
Yeah, Battle Network is a pretty big one for me here. I wish even one person had some semblance of an opinion on the main series, but all we really get is Clement not sure what to think of it.

Funny thing about Yoku Blocks? Capcom KNOWS they suck and everyone hates them. There's a moment in Mega Man X DiVE where you come across Yoku Blocks and the main character makes a comment on it about how you just keep trying until it becomes muscle memory. It's funny, but still. Fuck Yoku Blocks XD

I'm gonna say it, I like the GBA version of this game.

@@jjc4924 I simply just think it's fun to play. I like playing through as both Megaman and Bass, the music is really good, graphics are a treat and most of the bosses are fun to fight. I don't find the game to be as poorly designed as most people think, and the areas I do have trouble with i'm usually able to find a good way to traverse them (ex using lightning bolt against King Jet as Megaman to save myself from death). It's also quite fun to collect the CD's and unlock the data base entries.
I would of course prefer to play the SFC version, but since I don't have one, my only choice was playing the GBA version on the Gamecube Gameboy player.
Well good for you. U either must be an godlike to this game or simply played them on the Wii U Virtual Console for save feature. Because let's face it. Even if you enjoyed the game for whatever reason, u can't denied on how poorly these design choices are & how brutal it is. Even if you have an easier time with Bass, the level designs are still terrible.
@@jjc4924 no doubt this game has poor design, like Magic Man, King Jet and King Stage 3 for instance, however it's not enough for me to have a bad time. I find the game managable as both Mega and Bass, but a bit harder as Mega. The reason why I don't find it as hard as others might be because i've beaten all classic games and all X games multible times prior, so that might have been able to "train" me for this. All in all, it has flaws and can be frustrating sometimes, but I still find it a fun and challanging game, even on the GBA.
Also, I played it using an original cartridge on the Gameboy player, so no savestates.
Hm. Well there are minority out there that likes it. So it's good if you enjoyed it. But to most other people, we rather just stay away from the game. Especially from the likes of Burner Man's stage & himself and King Fortress 2 stage with King Tank 1 & 2. Fuck them!.

I personally found III on the Game Boy to be much harder than the original & Bass, but I haven't played the awful GBA version anyways
