Another competitor is getac that's another brand that is highly expensive probably outranks both Panasonic and Dell but if you ever get your hands on a getac be sure to do a review of that because I know a lot of Fire & EMS use that a lot
I've had the rugged 14 since 2014. Still the same machine structurally as today's version. I use it in a construction environment. It has stayed in the truck on a Ram mount when not being carried around the job. I have had great luck with mine in extreme cold (0 dgrees +-), moderate midwestern heat (100 +-), and very dusty environments. I have avoided damp and wet environments as much as possible for the reasons you have mentioned. The speed has been reliable and unlike most computers, I have owned, it has not slowed down with age. I run standard office programs, image editing software and cad viewers mostly. Because mine is an "older" system, it has had frequent locking issues after the recent install of windows 10. (no more support for 7, urgggh). The screen is still bright with no color variation or pixel loss. Highly recommend this for "non-wet" use. Dell also has a rugged "extreme" 7404 for people who need to drag theirs through the mud. Thanks for the video.
I have a Dell 5404 rugged laptop. Bought refurbished from Dell with the i5, touch screen, and sealed backlit keyboard. After upgrading the RAM to 16GB, swapping the hard drive for a Samsung SSD, and upgrading the battery. This is the best laptop I've ever owned
@@NoIceOnParadise haven't tried, honestly that's one of my favorite features of this laptop. There are 2 Phillips screws on the handle mounts, might try removing them. The handle is nice to have in my opinion, saves room in your bag
I read online that some of these have "Nvidia GeForce (N14M-GE) Discrete Graphics Card, 2 GB Graphics" does anyone know if you can add this to a stock i5, 8gb ram, and ssd?
It sure can be! We don't have any of the 5404s in stock right now, but we do have some of the 5424s. Here's a link to the page with the specs if your interested: www.bobjohnson.com/dell-latitude-5424-intel-core-i5-8350u-1-70ghz/ Thanks for watching!
