If Behren takes all of the meaningful snaps this season, HEALTHY, we dont have a game on our schedule that worries me. We will have a chance at a truly special season.
Xerox U and Iowa State will scare me even if the entire team is 100% healthy. McGuire hasn't been good on the road and those are two good teams and tough environments. Besides that... everything else should be easy money.
In an ideal world:
- Morton is at 100% by August 31st.
- Morton only needs to play 3 quarters for the OOC games.
- Cam Brown does all the QB run/option plays.
- Morton stays healthy all season.
Coy Eakin will be our best WR in 2024. He will lead in TD receptions and possibly rec yards, but probably not yards per catch, but he will be the guy we are talking about in December. I think the guy from WSU and Hudson will be good & probably someone else steps up, but Morton's go to is, was, and will be Eakin & can handle it.
I think Eakin will lead in receptions but Kelly will lead in yards. Kelly is a YAC machine, has more speed, and is more elusive. Eakin seems to be very close to Morton and they have a connection. But I think Kelly's legs will give him more yards in the end. Then Micah will be 3rd on that list if I had to guess.

Appreciated the insight Level provided on Morton's rehab. I didn’t realize Morton's trip to Florida was that influential on his progress to date.
I’m excited for healthy Behren Morton and his chance at a full season to show his full potential with some upgraded receiving weapons.
That being said, OFFENSIVE LINE! You have to protect him, give him time to throw, keep him upright and healthy. A 300 pound DL with a free run on the qb could send this season sideways in a hurry.
Run blocking is also super important. Valdez and Dickey need bigger run lanes than Tahj and we want to be able to give Tahj a lighter load, not only to protect him but also so he can close out games in the 4th quarter.
O-Line people. It’s huge for this team. And I won’t believe it until I see it given the history of the last 10 years.
Really glad on his progress!! If he can stay healthy, watch out!!!
I don’t know how a I will act if we manage to keep a quarterback healthy this year.

When I saw the video on Friday , it made my weekend. Taking it as a great and very positive data point. Hoping and thinking that the O Line is making the most of the workout time Chris talked about. Can’t wait till August!! WreckEm!!
Definitely a mid-June conversation, but for us die-hards, it is a welcome one. Tech's best outcome this season only happens with Behren behind center for the majority of the meaningful snaps. Silly video, but brought a smile to my face heading into the weekend.
Questions for you guys? I am seeing a good number of basketball alumni posting from Lubbock. Has Tech basketball developed a culture within itself despite the upheaval in coaching throughout last five years that is bringing these guys back in the summers? Is there one former player catalyst that drives it? Does Grant encourage this? Are there any serious runs with the old guys and the current team like we use to hear about at UCLA, UNC, and others?
I’ve seen pics of several players from the most recent Sweet 16 team with current players. It looked like before or after some kind of workout.
Maybe I'm naive but I haven't really been all that stressed about his shoulder. People do heal. I'm also guzzling the kool aid. I expect a fantastic season from #2.
I'm less worried about his shoulder and more worried about another bad o-line that leads to him having a different injury.

With our key pieces healthy it’s not out of the question to dream about being a part of the first 12 team playoff.
The o-line and defense will have to take a MASSIVE step up for that to happen IMO. If Morton and Brooks stay healthy I think we've got a good chance of going to Arligton. But winning the Big 12 and making the playoffs all falls on the o-line and defense.
If Morton and Brooks stay healthy, it'll be a very fun season. If one goes down, it could be a very bad season.
I hope Tech can leverage the deep throws to pull a couple of DBs downfield and opens up the field. Taj may be able to add a yard to his average per carry. The short and medium routes may be open for TT to make a living similar to the early Leach years. That alone may add a win to the projected win total.

Sounds like more serious than an AC sprain. Those are fairly common and QBs usually are back in a few weeks.

My 1st thought was do the coaches know he’s uncorking the ball like that and do they approve of it. 2nd thought was whether they would have rather he keep it a secret until the season started.

Sadly I will never stop worrying about this injury but glad he's feeling good and glad he's throwing. Was worried he was gonna go cold into July/August resting it. Things can get out of whack when you're forced to just rest and not throw (arm, eyes, mechanics, all of it). I may not be completely sold on what the ceiling looks like yet but I know it will be a solid season if we can keep a QB healthy.
I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I don't believe Tech's QB1 will play more than half of the season until proven otherwise. But I'm also glad Morton is feeling better and can still make these massive throws. I'm worried less about Morton's current health but I still hold the opinion that Tech's QB1 wont finish the season due to recent PTSD. Hope I'm proven wrong because I can see a double digit win season if Morton plays in every game.

Kittley needs to abandon the QB run option with Morton. There's no reason for it. We have weapons galore at WR and a top 5 RB behind him. Let Cam Brown handle the QB option stuff.
Texas Tech has had 14 seasons in a row where we lose our starting QB ands rely on a backup. thats why we cant win and have nice things
Plans function best when they are executed ⌛. The first arrow always hits the mark 🎯. No bad deeds go un punished. I jacked my shoulder up from bowling a few years ago 🎳. 2 handed roll with what I know now with bad form contributed to the injury. Compounded by using the heaviest ball. Need to see a shaman to heal it up 😂. Wheres my shaman mask 🤿😂. I can understand shoulder pain. If your going to talk a big game you must back it up with big game. Pay attention to the lightning strikes. When the bullets start flying in life it is then "time" to show what you are made of. There is a time to be strong 💪. Sports is a great simulator. Remember you are immortal. We are all beyond god like. Leach would have won a National Championship 🏆 with Patrick Mahomes? The "past" is interesting to ponder 🤔. I would like to hear both the OC and the QB say we are going to win Championships. Is the OC positioning himself to be able to be the OC of a North Texas ( no disrespect ) team? Or is the OC/QB on the hunt for Championships? I would like to see an update of the players work out shirts having CHAMPIONSHIPS on the t shirts 👕. On this team the OC holds the cards for Championships. Defense has laid their hand down 4 aces. Can we win Championships with our defense? Absolutely. I dont foresee the track record from the defense changing anytime soon. What hand will the OC place down on the table this upcoming season? All eyes on the OC/QB 👀💪🦾🧠✍❤🔥
