- After 3 months with the GoPro Hero5 Session, here are the best settings for stable and high-quality video in most scenarios (text of settings below too).
UPDATE: I've stopped filming in 2.7K altogether. I don't see the point as barely anyone has 2.7K/4K monitors. I've dropped down to 1080P and increased the frame rate to 60FPS for very fluid videos - it looks great. The rest of the settings remain the same. The main benefit of 2.7K for me is to cropped into the picture when editing a 1080P video. You have that option to zoom into the image and create a new frame - but I barely do this anyway. Filming in 2.7K will also future proof your videos so when everyone does have 4K monitors your videos will look great, it's up to you if you care about that or not. Also, if shooting at 60FPS turn auto low light on - it'll reduce the frame rate to 30 to let more light in and give you a brighter image if filming in dark places.

It’s actually opposite with the whitebalance :)
The higher the number, the blue’er it is
I set to 5500K for most sunny days, sharpness to low (add that in post) exposure to -.1and flat color (adjust in post)..

These settings aren't available in the app for Hero5 Session... Can you tell me how to activate and use these settings. I thought you had to fiddle with the 2 buttons on the camera to adjust settings.
Going to a outdoor obviously daytime aviation show (blue angels) w/hero5session & wonder what would be best settings (also might want to do slow motion? Not sure if I do that in video studio later in editing or if gopro has to be set in a certain way to do it later).
Going to have the camera running continuous most likely head mounted so I can watch instead of mess with camera.

just connected my hero 5 session to the gopro Quick app. ( I guess it has been updated) impossible to turn the beeps off. I can turn the LED blink off . but nowhere in set up do I see beep like in your video. I guess because the app has been updated and now the beep can not be turned off. I film wildlife and now the beep scares the animals away. Any solutions. Thanks Mate.

Karl when your using 1080 do you also leave auto low light on or off?
Auto low light on if you're filming in 60FPS. It'll drop the frame rate to 30 if the camera decides it needs more light. Or you may get a really dark 60FPS image. GoPro is terrible in low light, make sure you have lots of light if filming at night or indoors in dim light.

I'm not seeing an option to turn on ProTune - any idea how to get that done?
they disabled it in the last update(7.3.1), totally ridiculous... download the 7.1 version, it will get the job done

Gopro removed the ProTune setting! The official manual still lists it as a feature too. Can't believe I bought this. Does anyone have an older firmware version that contains the ProTune feature?

So I have a GoPro her session and the coloring and lighting aren’t great. I don’t know how to fix it. Do you fix it in a program or is it a setting in the app?
Hey Erica, GoPro's don't work well at night - lighting will be bad. During the day in bright light they're best. Colouring you can turn off GoPro colour, turn on pro tune, and colour grade in premiere - but that's quite advanced.
Are you using on board audio or some kind of external set up?

The stabilization looks amazing on it!
Video stabilization works on 2.7k 48 and it just can't go higher than 60
But only in Medium field of view.

How do you manage to film discreetly in public ?
+Haris King I don't film discreetly. The camera is clipped onto my backpack strap or hand held on a small selfie stick. So it's very visable. If you want to film discreetly go for a pinhole shirt button type camera.

Cool, crashed my gopro and now it's frozen.
Hold the power button for 10 seconds. It'll restart. Mine kept crashing because I was using a poor quality SD card.
