Everyone dunking on the Fortune - I love it. I go out, I scrape, buffer fills, it auto ejects, I take four boxes off the side and shove them in the back, it auto-ejects 4 to replace it, I top off buffer, I park at freight elevator, and I unload it from the sides and the elevator without anything getting stuck, glitching through a cargo ramp and disappearing, or having to fiddle with min-maxing box placement. Not to mention the clearance under the ship makes unloading both sides extremely fast.
Don't forget that each buffer will get 1scu jammed. So if you set them to auto eject before you start scraping, you can get 12 on grid, 2 jammed, and 13 in buffer without having to leave the seat.
Nicely done! I did find a problem while using my Fortune last night. With Auto on both panels, once you fill both sides with boxes, you get a Blocked warning which keeps you from filling the storage hopper from scrapping. I believe you have to go back to the panels and turn off the AUTO, so you can scrape and fill your hopper. Will be testing this latter today, will post if confirmed.
Great job, Cap. You got farther with testing than I did. I ran into a series of bugs with it that stopped me from testing the different scrapers. You can move the modules with a backpack, btw.
Glad you are actually able to play, I'm stuck on New Babbage with no way to get to my hanger since CIG can't even manage to keep elevators working after 13 years of development. I'm drawing near the end of my time with Star Citizen if they don't make some serious improvements soon.
When you go to the NBIS asop terminals from the metro station, up the stairs ... most people instinctively pick the left-most elevator. The right-most elevator did work. That led to people hogging the elevator and trying to jump in it. But the elevator only gets a destination to your hangar if you called the elevator. So you need to have called the elevator. Can't jump queue.
The thing I'm not sure I like about the Fortune is that the exterior cargo actually kinda turns against you when you go to unload. Step 1: Unload cargo Step 2: Go back up the ladder/elevator and eject from the buffer Step 3: Unload cargo Step 4: Go back up the ladder/elevator and eject that last 1 SCU from the 13 SCU buffer Step 5: Unload 1 SCU of cargo At least with the Vulture I can park up next to a cargo elevator and fling boxes out the back as they come off the printer.
You can do that on this, too. It auto ejects until the grid is full so if you are standing outside pulling boxes off as they reject it will keep going.
I know its cool to hate on the fortune right now but I like it better than my vulture. I like the cockpit view, I like not having to not leave my seat if I don’t want to.
I don't know if it is my imagination, but it seems to me to take longer to strip a ship than it does a panel. As for the Fortune, it is a great buy if you enjoy mediocrity. If the crates double stacked auto-magically, then it would have been worth the sacrifice of the second head. It's like they did not analyze the data on how we use the Vulture. We jam that thing with 37 boxes on average before we fly back. The Fortune is a missed opportunity. TBH, I really wanted something that fit between the Reclaimer and Vulture, that auto-stacked the boxes. Nice video Capt. Thanks!
Would love to see a fortune vs vulture test maxing out storage and adding unload time, the cargo hold would need to be stacked out and the same type of ship salvaged. Clearly the vulture will be faster but I think the fortune offers its own time efficiencies.
As it stands its the same price as the vulture yet the vulture does what this does just better and faster. One of two things will make it worth the price point. Either make the head scrape faster or make a second despenser in the back so you dont have to eva to fill those last 4 boxes just move them how you would in the vultcher. Otherwise your paying the same for less
Possible Bug - Did you test the ejectors to see if the Fortune has the dupping bug that makes infinite rmc boxes the way the Vulture did when it first came out?
The breakdown Cinch: takes longer, but you get the most RMC. Abrade: good balance between speed and output. Trawler: when you need to make a ship disappear fast (illegal missions) - but since you can fracture a ship while it is still 100% unscraped, trawler looses it purpose.
Trawler is good for those nooks and crannies that you can’t be bothered to precision scrape with a cinch. Also once you fracture only the main part retains scrapeable area, at least in my testing. Some non-main parts may have area that can be scraped but gives no rmc.
sir idk about 4.01 but in Preview i bought my trawlers at stanton gateway in pyro at platbay and erkl didnt have them listed ppl say no rentals in pyro no this no that but gateway has it all so ye give it a look if u want
since i was at gateway i checked my self in pyro they got rid of trawler at the stanton gateway but they still got the abrade .everywebsite i goto has false info on parts rn except one CStone shows wat erkl is wrong about CStone is correct on scraper modules
So!, if i melt the Vulture i'll loose the gorgeous Buccaneer, not an issue as i'll buy one, yet i do belive ''No Loaner for the Fortune'' is probably an oversight.........possibly?
2 layers of boxes on the sides wouldn't make sense with the auto ejection system. Plus 7 SCU (2+3+2) fits comfortably inside (depending on the user) so around 36SCU overall. Decent hauls compared to Vulture.
Yeah ... should have had a bigger scu capacity, would easy have been able to have a 3X3 grid in two layers on each side, which would have made it so much better and a lot closer to what the Vulture are capable of
Fortune isnt enough benefit for the cost for me so ill stick with my vulture. Giving it more grid space though would make it a vulture killer. A way i think it could be made a potential choice without killing the vulture would be to allow it to print 2 scu boxes 2 abrades for main scraping, one trawler for cleaning up the last 1%
In practice the abrade is miles better than the others. I've timed entire runs and dozens of panels. The Abrade propertiesjsut make it so much faster. On my Vulture I always use 2 Abrade and only scrape large panels. I only scrape the smaller triangle panels if I need just 1-2scu more for a load, so I don't have to find another panel spawn. But If I don't think I can get enough scu from a full load with what's left at a spot with abrade but can with Cinch then I'll switch. Saves a few minutes from time to time. Otherwise straight up Abrade is far superior even with the reduced efficiency.
People with missing mission markers try verifying the game files worked for me. I do this between every version of the game and ive had no problems with markers since
Shouldn't you have compared salvage heads while scraping the panels i.e. panels are the exact same size to pick the same sized ones to test. But thanks for this.
you selected a bad mission. I took for 50K a constellation mission and got 1 SCU quant 6 gold and plus the salvaging I finally made a bit over 150K so 100K+ profit. I used vulture of course but I fully agree with you that they should put second row of boxes on the grid. Now this ship is not competitive to vulture.
Time to scrape the same scu of salvage for the Fortune vs the Vulture is *not* equal, because of the number of heads. Vulture can produce 2x as fast, has way better flight characteristics, yet the ships cost the same. Fortune should not cost more than a Prospector considering how much weaker it is than its competitor
Your also forget the interior, way easier to stack your containers in the Vulture than the Fortune (both ships can bear 39 scu in total), you don’t even have to move to do it with the Vulture, for the Fortune you need to go outside to take containers one by one… and i don’t even talk about the f*cking doors… It should have been labelled around 130 or less. But maybe CIG will give him a size 2 salvage head very soon.
And yet it is *far* superior for team based salvage. New ships are only "competitors" in that they are similar price points in a similar role, but their specifics and gameplay styles vary wildly, making them useful in their own ways. Just like how every car manufacturer has a sedan, a compact, a hatchback, a SUV etc. every ship corporation will likely have a version of each role for every ship job, with enough variation to make them all useful in a variety of ways. The days of every new ship being a new meta may be (thankfully) over.
@ Its marketed as a solo salvage ship, not a team-based salvage ship. It is possible to defend the Fortune with other strengths but multicrew isn't applicable here.
and it could also have a tier 1 medbed and exploration style scanning station and a place to craft stuff and drones and 6 size 6 weapons. it should all fit

I agree - it should really be able to take two layers to compensate for the slower scraping to make the Fortune more viable.

I've just been using mine for cargo hauling. The SCU space is enough for those 72k missions

You can fit quite a few inside as well so 12 x SCU, 4 on cargo, 13 internal buffer, but you can actually fit around another 10 inside not on grid

Too bad the boxes don't move out like they do in the trailer. Looks kinda funny ejecting into an existing box and the warping to the grid.
The real missed fortune is that cig develpoed another small salvage ship instead of making a medium sized one and raking in another mil.

Dumb question could you hostile (pirate) tractor the boxes off using another ships turret tractor beam, Taurus/corsair/c1/cutlassB.

I can fit 16 scu inside easily off the grid, CiG claims it can hold 18 in the QA but I couldn't make that happen lol.

I did a full fresh install for 4.0.1. Markers are still broken
Alt+F4 then rejoin your session to get your mission markers back. Ik this sounds like bait but it actually works
