    This week, I attempt shooting long exposures on Portra 800 again. This time around, I use my Bronica SQ. Ran into a few issues (classic), but was still able to create some solid images! Hope y'all enjoy.

    When taking photos in a place you might not technically be allowed, just wear a safety vest. No one will question you.

    I like how you describe the compositions before showing the shots. For some of us newbies it gives us a good idea of what you're looking for plus shutter speeds, f number, etc. Nice video!

    I’m hoping to experiment with long exposure using my Bronica too. The way you edited this video together is so comforting. It’s almost like having a chat with a friend. And don’t worry too much about forgetting to change your settings, because I do that often. If not that, then I forget to take the slide out 😩 but anyway, I enjoyed watching this video and am looking forward to watching more! ☺️

    My bronica doesn't like gravity that much either.

    you said "not having a bulb mode available". there is a bulb mode on the lens. the T setting on the lens holds the shutter open until you flick the switch again. the benefit of that is it is completely manual so it only uses the battery to initially fire the shutter. that little mental screw or tab depending on if it's the S or PS lens just gets pulled out so you can move the slider from A to T.

    Throwing a 80a or 80b filter on your camera will help with the orange cast. Your photos are looking orange because you are shooting daylight balanced film in a tungsten lit environment. Thanks for the video!!! I want to shoot at night now!

    Hey man, when using the lightmeter app, do you choose your f stop and then see what shutterspeed to use or how do you work with it? Kinda new to film photography so thought I’d ask :)

    How do you do long exposures longer than 8 seconds? My Bronica SQ seems to only be able to take longer exposures if I use the "timed exposure" feature on the lens. Just picked this camera up last week and I'm loving it so far.

    • @BraeHunziker
      @BraeHunziker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the only way to do it that i know of is to use the manual switch on the lens

    I just stumbled across your videos, really enjoying them! i have only recently gotten into film photography and i am yet to take the dive into long exposure shots at night time - how do you know how long you are meant to expose the film for light for? Cheers from Northern Ireland!

    • @BraeHunziker
      @BraeHunziker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good stuff but I feel like you’re just wasting good film doing long exposure on high ISO film. After compensating for reciprocity failure your film speed doesn’t even matter anymore.

    • @BraeHunziker
      @BraeHunziker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea not really using it to try to get exposure times down at all. Mainly testing the color rendition of Portra 800 compared to 400 when shooting nighttime images. Portra 800 is my fav film all-around so wanted to see how it performed at night. 9/10 times I’ll shoot 400 instead.
