      @@Mike_Brandl of course man! I subbed! Definitely wanna see the turnout on this. Mine needs some help just as much as yours does. Ahhh the wooden headliner I have the same in my ‘85 right now 🤣🤣. My 700r4 works but she’s definitely tired… took it on a few road trips and just took it easy on the ole thing. Lucas transmission anti slip oil helped it a ton, pretty much a good band aid til I find some money for a manual swap or another 700r4 🤣. But yeah! Mines on my channel if you wanna check it out haha ✌️

    Our school district had a dozen of these ranging from '78's-1989 might have been the newest, most ran the 6.2 diesel a few had 350's , i remember the older ones with the gas motors were 4spd on the floor.

    • @Mike_Brandl

      Our local school district mostly had 88-98 trucks and a few older Dodge vans. One day I found 7 or 8 of them all sitting in the junkyard being sold for parts. 4spd Suburban sounds super rad!

    Nice truck here. A friend I know has a 1988 model. A two-tone silver and blue with blue interior with front bucket seats and console, it is fully equipped with a standard tailgate with an electric rear window defroster. The front end has the small quad headlights. His truck is from Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦 and has the metric speedometer, kilometers per hour large, miles per hour small, odometer registers in kilometers. You got a great truck here, and best of luck to you.

      Thanks so much! I love these old Squarebodies. When I was a baby my parents had 91 Suburban from a coach builder with the velour buckets, tons of wood paneling, and a tv with a vhs player! It was a great truck. My dad said they passed everything but a gas station in it!

      @Mike_Brandl interesting fact is that the 1987 model year. The C series 2 wheel drive became the R series. The K series became the V series. This was from 1987 to 1991. The redesigned C and K series trucks were introduced in 1987 as a 1988 model. The Suburban and Blazer would get a redesign for the 1992 model year.

    It's easier to find a turbo 350-400 , you don't need the overdrive its only a .72-.75 ratio anyway.

    • @Mike_Brandl
      @Mike_Brandl  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve considered getting my friend’s t350 from him when he swaps to a 6.2/10spd in his truck, but I think I’d miss overdrive. With that truck my ultimate goal is to drive it cross-country to Dino’s Git Down, a massive Chevy truck show, in Arizona.

      @Mike_Brandl  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, sir! I don’t want to say how much I have into it until I sell it to the next owner, but I’ll say this: it would be a great deal if it was from a private seller but expensive for a junkyard!

  • @Yousitech
    @Yousitech 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It’s not totally a base model as it has the velour seats and carpet in the back. Base didn’t come with a 3rd row had vinyl floors and seats. This looks more like cheyenne or scottsdale trim

    • @Mike_Brandl
      @Mike_Brandl  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re right. It’s a Scottsdale. I know the front buckets and console were swapped in at some point because there is a middle seatbelt receptacle on the driver’s seat. The rear carpet was also added after the fact because it has the vinyl floor underneath it.

    • @KevinRichards-rk3gp
      @KevinRichards-rk3gp 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @vdub4201 Mike is right, it is an 89. 89 was the first year for the grille, headlight bezels, front blinkers, & emblems with those designs. It also has a trip odometer which was introduced in 88. 87 was the last year for the plain cab pickups with that body design, but the other models were still in production up through 91.

    • @KevinRichards-rk3gp
      @KevinRichards-rk3gp 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mike_Brandl 73 was the first year for those Chevy & GMC square body models. At the time, the nose on the front, interior, emblems, optional bodyside molding trim, & fleetside tailgate had a different design. Also not to forget the headlights were round shape up through 80 which was also the first year for square shape headlights which came standard on models with the Silverado & Sierra Classic trim levels & optional on models with the other trim levels. In 81, the nose on the front, emblems, optional bodyside molding trim, & fleetside tailgate were redesigned to the same styles as on that 89 except for the emblems, grille, headlight bezels, & front blinker lights which weren't produced until 89. The front bumpers on 81 - 82 year models had the same design as the ones on 83 - 91 year models except the ones on 81 - 82 year models had long horizontal rectangular shape holes for the front blinker lights.

    You should improve your editing. Imagine, all we saw was the wheel and the dashboard when you tried to key it until it start. We dont have any idea what's your old man fiddled to make it start. Thats a terrible camera work. Always mind your viewers, put yourself on our shoes. And the other thing, you keep saying its unbelievable that it start. Well, its not unbelievable. Its not an old truck. I can call it a modern truck. I saw a lot worse of" will it start " videos in you tube than this.

    • @Mike_Brandl
      @Mike_Brandl  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While I understand where you are coming from, the only thing we did to get it to start was shown on camera: spraying starting fluid into the throttle body. With a booster pack it started after a few turns of the key. The “unbelievable”part was that we thought we would have to replace the fuel pump and the fuel pump kicked on after starting it on starting fluid. To go from a truck in unknown condition picked up from the junkyard to a running and driving vehicle in less than an hour is “unbelievable” because the purchase was a gamble in the first place, modern truck or not. I’m by no means a professional in anything, and I am still trying to remember to film whenever I am working on the truck. I will try to do better going forward. Thank you for watching.
