  • Finally today I answer the question you all have been waiting for. How much does it pay working in Malaysia after graduating with a Biomedical Science Degree?
    Today, we'll look at government positions, specifically working as a Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) and I'll debunk why there is a misconception on how people perceive Biomedical Science graduates to be a low paying career. Stay tuned as I will update more on these soon, so remember to subscribe to my channel for more updates.

    Such positive vibes and informative videos. To add on, most hospitals usually have their own MLT programs so it's easier for the MLT students to get recruited (they still need to undergo entrance tests before qualifying for the MLT roles). They're hundreds if not thousands of people waiting in line for a 10 or less vacancy in SPA postings, so if you still want to go for routine 8-5 lab based work (with shifts), you can try out private sectors. Since the pandemic, many job opportunities has opened in the healthcare sectors, so explore!
    If you like researching, you can start out as research assistant (If you want to pursue Master or PhD, there are many things that you have to consider before saying yes to a project. Don't simply pursue Master or PhD because it's the common route, because trust me, postgrad is a tough journey- and that's a whole different segment😬). You can also venture into medical sales representative, clinical research coordinator, or look for openings as science officer.
    What's interesting is that as a Biomed grad, you can venture into many different fields that you like and build your career path from there: biotech, forensic science, pharmacy, dentistry, genetics, food science, biochem etc.
    I'm a biomed grad, and I'm currently pursuing postgrad in neuropharmacology in Faculty of Pharmacy. Challenging? Yes. But I'm always ironically up for challenges, if that makes sense 😆 Anyways, love the videos, keep doing em!

    If you look into UK job market, the most obvious career for a biomed undergraduate studnet is MLT, and need to make sure the degree course is IBMS accredited. However in msia it seems like mlt is more tailored for a diploma student

      I know the fact we cannot go into public sector because 1st requirement will be warganegara Malaysia. I want to know more about private sector like do they provide professional Visa, salary range and other information.

    • @JoanKSX
      @JoanKSX 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you should go around the private hospitals and ask, or just search up the official website of the private hospitals, they usually place some vacancy posting kind of ads on their own official website.
      I personally don't think there is postings for foreigners in Malaysian government sector since local contract staffs too is competing each other for the available vacancy, the competition is really great and currently no new postings created for more MLTs but the population of Malaysia has gone up so much already... too bad.
      As a foreigner, you might be recruited if you are a person with highly demanded and also rare type of specialist but not for MLTs posting for sure. The rest occupation pathway I'm not really sure.

      Yeah only some university are accredited but there are routes in which we can get HCPC registration if our degree not accredited by IBMS
