This is one of the reasons I love the internet and TH-cam. This video helped me as non-automotive techy to install my new rear speakers myself in under 2 hours. Thanks for uploading, really appreciate it!
+leceur Hi your welcome - we sell parts on the internet and this pays our wages etc so we love the internet too - and if this is a way we can give back its great ! What speakers did you install ? is the sound better ?
Front: Alpine SXE-17C2 and Rear: Alpine SXE-6925S. Sound is sooooo much better, even with the original OEM radio/cassetee installed. Saving up for a new radio/cd/usb player and sound will even be better :)
+leceur Did the speakers you chose fit perfectly or did you have to make it fit, Also did you replace the small speaker on the front panels. Loved the video by the way was clear and very helpful.
+Joseph Beck The front speakers in a Mini are not standard. You have to either use the shell of the old speakers, or buy adapter rings (like I did). Example ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51VHGFDV12L._AC_UL320_SR248,320_.jpg For the front I bought speakers with tweeters integrated so just removed the original tweeters and sold them :) The rear speakers are standard 16x9 size so any make/model that is 16x9 should fit.
Great Video!!!! This was so helpful in understanding how to remove the seats and side panels to get to the speakers in my 2003 Mini Cooper. I wouldn't have tried it if you hadn't shown the way. Installed my new speakers and they sound great. Also didn't know there was an emergency boot release..... That will come in handy someday.
thank you for this video. It is very clear what type and where the fasteners are. I am planning to upgrade my rear speakers in the near future, and now I know I can tackle this
Thanks soooo much for this video. Felt totally out of my depth swapping my interior, but this gave me the confidence to try and the knowledge to succeed!
This video was very helpful. The backseats in my 2005 had plastic surrounds for the child-seat anchors. With a good but gently pry they popped out and then I was able to follow the rest of the steps. Also just to note if any tabs are broke don't sweat it. Autozone has replacements for $3.
Just spent 40 odd minutes taking out practically everything in the rear of my R53 thanks to this video. I wanted to replace the stock 6x9 speakers. Much love.. Also, you've helped no end with my D4..
Thank you for sharing what you know on the internet : ) I have clumps of dog fur stuck in the plastic grating, and before I messed with it I needed to see someone else who knows more about cars do it first
Very helpful video. I used this to try and find the diversity amplifier in my R53 Cooper S after having weak FM reception problems. It is supposed to be behind the left side quarter panel. It wasn't. Not behind the right side or in the tail gate either. At least I now know how to get at the rubbish elliptical speakers for replacement one day. One additional thing is you have to push down and pull up on the middle of the bottom seat cushion near the central hinge bracket to get it to come out easily.
my accent is kind of messed up..... UK sure but born in Bristol - liven in Manchester / Southampton / London and lived in Thailand and worked with a lot of Americans over the years...
Sounds like a bumpy ride but whatever it has become it is excellent, most tech videos are very robotic in a way or most times the person doing the work seems very disinterested. This video is excellent, both of you seem to love what you're doing.
Nice one for sure ! But if you only want to replace the speakers, removing the seat, then clipping loose and tucking away the front half of the panels will provide plenty of room to do so.
Great video. my mini is a 2001 Mini One.Was able to follow this step by step. Only thing is I snapped and broke a couple of clips on the pillar panels.Think was due to age and being brittle (or I'm just stupid!) had to order new one!
I'll be doing my 2003 MCS very soon. I've already changed the door speakers to Kenwood coax and replaced the door tweeters with Kicker tweeters. The rear will be Jensen DUBX369. A bunch of deadening material and should be good to go. :)
I just want to tell you that if you want to take out the back seat of the r56 mini, you will have to take out the isofix "flaps" first, they are retaining the seat on the anker point
So on that mini you didn't even have to mess with the pillars and their corresponding airbags? On the 07 there is a hidden screw behind one of the pillars holding the big side panel on.

+leceur Thanks one more thing on the shopping list.
Make it look so easy. Sure I will make a mess of this, but your video has given me the confidence to at least try! Thanks guys

Was thinking of doing this to get a new pair of speakers in. Agree, that panel is way too big! This is a very clear and informative video. Thanks.

Great vid thanks, took 8 mins to watch and 10 mins to strip both sides of the car, perfect.
Thanks soooo much for this video. Felt totally out of my depth swapping my interior, but this gave me the confidence to try and the knowledge to succeed!
So cool - the internet can be such a good thing when used for the right things !

Love received and appreciated !
thank for this video. Was such BIG help. I'm just trying get to upgrade my speakers all throughout my 2006 mini R50.
Fantastic! Thank you very much guys.... excellent steady camera work.

Funny name...lol I get it
As the other said, great video I'm about to change the back seats and trim and wondered how, thanks.
No problem 👍

Literally the accent makes this video so much better than other auto tech videos.

Perfect video for those who need to change there fuel filter
Only the seats need to be taken out lol
Doing that this weekend
RESPECT boys!!!! Great Video!!!! Hi from Athens... R50 owner :)
Thanks for your time to share the video. Good tutorial!

Brill thanks guys. Just what I needed to see👍👍👍
Thanks man, this is what we going to do and fit a parcel type tray area for the dogs/ remove the seats all together.

Superb video, thank you
Do you have to take out the backseat to remove the side interior panels?
I just want to tell you that if you want to take out the back seat of the r56 mini, you will have to take out the isofix "flaps" first, they are retaining the seat on the anker point
Thank you :) ...is the seat removal the same for the convertible (R57)?
Really good video loads, thank you.
Thanks for uploading
How much weight do you reckon you got out by stripping the car?
Great video, just one question, can you make a video of how to remove the rear trunk chrome trim of a 2005 mini cooper r52?
1:46 what's the plastic bushing there called? Mines gone walkabout!
Thanks a lot for sharing this, do you have an example for a clubman too? Or is it the same prozedure?
Thank you!👍
Thank you it worked !!
So on that mini you didn't even have to mess with the pillars and their corresponding airbags? On the 07 there is a hidden screw behind one of the pillars holding the big side panel on.
How much weight is taken off gutting the interior down to pretty much just 2 front seats and dash ?
Did you find out? I'm looking at stripping my rest seats out for more storage
@@Ck011996 you are supposed to drop about 38lbs just by removing the rear seats
Anyone know how much weight this removes along with the sounds deadening
The rear speaker aperture is 22cm x 15cm in a 2003, by the way
What year was this Mini?
+Stephen Graham pretty sure it is 2004
+powerfulukltd thanks!
Mine don't come apart like this... Mine is a 2013, if that makes any difference
This doesn't work for 2013 LCi models onwards incase people are struggling
I have just bought a beauty of an r53 in Pure Silver. Only problem I have with it is it has hideous blue seats and a baby blue carpet 🤦🏻♂️
Blue is the new pink !
I wish my r53 didn't have a glass roof . That shit's heavy !
all that just to have access to the back speakers 💀😭
K
Thank you sir!
