I drove the new electric mini on Saturday - it was in JCW trim in grey with a red roof. It was great fun - really nice build quality and fast, too. The internal electric car sounds really add to the experience and the Go-kart mode makes it feel very sporty.

I like the update and new tech but I’ll keep my little 2005 Mini R53 S. Still fun to drive every day and I can work on it. No one is getting in my backseat just the way I planed it.
Couldn’t disagree with you more. I was a Mini salesman for six years, and the year over year slow transformation of this car is wonderful. If you took the badging off most cars on the road today you wouldn’t know what brand it was . When you see a Mini, you know it’s a mini ! Unfortunately I now live in a country that has a 100% import tax, or I would own one in a heartbeat.
Good looking machine, but I'm a little disappointed they eliminated the sliding sunroof. Pano-roofs are fine, but I hope they have a convertible waiting in the wings.
Convertible model is due this fall, releasing as a 2025 model, but only for the petrol version, and will keep last gen's taillights design with some improvements to match the new ones. Google "Mini F67" to read more about it and see the spy shots of it.
Petrol will have the sunroof. And convertible will be at the end of the year. I’m hoping convertible will look better inside. It’ll retain the rectangular taillights of the previous generation.
I love how they designed this car to its modern roots. I love the simplicity and the materials used. No leather : vegan friendly and the trim levels are great. I ordered on for 2025.

It’s the cooper SE, not the S (that’s a car with a petrol engine in it and looks a lot more like the F56 model what we have right now. Still love this one though
It looks odd seeing a Cooper S without the distinctive bonnet scoop , but it still looks like a Mini , plus it’s miles better than the new Countryman with the weird headlights .
why does this look bigger than my mk4 GTI (2-door)? the GTI's wheelbase was near 100". in this color, the 2024 Cooper looks bigger than past and current GTIs.... 😢
Everything that makes mini a MINI is gone. The tail lights, grill, headlights, the circle themed interior, all gone. Now its just a basic cramped up car.
It past the novelty or the speedy car: wanna my “Bourne” back! Where is the sport ? The engine power ? The rustic design that involves my soul since the 80’s ?

Many years of experience with Mini cars and as a Cooper SE 2023 owner, here's my comments and pros-cons list. I will have to start with negatives because fairly, they ruined the iconic-retro design of their own. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s the British market received numerous "special editions" of the Mini, which shifted the car from a mass-market item into a fashionable icon because of the Retro design understanding. And since the day Mini came out with new Countryman and the new Mini S/SE. Even the 2023 Mini cooper SE has the characteristic tounches everywhere exterior and interior! KEEP READİNG DOWN BELOW. !!! My objective thoughts and pros-cons list : Pros: 1- Bigger battery; had to be improved because even cars like peugeot 208e-500e had bigger batteries than the previous generation Mini Cooper SE. 2- The chassis is lengthened; A longer chassis can provide more spacious interior and increases performance. 3- Growth of mirrors; I think it's counter-design, considering the iconic circular mirrors and iconic design language. However, for someone who is not very tall, larger and rectangular mirrors can be considered functional as they can minimize blind spots. 4- More options on Customization the Mini. Also great to see John Cooper Works exterior body kit so smooth... 5- More horse power means better perfomance! Great to see! CONS; God! I'm furious and dissapointed the are too many of them! (OBJECTIVELY) 1- The black plastic artch trim has gone? Seriously? Those places especially if you live in cities will get tremendous amounts of small damages from other car doors and small physical contacts. Also where is the iconic design? 2- The taillights? What the hack you guys were thinking? The physicalş design had never changed since 1990's and you guys not only changed the shape, also ABOLISHED the Union jack Great Britan flag and instead put a triangular cheap material chinese looking lights. 3- İnterior: The new generation automobile industry finds it right to express interior design in the most extreme way possible. But if we look at the cars that have reached the timeless design language. No matter what and what, you will not come across such a disgraceful interior design. The reason? The reason is that everywhere inside is made of a single material and they are trying to look as if it is a brand like Tesla. No my friend, this huge screen does not reflect the 1959 Central Speedo screen. There may be people who like it, but if everything is being completely electronic on a single screen, including the air conditioning controls, the car will be more anti-userfriendly and you will understand how useless it is after using it for a week. Also I don't think anyone has to like this stupidly designed "futuristic" steering wheel. 4- Interior buttons used to make you feel like you're in a spaceship or an airplane. This swisting and one-screen-everything buttons are definitely less charismatic than previous Mini's. More cheap material plastics being used and carpets everywhere making it like its only one piece carpet. Love to see and feels of the better quality materials on my Cooper SE! I love them. I would be happier if I was able to see Mini brand not being gay and try to shine, wanting to be more popular, not following the stupid path started by other brands... if if if if.... Mini used to be Mini but not anymore it looks like. It doesn't feel like it. You also learn from your mistakes. No simplicity = No good.
I prefer the door panels of the petrol. Less fabric. The cup holders I don’t know which would be better. They are under the center stack and then the exclusive package has the added little storage box. The electric reminds me of the old countryman’s. The petrol looks to have a sturdier arm rest though. Built in VS. Electric having a flimsy one attached to the drivers seat and it wiggles 👀 (cheap). I’m hoping the convertible will have better options as I don’t know how the fabric will look in sunlight.

If you have to put amazing x 10 paint in your new car model it’s tells a lot about the design or the lack of it to be precise. Could have been an amazing car, maybe they eventually hit the nail. The car is not soorty enough to be a S and the rear (minisuki)
