Great video thank you. I've just bought a 1 year old car off a dealership, do I need to be on the cars v5c document first before I put the registration on? As I've seen other people pick up cars with there private registrations on ready to be picked up.
Hi 🙋♂️ very interesting 🤨 video like educational. I have done ✅ mine about two years ago and also I have another two number plates with V750 certificate. Thanks 🙏
Help!!! I'm stuck. I am a nominee, my parents purchased a number plate online. I am on the DVLA website trying to work out which postcode the DVLA referring to, to transfer the number plate online. The rest of the details are straightforward. After inputting the long reference number from the retention certificate it ask you for the post code, is this my home post code or the original business purchaser postcode? Thankyou.
You can use form V317 and send this to Swansea or use the DVLA online service to "Take a registration number off a vehicle" and then "Put a registration number on a vehicle".
How many days grace do you get after clicking the button in order to the new plates fitted ? thinks it’s 3 days - but maybe it’s less or more . there may be a day or two where someone has transfered the plate and submitted it online but still drives the vehicle on the now old plate - until they get new plates fitted . Basically - are you breaking any laws if drive the vehicle on the now old plates for a few days after submitting the application Is there a grace period ?
When I put the new private reg on my car do I still own the original reg for the car or do I have to pay to retain it so that when I get a new car I can put the original plates back on and put my private reg on my new car ?
The original reg for your car goes on hold automatically and still belongs to your car - when you take your private plate off your car will get its original plate re-issued to it so keep the plates !
Hello, great video..i have a few questions I hope you can help me with ? 1. Will I have contact the dvla regarding the current tax on my vehicle tied to the old registration number? 2. Where does the new keeper get the cars number plate from ? Thank you

Great vid mate. What’s the procedure when you want to swap the plates back when selling the car? And also do you get a new log book everytime you change?

Hi - normally the dealers sort this out for you in advance - its probably better to get the V5 in you name before swapping plates.
What happens to the reg originally assigned to the vehicle? As you may decide to sell the reg you just bought on at some point.
It remains in limbo but is reserved for your car... so when you sell your car your will get this back - so keep the original physical plates
So when I tell dvla of my new plate the send me a logbook with it on so do I keep my old logbook as well for when I sell the car
