H20 was a movie my Mom and I bonded over. She knew I had watched the original on TV late one night and she wanted to watch 1 & 2 back to back. She told me she saw the original in theaters and we saw H20 opening night. We were high fiving each other and fist pumping the air, one of my favorite memories as a kid. Thanks for this series!
I saw H20 in a theater opening night and when Laurie swings that axe and ends it the entire audience was silent for a good solid five seconds and then when the credits rolled everyone started cheering. It was one of the most satisfying endings to any slasher horror movie ever.
100% same experience. You could hear a pin drop. The screen went black and people lost their shit. One of my favorite theatrical experiences was seeing that movie.
I still get chills from that scene. What makes it more iconic (in my opinion) is that after an entire movie of an orchestra "Scream-themed" score, they drop the original John Carpenter Halloween theme right when it happens. It's just amazing.
@@616Entertainment I loved seeing Jamie Lee Curtis share a scene with her mom..and the fact she drove the car from Psycho and if you listen carefully the Psycho music is played low in the back ground as she walks to the car. I was diappointed by the fact they ignored Jamie's Daughter from part 4 and gave the character a son instead. that was stupid.

Star Wars new trilogy movies did badly I am gonna talk about this because they were rushed not checked out or even questioned at all by the company big wigs in the Disney corp. now even though Force Awakens did poorly I like Daisy Ridley and think she is a good actor pleasent to work with fellow actors love her as well. Busta Rhymes is really good in this I give him credit for being a real bad ass I'm sure the Riddler would get satisfaction at seeing the weak stupid and useless being killed off in this.
And my other favorite thing of H2O is that after all the stress that Michael is put Lori through she had finally had enough decided not to be a victim and took the fight to Michael and ultimately killed him
Busta Rhyme's involvement in Halloween: Resurrection is the 2nd worst thing that ever came out of the franchise. Only the cult trying to control Michael in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers aswell as letting Rob Zombie anywhere near this franchise.
I started watching your series on Halloween literally 3 hours ago. Just finished part 3 and was listening intently for the release date of part 4 and hot damn if you didn't say September 17th. I glanced at my phone so quick to confirm that today was the 17th that I got whiplash.

I must say, I loved Halloween 5. I loved Tina, loved the ending and was captivated by Michael in a cell and Jamie's final scene. I was hooked for part 6. Then again I'm a die hard fan, Halloween can do no wrong in my eyes.
Finally. School started on the 8th (yes... I'm a 40 year old man going to college), so I haven't had time... I didn't even see this notification until now. Been waiting. They should've ended the series with H20. Literally the PERFECT ending scene to finish the franchise. Good stuff as always, Ian!

Another awesome retrospective, as a child I was frightened of horror movies but when I saw halloween h20 with my mother mind it was when Laurie/Keri decided to stand up to the shape, I swear to you the moment she shouted "Michael", a lifelong horror movie fan was born.
My head canon is that 1-8 are canon (in 3 when it shows Michael it’s a documentary about him) , then at the end of resurrection he is incarcerated once again, they make 2 movies about him(rob zombies Halloween 1 & 2), which then he escapes once again in 2018 coming after his sister 40 years after the first time(in between Halloween 2 and 4 she fakes her death explaining the reason she is alive in h20 and survives her death in resurrection to be alive in the new trilogy, the nurse from the first two survived as well), and Laurie after 20 years away from haddenfield she moves back and has her 3rd kid(that all 3 are still alive just not anywhere near each other and not knowing the other exists)

What if H4-H6 never actually happened and was just a nightmare that Laurie Strode had sometime between H2 and H20? Meanwhile in H2018, that version of Laurie had a nightmare about H2, H20, and HR; while Michael Myers had a sweet dream about the Rob Zombie incarnations. As for H3, that took place in the real world (a la Wes Craven's New Nightmare). The movie "Children of Men" is actually a sequel to H3, since we know that millions of kids were killed on Halloween night, 1982. What I mean is that 45 years have passed since the massacre from H3 and no more children where born after the curse that unfolded on the night of October 31, 1982 and how a man failed to foil the plans of an evil man named Conal Cochran.
I absolutely loved the acknowledgment of that nod Halloween Resurrection gave to Decker by naming a character after him … sort of tipping their cinematic hat to the great Jack Decker.
I’m actually excited for the sequel reboot “40 years later” story line that you may cover after Halloween Kills. I just cannot accept Rob Zombies remake series. I know Revenge is awful but Rob Zombies H1 & H2 are the biggest slaps in the face us hardcore fans have ever received and I’m thankful we’re back to the original series in a sense.
October 14th is when we wrap it up, but October 1 you'll get 'Ranking Michael's Masks - A Halloween Special.' The timelines video will come probably closer to actual Halloween.
I always felt they could’ve easily pulled off H20 without pretending the others didn’t happen . If for nothing else, out of respect for Pleasence. Quick mention of a witness relocation program, giving up a daughter she couldn’t afford to raise. Just ignoring thorn. Boom, you’re done.
For years as a kid I always just assumed this was the case and that Laurie was just unaware of the events of 4 5 and 6. The problem with it I guess is that it makes Laurie seem pretty cavalier towards Jamie and a bad Mom.

But I really knew that wasn’t what they intended, and always just wondered if it really would’ve killed them to just put in a throw away line or two that kept them part of the story, for those of us who loved them all.

I honestly hate H5 the most with H6 being a close second on account of where they took the so called Jamie Lloyd trilogy. Resurrection is a monstrosity though,no question.

As an adult in my 40's I despise cynically marketing to black audiences....but I must admit, as a young dude I love Busta and seeing him kick ass still makes me laugh to this day. And knowing that a black dude, especially a rapper, went toe to toe with MM and made him do the job with the history black characters have in horror movies still fills me with nostalgic pride lol.
Here's my story. I leave in Russia, so in 90s we had all the tapes being pirated. But I never saw Halloween on a tape. I knew about Hellraiser, Creeters, Nighmare on the Elm Street, Fly, It, Predator, but haven't seen Halloween. Maybe it was on the tapes, but I just didn't notice it. I intoduced myself to these series through TV. It was shown there and I felt in love. I was maybe 13 or 14, so it was around 2000-2001. I only saw the first movie. And someday somebody gave me a tape, where part 2 and 3 where recorded from TV. Actually, I'm not exactly sure, when I saw part 2. But at the same time they put H20 on the TV. And I had a blast. Maybe my watching order was: H1, H20, H2, H3. I just remember that I couldn't watch H2 on the TV for a long time, they never showed it, and I guess I saw it on a tape. Or maybe they finally put it on a TV and I recorded it, because it could be ages till they show it again. Anyway, other parts I watched in the movies. And I've never ever watched H4, H5, H6. And I don't want to. Maybe someday I'll watch H6 because of Paul Rudd. But I just don't dig the masks and I've watch Cinemassacre's and Your's reviews, so that's enough for me. Just found the channel. Love this videos. I remember watching this in the theater with friends. Even though the movie sucked and I was disappointed, we had a fun time watching this trainwreck. This was our second time watching Halloween on the big screen . For my buddies and me, H 7 was our first experience seeing Michael Myers on the big screen. I remember feeling like I had fun, and felt satisfied because of the ending of H7. Watching the opening of H8 in a theater, my heart was crushed by the retcon of Michael not being be-headed, combined with the death of Laurie. Love the videos. Subscribing now.
Dude I literally have read books on the series. I do online research, I listen to all the director's and actor's commentaries, I read interviews, I watch the movies, I do all of this and take notes while doing it. It's an insane amount of work, lol
@@616Entertainment that's awesome brother. I grew up watching h5 over and over again when I was like 6 years old.. pretty stupid yea and h5 does suck. My favorite installment is the curse of Michael Myers. One thing about H6 is that Dr. Wynn is a fertility doctor so I don't think Micheal boned his niece.
I've learned far more from these first for parts of this historic overview than I have from reviews on these films. And I'm left with two things. 1. Anxiety as an aspiring film maker. 2. Admiration for the patience and dedication of the Halloween fans, because holy crap have y'all been put through the grinder with this. I mean dude from one wrestling fan to another, I don't think WWE has put us through crap as bad as the Halloween franchise has put you through. I could be wrong as I didn't watch WWE from 2001-2010... So I missed a lot.
You missed some of the better stuff they've done in the last two decades, sadly. I find their current product (and the last 5-6 years) to be the worst it has ever been.
@@travzimmerman1340 Well….I mean…it was a slasher flick made in the 90’s. There was no reinventing the wheel here. It’s not like this franchise had been the most original thing going up to this point. I liked this one. I have a soft spot for Josh Hartnett and I think making Laurie a neurotic with her son on Halloween/ an alcoholic is pretty realistic after all that happened to her. It was a good way to end Michael too (well if he had stopped making money that is).
Can’t wait to discuss the Rob Zombie films next time around. We’ve spoke about it before, I know you’re not a fan, but to me they’ve always had a soft spot in my heart and a lot of nostalgia for me. If I am gonna rank quality, I’m not gonna be completely bias 2009 H2 isn’t great, but Curse, H20, or Resurrection I’ve never been a fan because I thought the Michael performances and masks weren’t great and in my personal opinion I think Tyler Mane brought a new piss your pants terrifying life to Myers that had been gone for me since Halloween 5. Another amazing deep dive, the work and effort you put in to these is absolutely incredible!

My head canon is that 1-8 are canon (in 3 when it shows Michael it’s a documentary about him) , then at the end of resurrection he is incarcerated once again, they make 2 movies about him(rob zombies Halloween 1 & 2), which then he escapes once again in 2018 coming after his sister 40 years after the first time(in between Halloween 2 and 4 she fakes her death explaining the reason she is alive in h20 and survives her death in resurrection to be alive in the new trilogy, the nurse from the first two survived as well), and Laurie after 20 years away from haddenfield she moves back and has her 3rd kid(that all 3 are still alive just not anywhere near each other and not knowing the other exists)
In my head cannon it’s just H1-H2. Then 4 is a stand-alone film that is followed years later by the new 2018 timeline.

What if H4-H6 never actually happened and was just a nightmare that Laurie Strode had sometime between H2 and H20?
Meanwhile in H2018, that version of Laurie had a nightmare about H2, H20, and HR; while Michael Myers had a sweet dream about the Rob Zombie incarnations.
As for H3, that took place in the real world (a la Wes Craven's New Nightmare). The movie "Children of Men" is actually a sequel to H3, since we know that millions of kids were killed on Halloween night, 1982. What I mean is that 45 years have passed since the massacre from H3 and no more children where born after the curse that unfolded on the night of October 31, 1982 and how a man failed to foil the plans of an evil man named Conal Cochran.
I love this. Make it make sense for you and just have fun, that's what it's all about.
My head cannon is that only the first movie exists..because it's the only good one. I'll watch part 3 as well but it's obviously a different universe.
I absolutely loved the acknowledgment of that nod Halloween Resurrection gave to Decker by naming a character after him … sort of tipping their cinematic hat to the great Jack Decker.

I’m actually excited for the sequel reboot “40 years later” story line that you may cover after Halloween Kills. I just cannot accept Rob Zombies remake series. I know Revenge is awful but Rob Zombies H1 & H2 are the biggest slaps in the face us hardcore fans have ever received and I’m thankful we’re back to the original series in a sense.
I'll be covering Zombie's movies next time out. It's going to be a hell of a ride.

I always felt they could’ve easily pulled off H20 without pretending the others didn’t happen . If for nothing else, out of respect for Pleasence. Quick mention of a witness relocation program, giving up a daughter she couldn’t afford to raise. Just ignoring thorn. Boom, you’re done.
For years as a kid I always just assumed this was the case and that Laurie was just unaware of the events of 4 5 and 6. The problem with it I guess is that it makes Laurie seem pretty cavalier towards Jamie and a bad Mom.
@@brettpritchard265 Indeed! I kinda tried to view it that way too, because I’m a huge fan of all the other previous movies. But I really knew that wasn’t what they intended, and always just wondered if it really would’ve killed them to just put in a throw away line or two that kept them part of the story, for those of us who loved them all.

Great video as always. And I agree 100% about Resurrection. Terrible movie but falls right into the “it’s so bad it’s good camp.” 12 year old me enjoyed it back in 2002 and still find ways to enjoy it despite it being trash today.
Speaking as a Halloween fan who is been a fan of this franchise from the beginning I liked h20 But come on seriously Halloween resurrection was literally the worst movie of the entire franchise I mean Michael Myers is a stone cold killer you really expect anyone to believe that he would be out fighting by Busta Rhymes really and turning Halloween into reality TV show what was the studio thinking that was the biggest mistake ever and killing off Laurie strode in Halloween resurrection was a big mistake

Yeah I consider H20 to be my most favorite film in the franchise, and Halloween: Resurrection to be one of my most hated films in the franchise.
I honestly hate H5 the most with H6 being a close second on account of where they took the so called Jamie Lloyd trilogy.
Resurrection is a monstrosity though,no question.
Binge watching the Halloween series you made definitely enjoy it.

As an adult in my 40's I despise cynically marketing to black audiences....but I must admit, as a young dude I love Busta and seeing him kick ass still makes me laugh to this day.
And knowing that a black dude, especially a rapper, went toe to toe with MM and made him do the job with the history black characters have in horror movies still fills me with nostalgic pride lol.
Here's my story. I leave in Russia, so in 90s we had all the tapes being pirated. But I never saw Halloween on a tape. I knew about Hellraiser, Creeters, Nighmare on the Elm Street, Fly, It, Predator, but haven't seen Halloween. Maybe it was on the tapes, but I just didn't notice it. I intoduced myself to these series through TV. It was shown there and I felt in love. I was maybe 13 or 14, so it was around 2000-2001. I only saw the first movie. And someday somebody gave me a tape, where part 2 and 3 where recorded from TV. Actually, I'm not exactly sure, when I saw part 2. But at the same time they put H20 on the TV. And I had a blast. Maybe my watching order was: H1, H20, H2, H3. I just remember that I couldn't watch H2 on the TV for a long time, they never showed it, and I guess I saw it on a tape. Or maybe they finally put it on a TV and I recorded it, because it could be ages till they show it again. Anyway, other parts I watched in the movies. And I've never ever watched H4, H5, H6. And I don't want to. Maybe someday I'll watch H6 because of Paul Rudd. But I just don't dig the masks and I've watch Cinemassacre's and Your's reviews, so that's enough for me. Just found the channel. Love this videos. I remember watching this in the theater with friends. Even though the movie sucked and I was disappointed, we had a fun time watching this trainwreck. This was our second time watching Halloween on the big screen . For my buddies and me, H 7 was our first experience seeing Michael Myers on the big screen. I remember feeling like I had fun, and felt satisfied because of the ending of H7. Watching the opening of H8 in a theater, my heart was crushed by the retcon of Michael not being be-headed, combined with the death of Laurie.

Dude I literally have read books on the series. I do online research, I listen to all the director's and actor's commentaries, I read interviews, I watch the movies, I do all of this and take notes while doing it. It's an insane amount of work, lol

My favorite installment is the curse of Michael Myers. One thing about H6 is that Dr. Wynn is a fertility doctor so I don't think Micheal boned his niece.

I've learned far more from these first for parts of this historic overview than I have from reviews on these films. And I'm left with two things.
1. Anxiety as an aspiring film maker.
2. Admiration for the patience and dedication of the Halloween fans, because holy crap have y'all been put through the grinder with this.
I mean dude from one wrestling fan to another, I don't think WWE has put us through crap as bad as the Halloween franchise has put you through. I could be wrong as I didn't watch WWE from 2001-2010... So I missed a lot.
You missed some of the better stuff they've done in the last two decades, sadly. I find their current product (and the last 5-6 years) to be the worst it has ever been.

I liked this one. I have a soft spot for Josh Hartnett and I think making Laurie a neurotic with her son on Halloween/ an alcoholic is pretty realistic after all that happened to her. It was a good way to end Michael too (well if he had stopped making money that is).

Can’t wait to discuss the Rob Zombie films next time around. We’ve spoke about it before, I know you’re not a fan, but to me they’ve always had a soft spot in my heart and a lot of nostalgia for me. If I am gonna rank quality, I’m not gonna be completely bias 2009 H2 isn’t great, but Curse, H20, or Resurrection I’ve never been a fan because I thought the Michael performances and masks weren’t great and in my personal opinion I think Tyler Mane brought a new piss your pants terrifying life to Myers that had been gone for me since Halloween 5. Another amazing deep dive, the work and effort you put in to these is absolutely incredible!
