After seeing the ad for this on TV I was tempted to buy it, and then I remembered TH-cam and checked to see if anyone reviewed it. Am so glad I did. This saved me time and money. Boy, are we consumers lucky to have a place to go for reviews of products that don't work. I have been in search of the ultimate space heater and as yet haven't found one that completely does the job. My quest continues.

Thank you for reviewing this. My mom saw this on an ad on a recipe site and asked me about it. The add itself linked to a scam site with the heater under a different name but then I eventually found it by its real name at the local store. Thank you for the review. It helps to know if it will work before buying. You saved us time!

Great that your review addressed a number of questions, - that it 'supplements' the regular heating system and doesn't replace it. The add says "Efficient Output : Runs for just pennies a day," if it's 100 pennies a day, that's $32 added to your electric bill per month - if it's 300 pennies a day that adds $90 to your monthly electric bill and double all that since it's a "Double Offer" and you may be running two devices in two different rooms. Oil is expensive these days and I was looking for an alternative (even a supplement) but not a unit that burns out in 6 months or that is shoddy and typically has no-integrity in its design or its instructions or even adequate to do the job it's billed as doing. Seems more like snake oil for the unsuspecting. And you gotta really love those "It's FREE - just pay a SEPARATE FEE" deals too - so $29.99 turns into over $50 and with a whopping '60 day money back guarantee' - are they telling us it works for all of two months at least? And it sounds like at the most it won't work for much over three, four or (as we see below) not more than six months. This buyer beware. Too bad it didn't have a better track record and a reputable name (like Ford or Toyota) to ensure any measure of lasting dependable quality.

*_I'm in my third season of using 3 of these Strategically placed in my mobile home that keeps us warm and comfortable without having to turn on the home's electrical heating system. Here in upstate SC, our electricity is Perhaps the most expensive in the country at over 400 a month to heat a small 2-bedroom mobile home. But using three of these in combination with a ventless propane wall heater I'm spending just under 100 a month. I will add that the three Handy Heaters I'm using this year seem to have lost a little capacity and I'm using the propane heater a little more but even so my bills are still under 100 a month using both in combination with each other._*

I have the first version of this heater and haven't used it much but I have it on now. I have that plug extender product too and I have it on a trim board that's part of my room. seems to be working. The room i'm in now once used to be two rooms so I doubt that this little heater will heat it up. My 1500 watt oil filled heater struggles with heating this room up.

Now mind you I only ran it set at 70. Not 90. It hit 70 on other side of the room kitchen size 9 by 12 ft. So it lived up to my expectations. Have a good day.

I'm surprised 🙀, the outlet heaters I bought about 4 years ago definitely warmed my room 12x16. The problem is needing to manually turn on & off plus settings. After time that small pressure pushing the settings makes the connection poor then it stops. They need remote controls for sure !

In the Netherlands, we can buy similar generic heaters for E 10-15 (Euro is kinda similar to $). 500-1500 W. This model sells for 70.- Stupidity kills, but this is close to a scam. Similar generic heaters are ca. 600 % cheaper, and often more versatile and powerful. I just bought a E 15.- 750-1500 W model because I have solar panels. During the daylight hours I can add some heat to my desk space on a timer, make it more comfortable. Effective or not, at least it uses up the extra energy generated. Cheap timers allow 3500 W, so safety is no issue.

Only difference is that the Arctic Air is sold duriing the hot months like July and August while Handy Heater is sold during the cold months like January and February. Now would this Handy Heater be able to warm a room that was 40 degrees farenheight?

800 Watts of power, has in limitations. Especially when considering, that the calculation used when calculating the heat requirements of a living floor area is 64 watts per m2. This little heater will have it's work cut-out, trying to heat a room with a living floor area of 12 - m2. (Twelve square meters) or ca. 10 by 10 foot. Also the room's insulation quality has an impact on the heating ability of a heating unit. Done buy a pint in a half pint pot!!

Stopped putting out heat, after 6 months, worked great all winter for heating my small bathroom. As far as the distance from the heater, even after running for a long time the sides and back were still cool, heat only came out the front. Now it still blows air, everything still lights up, even the front where the heat comes out ,lights up red, but no heat comes out. I loved this heater, but really disappointed, now that it stopped working.

Banged it on the counter a couple time and it started to heat again, but then back to cold air. Now I am back to my oil filled heater with the long cord.

    • @normt430

Sounds like it is working properly. Just running the hot water in shower will heat a room so the heater shut off so it reached temperature. Either that or the humidity tricked the temperature sensor and caused it to shut off.

It has been tested to cycle on to around 300w. Only fan consumption when heating element is not being heated.

Am not the complaining type. But I had a bad experience with this product. I bought 2 with a discount and it came from a Chinese company Equiwarm. Great promises but it takes a hour to get my room temperate up with on degree. It promised to do that in around 10 minutes. I wanted to my money back but they said you have to pay all the transport costs to China yourself. Whilst they also advertised that it wasn't any problem to get your money back if it wasn't functioning as promised. Please don't buy this....

Those are garbage heaters. A hairdryer would heat a room better than that piece of junk

Sure, it'll heat up the "room" if you live in a 1x1x1 box. Lol. Don't waste your money on this junk.

The ad really made it seem like the whole room would be engulfed in heat within minutes. Very deceptive advertising -- obviously.@@Jeffreviews4u
