As an ex Dell warranty engineer, we used to have a bootable dos CD with the flash tool on it. Latitude and Inspiron boards were the same but we just flashed the replacement board with the correct BIOS and then use the service tag util to re-input the service tag.

Please check you original bin file with the one they fixed and find out what changed. You only need a hex editor program to compare files.
Great video Sorin. Your skill and experience saved an expensive laptop from oblivion. I don't know how much you would charge for this, but it was worth it!
It's just like I told you on the last live session chat... Those BIOS faults are not new, they've been there for many years before... and quite frequent on all Dell laptops, not only XPS and Precision, but also Inspiron and Vostro alike. Seen so many cases before, even under warranty, and strangely enough, Dell service usually chooses to replace the motherboards entirely when this happens (if it's a warranty case) or deem a no-fix outside of warranty... Crazy, I know, but that's the situation unfortunately...
The key point here is they deliberately made reprogramming the BIOS/UEFI so complicated, so ppl will somehow be forced to take their official advice and buy another new mobo instead. Pretty much the same Apple does, knowing it's an expensive device, so ppl will not abandon them easily...
There used to be a Dell program that was available to write the ST - it was command driven - I had to do this in my last job - will check around again to see if this is still available - nice video and thx for sharing again - Kudos!

Older BIOSes (non UEFI) could also become corrupted but I think now they are getting so big and complicated, there are simply more points of possible failure. Look for a chip in a SOP-8 or SOIC-8 package (they are most commonly used). See if it is powered by the coin battery (if there is one). Look at the brand name (Winbond is very common). Look at the part number on the chip. It will usually begin with "25" and have the size as part of the number, e.g., 16 or 32. The BIOS binary file that you are going to use should be the same size as the chip. If it's not, then that is probably not the BIOS chip. Although, some BIOS software is spread across two chips. Also, check out Adamant IT on TH-cam (search "adamant it bios") for man examples of BIOS re-programming.
Can somebody explain to me why the bios can not be reprogrammed while soldered to the motherboard? I heard somewhere that those usb programmers don't supply enough current on the 3.3V/1.8V line if that's the case couldn't one just jerry rig an external current supply to the programmers pin and save oneself the trouble of constantly having to de and re solder bios chips?
I did on my Asus K56CB laptop. Motherboard marked as K56CM rev. 2.0 . I used a "normal" CH341A programmer - bought fm AlliExpress 6USD ... , with that "clip" as Sorin. Only that I flashed a "wrong" BIOS ( I just searched/downloaded whatever .bin files I could find freely, not like Sorin - with "pro" / payable Discord assistance) Now I "have" an Asus S550CM laptop, according to "my' BIOS 😀- NOT working my dedicated Nvidia GT740M / 2Gb VRAM video card and Numeral pad on the keyboard ( those separate keys with numbers ) . Think I was lucky though , at least I am having something back from dead. Wrote this comment using this laptop.
@@celdepescaun39 lol that's quite an awesome story. Surprised it works at all with the wrong bios. No idea where you got that bin file from but you could try the badcaps forum I found the bios for my old laptop there and the bin file was good.
Bro, my laptop is AMD, it has Radeon Vega 8 1gb graphics, I want to update the graphics, then do I have to buy a separate laptop graphics card, can I update only the graphics card?
It depends. The graphics "card" in a laptop is usually not an actual circuit board, but rather the circuitry of the card placed right on the motherboard. That is not upgradable. If, like this Dell laptop, the graphics is on a separate board, then it might be upgradable if the manufacturer offers one (and drivers for it).
great video and perfect explanation, i just subscribe to your channel dude can you pass me a bin from a 7560 dell precision I try to extract from dell exe but don't have success
The bios was taken over to the point that it is admin protected on every thid how do i get around that? please do not tell me to do down load it will not alow me to press the enter key to install any thing!
You may have to read the BIOS chip, then find where the password is located in that file and delete the password, or do some other editing of the file to remove the need for a password. Then, write the file back to the chip.

Also, check out Adamant IT on TH-cam (search "adamant it bios") for man examples of BIOS re-programming.
programmator with such device is able to operate bios chip at board, isn't it?
why bios chip was get off from plate for reprogramming?
You can't reliably program the chip while it's in circuit.
@@markanderson2904 thx for answer, but in this way, i can't even to image for what that device's clip exists
I have a dell precision 7560, but it's not have discrete graphic card, how do i upgrade one for my laptop?
You can't.
hi sorin . i want bios file for dell precision 5530 i9-8th . 25q80dvig 8m. do you have ?
Well. Corrupted bios isnt Dell only issue. I had bios issues even with Gigabyte DUAL BIOS motherboards.
@@celdepescaun39You can reprogram the Bios without desoldering the cip?
And if I have the latest bios, what can I do?
I can flash the original bios?

You could have programmed the bios without disassembling the laptop. And the "cooking is only needed when the bios file is encrypted.
how? do you need to use dell usb bios update? or use a cable of those reprogrammer tools?
BlInitializeLibrary failed Oxc0000185 how to fix this error
SVOD 4 programmer can modify bios
Try another time to save a bios.bin from chip, erase IC and restore same .bin file. Mani time for me working.
"these" days, not "those" days
That's either here or there.😄
Pleas what is the programer name?
ch341a
@@ohmware2020 What is batter one RT809f or this ?
CH341A,, better is SVOD or RT809H
I think sorin mentiont that he needs to buy a faster one tho, so probably do some research on what to get instead of this one
Ye naye walehe
great video and perfect explanation, i just subscribe to your channel
dude can you pass me a bin from a 7560 dell precision I try to extract from dell exe but don't have success
Then, write the file back to the chip.
just a bootable usb with bios from dell's site, simple and easy, not this bs
