Have to agree with this. He scared me for a while when he did that Top Gear rubbish but seems to be back on the straight and narrow now. He has a Jack Dee type persona/humour and it suits his reviews perfectly. It "seemed" he was trying to be someone that he is not with Flintoff and McGuinness and playing the fool just didn't suit him. Harris has car knowledge, skills and a great delivery. Keep it real Chris.
The appeal of the noble is the classic super car vibe. The car is mostly analogue unlike most super cars which have computers to drive them for you. Nothing is better than a manual, v8 mid engined super car :)
Noble a thing of beauty My daughter was driven round Castle Donington in one Lent to Wishes 4 Kids from Noble themselves and years later she still talks about the experience as though it was yesterday, She loved the kick of power and the fact it lapped almost ever other sports car on the track.
Chris is without doubt my favorite car enthusiast to learn from. Well balanced in everything required of a journalist specializing in motorsports. His P1 vs Laferrari vs 918 episode is one of the greatest pieces of entertainment I've ever seen, and ever will see. Anyone who may be reading this should give that a watch, if you havent already. It will make your day.
Chris Harris, I love you! You put me at Nurburgring, in the seat and made me feel every force and fear. Better than even Stuck does in his classic annotation of the Ring. Thanks, amazing!
_"You will never be able to drive the Atom really fast on the Nurburgring because it's not a racing car"_ - overtakes one 911 Turbo after the other...:)...!
I think the presenter is fantastic, he provides the feedback mostly as a 'racing driver', not like you guys/girls who set up camber, decat your car and lower it so much you cant go over a bump and cant even drift. The aeriel atom cant be used as a racing car.
The Atom drives like a super-bike with 4 wheels than a car. Point and Squirt. Pass lesser cars like they were standing still! No need to take it anywhere close to the limit around corners as you can more than make it up with mind boggling acceleration. On another topic great camera placement and angles.
Chris Harris is in my opinion the best motoring journalist out there, he can drive, he's knowledgeable and entertaining. Whats also good is its not just stupid hyperbole all the time like top gear
Chris Harris is a real enthusiast, has great driving skills knows exactly what he is experiencing and how to put it into words. He is my first go-to guy when I want to know how X car handles or how the gearbox on Y car performs. He also doesn't seem biased (he likes British engineering, but he is British, so all well) and seem to enjoy whatever he is given to drive, which is a plus.
Brilliant video, thank you! The Noble M600 is a bit of a dream car for me, and the Ariel Atom is just insanity! Mr. Harris, your videos inspire me, I hope one day, I may do what you do!
I'd buy an ariel atom V8 if I had the money. I had a half share in a skiff that used to want to kill me. I loved every minute in retrospect. (L4K) Luv and Peace.
Oh boy I just love that Noble m600!!! Eventhough I'm a die hard Porsche Fan but if I had the money I take that Noble.. There's just no modern Sportscar fitting good looks, a brilliant manual gearbox, a rare number only made and a stunning performance into one like this does!!!
Amazing.....the Nordschleife is a dream destination for me and to tackle in this two astronomical machines was superb. Amazing job Drive, amazing job Chris...no GIVE ME YOUR JOB!!!
Beautiful machine. This would eat many of the current run of speed 'freaks' for breakfast. That engine has that same immediate urgency as a bike engine. And of course ariel used 2 over a car engine. Ive been in the original and the acceleration is savage but that ride. Wow. Crisp and pure like fresh snow. I know we dont make mainstream cars like we used to but this is world wide legend now and anyone british who has a fraction of a soul should be really really proud! Made in Great Britain is starting to mean something again.
Chris Harris is my favorite car reviewer. The Grand Tour / 3 old men is also awesome but as a team and I can't place them in the same category as Chris, he just is the best at this, with his British accent... the best.
This is some of the best motoring video I've seen. Chris' reviews and unfettered commentary remind me of Alain de Cadenet and Victory by Design. Cheers.
That is quite a complement and I completely agree with your perception. I very much enjoyed Alain de Cadenet and still have some of his reviews bookmarked in my browser. Chris has his own style but they both are excellent test drivers.
Thanks Chris for a really hairy and exciting ride. It's interesting looking at how both cars handle the track, so much raw power and always just on the ultimate edge where we it looks like the tyres are going to give way. A really neat "seat of the pants" ride!
+David Nesbit Couldn't say it better myself brother. *These two vehicles are some proper proper manstuff.* The Noble M600 has a badass Ford engine in it's sexy British design, and the Atom is racer purism at it's finest. *TRACTION CONTROL IS FOR POOFS*
M600 Engine is Volvo/Yamaha V8. The same one that can be found in S80 Mk II & XC90 MkI V8 models. The main difference being that noble added two turbochargers...
True thumbs up to England for building cars like these that we in over regulated, over litigated and over weight North America can only be envious of ! Well done and keep British engineering alive !
Anyone else realize they were holding their breath when he accelerates around a turn? Can't imagine what it's like to actually drive one. Owning one of these cars is on my bucket list for sure.
2 stroke vs 4 stroke. This video is special to me because it reminds me of when I was 12 and i went from a 5hp 4stroke to a Rotax max 2 stroke the moment was pure bliss!!!! I mean i was supposed to break it in but god damn the power was intoxicating,, and this video brought me back to that point so thank you!!!!!!!
Marlo Cieraad They will still test on the Nordschleife! They are not allowed to drive for best possible times if they don't respect the speed limits. But the I-pool is still testing and everything.
TeamBoehnisch Yes but the new tests arent comparible with the old ones and without the higher speed the true potential of the car cant really be reached
On those side shots, I just couldn't stop looking at those welds on the frame, there are some seriously skilled artisans working at Ariel, that's for sure.
The Noble is such a stunningly beautiful car, no exaggerated features like most modern cars are heading to. Simple, elegant and *manual transmission* . If they ever sell any in Australia, I may consider buying one
Forget about the Corvette I've been asking you for twenty years but never getting. I know you've been having me hold out for something faster. Okay, I'll write you a letter asking for the Atom.
I agree, but it needs more *high speed turns*, like a good 1.5 mile long super shallow turn, I think that would separate the supercars from the GTR's LOL.
Ah, maybe you need to try driving the Bathurst track in New South Wales, Australia before you make that judgement. Yes, I've driven Bathurst, not racing, but not the Ring.
Agreed! I paused the feed after the atom run, and tried to imagine what it felt like doing this instead of "just" watching Mr. Harris lay this down...Well documented, superbly edited; you get excellent views, yet don't have the feeling of getting cut short or cut off...excellent work, and it was a joy to watch.
Under steer will save your ass. I much prefer a gentle push when I'm racing and set my cars up to do so. Whom ever said loose is fast is just wrong. Now mind you, I don't like front tire smoking under steer, just a little on acceleration off the corner. If the front is sliding a tad, the ass is hooked up and driving you forward. If you need to, you can roll off the throttle a bit and tighten things up. Engineers tune cars to under steer, it's far easier to control, what comes naturally, letting off the gas and turning the wheel more in the direction you'd like to go, gets the job done. Catching a loose car with counter steer is much more difficult to do, and if you get the first part right, the next thing you know the car is doing a tank slapper and spins out anyway. I"ve seen it so often on the track, some yoyo who won't back off and get the car pointed in the right direction, tanks slaps all the way down a straight then ultimately wrecks. If he'd just back off the gas and let completely go of the steering wheel, it'd straighten itself out.
im with you ThePaulanthony62. but i must say for four wheels the Atom was impressive and this was exciting to watch to see the Atom go around the track actually was breath taking... Chris Harris great job on all levels...
I owned a Aprilia RS250 two stroke and loved the beast. But being in my mid twenties now I just love the fact that there are cars out there that I can throw bags in, have the missus next to me and don't have to keep my eye on the clouds. Bikes are great fun but I think the gap is shrinking in terms of experience.
"The acceleration, the exposure to the elements, there's just nothing else like it" There is, it costs significantly less it's called a motorcycle lol Still love the aerial atom tho what a amazing piece of engineering.
I REALLY ENJOYED this episode, absolutely epic! PS: I usually watch guys exiting the Nurburgring at the straight line, but in this video is the opposite, why?
I think I enjoy watching Chris Harris more than Top Gear... is that wrong? If it is I don't care, this guy has gasoline running through his veins and it shows!
It's not wrong - Top Gear is a comedy entertainment show for the masses, it's shown in most countries so has to have broad appeal. Nothing wrong with that, but Chris Harris is a serious petrol-head, reviewing hardcore cars, which is only really going to appeal to other petrol heads. I can't really imagine Chris Harris playing conkers with caravans for instance......
Schleberger Agreed, In fact Old Top Gear with Tif Needel is prob the closest you would get to having Chris on Top Gear, Top Gear just isn't serious nor meticulous in handling the subject matter. Maybe Chris might be a better fit for Fifth Gear but Top Gear producers would prob shop for another comedian for their next host.
Jorgun Harrowiitz That's what I'm sayin' brother, I think we've got AT LEAST another two decades worth of Mr. Clarkson (I hope so anyway). *Something tells me he'll be practically be on dialysis before he stops driving supercars :P.*
My bladder is porous just watching this.... that Atom is properly bonkers... wrong spring and damper rates for the track and it is simply breathtaking to watch... and hear... can't imagine what it would be like being in the drivers seat... wow!!!
Would it be faster if the exoskeleton was covered up? Will add a little bit of weight but doesn't have to be thick. Perhaps a thin layer of fibreglass maybe?
In America, we have a thing Called Reliability, Much Different from British Kit Cars. Motorcycle Engines May Sound Great, but We Only Need an Oil Change Compared to a Complete Rebuild🤔
nallen100 Yes Clarkson only used the old Nordschleife circuit. He did not use the new GP circuit. Harris uses the whole lot. And as Harris constantly says the Atom is not set up for the Nordschleife - stiff suspension on a bumpy track equals instant trip to the barriers and then possibly to the hospital. Harris did not want to visit the hospital on this day, nor did he want to be responsible for wrecking someone else's £150,000 Ariel Atom. That's why he was not going as fast as he could have done.
The Atom V8 around the ‘Ring is the best “ you feel you were there” driving video I’ve seen - Well done Chris, and the speed you accelerated past the 911’s etc was awesome. Maybe I’ll swap the DB9 for one when I grow up to lose my sense of self-protection!
+Bastien Chong I like the printed dialog, with the wind buffeting and his yelling through a thick accent inside a helmet it's much easier to understand.
Epic video, one of the best I ever saw, you really pass what's going on trough the video, I was actually nervous during your lap in the M600, crazy stuff thanks for sharing and keep them coming, you never ever disappoint but this was one of the best.
Sharpsdoublerifle I was just thinking the same thing. "Acceleration, exposure to elements." I was like, "Get on a lightly modified Aprilia RSV4 and tell me differently.
Maybe in the old days but the new technology on the bikes as closed the gap between cars and motorcycles in braking and Lean angle. It certainly would be a fun thing to watch .
We must protect Chris Harris at all costs. He’s our only hope against shitty car review shows/media.

This was after he drive the F1 car on an icy day ... so I know what Chris sounds like when it's really 'bonkers'
And Mat Watson

_"You will never be able to drive the Atom really fast on the Nurburgring because it's not a racing car"_ - overtakes one 911 Turbo after the other...:)...!
From the videos I've watched pretty much everything passes the 911 turbos. ;o)
because no one want's to drive in front the rocket that is the Atom
Agree, the presenter is an ass
I think the presenter is fantastic, he provides the feedback mostly as a 'racing driver', not like you guys/girls who set up camber, decat your car and lower it so much you cant go over a bump and cant even drift. The aeriel atom cant be used as a racing car.

There is something about the waste gate noise from the Noble that just tickles me. I love it!

It's so sad that cars will no longer be tested on the nurburgring. It felt like a pretty good representation of the performance.

The M600 has been a favorite of mine since it came out. Got hooked with the M400 and the 600 just took it to that next level.

Forget about the Corvette I've been asking you for twenty years but never getting. I know you've been having me hold out for something faster. Okay, I'll write you a letter asking for the Atom.

Best track in the world!
I agree, but it needs more *high speed turns*, like a good 1.5 mile long super shallow turn, I think that would separate the supercars from the GTR's LOL.

By the way: a 1.5 mile long turn would be super boring..!
The best is Suzuka !
TeamBoehnisch 1.5 miles isn't that long when you're going near 200! lmao
(No I've never driven at the ring.)
Ah, maybe you need to try driving the Bathurst track in New South Wales, Australia before you make that judgement. Yes, I've driven Bathurst, not racing, but not the Ring.
That Nobel waste gate noise is absolutely one of the best car noises in the world.

Thanks!

No, porn is the next best thing when you can't watch this.
This isn't porn?
This is car porn.
Well done Chris takes balls to take those two around that track with that commitment
I love how he spells the german "ch" correctly all the time. :-D
Absolutely awesomeness!! Excellent watch with fantastic narration, much appreciated!!

Chris Harris when he is not on Top Gear - the best motor journalist ever 👍👏
I prefer the Noble :P
that chirp every time he lifts in the Noble......... heavenly
I don't suppose it was tricky editing that ensured that nothing overtook either car.
Harrison Conyers that sounds ridicuolous. As you probably know Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear did a 10 min. lap in a diesel Jaguar saloon car......
118.47 bhp/ton versus about 900 bhp/tonne should make a difference
im not quite sure what path he took but he definitely drove around the nürburgring gp track as well and not only the nordschleife.

nallen100 Yes Clarkson only used the old Nordschleife circuit. He did not use the new GP circuit. Harris uses the whole lot. Anyone just here reminiscing in 2019 before the electric and autonomous take over?
Epic video, one of the best I ever saw, you really pass what's going on trough the video, I was actually nervous during your lap in the M600, crazy stuff thanks for sharing and keep them coming, you never ever disappoint but this was one of the best.
"exposer to the elements there is nothing is like it"....yes there is and its even faster. Its called a BMW S1000RR HP4 or equally the Kawasaki H2R.
Sharpsdoublerifle I was just thinking the same thing. "Acceleration, exposure to elements." I was like, "Get on a lightly modified Aprilia RSV4 and tell me differently.
Oh yeah, that thing rocks...
lol, the HP4 would get gapped by either car on a race track. Go watch some videos of bikes vs. supercars on things with turns.
Maybe in the old days but the new technology on the bikes as closed the gap between cars and motorcycles in braking and Lean angle. It certainly would be a fun thing to watch .
but they'd still lose. end of story.
