  • This time I'll be covering bugs/glitches that you can no longer abuse on the Secret of Mana Remake. I'll go into detail on what the glitches were on the SNES and show you how to reproduce them. Then I'll show you that these glitches can no longer happen. Some of the things will cover small tiny polish fixes and later I'll go into some glitches that can be abused.
Thank you guys for watching! Leave a comment if you feel like there was a bug I should have mentioned. Retro games didn't go through the rigorous testing that games do now so there is a lot of weird and interesting things you could do. Hope you guys enjoy the video!

I've found the most pointless video on TH-cam. I'd have understood if you made a SNES glitches showcase for this game. Calling the original glitches "Fixed" for the remake is completely wrong and misleading. There was never something there to be fixed in the first place. Fixing would mean that the SNES game's source code was used in some form for the remake. This is a completely different game, that's why it is called a reMAKE and not reMASTER. NOTHING of the original was used. I'm amazed that people think that any glitches or exploits would be shared between two completely different engines.

I've found the most pointless comment on TH-cam.
And correct or not, the term fixed fits for my understanding. It's literally the same game, and of course, many people tried the glitchy stuff as soon as it launched.

To get the 9th sword orb on SNES you save with the cat, hold R L start select down for like ten seconds to reset. Then start a new game and it loads you’re saved data on new game which you kill the first boss to get the 9th sword orb

5:40 -- Nope, that's not how you do the "9th Sword Orb" glitch. First, you go to that ice island with Flammie and get Neko to make a Backup Save in a spare slot. Second, you use the L R + Start Select "Soft Reset" trick to reboot the game without using the physical reset button on the console. Third, you start a brand new game file in a Different Slot, and get yourself up to the part where you're supposed to fight the Mantis Ant, then you wait for the kid to say the dialogue "You have a sword don't you? Use it!" and that's when you do the L R + Start Select trick again but you hold it for 5 full seconds and let go of all the buttons. The game will reset. Get to the Load Game Menu, load your previously made Neko Ice Island / Frosty Forest save file and you will start back at the Mantis Ant boss fight, but this time you will be there with all three party members and all your levels and weapons... one strike will defeat the Mantis Ant and you will get the 9th Mana Sword Orb as your reward. Now use the Flammie Drum to get out of Potos Village and then find the nearest Watts to forge the Sword to its final form. However, if you cast Dryad's Mana Magic on the Sword during the final battle with the Mana Beast, it will glitch out and turn your Sword into a Glove Weapon. So do not use the Dryad Mana Magic if you don't want that to happen.

Very good video. I thought I knew a lot about Secret of Mana, but some of these are new to me! It was really neat to see them shown, along with what attempting to do them in the 2018 version.
This video is another case of injustice on TH-cam. It deserves so many more views than this. It's well edited, well presented, and you have a clear and handsome voice. Keep up the good work, man. ^^

I mean... The remake is a COMPLETELY different game with NONE of the old coding. How could you expect ANY of the old glitches to exist?

I have the remake, and thanks to a glitch of the game when traveling in cannon I managed to land inside the village '' Potos '' but now, I can not get out of there or restart the game, open some glitch to help me get out of is there without data loss?

What about the REMEDY bug in the SNES ?? Well timed the remedy makes you invincible to enemy attacks, including Flamie's attacks.

Well when doing the sword trick after you saved at nekos ice cape.save then start a new game make it all the way to the first boss then soft reset and hold it for atleast 5sec then let go open your saved game at nekos ice cape you'll immediately start at the first boss 1hit kill then you get the swords orb ONLY do this once or else sword will start back at 0 orbs. Buy the pure lands end you'll have the Mana sword and crush the fortress dealing max damage...but the hardest part is maxing the sword charge skill enjoy

From what I've read, the glitch still works in the remake. But I didn't verify it.

@@JRPGFanatic No it doesn't work because the glitch requires you use the Neko Island.

I still would have liked this remake would not have only felt like a bug fix and a graphic update only.
I for example always wanted to have a chance to confront the king on the gold island for example after freeing the light spirit. Or the king on the gold island could have been like the Ice Gigas on the winter island who misused the power of Mana. The whole island could have been frozen in gold. That way you also would not have had the ability to already buy the strong equipment in the store there.
So much wasted potential, especially when you look at other remakes you see how a remake should really bring a game from the past to today´s technical possibilities!

    • @Bandrik
      @Bandrik 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I hear what you're saying, and I agree that would have been ideal. But, I wouldn't consider this a remake. I personally view this as a "remaster". It's the same game for the most part, with a shiny 3D polish, similar to how Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a remaster of the classic N64 game with better graphics.
To me, a remake is when the game is fundamentally changed and retooled entirely. The Final Fantasy VII Remake is a TRUE remake, with a totally changed battle system. Trials of Mana is also a TRUE remake of Seiken Densetsu 3.
Semantics aside, I enjoyed Secret of Mana 2018 for what it was: a different coat of paint on my favorite game of All Time. :)

It may have initially existed. A lot was removed from the game, due to cuts to fit it into a cartridge. Up to 70% of the story, much of which became Chrono Trigger

Nah, some of them might have been kinda new-ish at the time, but it's Squaresoft we're talking about... in 1993 right when they were just about to hit their golden-period.
The main issues with Secret of Mana on the SNES were due to the fact that it was *originally* being made for the [then-planned] Nintendo x Sony SNES-CD Peripheral (which, obviously, got canceled [by Nintendo] and that's why Sony went ahead & made their own Competing Game-System The Playstation), and so it was originally a Much bigger game but they had to cut-back on it significantly (I think I remember one of the Devs saying they had to cut something like 30 or 40% of it down)... and, of course, they then had to Rush to convert it all into content & a game that was actually capable of fitting on a SNES Cartridge.
