I was simply just making a suggestion for him so if he didn’t want to spend the time to build a full exhaust there was ones readily available

I am a professional welder and have been for 12 years but I’m not at all saying anything poorly against Taylor or anything he does I wasn’t even saying anything bad in his exhaust. I literally was just suggesting that there was pre made 4” exhaust that can be bought for duramaxs so that if he didn’t want to spend the time fabricating a smaller exhaust he could simply purchase a full exhaust. I commended his ability to fabricate all he does.

Recirculate that wastegate. It’s already right there. Doing twins on my ls and they gates will be recirculated, largely in part to what you’re experiencing right now
I refuse to call the pie cuts silly and extra and kind of off! That’s character man, especially when you know each weld adds to your overall experience and the nice rugged look on the setup! Awesome series.

I love pie cuts. I just finished the custom turbo system on my 04 Silverado ss. zero mandrel ends. ALL pie cuts. excellent for compound/multidirectional bends etc. I love them. I can weld pretty good so it looks great too.
I actually love the pie cuts. Make it’s like more homemade custom for me. For the mx guys we dreamed of having a factory pipe that was full of pie cuts for our 2 smokers.

Get all the cold side powder coated wrinkle black to hide the aluminum pie cut welds and help them blend in and just look better. Black the compressor housing as well and put the black valve covers on so it looks clean and kinda OEM.
Man Taylor, if I counted the amount of pie cuts correct at 15 or so, at 4 inch diameter, you made just shy of 16 feet in welds on that dump tube! Really well done in my humble opinion! Great content!
If you purge your stainless it will give you a better weld. You can buy rubber bungs that tighten in by wold for each end for basically nothing and will make a big difference on your welds 👌
Coming out so sick dude u definitely should do some heat management wit some heat wrap heat reflective tape and a turbo blanket or have them ceramic coated wit the manifolds cuz that area is gonna be extremely hot with the manifold the turbo the waste gate down pipe and dump tube all being right there ND the turbo is close to the coil that's closest to the front of the motor it's gonna get some things pretty crispy
Great job bud, only possible problem I’m seeing is that brake line is going to get cooked and reduce the life of that fluid by a lot so some insulation or heat wrap could easily fix the issue and solve some of the engine rock concerns.
All around great job in the race to all and Taylor it did suck what happen but that a non professional race for you something for fun can’t expect too much
Hey Taylor! Just a quick heads up, you might want to invest in a fresh air hood or some sort of vent if you plan to keep welding stainless. Stainless off gasses hexavalent chromium and will not only make you really sick but can give you something similar to Parkinson’s. We all care about your health so take care of yourself!
I think I've welded up about 1000 pie cuts Alu, Ti and SS .. I love pie cuts and the best looking material is Ti, but they all have their own beauty. AA clean weld on Alu is the key, weld the alu on a vibration table.. it will help.
@@kurlyfry7916 when i learned to weld , it was from an old aircraft frame welder, he had a table he did as much of his work as possible on. He had a 1/8 motor mounted to the bottom of the table that has a small weight taped to the spindle , when turned it on the imbalance created a vibration in the table that let the weld pool ease into its self, some of the smoothest and most solid welds ive sever seen, i made one for myself and profit. I had seen them before online, but forget where.
If you extend the bank cross over into a Y pipe and put a waste gate at the end it will help with boost creep. The exhaust will head to the Y in preference to the Turbo from both banks.
Its frustrating to build a awesome looking system, and people will never see it under the bonnet, and congratulations on freaking brilliant drive with Kevin 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘🦘

Maybe you should route the wastegate dump into the downpipe, the scavenging you’d get from the rest of the exhaust flow might help with boost creep.

Merge the wastegate dump into the downpipe! Little more difficult to put in and out, since you have two V-bands, but worth the effort!

Don’t forget you can buy a 4” stainless exhaust from a duramax and piece all of it together to complete a 4” exhaust.
thats 409 stainless which will rust and isnt anywhere near the quality of 304 stainless

Hey Taylor you should route the waste gate pipe into your exhaust so it’s sucks it out when the waste gate is wide open and it’ll be more sleepery

You could add a wastegate to the crossover tube if you have creep issues. You won't need to re-do all the work to the existing gate setup that way.
You can take your hood spring bolts out and lift the hood higher and put the bolts back in if your working under hood
