    You could cut the end of the exhaust back a little bit and give it a slight angle cut so that it looks like the factory exhaust for more of a sleeper look

    • @Mossywoods83
      @Mossywoods83 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      For a single exit I agree that would be most ideal, imo

    • @danielgarrett1155
      @danielgarrett1155 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have liked to have seen him keep it tucked up higher with a turndown just before the bumper. Mostly hidden. But yeah, that will work too

    • @supersport1986
      @supersport1986 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danielgarrett1155I like what he did bringing it out over the axel and out to the back. Personally I would have had it tucked it up as high as possible then drop it down right at the end with like a 30*-45* turn down with the end trimmed to match the bed side angle but let it hang below the side about an inch or so just to keep that sleek look. I am so jealous of the sleeper build I love this truck! I have an 05 2500hd 2wd crew short bed with the 6.0l which I should build like this!!

    The new exhaust is so much better! I love street style pickups, so I am very excited for this build! Taylor, get some stainless rod and bend your own hangers. Instead of the bumps on the end like a factory hanger, drill a hole through the rod and secure it to the hanger with a push clip, like a hood pin.

  • @gotthumbs2235
    @gotthumbs2235 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Taylor, The LS Truck is sounding nice and mellow.
    While I didn't fabricate it, I did install a 4 inch MBRP Turbo back exhaust on my Gen 3 Cummins 3500 two weeks ago.
    Really love the tone it has with the open diesel muffler and the Turbo noticeably spools up faster now.

  • @blatantpotato1367
    @blatantpotato1367 ปีที่แล้ว

    Welding Engineering student here: The reason tacks will take the v-band off is because EVERY weld will shrink about 10% at the weld, with the metal cooling. Clamping can help but especially with stainless, it has such a low heat dissipation rate and high distortion rate that this effect is very much amplified. If you ever are doing a T joint at 90 degrees, try to either tack the opposing side first or simply make it roughly 8 degrees off (10% of 90). Another thing about stainless specifically is that REALLY quick high amperage is the way to go, high travel speed and high amperage will mean that the overall heat input is lower than a lower amperage and much lower travel speed. Once the puddle is formed, really just gotta start bookin' it.

    That thing sounds like my old Ram. When my son would come to pick me up from the bar, you could hear him make the turn 3/4 of a mile away. (Hey, don't judge me!) Just enough time to pay my tab and head for the door. It was so loud inside the cab, we couldn't even talk to each other. Neither of us minded. He didn't care what I had to say and I didn't have anything important to say, either. Wins all around!

    Hey Taylor, just a suggestion. Install a dryer exhaust vent on the side of the building and put an exhaust fan there, too, with a shrout to put in the back of the truck when testing to avoid opening the gate and losing the cold air from the AC.

  • @mclark89

  • @dzzope
    @dzzope ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you dont want to kill your $120 saw blades on stainless, would it be worth using an abrasive cutting disk for the chop saw instead, works pretty well and much much cheaper. (Though a bit slower and creates some dust)
    Also, idea for garage upgrade. Mount a fan in the wall between the garage doors and use flexible, heat resistance tube (like a dryer duct or something) to vent exhaust when you need to run something for a little bit and not open the doors. Bonus if the duct collapses/extends easily for neat storage + use.
    Would have loved to have seen you at lz fest. Saturday's comp was ridiculous, the story of Grant in a stock 350z, 15 yr old in a 700bhp s15 and a 17 yr old in an old Datsun (300 bhp sr20 drive train) show/demo car all making it to the final 4(of that days comp, top 3 advance to overall top 16).. It was ridiculous and awesome.

Dude use Steel-it spray paint on your hangers, you can weld over it and retouch it over and over again without any hard lines or blend marks. Honestly this shit is just gold in a can!!

    You should look into adding exhaust hose vents. A lot of shops up north have them. It's essentialy a dryer hose vent that you clamp to the exhaust, and it goes to an outlet on the door. That way, you don't have to lose any valuable AC in that florida heat.

    I have a 2000 Silverado extended cab, lowered 4/6, and my stock 2.75" exhaust interfered with the axle, so I'm gonna assume you'll have to get creative with that big ole 4". Sounds good and it is completely out of the way of everything.

    I love that you want it to sound awesome. In order to get the best sound you'll have to sacrifice a little flow. Forget the H pipe and go true duals. Dual 3" would probably serve your turbo setup better, but on a stock 6.0, dual 2 1/2" has the sound with a couple cherry bombs. Just passing it forward. Thanks for the content!

    Have you considered an exhaust pass-through in the wall between the roll-up doors? Flex hoses and boots are available that attach to the tailpipe. You could possibly use an aluminum 6" dust collection system blast gate for the wall penetration. It's all available on the jungle site.

I have a 3.5" tail pipe, and it's a bit tight on a lowered truck. I'm at a bit of a crossroad currently, I almost feel like the truck isn't loud enough somedays, then others I think it's perfect. Zinc and stainless steel react with each other. The zinc corrodes, turns white then the metal it’s protecting corrodes and rusts too. It’s why you should only use stainless hardware with stainless. Also you need to add some kind of wax or oil to the threads when using stainless hardware as it does a thing called galling and without lubrication you need to cut them apart.

    Ever consider putting an exhaust port through your door or sidewall? A lot of shops up here in Michigan have them for the winter season. Just connect a hose from exhaust tip top port in the door.

    Need an exhaust port for the door then you can keep it closed and exhaust will go out side 😊

    Hey Taylor... you should buy and build another Porsche 944. You've grown so much as a builder since then, think what you could do with one now? I'd like to see it.

    you could get exhaust cutouts with tubes for your garage doors that way you can keep the doors down when you need to start your cars

    Cut up a new roll pan and do a custom center mount exhaust like a gen4 camaro with the wide flat tips
