    Gearbuilders tip, use a punch to put witness marks on the bearing cap and axle next to each other. 1 dot on one side next to each other, 2 dots on the opposite side next to each other. Do them on the top side of the cap/axle and you can never mix up the caps even if you degrease them. Just match up the dots.

      IO. We are beyond excited for that they made the playoff. Have a fun time at the game. I’m pretty jealous. Lol.

    It ain't got to be pretty, it just needs to hold. They look good enough. We stick welded nickel rod on the cast, then mig welded the steel to the nickel. Never had a failure. Excited to watch the build.

      Thanks. That was exactly what I was thinking too “Looks good enough”. I might have to try the nickel stick weld next time but it’s been 10+yrs since I’ve stick welded.

    New build is looking awesome. After Christmas I'm getting back to my YJ build. Can't wait to wheel with you guys. Hope all is well.

    No debate...LJ is the Holy Grail. LJ Rubicon is the Unicorn of Unicorns. LJs have the perfect wheelbase.
    I've been searching for an LJ for well over a decade & thought folks were asking way too much back then. In hindsight, it was a score compared to what folks are asking now. But they done changed the game with the advent of TJ to LJ conversion kits!

    • @Ohio_offroad_adventures
      @Ohio_offroad_adventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve wanted one for a very long time too. I just wish they would create the New JLs to have slightly longer wheelbases and more body like the LJs had but then the purist Jeep guys would be mad.
      And the whole TJ to LJ kits are awesome. I’ve been planning doing a build like this for a while beyond excited to get this thing moving.

      @@Ohio_offroad_adventures this whole "purist" Jeep guy thing is idiotic. I consider myself to be a hardcore Jeep guy through & through. I can appreciate everything from a '44 Willys to Kaiser to JLU and everything in between... but this whole debate over what is or isn't a "real Jeep" is ridiculous. The purists can be mad all they want, fact is the Jeep Industry & it's aftermarket is thriving because of the advent of 4 door Wranglers that supposedly aren't real Jeeps.
      But who am I to talk... I'm a Mall Crawler hater so everything I said might make me a hypocrite 🤣

    Awesome content. Great to see the build coming along. As an LJ owner who is doing the ton swap right now, the ONE draw back I haven't liked is I left my 4 door because of the wheel base around here in the South East. I'm at 109 (which is awesome on the type boulder/rocks we have here) on my LJ now and on 40s and my REAR tire does not clear the back bumper because of the extra tub length. To clear it, I would be back at my 116 wheelbase like my 4 door JKU. Just food for thought. Stretch it 9-10 and have something in between!!

      Thanks man! And good to know. I keep debating on shooting for 112-115”. I know I like the wheelbase on our JKU with the 42s especially on bigger ledges.

    Can’t wait to see this build series……. Just remember add plenty gussets and over build everything easier to do it now while it’s completely stripped then to brake it down the road and try and reengineer it

    • @Ohio_offroad_adventures
      @Ohio_offroad_adventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s gonna be tons of fun for us. I’m sure we will struggle on a few things and definitely will be learning as we go. And will be adding tons of extra gusseting. I want this to last for what we will be putting it through.

    Actually Josh, your welds look better than what I was expecting to see. The important part is good penetration and you nailed it! And they will look awesome under a good coat of paint. I'm really looking forward to watching this build as it progresses. What a project! Ashley will love her new Jeep. 😁

    Correction a LJ is a poor person's CJ8 and CJ is king, big difference is a tj/lj conversion is obtainable.

    • @Ohio_offroad_adventures
      @Ohio_offroad_adventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      So true. I would love to have a CJ. But I also wouldn’t want to cut it all up and build it. Just have it be a Sunday cruiser.

    • @callmesomething1425
      @callmesomething1425 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Ohio Offroad one of my future projects will be to cut up a perfectly good CJ5 to make a CJ6 out of it. It's not sacrilegious as long as you have a plan and the ability. Then again I'm all for chopping vehicles up to make them cooler so it's all perspective. I would cut a golden eagle into a pick up if it was the CJ7 I had on hand. If it's rare then it just makes it cooler in my eyes. 1 of 74,624 made... well I just made it 1 of 1 so now what 😆
