Jern you’re not wrong - I have owned the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max and I’m now on the 15 Plus and it’s my favourite iPhone to date. Nobody needs a fricken pro. The build quality is top notch amazing, it weighs so much less than the pro max model but still has a GORGEOUS large screen and amazing battery life, the cameras produce insane quality photos even with only 2 lenses, and it’s smooth AF even with 60htz. I love it. It feels like phone peace.
As someone with just one camera on my iPhone Xr and iPad Pro 2018, I understand that if we're given a feature, it's good enough. The tech does what it needs to do, and we can make the most of it without feeling like we're missing out on anything essential
Yeah, creating excitement was the main gift of Steve Jobs as a human being; He utilized that in so many ways, from attracting other geniuses to work in Apple all the way to giving keynote speeches about their products. There was just something in him that made everything he talked about sound interesting. It's a combination of his deep belief in what Apple can accomplish and his natural speaking bravado, which is a gift from God. When he passed away, that magic also left Apple.
I've been thinking exactly this since the leaks. If this has an OLED, 48MP camera (even if it's a single lens), MagSafe and maybe even Dynamic Island, I'd upgrade to it from my 12 Pro Max. It's crazy to think moving from a Pro Max to an SE can be called an upgrade, but it definitely could be.
13PM here and I’m thinking about it too.. was never a huge fan of the bigger screens tbh. It was my first phone since an 8 and I wanted the exclusive features/better battery.. but I’m about ready to go back to more practical.
Home button? Touch ID? A properly shaped screen? The SE was the last remaining relic of everything great newer iPhones lost, and in my eyes the SE4 simply destroys all of this.
My first gen SE is the last iPhone to have a headphone jack. And it is the last iPhone to be not huge (4.0“!). I am clinging to that thing until it falls apart.
I love SE iPhones, had the 1st gen and I still use a 2nd gen (from 2020). Works great, runs iOS 18, only the battery is getting bad after 4 years. It’s a winning recipe: latest gen SOC and battery tech. Cheaper body, cheaper screen and no extra cameras for a price cut. BUT those cheaper parts used to be on the top of the line just couple years ago and no one complained then!
I hope the SE 4 tries to keep the colours / aesthetics of the iPhone 15. I think the iPhone 15 with its pastel colours is absolutely beautiful (maybe the best looking smartphone ever made).
Thanks, Jon! These new videos are awesome. The storytelling and the fresh way of talking about tech are just too good. These are some of the best tech videos on the internet-no one even comes close.
I’m using iphone 7 right now bc my iphone x battery is being replaced , and omg i love how it’s small thin and light and the frame is not a knife like the newer iphones …. Honestly this iphone se 4 is all i ever want in a smartphone, 1 camera is enough for me , faceid is a must . I will definitely upgrade, i just hope the base model comes with at least 128 Gb storage .
Man you always get me, you are three steps ahead of other tech youtubers, actually my mom has a 13 Mini, she only uses to call and simple photos, she has never used UltraWide camera, and I was thinking about waiting for Iphone 17 Air to buy it for her, now you opened my eyes and I think I'll buy her a SE4 and will still be a huge upgrade compared to 13 Mini. it is incredible how fast technology is democratized, in a few years the Mercedes A-class of today of entry range of 35.000 dollars you will be able to get them for 10.000 dollars and they will be the low range of everything that will be available.
Completely agree Jon, Said and made perfectly, IPhones have become really boring now but the SE is literally the perfect thing to bring back excitement in the iPhone!!- Thanks Jon for creating these amazing videos , Keep it up!
But, but, but... Apple marketing... you must but the new shiny. Seriously though, the new iPhones look the same and basically function the same. The Apple store installed a new battery in my 12PM. It does everything I need.
I have owned every version of iPhone SE. I never want to spend over $500 for a phone, and the SE fits the bill every time. It is the main reason that I left Android behind 7 years ago.
Yes I like the super small size of the first one. I also like that it still has a headphone jack. Unfortunately the battery life is awful on that one for today’s purposes. I use it mostly as my music player to take some pressure off my main IPhone SE 2022
I had an iPhone 14 Pro for 14 months. And sold it. Bought a second hand 11pro max and replaced the battery. Here in canada phone plans are expensive. I realized I don’t need the best. This phone does everything that phone did perfectly (besides camera quality) I went from $130 a month to $47
How does the phone you use influence your monthly cost? The phone I use and my contract with the mobile provider are 2 separate things. I can always change one w/o any impact on the other...
my first ever iphone was the iphone 12, which is still the phone i use. When I will change it one of the SE models will probably be the one for me. Having one camera is NOT a problem for me. I am not a photos guy anyway. The SE model for a light user as myself is the perfect balance between cost and functionality/apple quality

i still have my iPhone SE (Gen 1). sad that the updates were destroying the battery life, but it’s still pretty much alive and usable. i am excited for SE 4. my SE 1 is my last iPhone. Nothing will ever ever beat that phone chassis. I love that phone till now. i currently have a z flip 5. i love it A LOT, except for the fact that my notifications, especially on social media apps, are almost always delayed. which is why i still want an iPhone, and have been contemplating on buying the 16, but now…i might just get the SE 4.
Yeah I've similarly been wondering how much I'd even miss from the regular 16. I wouldn't miss the ultrawide camera that much, and you need to upgrade to Pro for ProMotion and that won't change until at least the 17. If the SE has A18/8GB and AI, I'm really not sure what I'd miss.
I am still using my original iPhone SE, which I purchased in March 2017. Took the phone with me to Italy in 2018 and got some great shots… Also got some great pictures of Ireland with an iPhone 5s… Single lens cameras are underrated… Looking forward to the new SE.
If SE gets released around 450 to 500 and Apple will treat it as a first class citizen by giving it updates and feature drops, I am going to buy it. It will be my first Apple device.
This is the best iPhone SE 4 rumors video I've seen so far by a long shot. Music and video content is out of this world. I am currently saving for the SE 4, for whenever it comes out. I wish Apple still made the iPod Touch!
That is basically gatekeeping. "Either buy our $1000+ (depending in which country it is sold) Pro model to enjoy those perks, or go f*ck your self plebian"
@@ryand9902 Because 120hz is becoming (if it didn't already become) industry standard. You have 300$ phones having fhd and 120hz, but apple is gatekeeping it.
@@ryand9902you don’t, but they look nice. Never have a phone (or any other device) with 120hz screens, but even watching people use pro iPhones, it looks a lot smoother than 60hz screens, I believe it also feels more responsive (I only used them a little bit in the Apple store).
…for you and some people. I don’t give a damn about it, as long as it serves the basic function of taking semi-decent photos and enabling app functionalities (scans, QR etc.). So this is exactly the corner I would trade for a beefy compute units in a bargain price (for Apple standard ofc 😂)
You nailed it SE series are about offering the current gen performance in the last gen form factor. Remember the first SE came out after iPhone 6s with the same internal spec and camera. Just with 5s design
Myself included in what you just said. I ended up getting an iPhone 14 last December reduced has the same features as the iPhone 15 with an exception of a physical USB-C port. The physical port didn’t matter to me because I use AirDrop to transfer most things anyways, there is no fast speed on that USB-C unless you get the pro iPhone the older model wasn’t a bad deal at all.
I am an iPhone user and have been since 2012. Mainly because of the unsurpassed integration with other devices, primarily my computer and iPad. iPhones are not changing much anymore, at least not on the outside and in the user experience. I have only ever used iP 4s, 6, 8, and now 15 pro. I actually personally changed battery in both the 4s and 6, and I fixed some other pieces such as the speaker and microphone that eventually failed in the 6 as well. It only feels as if I have made one major physical experience upgrade: to the 15 pro (new user experience and refreshingly snappy) and one minor: 4s to 6 (the screen grew significantly, but the package still felt slim). The only major user experience upgrades I would argue are the introduction of biometrics and NFC payments. The jump from touch to Face ID is fairly insignificant in this context (although the almost complete removal of the bezels is an æsthetically nice bonus). I
3:50 personally I use all three cameras and often frame my shots properly. So yes, my 15 Pro Max buy is justified for me, and I've researched a lot whether I really need it. And needless to say it's amazing
I would have been 100% sold if I didn’t want a bigger phone this year 😩 I always get the base models and I finally wanted to spring for the next size up. Maybe I’ll try again on a later SE release
@@OneFreeMan17 why is a 120hz necessary? Because Apple is the only company to sell an $800-$1200 base model without one that’s why. It’s a better user experience. My comment is meant to be satirical because the SE’s are normally $500-$600, so while it would be nice for these phones to also have 120hz display, it isn’t necessary because it’s meant to be the most affordable iPhone.

Hey Jon 😊 I hope that you are well. I bought my iPhone 11 Pro in 2020 and are still using it! I am finally ready to upgrade, only due to the benefits of A.I. . I was thinking exactly what you stated here in your video. We all spend SO much money on our phones. However, normally it is not a good investment. I love my tech but if the SE will have A.I. then I am onboard! Thanks Jon 😊👍🏻🍺
They started cutting corners when they removed the environment noise canceling microphone from the iPhone SE 3 and the iPhone 13 (or 12, not sure). You know, the extra microphone that cancels background noise when you are actually making a phone call in a noisy environment.
I'm a Retiree and I've had an SE3 since the first week it was introduced and I couldn't be happier. I switched from a Samsung S8 and I like this iphone so much more. I don't use my phone for any photos except direct deposit or everyday other tasks so it makes sense not to pay for more. I got the 128gb version for $479. I'm ready to buy the SE4 next year it does indeed exist. Most people don't realize that except for a few small things mine has the same Processor and Ram as the regular iphone 13. I hope Apple keeps that equivalency for the SE4 being like the Iphone 16. I haven't heard that Apple has confirmed that there IS an Se4 on the horizon though so all this SE4 talk could be describing only an imagined new phone.
Technology maturing is something to include in the conversation for sure. A lack of changes doesn't always equate to lack of "innovation" it often is a sign of product maturity. Wanting change for the sake of change is one of the most annoying aspects of the tech community. At least for me, it is because I use my technology mostly as tools, not toys. But I do still enjoy experiencing the evolution of tech and where it is going.
Recently upgraded my 6s Plus to a 13. The only reason I got a 13 was because I’m not in a financial spot to repair a secondhand phone were it to get broken. As a photographer the lack of a telephoto camera is a major annoyance to me, and I rarely use the ultrawide camera apart to take extreme-closeup memeable cat pictures. If the SE gets a 48MP sensor and is not software-locked out of the 2x zoom, I’m fucking upgrading.
The main reason why I love Samsung is because even the base model have an Ultra-wide, a 3X telephoto and a main lens. But iPhones base model have Ultra-wide and main lens only which is a Bummer.
You are right! Great video. The SE model iPhones are always the best value in the Apple lineup IMO. At launch, it’s even hard to find a similar spec Android phone for a similar price because Apple includes the newest processor.

The build quality is top notch amazing, it weighs so much less than the pro max model but still has a GORGEOUS large screen and amazing battery life, the cameras produce insane quality photos even with only 2 lenses, and it’s smooth AF even with 60htz. I love it. It feels like phone peace.
Dropping this video on Google Pixel Day is Hilarious, never change Jern lol
Yeah, iSheep's thing 😅
As someone with just one camera on my iPhone Xr and iPad Pro 2018, I understand that if we're given a feature, it's good enough. The tech does what it needs to do, and we can make the most of it without feeling like we're missing out on anything essential
Title does not lie.
Android phones are not that fun either.
💯
they always have been boring

@@christianplay4041 bahaha bet you would of been denied the s20 ULTRA phone case with the front side interaxctive notification window 🎉🫶
If this comes to life, it'll be the greatest acquisition product Apple ever created
It's crazy to think moving from a Pro Max to an SE can be called an upgrade, but it definitely could be.
omg please don't mind my rant here: MagSafe is one of THE WORST features ever
13PM here and I’m thinking about it too.. was never a huge fan of the bigger screens tbh. It was my first phone since an 8 and I wanted the exclusive features/better battery.. but I’m about ready to go back to more practical.
@@spacej0shwhat’s wrong with MagSafe (I never have iPhone with one)
3:15 "bummer, I know... Or is it?" [VSauce music starts playing]
Idk why apple gets all the hate when other companies like Samsung and Google phone look the same and have minor improvements inside
Best channel ever, i don't know what I'm doing here, don't have an iphone. However your production is stunning. Thanks for the trip
The channel has learned a thing or two about presentations from Steve Jobs. Keep up it, the quality is impressive!!!
Your videos are so much more fun than the old news ones. You were always fun to watch but now the videos stand up on their own too
I'm still using an iPhone 12 Pro, and see no need to upgrade until I need/want to.
But, but, but... Apple marketing... you must but the new shiny. Seriously though, the new iPhones look the same and basically function the same. The Apple store installed a new battery in my 12PM. It does everything I need.
@@dazauto107 if I don't upgrade soon, I may need a new battery, but that will be cheaper than buying a new iPhone.
Bruh its only been 4 years. Ofc u dont need to upgrade
same, but my battery health is getting pretty grim and replacements are still pretty expensive
@@waltersixinchsub9861 gotta be cheaper than a new iPhone.
This concept is amazing. Something with an affordable yet amazingly designed phone. Going right back to the basics and not overthinking it.
Whos here after just watching the release of the new iphone 16?
Meee but e days later
Absolutely correct, your video got me actually hyped for a phone, the way I haven't been in the past few years
Bro didn't make a video. Bro made a short movie experience.
I love where production value of this channel is headed, very well done.
I have owned every version of iPhone SE. I never want to spend over $500 for a phone, and the SE fits the bill every time. It is the main reason that I left Android behind 7 years ago.
I miss the 1st gen SE. That iphone 5 design was perfect.
Yes I like the super small size of the first one. I also like that it still has a headphone jack. Unfortunately the battery life is awful on that one for today’s purposes. I use it mostly as my music player to take some pressure off my main IPhone SE 2022
You always have the best perspective on these things, always nice watching your videos cause you never follow the mass train on TH-cam.
I had an iPhone 14 Pro for 14 months. And sold it. Bought a second hand 11pro max and replaced the battery. Here in canada phone plans are expensive. I realized I don’t need the best. This phone does everything that phone did perfectly (besides camera quality) I went from $130 a month to $47
some happened to 14 Pro just ordered one myself
How does the phone you use influence your monthly cost?
The phone I use and my contract with the mobile provider are 2 separate things. I can always change one w/o any impact on the other...
Phone plans are not expensive if you go with flanker brands like Public Mobile or Koodo for example.
my first ever iphone was the iphone 12, which is still the phone i use. When I will change it one of the SE models will probably be the one for me. Having one camera is NOT a problem for me. I am not a photos guy anyway. The SE model for a light user as myself is the perfect balance between cost and functionality/apple quality
Give me a new mini iPhone! I don’t what a behemoth in my pocket.
I agree cos one bulge is already enough.
I always watch an FPT video when it drops! I am always entertained and enjoy the Jern dissertation! Love the videos Jern! Keep up the great work AND I really enjoyed the “1st” Recycle Bin podcast with all the background info on you, Bern, and FPT.
Jumping from 3-5 cameras back to 1. Apple: INNOVATION
And Apple sheeps still eat that shit
Isn’t fitting functionality of 3 cameras into 1 innovation ? Doing more with less ? Of course it is.
You are aware this isnt produced by Apple right? they have said nothing about any camera on the new SE.....
It's a feature. 😂
I can clearly imagine a few cameras combining to become one with a cool sound effect in the presentation and everyone watching are just “whoa!”
i still have my iPhone SE (Gen 1). sad that the updates were destroying the battery life, but it’s still pretty much alive and usable. i am excited for SE 4. my SE 1 is my last iPhone.
Finally a phone for people like me who need the power but not the cameras ❤. A worthy successor to the under appreciate but successful IPhone XR
Still using my iPhone XR. Such a good phone it is. Even after 4 years, it holds battery for more than 13-14 hrs
Anyone seeing the toilet in the background 1:05
I am still using my original iPhone SE, which I purchased in March 2017. Took the phone with me to Italy in 2018 and got some great shots… Also got some great pictures of Ireland with an iPhone 5s…
Single lens cameras are underrated… Looking forward to the new SE.
1:04 I like the pro models but the base models are horrible. no 120hz display nor always on display? these things should be in every flagship phone
You just don't know how to use base model iPhone
That is basically gatekeeping. "Either buy our $1000+ (depending in which country it is sold) Pro model to enjoy those perks, or go f*ck your self plebian"
Why do you need a 120 hz display on a phone?
@@ryand9902 Because 120hz is becoming (if it didn't already become) industry standard. You have 300$ phones having fhd and 120hz, but apple is gatekeeping it.
@@ryand9902you don’t, but they look nice. Never have a phone (or any other device) with 120hz screens, but even watching people use pro iPhones, it looks a lot smoother than 60hz screens, I believe it also feels more responsive (I only used them a little bit in the Apple store).
6:04
I have to say when FPT does sponsored in video ad, I like the fact that it is almost always something I can actually use.
"they cut the corner at the camera department" 🤣 the most important corner of the phone 🫤
…for you and some people.
I don’t give a damn about it, as long as it serves the basic function of taking semi-decent photos and enabling app functionalities (scans, QR etc.). So this is exactly the corner I would trade for a beefy compute units in a bargain price (for Apple standard ofc 😂)
One of your best John
Thank you
I really enjoy your deep thought provoking videos and you nail this one
The videography, editing and content delivery of this channel though…
Nothing shot of the best!
I was an iPhone user up until galaxy s24 announcement, since then I migrated to android and believe me I'm holding myself hard not to come back
03:15 Whoa.. 👉🏻(whistles).. Classic vsauce moment right there! 🥸
My mother is eyeing this SE4 to replace her iPhone 8. Can't wait for the release
Hmm. Maybe the line up could be just “iPhone” for 500, “iPhone air” for 800, “iPhone Pro” for 1100.
Still needs numbers (iPhone 16 Air or iPhone Air 16). People don’t upgrade iPads that often, so they don’t need model numbers but iPhones do
You nailed it
SE series are about offering the current gen performance in the last gen form factor. Remember the first SE came out after iPhone 6s with the same internal spec and camera. Just with 5s design
Alternate title : guy tries to sell you the unreleased SE 4 that’s already planned and pretends he came up with the idea
Myself included in what you just said. I ended up getting an iPhone 14 last December reduced has the same features as the iPhone 15 with an exception of a physical USB-C port. The physical port didn’t matter to me because I use AirDrop to transfer most things anyways, there is no fast speed on that USB-C unless you get the pro iPhone the older model wasn’t a bad deal at all.
more cameras = more cares
holy crap, i got a loike!
I have asceennnndeeeeeeeeeeddddddddd!
I
I bought a new £1,000 Windows 11 gaming PC with an AMD CPU and graphics card this year. This is a far better use of my £1,000 than an iPhone would be.
Depending on your needs. In the end, they are both just computers. One is good for gaming, one is very portable, has cameras, a phone, etc.
3:50 personally I use all three cameras and often frame my shots properly. So yes, my 15 Pro Max buy is justified for me, and I've researched a lot whether I really need it. And needless to say it's amazing
just summarize and cut to the chase ffs.
I would have been 100% sold if I didn’t want a bigger phone this year 😩 I always get the base models and I finally wanted to spring for the next size up. Maybe I’ll try again on a later SE release
Bet it won’t have 120hz display tho 10:03
Why is that necessary?
@@OneFreeMan17 why is a 120hz necessary? Because Apple is the only company to sell an $800-$1200 base model without one that’s why. It’s a better user experience. My comment is meant to be satirical because the SE’s are normally $500-$600, so while it would be nice for these phones to also have 120hz display, it isn’t necessary because it’s meant to be the most affordable iPhone.
iPhone Se4 with
iPhone 14 plus case
Usb C with fast charging
1 48 megapixel camera
And 1 12 megapixel front camera with 4k capabilities

The color of the background Looks warmer… I like it
Hey Jon 😊
I hope that you are well.
I have the se 3 right now I want to upgrade as soon as possible those are some really cool feature ; thank you for the information
"SOLID"! Video, presentation, and commentary catches your attention. VERY WELL DONE!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Your videos in the past months have been so good, keep it up
The main reason why I love Samsung is because even the base model have an Ultra-wide, a 3X telephoto and a main lens.
