Hey Steve. Don’t forget, we’ve all seen the TH-cam stuff from America that tells us that split rings and spider hubs will kill you if you even mention the words. I used to work at a servo and repair flats all the time on these. You knew they wanted to bite you so you put em together right the first time. Lucky I’m still here eh? 🤣
Yes mick they can be very dangerous. I try not to mention to much about them incase someone does happen to listen and something goes wrong. That’s why I only mentioned the lug nuts
Hi Neil, yes it was mate . It went for a lot longer than the video did. If the steering box was still fitted I would of called someone to steer it. Would of been a half hour job then. I did enjoy a few mate
Awesome morning brother !!! Just got to the house from work !!! Trying to catch up on your videos lol !!! Hope yall have an awesome day !!! Love those Ole cabovers
Hi mate. Geez don’t I what! I don’t know why sometimes. I guess I could of made it easier and just dragged it off and left it but I like things to be parked neatly and lined up, it’s tidy then
290 Formula were a bloody good motor mate pulled R,T too Moomba in early days in plastic Atkinson didnt like truck but bloody rippa donk ,,, buda good one Steve CHEERS
A while back I had a girlfriend who was nearly that stubborn. You have more persistence than me 😁 Did a bit more research on the UD: the 6cyl may be a Nissan PD6. 10,308cc naturally-aspirated for 185bhp/138kW. I think there was a turbo version later but I’m not 100% sure - the Japanese manufacturers hung onto big naturally-aspirated engines for much longer than most 🙂
Yes mate it is but it’s been cut. Before I got it someone wanted the diffs out of it so the cut the rails. I was given the rest of it for steering and cab parts. No motor or trans in it
hey steve ron franklin from darwin. just a question the old ud has it got a v8 in it they were old 853s and 871, that nissan got and rebuilt, and you had to order pistons by giving engine number as they were all difrent
Hi Ron thanks for watching. No mate it’s a turbocharged 6 cylinder in that one. It’s a 4wd. It runs and drives nice. I used it to dig the piers for my house extension. Another bloke also asked if it was a naturally aspirated v8. I haven’t had a lot to do with UD engines so that is news to me. I wonder why they were all different? I have a 5 cylinder 2stroke UD engine here but that’s all I’ve had much to do with and even that is very limited knowledge. Great to hear from you in Darwin mate
Spiders still most popular in dust crap bush 10 stud can be real mudda fuggas ta take off in dust crappie conditions old mate still buy trailers spiders bush jobs ,,, springs not airbag each too iz own Aye
Best layed plans aye Steve. Ah, it's always something . 👊😎👍
Thank you mate

When I was younger I would generally enjoy a cold snack while admiring a job well done!
It’s something that needs to happen mate indeed
Place seems to be filling up nicely Steve !
Yes Ard, not sure where it’s going to stop mate😅.
Another great video mate, never to early for a cold snack mate, i'am always telling the Wife, it's 12 o'clock somewhere in the world.
Thanks mate. No you are right, it’s just it would of been a long day if I had of started at that stage. I think I only just finished a coffee 😅
Can't drink all day unless ya start in the morning aye ! Cheers 🍺🤛😎👍
I love the birds in the Aussie bush.
Very noisy on the camera mate. You don’t realise until watching it back
Great job Steve love the inter
Thanks mate yes they look great
I swear those Milwaukee impacts can do almost anything
Yes mate they are good
Lotta work there mate ! Had ya breathing hard a couple times ! 🌵
It was hard mate and only half of it was on the video
Filled in the day mate n kept you out of the pub ,,, 👍
Yes it certainly did that. Took a lot longer than I wanted it too
Enjoyed vid Steve 👍 if I wasn't on the other side of the planet I would have enjoyed giving you a hand and having a few 🍻 mate
Thanks Nick. I sure would of appreciated it mate
Hi Steve, I bet that was a pain in the ass doing it by yourself. and the length of time it took. Just that much more Beer to enjoy😀
Hi Neil, yes it was mate . It went for a lot longer than the video did. If the steering box was still fitted I would of called someone to steer it. Would of been a half hour job then. I did enjoy a few mate
Well done brother you got her home and parked even tho it was a pain in the arse lol, keep them vids coming Steve
It sure was mate. If I had a hand it would of halved the work. There’s more coming mate
Awesome morning brother !!! Just got to the house from work !!! Trying to catch up on your videos lol !!! Hope yall have an awesome day !!! Love those Ole cabovers
Morning mate. Yes mate make sure you catch up🤣. I love them too
You don't half set yourself some challenges Steveo!.. Good stuff mate.
Hi mate. Geez don’t I what! I don’t know why sometimes. I guess I could of made it easier and just dragged it off and left it but I like things to be parked neatly and lined up, it’s tidy then
That was a bit of a mission. I reckon good paint job on spider and rims looks better than an other rim type. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing Steve
It was mate. Yes I do too. All the trucks I do up I take pride in making the spiders look nice. I’m not at all into stud rims or anything else
I know what it’s like doing certain jobs by yourself, it can be twice as hard and take four times as long but you still get it done.👍
If the steering worked I’d get someone to steer it and it would of taken an hour. Not most of the day
I would love to have an old Transtart
They look great mate. I’ve wanted one for a long time and now I have 3. All need loads of work though
@@stevesplacedownunderYeah I'm from Tasmania and I haven't even seen one down here
Yeah ok mate. Surely there would of been some over there at some stage. Maybe all gone now
@@stevesplacedownunder yeah there is probably a couple hiding away somewhere I just haven't found them yet
Keep looking mate you never know
290 Formula were a bloody good motor mate pulled R,T too Moomba in early days in plastic Atkinson didnt like truck but bloody rippa donk ,,, buda good one Steve CHEERS
NTC 290 Cummins and it changed to Formula 300 with reduced revs at 1900 rpm
Yes mate I believe they were. Thanks Ron
Maybe lash down steering wheel to track straight ?
Hi Andy. The actual steering box is on the tray on the back. It was removed for another truck

Gday Jim. Geez mate I bet your glad that’s over. It’s a turbocharged 6 cylinder in it mate. I will do a walk around video on it
Cool vid as always Steve that wouldn't happen to be a old purple Kenworth cabover at 24:09 any chance we could get a close up? 👍
Yes mate it is but it’s been cut. Before I got it someone wanted the diffs out of it so the cut the rails. I was given the rest of it for steering and cab parts. No motor or trans in it
No worries mate you can never have to many spares
Yes that’s right and I didn’t pay for it
Be careful brother working by yourself like that can get pretty scary
Yes mate I know indeed. Wasn’t easy either

This is about the safest way to move a non going truck which can be very dangerous and a pain in the arse.
Yes mate and I didn’t want to pull it to hard and have that chain let go and come through the window. It wasn’t easy
Is that a Cummins in your Kenworth Steve?
Detroit 871 mate
Was,nt lots them bonnet UD aye
I haven’t seen many mate no
Spiders still most popular in dust crap bush 10 stud can be real mudda fuggas ta take off in dust crappie conditions old mate still buy trailers spiders bush jobs ,,, springs not airbag each too iz own Aye
Yes Ron spiders are the go. They are just heavier that’s why they aren’t around as much now
