A simpler, easier and safer way (without an 'extra' equipment) is to teach the horse to only load ONE foot at a time, and STOP. So obviously it's a front foot, stop him there, and give him some praise, then UNLOAD that foot. Spend some time at Each Stage, 2 feet in, 2 feet OUT, etc. with long pauses when they quietly have the desired number of feet in. Let them believe that that is the entire exercise...then repeat.
When you have all four feet in, stop them before they get to their position where they will travel, and unload them again.
Loading (and unloading) is one of those things that if you take 'forever' in the beginning, they will always load/unload quietly, regardless of the circumstances...which can save their life, and yours, and prevent the injuries that easily happen to both horse and handler if there's any fear or disrespect that wasn't handled completely, in the Beginning.... It won't go well if there's a hole in the training, when the going gets tough. Picture extreme weather events, trying to load an injured horse, or unload onto a slippery surface...
I'm taking the time to write this, b/c we are in the pro-horse business where we have hundreds of (trained) horses load and unload at our facility every year, for many years...and we've seen it All.
Including a tragedy where a person lost his life, and numerous serious injuries to both horse and handler.

@@ltrocha- Only repetition of correct behavior. This is a given for you, but some of us would be just as likely to reinforce poor behavior.
