But just personally my mom has never been this supportive or warm to me despite a life long attempt to earn her approval, including by becoming a lawyer and giving her thousands in allowance every month. She’s still never been this supportive to me lol. That’s why I think supportive Asian parents are so special ❤️
For the quail eggs, I've gotten a fork and pricked them so the marinade can get deeper into the egg. Really helps the flavor.
I would love to see you do a “cheapest meal possible at hotpot” video or something like that with your thrifty mom!! I’ve never been because I was so nervous about spending that much money on something I didn’t even know if I’d like but this video hinted at all sorts of possibilities for a more affordable meal! so much fun as always thank you ❤

For the bean curd hack, dip the roll into the broth for a second to soften it up. That'll make it much easier to roll and it won't break apart.
For those cold sensitive teeth: Colgate sensitive has twice as much of the antisensitivity ingredients for the price of a regular tube of toothpaste. Helped me a lot. Also, if you use Listerine, switch to the purple one.
for the beancurd roll with beef and shrimp paste; next time wet the bean curd in hot water before unravelling. works a lot better. also, after rerolling put a toothpick through to hold it together.
It would be good dipped in the spicy broth too, if you like the kick

For the marinated quail eggs, you should prick them with toothpicks or a fork. That will help them marinate faster.

For the bean curd wrap I would actually rather wrap the beef over the bean curd and fill it with some shrimp paste just to make it easier to assemble but that’s my opinion I just wanted to say this because it is hard to unravel the bean curd and fill it so yeah😅😅😅😅

Have you been to B-Star on Clement in San Francisco? The sister location to Burma Superstar? It has Jook with a 1,000-year-old Black duck egg, other toppings, and a homemade chili oil and the chili oil is delicious! You should try with your mom! There's shrimp, pork, chicken, and mushroom!

My favorite hack was the noodles. The sound effects were super convincing, loved it! Lol
Tofu roll. I would do it different. I will tightly roll the shrimp paste and beef slice, then insert it into the tofu roll from the side. This will save the hack.
We don't have Haidilao where i live but this video is giving me AMAZING ideas for the next time we go to a hotpot resto. Salivating over here haha
