Always loved hatebreed and I remember watching a rig run down and he was like “yeah I use the tsl 100 version of the jcm2000” and I’ve just been TH-cam guitarist brainwashed into thinking “800s and 900s ONLY” but those don’t do high gain all that well unless you boost the shit out of them. That hatebreed rig rundown totally changed the way I thought about the other jcms
@@Anthoniexg bought a beat up used 6505+, replaced the tubes, boosted it w a cheap sd-1 and it sounds perfect. Saved myself the bajillion dollars that a dual rectifier would’ve cost literally just bc that rig rundown made me rethink what I actually need my gear to do
I have a TSL 100. It sounds awesome. Love the crunch channel with an SD-1. Love the lead channel. And honestly the clean channel is one of the best sounding clean channels I’ve ever played. It gets shit on tone wise and I don’t understand why, it’s dumb. With that being said - it gets shit on for reliability issues and that is 100% deserved. The TSL/DSL 100 had main boards that had shitty fiberglass resin and it goes conductive and the bias runs away and blows power tubes. Marshall finally fixed this with the issue/revision 20 boards but it took them forever to do it. There’s also kits that fix it you can buy. And up until recently you could buy rev20 boards but apparently no longer. I replaced my main board with an rev20 because when I bought it second hand it had one of the conductive boards. Anyway, look into your options for ensuring there’s some longevity with that one. If it’s a post-2005 amp (look at the serial number) you’re probably fine but the only way to be sure is to see what revision number your main board is. Also the footswitch terminal on the amp and the strain relief on the footswitch itself is a jank ass design. Anyway once you deal with the potential reliability issues these amps are rad. While people hate on these amps, to your point Hatebreed has used them forever and have always sounded great.
I also have a tsl100, for 16 years now. Clean channel is great and crunch channel with sd-1 is awesome indeed! I only use the lead channel for solo's. My only complaint is that when I use the fx loop (which isn't great, but kinda works with 1 tc flashback set to kill dry), the amp makes a loud popping sound when you switch channels. I recently purchased a brand new jvm410h. Much more versatile, better switching and waaaaay better fx loops + 2 master volumes for solo boost on every sound. But, the jvm410h doesn't offer the organic sound + clean up that the tsl100 crunch channel offers.
Today’s a great day now that the Tone Zone is back. Congrats on the new amp man. It sounds great, but nobody should be surprised since you are the one wielding the axe 🪓
I recommend you try that amp/tone in a Marshall Mode Four cab loaded with Celestion G12K-100 speakers (AKA the Kerry King Slayer / Slipknot speakers). Also : Hatebreed's tone is sick.
@@chuckbuck7477 JVM have literally so many settings and features almost like a Swiss Army knife of guitar heads. Plus I think they still make the jvms .
Wait. I have to ask. Are you plugging guitar into the amp, into Sure Reactive loader IR simulator, into your Scarlett? Which goes into your computer? Which plays through your desktop monitors? Before anyone talks mad trash, I'm an old Dad, just trying to mosh at my desktop. Back off bruh!
Scratchy fizzy and loose. I don't hear the appeal at all. I would hate life if that's all I had. If you like it that's great I guess. Sounds like total shit to me. 😅

“Cause I don’t care “ lol the TSL is an awesome amp. Had mine for damn near 20 years and it still crushes :)
Love the fact that’s the tone with nothing else needed.👍🏻🤘🏻
