- I love sewing hotpads...especially if they are quick and easy! The first one I did I left an opening the back then I realized...why not leave an opening in the front!
AND NO HAND STITCHING NEEDED.
I USED CANVAS FABRIC FOR THE FRONT AND BACK AND 2 LAYERS OF WARM AND NATURAL AND ONE LAYER OF TOWEL.
It is also recommended to use insul-bright but that can be expensive and I didn't have any.
quick and easy hot pad, no binding hot pad, how to sew a hot pad, hot pad sewing tutorial
very good: self binding hot pad, how to make a hot pad

Common question I’m getting….Cut the backing 8.5” 2:18
Never sew hungry or tired. Truer words have never been spoken! Thanks for the laugh and great tutorial!
Thank you for understanding!
Woohoo! I just made one! I used Pellon Insul Fleece only because I had it on hand. I only buy it when Joann runs all interfacing 50% off. TIP- if you use this, make sure to make your sandwich like this: Place one panel on table shiny side down, add your inner layer, then next shiny side up, then your backing fabric right side up and your top panel right side down. This will ensure the heat gets reflected towards source. This was so much faster than the binding ones! Thanks again Delilah!! ❤
I'm glad you loved it and thank you for sharing the tip!
I like the concise, but thorough instruction. I was glad to see the cutting sizes stay up on the display for long enough to be copied.
Absolutely LOVE this tutorial and the potholder! Very concise and easy to follow, I’m going to use this potholder to start teaching a friend how to sew. Thank you for posting it!
thank you! glad you appreciate the video!
I LOVE the way you teach!!!! It feels like you're a friend, sitting right here sewing with me!!!
thank you, i'm glad you feel that way!
Thank you! Yes. The added labels really elevate the finished make.
thank you!
I love these! I’m due for new hot pads, can’t wait to try these
Very cute..I love the way you left the opening on the front. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! 😊
Love these! Going to make a couple today 😀 I love the labels too, going to make those as well! I love your videos and watch a lot of them…. Hope you have a great day, and just want you to know I appreciate your time
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Thank you so much. I was struggling making pot holders and was unsatisfied with closing the opening on the edge with all that bulk. Your video with the opening in a seam on the top was very helpful. I made one. It was quick and came out great!
@@MarciaSauro-z7q yes 🙌 thank you for the feed back!
Ha! I love this because I’m terrified of bindings! Thank you❤
You're so welcome!
Your tags make me laugh! Thank you for your tutorials! You make boring projects into fun ones that I would love make/give/receive!!
yes! That is my plan all along! glad you like it!
This technique is wonderful! I’d like to try it w/ self quilted mug rugs. Thank you muchly.
You are so welcome! I'm worrking on the tags tutorial now
Love it! Please show how to make the labels! Also can you make one with a place inside to put your hand when using not to burn it?
Simply Genius!
I love this tutorial! I have been looking and looking for just the right pattern. This is it so thank you! Now I can’t wait to make it!! I’m a beginner so this is very doable for me.
You are so welcome! Hope you enjoy them!
It was hard to grasp the opening but I think I got it and will try. I like the concept of not having to do a traditional binding. Great job.
@@eshannon922 thank you!
I love this! I am certain my grand daughter (11yo) will be able to do this as well.
Oh That makes me so happy! My 8 year old can sew too!
I absolutely love every one of your tutorials, from sewing to embroidery I have learned so much from you! Keep it up girl you are very inspirational. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Love, love this idea ! Thank you for sharing this. I will for sure try this out ! 😊
It’s adorable! Thank you!
I'm glad you like it
I have been sewing for at least 65 years and I have a couple of suggestions. First of all, I would like to say how much I enjoy your manner, your voice and your expertise, however, please accept these suggestions with love and grace. It would be wonderful if you could possibly re-do this video and next time slow down when you are sewing the strips along side the 7 inch piece of fabric and explain what you are doing. Secondly, it was not clear how big to cut the backing, toweling and warm and natural. Also, when you are putting the opening on the front, it would be nice to explain more about that. I hope you are not offended by my suggestions, but after reading all of the comments, I do think that most people who saw this video would agree that it is a wonderful potholder but needs some explanation here and there. I will continue to watch your videos and I hope that you are able to re-do it as it is one of the best ideas I have seen. God Bless.
@@mrshansonian thank you! No I don’t ever get offended with suggestions and some of the comments I think were made out of frustration…I’ve been thinking about doing another video about it because I also love the idea! And yes it’s one I thought of all on my own 😊 super quick fast project for the holidays! Thanks for your feedback.
Thank you so much Delilah. I am looking forward to seeing whatever you do and especially this one! Happy Sewing. Nancy H
Great idea! Thanks so much for sharing this. Love the “Let’s Eat” tag😊
@@donnaengeman5031 thank you!
Loved this and plan to make them
thank you!
I love this idea. I’m making a couple of large hot pads for Christmas gifts & will use your technique.
Wonderful! You'll be able to make lots of them in now time.
This style of hot pad is very cute. Thank you for sharing. Do you have a video tutorial of how you embroider your sewing project labels? Do you use cotton fabric for your labels?
Hi, I just used white quilters cotton fabric and ironed on stabilizer to the back of the fabric to give it some stiffness. I’ll have to do a tutorial on it because it’s such a neat little detail.
So cute...I am inspired by these and need to make some. Thanks❤
yes make some, i love how fast and easy they are!
What a great and easy project. Useful as well! Thanks for a great video! Those little labels really give your project a finished look. Thank you for all your efforts!
Thanks so much! Yes its all in the details!
I love these hot pads and I just need to get a walking foot for my machine so I can make some. The little labels are very cute.
Please do!
I do like your method! Saving this video to come back to later.

I love this tutorial. I need to get some hot pads made.
Yes you do…they work up fast
Great directions, thanks.
Thank you! ive had a lot of mixed opinions on this one!
@@SimplyDelilahYour video is fine. Not every video has to be for an absolute beginner. I can’t believe people complain about the littlest things.
This is a wonderful video!!! Something I can do with my granddaughter to start teaching her how to sew…Question, do you have videos on how you make your labels like the Lets Eat, Tacos etc. What kind of machine do you have for that? Love those personal touches..
@@allyson5417 thank you for watching! Here is the video on how I made the labels th-cam.com/video/tnMP-0V82uo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9PsdV1PR35oHPNsG
Insul brite can be expensive .....i like the idea of using a towel and canvas.
This was fast and so simple, thanks for sharing 😃
Glad it was helpful!
Loved this!
Love the stitching/quilting? that you did all over it. NICE.
Thank you! 😊
So cute! Love this technique

Love this method. I will be giving it a try.
Please do!
Very helpful, I must try with your binding idea - thanks so much!
Great tutorial ❤ love the way those came out. Thank you 🎉
Thanks so much 😊
Love this technique. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I love this method of binding! Thank you! This was a great tutorial! Can’t believe the negative comments! 😞
Thank you! its such a timesaver!
Yep! I’m whipping me up a dozen for gifts! Thank you so much!
I love the printed tags. I would love to know where they can be purchased. Thanks
I believe she said that she embroidered them herself. You can also make your own if your machine stitches out fonts or use printable fabric sheets and just print them out. You can write any fun thing you want and also make them very personalized. Have fun!
Hi! I'm going to try some of these. Looks pretty easy. Can you tell me what the approximate tension your using for your hot pads. Thanks
Great idea.
I like this idea -- thank you for sharing this.
These are very nice. I'll have to try them. Thank you.
oh they are so fun, easy and convenient

Haha. I’ve attached my walking foot incorrectly so many times! Good tutorial. Thanks.
glad you can relate!
Can you please tell me the size for the potholder with two pieces on the front. I love that style.
I think this is great! What a great idea and using the towel is 👍
Thank you! i'm trying to use what i have!

GREAT JOB🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I’m excited to make these, thank you so much for the video! I do have one question, if the center top piece is 7x7, why are the border pieces different sizes? Thank you Delilah!
That's awesome.
Thank you!
That was Clever thinking Delilah, I love it❣️ Chris
thank you!
Love the hot pads. Thank you for sharing. Where can I purchase the Let's Eat tags?

Thanks. Will try this technique.
yes, its so fast
Super Cute!!
thank you!
please show us how you made the great little embroidered tag.
Lovely, I'll attempt making this soon. Also going to check out the binding method since I've recently made folded star potholders and looking for a tut on binding those.
Thank you for sharing your adventures in the sewing room! Merry Christmas and God Bless.
oh those star potholders sound so cute!
Love it! Definitely will try this method.
You should! its such a quick make!
Hey loved the video! Quick and easy to follow😊. I'm gonna make some for my mom, xmas around the corner. 🤗
Awesome! Thank you!
love it thank you for sharing😊
Lovely! Do you prewash the canvas? I know it can shrink up a bit. Also, do you have a tutorial on how you make those darling labels? I have an embroidery machine too! Thank you, and Happy New Year!
ive had so many requests for those labels I will for sure make a video...I don't prewash any of it..that way after the wash it will all shrink together because sometimes I mix my quilters cotton with the canvas.
Thank you! I look forward to the label tutorial. It adds such a cute design element to the project.@@SimplyDelilah
from mrs: great project and easy! great scrap buster!!
Thanks so much!
I love these!!!!!!
Thank you!
For gifts you could embroidery ion the hot pot holder and a kitchen towel put a piece trim of the pot holder and the same embroidery and give as a set gift that will look so pretty, you are a very created person. I do enjoy seen you’re TH-cam’s videos . Good luck Carmen from Florida.
Thanks for the tips! That is a great idea to make it even more unique, thank you!
Where can I get those cute little tags?? What a neat idea!!
This is a game changer!!!!!!
I always struggle with how to finish the edges of mine. But I LOVE the idea of having that seam on the front!
Thank you!!!!!
I’m glad you like it! I know I hated trying to leave the opening on the edge then trying to close it up!
Love this I will try it love it
Have fun! I have made many...love them all
I've made a few! Perfect! Thanks
Do you know the name of font you used? I Iike it.

Merry Christmas. It is the Finn font that I purchased from designs by juju.
super cute idea!

Just found your channel & subscribed. These hot pads are so cute. Where can I get the Kung Fu design?!
Great tutorial! Love the labels, too! Do you have a tutorial for those?
i definitely need to get busy on a tutorial for those!
Great ideas
Thank you! 😊
Is there a tutorial on leaving the front open like in second potholder?
Love this!!
thank you!
@SimplyDelilah "Feeling hot, hot, hot" would be a cute, but long tag.
Please do a video on those cute little tags 👍🏻☺️
I know..its long overdue! thank you 😊
I tried it but I think I made mine tooooo thick 🤣but wow what a nice and easy projek it was thank you so so much I really are going to make more.
What size seam allowance did you use to sew on the strips to the sides?
1/4" or 5/8" would work...just pick a seam allowance and stick with that one..
What is the seam allowance for the binding strips?
Excellent video but what seam allowance did you use?
5/8" due to the thickness...so between 1/4 and 5/8 you will be fine, just stay consistent
Thanx..no more bindings..freedom..yea..🇨🇦
Hi, I had to reload the video to fix a mistake so thats why the comment are gone...I made this when Canvas Fabric.
Superb!
thank you!
Love it!
So glad!
How do you do the little tags. (Let's eat)?
For a beginner it would have been helpful that you explained to sew the 2 opposite borders, then pressed them, then sewed the other 2. After pressing take the loop and make sure the looped part is on the inside of the potholder so it is correct when it is turned. Again, if you are hoping to instruct a beginner more than less explanation is helpful. You wizzed thru it all so fast I made mistakes and had to rewatch more than a few times. But to note you do a much better job than the other ones I watched.
I'm sorry.
Just slow down the video to see what was being done
I’m sure she appreciates your review, however this video does not say “ beginner “.
When I sew from videos, I always have to stop the videos, then proceed again since following the steps is easier for a new project and I've sewn for years:)
I always watch a video like 10 times making notes. Then I walk through the steps again! And follow the video on slow playback, pausing when necessary.
