    I feel like the yodel at the beginning of violets tale is supposed to represent the newborn twin's cries(that's why he looks so peculiar and confused). And the sound is so haunting because they were born as doomed souls. They never stood a chance due to a system set up to fail them.

    Hi, great reaction, the man can really pull you into a story, can't he. I couldn't help but notice you seemed visibly shook up near the end though, and I don't blame you. Ren fans, which I consider myself one, are a wonderful group, welcoming, open minded, don't judge, and overall just kind souls. They do have one blind spot though at times, and that's being so excited to see authentic surprise and shock on Jenny n Screech, and a few other songs, that they forget, or don't realize, how "shocking" to one person, could be "traumatic" for another. I worked in emergency medicine for 27yrs, I'm a big advocate for mental health and personally suffer from PTSD, so if you don't mind, I'd like to address my fellow Ren fans in your comment section, something I try to do from time to time, on this particular song, thank you........
    Renegades......we need to do better when suggesting this trilogy to reactors, or new fans of Ren, not saying anyone is doing anything intentionally to bring distress to others, but please issue some sort of a trigger warning. I've seen more than one reactor have a complete breakdown during Violet's Tale when Stevie is yelling at Violet, due to Ren's ability to paint a picture, and that reactor having mental health trauma, aka PTSD, specifically from DV (domestic violence). Even worse, after seeing them break down and not be able to finish Violet's Tale, there were a few comments upset with the reactor for not finishing and scolding them saying nonsense like it's a story everyone should have to watch because it's reality and people need to know about it.
    When people talk about a message like the one in this song/story/work of art, needing to be seen, and forcing people not to ignore it, they mean society in general, or the politicians and leaders who are responsible for society being in such a deplorable condition, it doesn't mean forcing people on an individual basis. We can issue a trigger warning in such a way that doesn't spoil the ending, at all, just say..... "Hey, Ren paints a vivid picture when he tells a story, and if you've experienced DV or have trauma from it, be forewarned that issue is dealt with in this story". Easy peezy.
    I think that is why some are hesitant to issue a warning, because the "OOOHHH Crap!!" moment at the end is wild, and people enjoy watching others have that revelation, myself included, so I totally get where the hesitation comes from, but I think we can all agree, that we should put peoples mental health above our own leisure enjoyment, I know Ren would agree. If ya got this far, thanks for taking the time to read it, not trying to throw shade at anyone, or tell people what to do, I just want this community, Ren fans, to live up to the kindness and understanding that Ren portrays every day, which is a huge factor that led to us coming together in the first place. ✌💚

      Agree. I winced and felt pretty sick the first time I watched Violet’s Tale. Now after so many repeats it has lost that initial impact but have also seen a couple of reactions where it was really triggering beyond a “standard” level of discomfort. The amazing art raises awareness of important topics through unflinching emotional truth but for a few, that could put them in a bad spot in a way that we shouldn’t wish for.

    Okay I'm going to say this for the thousand times my dad would say. Well I told you once I told you a thousand times. I'm 48 years old. My dad made me learn all styles of music. It means I'm eclectic now. It seems to be pushing the buttons on these people that don't understand a certain genre of music that's been around for over 100 years in North America, let alone thousands of years before it's called folk music. So where? There's a story that has a beginning, a middle and an end. That's what his songwriting is. Doesn't matter what genre he's in at that time. He's a folk singer. He's telling you a story and then when he puts the story out in video form it becomes folk music, folk art but it also becomes performance art. Nobody seems to be getting my my drift on this and it makes me shake my head. I'm glad that I'm a homeless guy living in a tent. That way I don't have to bang my head against the freaking wall. He's telling a folk song. He's providing it as performance art. It's an art, not just the art of writing, not just the art of being able to play the song but to relay the song to relate to everybody. I'm going to stop making comments on these reactions and I'm just going to watch his videos because no one seems to understand what's going on

    • @sunshynff
      @sunshynff 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I got ya on age by about 5yrs, I've been playing, listening and for a short time, producing music my entire life starting around the time I learned to walk. I'm sure your dad was a great teacher, but maybe you could have taken it upon yourself to continue the education he started, because the genre or "style" of music Ren is playing is most definitely not folk music, well it could be, but not by your definition, and definitely not in any way that would warrant you leaving such an arrogant comment. Do you think that telling a story with a beginning, middle and end, is unique to folk music?? Or that filming it and making it a visual story only makes that type of music artistic?? Your definition describes ALL genres of music and art, just because folk music more often than not tells a story, and some other genres have periods where they sell out and make songs about nothing so people will buy them, because of shiny things and naked girls, doesn't mean there aren't true artist that have told deep meaningful stories, ones that mirror society and peoples struggles. in those same genres.
      Folk music as we know it today is a recent, N. American genre, traditional folk music only became a thing in the 19th century, not thousands of years ago. It's name is spawned from a word coined in 1846 by William Thoms, "folklore", in which his definition for the word was a little classist if you ask me...."the traditions, customs, and superstitions of the uncultured classes". Today Oxford defines folklore as.... "the whole of oral traditions shared by a particular group of people, culture or subculture; this includes tales, myths, legends, proverbs, poems, jokes, and other oral traditions". While telling stories through music may go back a 1000yrs, it was definitely not called or structured like modern or traditional folk music. It was usually done by bards or minstrels, either in a sing song voice, or accompanied by a single instrument, usually a harp or recorder. Before the 15th century, there wasn't even a complete musical notation system. Neumatic notation was used in churches for singing, but not by wandering musicians with no education or musical training.
      As far as the definition of folk music, modern or traditional, it is quite difficult to get any historian or musician to agree on the exact verbiage. But there are characteristics that many agree with. It's often related to or tied to a culture and nationality (Celtic Folk Music, American Folk, etc..), another tell tale sign of a traditional folk song is that it almost never has an original author, or has ever been copyrighted, meaning it's just a song that's always been around that your grandpa taught you, and his grandpa before him taught your grandpa. Another characteristic is that folk music almost always is about, or at least from the point of view, of the lower class/working class/poor/oppressed/struggling part of whatever culture or nationality said song/music is associated with. Lastly, the characteristic that makes it so hard for people to agree on a set definition, is that each generation of a nationality or culture, puts there own stamp on telling the story of the people, and how they go about it, so much so, that the current generation putting their own stamp on it, or changing how folk music is done, often doesn't realize it, and it doesn't even get recognized as falling into traditional folk music until several generations later.
      Which brings me full circle, albeit quite a large circle I chose to babble, sorry, back to why I commented...With all due respect, there is no reason for you to drop the comment you did, all up on your high horse, acting like "kids today just don't get it". Just cause they don't label it or use the same verbiage as you or I would, doesn't mean they don't get it, trust me, they do. Not to mention I have seen a TON of Ren reactions, and seen quite a large amount of people on this trilogy and Hi Ren especially, refer to them literally as "a work of art" "A one man show worthy of being on Broadway". Even if we were calling this song folk music (I call it Ren music) you should check out the rest of his catalog, I've never seen one artist that can make songs in so many genres, and not just be able to "pull off" crossing genres, but do it better than most artists that exclusively due that one genre...lol.
      Lastly, now that I get that off my chest, I want you to know that I'm truly sorry for the situation you're in, no one should be without a home, and that doesn't mean "I pity you", just saying I know how rough it is out there these days. If you find yourself anywhere near the St. Louis area in the U.S., I put people up from time to time, folks that just can't catch a break, or need somewhere to get clean. I had a room just open up if you're nearby, it's not much, but it's warm and dry, and I don't ask for any money or goods, it's also not permanent, I usually give people 2-3 months, to get clean, get their head straight, come up with a game plan, whatever. The only thing I ask is that people clean up after themselves, respect my home and anyone else staying here, chip in with basic chores if you feel up to it (I don't force that stuff on anyone), let me know if you'll be gettin' clean, I allow addicts to finish their stash here, otherwise it leads to sneaking around and lies, or mistakes that get others hurt. I also was a paramedic for 27yrs, so I can't stop the withdrawal symptoms, but I can help with a little with IV fluids and some old medic tricks. And lastly just be brutally honest while staying here, I'm an addict myself, been clean 7yrs now, I've seen a lot, and done some shitty things in my time, I don't judge, and I'm rarely surprised by anyone's messed up past. So hit me up on my channel if you're in the area, either way, stay safe out there, I see you!
      ✌💚

    Awesome reaction. He tells the very uncomfortable truths about generational abuse in all its forms. He does the same with his money games series, no one wants to hear about it then they get forced to think about their own situations. He is independent and can call out the scum because they don't control him or pay him like 95% of all the artists out there.

    • @sunshynff
      @sunshynff 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well no one should be "forced" to think about such situations, if the story Ren is telling, is someone's "own" situation. Ren fans need to do better when suggesting this trilogy, not saying you requested it, but if you do for other reactors, please issue a trigger warning. I've seen more than one reactor have a complete breakdown during Violet's Tale when Stevie is yelling at Violet. When people talk about a message like the one in this song, needing to be seen, and forcing people not to ignore it, they mean society in general, or the politicians and leaders who are responsible for society being in such a deplorable condition, it doesn't mean forcing people on an individual basis. We can issue a trigger warning in such a way that doesn't spoil the ending, at all, I think that is why some are hesitant to do so, because the "OOOHHH Crap!!" moment at the end is wild, and people enjoy watching others have that revelation, myself included.
      Also, almost all artists are Independent, the only way an artist is considered a "signed artist", is if they're record label is one of the big 3...Sony, Warner Music, or Universal Music Group, ALL others are listed as "Indie" or Independent artist. Having a label or a manager, or a distributor doesn't mean you can't be independent. Ren released Sick Boi with two labels, both considered indie labels, "The Other Songs" was the main label and "Blended" which helped with distribution. www.theothersongs.com/
      That's not to say Ren didn't work his butt off and do everything himself in the past, and he still is heavily involved at all levels, it's just when you hit a certain level of success, anyone would need some help in order to get their music out to a growing fan base, much less someone trying to get healthy from years of undiagnosed Lyme disease, such as Ren is. Just an FYI, not trying to throw shade or be a smarty pants. Have a good week! ✌️💚

    In case you were unaware, there was some issues with the audio. The audio/video was out of sync for all three videos (in the trilogy), and there was also a moment when there was no sound at all for a few seconds at the beginning of Sceech's Tale. Hopefully knowing this will help you make the correction for future videos. The audio and video for your mic was fine.

    I don't mean to be rude or ignorant, but he's playing classical on a six string instead of a 12 and he still hitting every note and then he brings it all together with his own flavor of how to slow it down. But keep it going. If you close your eyes and you listen to mean parts of the beginning, he plays as he sings. I gave you a like because you were intrigued. I also want you to do another thing follow up. My last message was and watch it in different eyes. Not saying you need your glasses checked and you seem like a very beautiful lovely like nice lady. I'd say hey pretty lady if I saw you on the street but stop with the song already. Stop with the pop videos and then I guess I just kicked myself in the ass. New subscriber, thank you for sharing your reaction to this 🙏❤‍🩹 . One of the very best things about Ren is that he is capable of eliciting *real* emotions from the viewer. He's opened up a worldwide conversation on some *VERY* difficult subjects, and by doing so, we all discovered that we're not alone in our shared experiences. We found that we collectively held a wealth of empathy, courage, strength, and support for people from all walks of life. I can say this much: everything that you feel after a Ren song is valid, and there are Renegades willing to listen, share, and/or connect -- or just come through to LIKE and subscribe, you get to choose.
    To flip a phrase around: Healthy people heal people. The simple fact that we're all here today means we're all a part of something wonderful, and for that alone, you're appreciated 🙂
