He didn’t do this in a hospital, just in his mate’s apartment building, and they still managed to create such a beautiful film. Way too good. I can’t imagine the logistics of filming something like this. They actually filmed Violet’s tale in a bicycle storage room in the apartment complex. They bought a very small bed for the hospital sequence, and had to do many things to make the room they were shooting in look like a hospital room
He bought a hospital looking bed for the shoot and when it arrived it was a kids bed so proceeded anyway

If you listen carefully he very cleverly laid out the clues that Jenny was a lady of the night without ever actually saying the words. Ren is so clever at giving us the visuals to see it as a movie in our heads. I can’t wait for you to get to the money game trilogy. MG3 is like a 3 hour movie in a 9 minute song. I’m pretty sure they filmed the first two in Brighton streets in the middle of the night and were shouted at to be quiet 🤣

Jenny's tale, there is a person sitting on their balcony overlooking where the mugging/murder is.
It is presumed she is a street walker....makeup (Rosie on her cheeks), high heels, walked there 1000 times and wanted to escape. Was the original murder Ren read about in the paper a street walker killed by a young teen?
Screech's Tale, implied from an instagram short film of the night leading up to this murder, that perhaps Patrick and the girlfriend are both busy in the same place?
Violet's tale, Filmed at Sam's (?) appt. block. Started down in a basement room used for storing bikes. They removed the racks and set up as a hospital, with a kid's size bed (mistake!).
He gives us a warning with "...the devil comes to dance..." (Immortal Technique) that things will turn dark. Some have suggested Stevie was not the father, perhaps her dad was; hence accusing her of lying.....? I think the dad is Stevie and the lying is her pretending to be asleep. It makes sense to the story if James inherited his dad's temper.
I think the baby named Screech is just to cater to any dummies listening, even still, some people do not make the connection until it is explained to them! You did quite well. You also did not ask who Violet was as the last song started. Most people ask, then get so wrapped up in the story, they never mention it again, even if they stop countless times throughout! A testament to your self disciplined personality (well done not listening to any Ren!!!!), you are willing to just wait and find out who Violet is from the song itself.

I believe it was his mate Jake's apartment block. I think I heard Viktus say so in an interview somewhere. These are the back stairs, and the flat/front entrance are shown in Animal flow. It was Jake's car used in Murderer, and the bit in Money Game part 3 about Jimmy as a teenager was based loosely on him.

Have watched many reactions to this brilliant piece of art by Ren, and you are the first to mention the names of Jenny and Screech being named instead of Jenny and James - I guess we have to allow Ren some poetic license to interchange the names in this instance for rhyming convenience! When Stevie says 'Do you think I want to do this?' I think of the incredible Aussie documentary about family violence called 'Look what you made me do.' It hits deep how entitled some people feel to use violence and manipulation and blame others for their anger.
I read somewhere that he used Screech at the end because he was afraid that many wouldn't catch the twist if he would have said Jenny and James.

Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. Ren is special.
Anyway great reaction! Now you get to wait in eager anticipation with the rest of us, cause Ren has said that he and his cinematographer Sam have plans to film a pilot to pitch to Netflix when Ren has finished treatments in Canada. All we know is that it will be in the same raw style as this trilogy, but that is enough for me to say that if Netflix doesn’t give Ren his own show, they are fools 😂
Oh and yes, the one problem with Ren is that you want to just dive deep into the rabbit hole until you reach the bottom. Glad I’m not a reactor and have to hold back 😂 But happy it means we’re getting more Renactions whenever you’re able to film them ❤

The tales were originally released some time apart so I understand Ren chose to name the twins Jenny and Screech at the end to make the twist hit home with as many viewers as possible. Nice reaction

I agree with the "critique" of the baby being called Screech, however I reckon Ren also understood that it may slip past too many people if he didn't use the street name. Quality reaction mate.
My impression was that it was something like reverse foreshadowing in a way. Like Screech was all he was bound to become from birth. In the same way we only know Jenny as 'Jenny who walked the streets', we only know James as 'Screech the delinquent'. Also a call back to how Jenny and Screech died one street apart.

The tales started with him reading a bewspaper artcle of a 14 yr old boy killing a woman in London. He wondered what would lead a 13 yr old boy there. The rest is all Ren. There is a live 360⁰ view perfirmance of the Tales that i know you would love. Look for it.

Violets tale was filmed in an apartment building I was told.
Starting in a bike shed they moved the racks out and quickly painted it. Having bought a bed which was accidentally childs size, Ren ordered it!
They gatheted the other things needed and made a hospital ward

They knew the building and chose it for the acoustics

Fellow Aussie here [perth] and ive watched over 50 reactions to this song YOU are the first to say about the bit sounding like a football hooligan chant exactly what I thought BUT not one reactor not even KNOX noticed the 2 subtle gestures he does first Jenny see how he looked behind, and for Screech he throws his hand up in a way that is used to signal he was nothing or thrown away, of little consequence
Another thing ive not heard mentioned is how every 3rd or 4th line backs up the previous lines so you cant misunderstand what is going on, he continually reaffirms what already happened that's why I'm baffled when folks cant follow whats happening,

Jenny's Tale and Screech's Tale were written really close together but rekeased with a bit of a gap between. Violet's Tale was written and rekeased a couple of years later. :)

I've missed your reactions! I enjoy watching intelligent, thoughtful, connected reactions/reactors. You picked up on so much. The guitar did rewind time but then had to bring us back to present as well. Chaotic world yes, but bringing us to the present moment. I disagree with your one criticism only in that so many didn't make the connection to Violet being their Mum, so I think more ppl would have been lost if he said James.

Amazing, right?! I've seen/listened to this trilogy so many times and it never gets old. You should check out his Money Game trilogy. They're more loosely connected but fantastically performed and raise some important discussion topics.
with Money game 1,2 & 3 they don't have to be watched together, but I don't think anyone will complain if you do

His mates called him Screech, it’s not his birth name.
There isn’t a lot of people that notice or mention the fade out after Screech got shot either. I love that effect. It’s like his soul left the body.

In one of Ren's instagram or Twitch talks (?), he talked about his creative process as being very intuitive, like the fitting together of puzzle pieces. He said it was almost as if the lyrics, music and ideas were coming in from outside of him. He wouldn't rest until a particular "piece" of a song would "arrive" from that source and just fit right in. That, of course, is so different from the so-called "songwriting" used to make hits in the music industry, where record labels follow strict formulae and bleed the true emotion and humanity out of each word and note. Loved your reaction!

I loved your genuine reaction thank you! I think the story at the end ia being told by the Narrator’s perspective therefore that’s why he says Screech. Also Screech rhymes with streets so there’s that important fact too. But as a mom of twins I appreciate the names had the same first letter. My twins also have the same initials. Great reaction, and you definitely spotted somethings that other reactors missed, a couple of points from me, the guitar part when you said it was spiralling out of control. Was actually time winding onwards to the current in 2005, with Violet in hospital, as others have said the reason he chose to use Screach without being too stereotypical was mainly for his American listeners, as I've seen reactions where even then they struggled and some have said "well who was James then was he the farther or grandfather" lol, so he thought he needed to be a bit obvious here. Another observation most reactors miss is how dirty the soles of his socks are in the hospital bed, this is because to get this right in one take he has to do a few takes. One of which was someone shouting put to him to shut up when filming Voilets tale as this was filmed in a more populted part of 'The Lanes' shopping area in Brighton, as always Ren did let the authorities know he is filming in case anyone called the police. As others have said for the more fun side of Ren definately do some The Big Push start with either his Busking video of I Shot The Sheriff/ Road To Zion/Hip Hop or his live video of their cover of Manu Chao's Bongo Bong recorded on the roof just outside Ren's appartment (where he also recorded the start for the video of Murderer). Then Maybe tackle some of his amazing duets with the likes of Chinchilla, Eden Nash, Sam Thompkins, Liv Sangster and Bibi, they are also amazing, and true to his belief in helping other good artists, as Ren has often quoted 'a rising tide raises all ships'.
Evidence to his "rising tide" is that he let's reactors monetise their reactions. He's all about the shared experience and lifting people up. And I absolutely love him
@reachmeorteachme I never understood artists from demonetisation and who issue copyright strikes, surely reactors are potentially helping to promote your work and open your music, comedy etc to new people, who will probably buy/stream or download tour work ot watch your movie, play comedy show, it seems either a bit biting the hand that feeds you of even worse the reactors are promoting your talent and yet you are taking money from them. Ren is definitely doing the right thing here, and more creative should do the same. Another example was.how he met Sam Tompkins, Ren had finished his busking for the day and was heading home when he saw a young lad (a 16 yo Sam) trying to sing with no accompaniment or amplification but his voice was really good, Ren went up to him and said you have a good voice but you will never get people stopping and giving you money if they can't hear you, you need an amp and you should get a guitar, Sam admitted he couldn't play guitar and didn't have an amp, so Ren said I'll.set mine up for you, not only did he do that he played guitar to accompany Sam for a couple of hours and he let Sam keep all the takings, thisnis how he came to do a few duets with Sam and Sam has since learnt the guitar and has now opened for Justin Bieber in Europe and in Norway Justin had Sam duet with him. When asked about Sam's rise Ren said howmpleased he was and said it was nice to see as he imagined it would have been how his career would have gone if he had not gotten so ill, Ren had a record deal with Sony at 19 and had started recording his first album when he became ill and Sony dropped him as he was too ill to finish recording.

This was, hands down, the best reaction I've seen to this trilogy... you got SOOOO many of the little details on your first listen, even the rewinding of time with the guitar, and then the un-rewind to return to the "present day" when the song started!... Fantastic!
Ren is indeed a genius, a fantastic performer, singer, actor, songwriter, composer, etc, etc he can do it all... here are some more things for you to sink in :) :
- the way he uses his words and sets the scene for example when he could've simply say that Screeched stabbed Jenny he did it in a much more poetic way (and continues to do it in other instances in the songs, like when the Police is coming for Screech "the shrill cry of justice like a Banshee in the night"), just the same when jenny froze he says it in a fantastic manner that sets a scene in your head...
The way he used the Guitar to knock on the door in Screech's tale, the frantic video going around him while he stood still to show the state of mind Screech was in, how he used the phone in the middle of the song with pauses and all to wait for the call to connect... how he said the police were coming instead of just saying "the police are coming" is truly amazing, and how he said that Screech was going against the police without saying just the obvious words... how he alternates between characters and narrator... how he uses the guitar to fire the shots and the cameraman getting shot and falling to the floor... an amazing storyteller.
- The way he tells that history repeats itself on Violet's tale, from being abused by her father to the cycle repeating with her boyfriend that ends up killing her... the way he knocks on the door and then shows how he picks her eyelids and opens them and he's right there face first on the camera, out of focus... how he again uses the guitar to simbolize the sounds of violence when Stevie hits Violet, like a crashing pilot!
- The way he rewinds time at the start of Violet's Tale when he says "We must rewind time for Violet's Tale" and then he makes the rewind time sound with the guitar and then starts Violet's story... then after Violet gets beaten up he uses the guitar again, this time to un-rewind time and gets us back to the start of the song when you heard the sounds of the hospital machines, now we know why those sounds were there and how everything happened... it's pure genius!!!
- Also, it's inevitable to draw parallels between Jenny and Violet and Screech and Stevie (his father) and the grandfather... despite not knowing any of their relatives, Jenny was just like her mother, Violet was silent, didn't fight back when she was abused and ended up being killed... Jenny when confronted by Screech completely froze, like a statue, wasn't able to move, to say anything, to defend herself, just like her mother...
Screech was violent and troubled and ended up a murderer just like his father..
All very tragic!!
- To tie it all up, the Tales from Jenny and Screech were recorded in 2019 and Violet's Tale (was recorded later) is, because of that, set in 2005 (two zero zero five), 14 years before, because in Jenny's tale we are told that Screech was 14 years old!

I think if he went with a boy called James it would go over most peoples head. A lot of reactors dont get it that Screech killed his sister until they read the comments. I'd say he put a lot of thought into this and decided to go with Screech.
