Never noticed the James Brown explosion thing - but having seen this movie a number of times I recall the engaged couple were discussing wedding bands and curly haired guy says something along the lines of "a faux James Brown is really quite intolerable." Perhaps an easter egg?
@@PSYCHOWORLD Really? I thought The Hills Have Eyes was originally made in the 1970s by Wes Craven, while Wrong Turn series was made in the 90s/00s. Unless it also had an older original series.
@@matthewcrome5835 well, theres a “the hills have eyes” movie made in 1977 and a remake in 2006, while the first wrong turn movie was released in 2003. so the remake prob was heavily influenced to the point of ripping off the 2003 wrong turn movie.
James Brown was such a hard worker in show business that even three years before his passing he found time to book a gig in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia for a hostile audience of just a few people.
Now this guy knows how to do a retrospective on movies. His abilities should be garnering him more than 1,000 subscribers, considering the riff raff out there doing this same thing only worse. I hope he sees some pretty immediate success. He has a good voice. His accent isn't too thick. He doesn't come off as pretentious. He doesn't force any characterization of himself. He just does his commentary his way, and its good.
I still remember one of the Wrong Turn movies where the characters start off in a boat and the girls are topless. And there's always a scene where the cannibals use a very sharp string trap capable of cutting people into half in seconds
The original Wrong Turn movie was brilliant. Great plot. Great actors. I liked all of them, but there are diminishing returns. The stories got progressively worse and confused and so did the acting. Except for 4, I think they did a reasonable job of rebooting the franchise. However it dropped again after that.
I was a kid when this came out and instantly loved it. It was the first horror movie to actually give me nightmares. Well only one nightmare, but still. I know it's just a dumb slasher movie, but I still like the whole franchise. Something about the way these inbreds look and their murderous, sadistic side that's really creepy to me. The reboot seems to dissapoint quite a bit in that regard
@@BigWillChannel also PLEASE do Tucker and Dale vs Evil ! It's like an inverse of this movie that is super awesome and I think you would really enjoy it ! It deserves Oscar's imho
Maybe they put in the James Brown sound effect as an alternative to the Wilhelm scream? Maybe it will even catch on and in some decades' time we will be watching a compilation of "movies featuring the JB scream". :D
I swear on the truth as I tell you this. I watched this and a innocent Asian family with 2 young kids around the age of 5 sat right up front. As soon as the first brutal kill happened both the kids screamed so loud and the family took off asap. I bet the wife was pissed off, the husband must of took all the blame. Pretty sure they were foreigners.
This was my favorite film when I was a teenager(movie came out when I was 15). Literally for the one and only reason that I had a HUGE crush on Eliza Dushku
Mu uncle died not too long ago and I remember me and my brother watching it with him, it was pretty fun to make fun of some of the characters, and this video reminded me all about it, good video
The Wrong Turn reboot has almost nothing to do with the original, its a weird mishmash of Midsommer and The Village. It was weirdly stale, feeling somewhat as if I'd already watched it before.
I sat through this Wrong Turn ages ago just for Faith (Eliza Dushku) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was totally in love with her...still am a bit. 😂😂
Fun fact the james brown noise at 10:40 was actually used in independence day when the crop duster pilot sacrifices himself at the end to blow up the ship 🤣
The first three for me were the best ones. The one from 2021 just completely ruined what made the original film so good. Spoiler alert but they swapped out the inbred cannibals for another run of the mill ancient cult. No lol
You said scarier, when I assume you meant to say stupider.
2003 wrong turn had the best intro ever!
The 1st Wrong turn is a classic. The under the bed scene gets me everytime
It’s not really a classic if it’s just a rehash of other films like the hills have eyes and leatherface
Ufff yea that part is thrilling asf makes me feel that im in that situation lol the second one was lame
The 1st wrong turn got me into this over the top slasher horror.

this man makes horror movies 99.99% less scary.
Agreed
'Wrong Turn"(2003) is a good enough slasher-horror movie!
this channel is very underrated. people need to see more of you. great work 🙌🏻

Chris is the most overpowered horror movie character with no dying cars
This film gave me many sleepless night when I was in 6th grade. But now as I grew this film makes me just laugh.
It always made me laugh
That was Jaws for me. I was 5 when I saw it and when I watch it now, I laugh so hard.

The two who play Francine and Evan were getting cast as love interests alot back in the day, it feels like.
I think I see where the inspiration for the Swampfolk from Fallout 3: Point Lookout came from.

The james brown sound has been used in a LOT of movie explosions. Why? Idk.
I love Wrong Turn, mostly because of Eliza Dushku...
Can't believe how back the remake is. The original director said the new one is his vision, so I'm glad his vision was avoided for the first film.
Isn't it kind of a right of passage for horror movies to get worse and then have one that takes place in an artic terrain?
