At least they actually pulled the trigger. The Ray's ownership floated the idea of doing half the season here and half in Montreal and everyone stopped going to games altogether 😂 You know there's something wrong when a flirida baseball team can't sell tickets despite being a generally good team and the hickey team has been selling out for a decade. He's even more mad because no one wanted the municipal governments to give him a tax break to build a stadium
The rest of the league: we don't want to sign Trevor Bauer because of his history and baggage The A's: we don't want to sign him because he might win us games
Being an Oakland A's fan sucks rn. I have so many memories at the Coliseum (despite it desperately needing to be updated/replaced). The hardcore fans love this team more than anything despite the constant roster changes the past 20 years and now they are being treated like trash and blamed for something they have little to no control over. Ive been wanting to get my own Kelly Green jersey for months now (I just graduated college and want to get something cool for myself) but with all the ownership/dave kaval being generally shitty towards the fans I don't want to support that. On the other hand, I've been a fan my whole life, so going to ebay and finding marked up jerseys just feels wrong. Plus the new jerseys are hot garbage. TLDR; FJF
This HURTS-HURTS-HURTS!! I’ve been an A’s fan for 50 years. I grew up watching A’s games at the Coliseum. Then I drove 400 miles one-way from LA just to attend A’s games after moving and living there for over 20 years. I raised my kids to be A’s fans, despite living in LA. My oldest was proposed to on the field at the Coliseum. Fast forward to 2019, we moved to West Sacramento to be closer to the grandkids. I drive by Sutter Health Field on my way to work every weekday and now it’s like salt in the wound on a daily basis. So, right now, I’m a super, super NOT HAPPY person.
I have no doubt that at some point half the managers have called down to the bullpen and said “warm John Doe up” only to hear “um he is not with the team right now”
This is so incredibly JUICY, Trevor. That beginning was a whirlwind. "The void" was glorious. You do all your own video editing too right? Maybe I made that part up. Good video antics like always!!
Best part of moving to Vegas is that expansion teams do great (Golden Knights, Aces) there while relocation teams are garbage (Raiders). Good to see that streak will continue!
This is an absolute disgrace and embarrassment to the game of baseball not just from Oakland ownership but from the MLB Commissioner in its lack of effort in the situation. Even as someone who lives on the opposite coast and no relation to Oakland this makes me ashamed to even watch Major League Baseball… what a scam
Sour cream donuts? Actually pretty good. I read an article that said that the field will be used practically every day of the season. Can you imagine what shape it will be in at the end of the year.
The Athletics inspired Aaron Sorkin to write the line “How can you not be romantic about baseball?”, but they have an owner that isn’t romantic about it in the slightest.
I drove from Spokane to Oakland for Opening Weekend to finish off my personal grieving, and I gotta say it was f%cking depressing. The Coliseum was empty, the vendors closed, the parking lot barren, I mean hell the deep fried cheeseburger stand in right field was gone. Sports fans love to trash Oakland and A's fans for the state of the club, but true baseball fans know that Fisher is the worst owner in pro sports and degrades the game of baseball every day he remains in control of a franchise with a rich history. Hopefully Sacramento won't get proper F'd like Oakland. Vegas you'll learn quickly that your nice new shiny stadium won't bring you joy, nor a winning season until Fisher is gone
As a lifelong Oakland A's fan who lives in Sacramento. How the hell am I supposed to feel about this? I would love for Sacramento to get a permanent baseball team (Preferably and expansion team). But I love the Oakland A's and my greatest wish is for them to stay in Oakland where they belong. Do I go to the games for the team that I love that is now in my backyard? Do I protest and stay away for the sake of the city of Oakland? Do I hate this because it gives Vegas an opportunity to get their ducks in a line for the move? Do I like this because it allows time for Oakland to to do the same? HELP!!!!! Sincerely, Confused in Sactown.
Trevor, my wife and I were just talking about this yesterday. As a A’s fan since I was kid( I’m 58 now) I’ve supported the good and BAD teams. This has been the hardest couple of years. Here’s our question, are you a “true fan” of this team if you choose to not follow them? My heart can only be broken so many times. Love your insights to a game I truly love. By the way where can I get one of those sweet hats? Size 7 and 3/8.
I know I’m not Trevor, but I’ve stopped supporting the organization, while every once in a while rooting the team on during the games. Old habits die hard I guess. I just can’t give the team any more of my money knowing it is going to billionaires who never cared about us, and have even disrespected us to turn us off. So I’ll cheer on the players from afar for at least this last season
For a guy who was signed to the A’s, I’m impressed you still have a sense of humor. Was their plan before your injury to trade you at the deadline for prospects? Do they tell you this when they sign them? I’m just curious since we never got to see it pan out.
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been in Oakland Athletics fan since 1971 when I went to my first game watching Vida blue pitch. The memories I have of the different eras are unforgettable; your video makes me realize her many others who feel as angry as I do and as sad as I do that this wonderful historic franchises is leaving
If the A’s owner’s suite contains sour cream donuts, you nay need an XXL denim jacket to smuggle them out. If you’re wearing a yellow wristband to go with that lemon glaze and are seen by the owner, you may need the denim jacket to protect yourself from getting pelted by sour cream donuts. At least that’s what the memo from above said. Either way we’re sure you’ll make the adjustment and be back here at 6am. Great video!
I’m a 22 year Oakland A’s fan. I ran the bases as a kid and was a season ticket holder during 2 separate years. To be honest they’re dead to me in 10 years when none of the players on the team have played in Oakland I will be completely disconnected from the team.
We need a take on these closers this year. I just watched 4 guys walked in the ninth for a walkoff walk in the Brewers vs Mariners. You’re a Mariner fan, you likely watched. What is happening. LeClerc with the Rangers is a great guy to bring in if you want to guarantee the winning run will be brought to the plate. 8 run lead, no worries, he will give up 4 and load the bases. Maybe it is early season rustiness, but honestly I just feel like we have a shortage of good closers. I think it is time to suit up, the league needs your arm.
I wonder how fans in Kansas City and Philadelphia felt when the franchise left those cities. Having lived in South Florida and watching the Marlins for nearly 20 years I’m of the opinion that the revenue sharing system attracts ownership groups in small markets that are happy to milk the system and survive on corporate welfare while keeping their expenses down. Fans deserve better than gapping for a .500 record each season.
After watching the full video, I can barely name 3 players on the team and i've been a fan since i was born. I turn 40 in May 2024. I'm no longer going to be a fan after this season. Albeit, we as fans know its not the players fault, they made the team and will work since its a paycheck and realizing their dream to be in the Majors. But at the end of the day, the level of pettiness a billionaire can have with the common fan is absurd. I believe Kaval is a victim in this too. His energy has been stolen from him and being held hostage. He is too afraid to leave and he is too scared to speak up. To say he is being paid alot of money to be the fall guy is an understatement. To even brag about being top 10 in payroll as he has in previously years with a new stadium, its another laughable situation as a whole. Based on spotrac, for 2024. Athletics payroll is $47.2 million - a little under 30 million less than the next team ahead of them, the pirates. To crack the top 10 - they would have to increase payroll, 141 million. If they could do that, they should have been doing that all along. So for those who like commas like I do. $47,275,000 - 2024 athletics payroll (Last - 30th) $72,014,000 - 2024 pirates payroll (29th) $187,979,909 - 2024 Giants Payroll (10th) +$140,725,000 - The amount of money Athletics would have to add to be in 10th place. And to add one more in there, +$70,000,000 - California Sports Net TV Rights Deal to the Athletics. Guess that explains why the team has shown profit (save 2020) every year for the last 20+ years. A billion-dollar franchise with over 100 years of history, ran like a corner store on 45th street in oakland. At least the corner store has Tahitian treat.
I watched Secret Base's docuseries on the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Jerry Burns couldn't remember guys names, so he just called them all Big Nuts. However, Vikings players really liked him despite that.

The thing I’m most shocked about in all this is Sacramento is north of SF/OAK!? My mental image of the CA cities placed SF/OAK more north, Sacramento in the middle and east, LA just below them but on the coast, and SD more north than it is compared to the border. Wow.
Any meanies out there that want to be mean, if you’ve ever said Kansas City is in Kansas, you’re not wrong but you also aren’t fully correct because it’s in Missouri too, literally on the other side of State Line Rd. so why don’t you look at a map sometime.
congrats on getting a greenscreen, this is a big life occassion and I'm very happy for you :) edit: oh damn i didn't wait til the end for the baked good words, i was just so hyped on the greenscreen (UNDERSTANDABLY SO)
Sacramento isn't part of the Bay Area. It's a separate metro area and a separate media market (3rd-largest in California in both cases, so actually a bigger market than the Padres have). It'd be hilarious if they just ended up staying there because Vegas and SLC both got tired of Fisher's shit.
Sour Cream Donuts. Good video. This is an excellent overview of how baseball is, and always be, a business first, and a sport second. The idea that tanking isn't allowed in baseball is hilarious - half the teams do it all the time as soon as they realise they aren't in the hunt for playoffs they sell off their best players. I feel really sorry for the Oakland fans
I was wondering what Donruss baseball cards will have on them for the Athletics if they aren't known as Oakland anymore. Donruss always has "Oakland baseball club" on cards.
Sour Cream Donuts. Thanks for this video, Trevor. Made me smile and laugh which hasn't been all that easy with what's going on lately with the A's. I personally won't be attending any games they play in Sacramento even though that's where I reside. The work of the ownership group is tiring and I wish there was commissioner that actually cared about baseball.
I don’t think this would ever happen, but what if the As players decided not to play in order to protest relocation? It would definitely be a sacrifice for them.
Sour cream donut?! The damn hell is that?!? :::runs to Google:::: :::runs back::: well... they LOOK normal, and I'd absolutely try them... and maybe have but didn't know it, haha.
Thank you for the cookie recipe a few days ago! I really don't understand how Fisher and co. are planning to make this transition work. Vegas doesn't want the team and doesn't really have a sustainable fanbase even if people did decide to come. Like you said, I really don't know how many free agents are going to wanna come to a team that's doing this song and dance either. It just feels very forced and I truly think no one wins.
Loving your videos. Thank you for supporting A’s fans. As someone who is not a crier, I balled all day yesterday. This whole thing is just gross and embarrassing to baseball. I hope more people start standing and being vocal
Trevor - How many AAA games are there are year? Are there concerns over possible field conditions since it will host an additional 80+ MLB games? Live in Minnesota but the A's are my hometown team, keep up the great content.
Mariners fan here. F'ing hate whats going on in Oakland and I feel terrible for the fans there. Also sour cream doughnuts??? Not my fav but glad you love them.
I wish I could eat sour cream donuts. I can't unfortunately. The best donuts I've ever had were in Maine at a place called Congdon Doughnuts. They're made with potato flour. So tender.
Trevor, could you talk about the MLBPA side of it please? I know they wouldn’t be able to stop a move but certainly they could object to the new stadium conditions and things like that right?
Now, I get that Fisher probably means he's excited to see the Yankees come to Sacramento and play the A's there, but that doesn't make it better. It just means he's jettisoned anyone remotely marketable from the A's.
“John Fisher will do whatever is slightly below the minimum” wow that is hilarious and incredibly accurate.
all manfred's fault for letting this happen.
MLB has failed the A’s. Hate what fisher has done to my once great franchise
As a Montreal Expos fan, I feel your pain and am rooting for you guys to somehow find a way to keep the A's
At least they actually pulled the trigger. The Ray's ownership floated the idea of doing half the season here and half in Montreal and everyone stopped going to games altogether 😂
You know there's something wrong when a flirida baseball team can't sell tickets despite being a generally good team and the hickey team has been selling out for a decade.

that was always my thought lmao. the other baseball movie worked, why not major league 😂
Glad to see you having fun with and putting the new green screen to such good use. Bravo good sir, bravo.

Glad to see someone else understands this too, Vegas doesn’t care about teams unless they start there
I mean, if I was a fan living there, I wouldn't want Oakland's (or any city's) sloppy seconds
I do see and agree with your point in principle... but it's worth noting the WNBA Aces were formerly the San Antonio Silver Stars.
Trevor is having wayyyyy too much fun with that new green screen. I love it

This is actually way more entertaining that the other baseball talk shows/podcasts/news where its just baseball heads sitting and chatting!
My only thoughts are thanks for sticking up for us T May. This is why you're never paying for drinks in Oakland again. We love you out here big dog!

Spot on. Same boat for the Pirates. Really hurts year in and year out. Fans know what is going on and nothing is done about it.
The MoneyBall riff was precious
Greatest 2 minute start ever. Give a green screen to a man who loves baseball but hates management, this is what we get. Fantastic. 👏👏👏

@@TrevorMayBaseball Glad to help dude. Shit time for us A's fans, appreciate you keeping us in your thoughts and on your channel.
Thanks, Trevor, these videos are hilarious and therapeutic for this suffering A's fan.
Where do we get one of those hats though?
Respect for wearing it re: the 2014 season.
As a Bay Area native. Sac DEFINITELY is not part of the Bay
Sour cream donuts… never heard of those
Oh, I know that haha, I’m talking more of a “tv territory” way, meaning tv rights are more transferable than to say, Salt Lake.
@@TrevorMayBaseball haha important distinction to us Bay Area kids. Sac is dope but they are definitely a different vibe than the bay

God bless Trevor May and his magical Green Screen of truth. Amen.
This situation with the Athletics is inarguable proof of Rob Manfried's incompetence.

Just waiting for the Rays to move too sadly
The MLBPA needs to stand up for its members and veto this move. This is unacceptable.

Trevor - How many AAA games are there are year? Are there concerns over possible field conditions since it will host an additional 80+ MLB games?
Live in Minnesota but the A's are my hometown team, keep up the great content.
"Mmm...sour cream donuts."
- Homer Simpson maybe, but actually probably not
I’m wearing my Rooted In Oakland sweatshirt BUT I’m putting a piece of tape with a handwritten ‘NOT SO’ in front of it 💚💛😂
Mariners fan here. F'ing hate whats going on in Oakland and I feel terrible for the fans there. Also sour cream doughnuts??? Not my fav but glad you love them.
Old fashioned donuts! They’re awesome!
@@TrevorMayBaseball you should try to get an expansion Oakland team and partner with other possible owners
Sour cream donuts? Next baked good better be lemon cheesecake or we’re sending you back to Oakland 😅
Trevor May has amazing eyebrows
Love the hat.
They will, when the plan is available to look at. You can count on that
I for one am excited to cheer for the Athletic Sacs
Lovin' your channel. Not so fond of the sour cream donuts though...
Eric Chavez is the biggest contract A’s has paid out.
John fisher needs a tennis racket
Now, I get that Fisher probably means he's excited to see the Yankees come to Sacramento and play the A's there, but that doesn't make it better. It just means he's jettisoned anyone remotely marketable from the A's.
Hilarious content bro
