I love that Senku is not that kind of character that has sexy brain but no emotions or too crazy to care about the people around him. He’s a genius but also just a normal human being with strengths and weaknesses.
He's also really unique in fiction as he doesn't do science for sciences sake, or for evil, or even really direct personal gain.
He understands the fundamental truth that science is here to make everyone's lives better, more interesting, more fun, and that to get there will take all of us.
Righttt like I didn’t think he’d cry tbh, but I love that he did
If anything, Senku's usual tendency to act aloof makes moments like these hit even harder. His voice actor does a really good job. Spoilers for the Season 2 finale under the cut.
Especially during Tsukasa's "death".
He's not even a genius, really. He got as smart as he did purely through hard work and perseverance. Senku is truly the GOAT. :)

When he started to cry, I did too! I mean he barely showed much emotions even though his father died long ago and basically everyone on earth was stoned, so to see him cry like that just really hit home...

The first time it has truly hit that the only family he had is gone... He may be logical, but he is stil a human being, and his dad took him in and raised him as his own, supported his scientific interests and sacrificed for him so he could pursue that which he loved most.
And this is the first time he comes face to face with that. Amidst all the science, the building, the crafting, there is a boy that lost his dad.

This scene is already sad, but the harder I think it gets even sadder.
Like, Senku wants to save literally everyone on earth as a more arbitrary goal, but to know that just a measly 1 person he can't save of all those billions... is his own father.... It's not even like "oh maybe he can still be saved" no. he cant. and it hurts.
They lived 3700 years apart, but still working towards the same goal in some sort of synergy, but they will never NEVER be able to do it together in the same place at the same time

I cried even without knowing what happened to his dad and their relationship in the ED it was just so heartwarming,, and somewhat painful to see a little senku missing his dad, up in the sky and stars, while the opening opens with this adorable father-son scene.. and the senku we watched, the senku we know, cocky, bratty, not very sentimental boy, holding hands with his father, and gazing at the stars with him, My heart just aches for them especially with senku now crying because he misses him and will never see him again is just.. so so painful even now I most def cry at the ED everytime.. The song that accompanies it as well is just too much for my heart. Senku loved his dad and Byakuya loved him right back from the bottom of his heart. I adore Senku honestly. hes very unique and for being a Genius, I never get tired if watching him.
i love how Senku and Gen have more of an antagonist look and personalities, still they both are good guys, and one is the protagonist, they could've chosen Taiju or Chrom to be the protagonists but Senku is so different from that type of protagonist that he fits more than well.

I just got a feeling he's really sad. Like fucking sad. But hes hiding it. He seems fake sometimes. Maybe because he want to be strong figure for everyone. Luckily, he loves science. So that he has something omoshiroi to forget his sadness.
He just very strong duh. Just imagine living alone without his mom. His dad went to space since he's in high school. Living alone everyday and woke up alone in stone world. Then knowing his dad died. That's lots of shit he's taking bruh. If normal people like us were in his place. We literally would BROKE. LIKE SHIT THAT SO PAIN BRUH.

I have to agree with senku hiding it, even in this scene based off of his shaky breathing, and the way he flinches before he sheds a year it looks like he's holding himself back
I think it was just Senku and Byakuya. He never once mentioned or even hinted he had a wife

I realized something. All this time Senku thought that his dad was in a stone. So by building back the human civilization, he could also depetrify his dad and get him back. But from the message he got to know that his dad died and there was no hope for getting him back for the first time. I am glad to see that he didn't step back from his goal to bring back civilization after this.

Yeah, it's like he allowed himself this one time, this one tear🥺 We see him with a soft/sad expression sometimes (especially when it's about his dad) but he never cries again.
I love how this shows he truly cared for his dad they may not have been related by blood but he still took him in and raised him as his own.

I always felt emotional whenever I looked at this scene in 0:32. I can't really explain why but it's quite emotional to me. It felt as if his father is very close to him yet so far away
I just saw this ep yesterday night and I cried so hard seeing him like that he just laugh it off if something Difficult came, he is trying to suppress his emotions by laughing 😭🥲 poor boy loss his Dada. I really love this boy he's Soft hearted with Super Smart Brain 💝🤌
It's also sad that his father's gravestone was unmarked because writing was lost after the stone world began

He may be ideally logical but he is a 'person' he isn't a AI created just to rebuild civilization....and neither is he a heartless person or something like a sociopath or psychopath...he is just a highly intelligent person who feels remorse,sympathy sadness etc like all humans do intelligent or not..he's on a mission and may be keeping his feelings at bay...I had thought of a theory where he's schizotypal but that's not true after this scene..

Pretty simple. Deep down senku is a really good person. Despite his look or attitude about things. in the very first episode you can see he cares about his friends and has a deep level of respect and understanding for them, for example he knew taiju wouldnt use a "love potion" he was just illustrating a point about his friends character . Almost everything senku does is for his friends like trying to let chrome win the tournament so he could marry ruri or letting taiju pick the first person to be saved from petrification but acting like neither of these acts meant anything to him. I think all of those things made him emotional in a sense.

Is it just me? I don't understand. How come his father's grave is in Japan when I thought he died in the treasure island because it is where their spaceship landed. I remember reading in the manga that they told their descendants to make their way to japan which means that they weren't able to go in there. Did the manga mentioned that their descendants brought their graves with them back to Japan? Or this is some kind of plot hole? 😅
I think the same, m abit confused too, they should be at treasure Island, where they actually landed, it's the other descendents who made the ishigami village who went on search of more land. How come graves could move. Will need to wait to see the anime

I like his dub catchphrase better GET EXCITED seems better than THIS IS EXHILARATING and I think for the first time in a long while the dub voice actors seem better doing the role than the sub voice actors while you can tell the sub voice actors sound like adults the dub voice actors sound more like high schoolers
