    Update. Great amp however kicker is not transparent about the highpass subsonic integration. It does not accept input signal if you have a stock amplified sound system. Meaning if the radio sends a signal to an external amplifier which then powers the speakers. Will distort badly. An aftermarket setup will fix that issue.

      We bought the amp dyno after the CX600 was discontinued, but yes the amp will make at least rated power at the CEA specs (the industry standard), if not more. In this case, that means at least 600 watts at 2 ohms with 14.4 volts of battery power.

      @@ericvillano5729 The dyno has a calibration process built into it to measure THD and clipping, plus you are measuring a single burst at (I believe) 40 hz with that test.
      A simpler test would be to grab a volt meter and use ohms law to calculate it on oyur amp. Just be sure to use a test tone. It wont be as accurate, but you can get a ballpark.

    • @brandonweigel6309
      @brandonweigel6309 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to realize that in your application, you aren't maintaining proper voltage, not to mention you are using a reactive load (subwoofers) along with music (most likely). It's quite unlikely you are going to see 600RMS. However, that is NOT to say your amp isn't capable of rated power. I'd be more than willing to bet that it is underrated like most Kicker amps and if voltage were able to be maintained, the load was a resistive 2 ohm, and a test time used, it'd easily surpass it's rated output.
      As for measuring your amp's output as Kicker recommended, you'd need to be sure your DMM can accurately measure the frequency used and that the output being measured isn't clipping. If not, then the measurement was pointless.
      Also, you'd need/want a load on the amp, but playing test tones at moderate to high volume levels is VERY HARSH on the equipment and could cause damage.
      Oh, and even if you were to just play a 40Hz test time with the system wired up and measure the output, you won't know what impedance the amp is seeing without using a clamp meter, O-scope, or similar tool to check.
      In the end, you either have faith in the companies track record for solid amplifiers or go out and get the needed equipment to properly test the amp, but if doing the later, well, you just as well buy a "better" amp and save yourself the trouble of testing only to find out that A, the amp is capable of rated power under proper conditions and B, in real world usage, you aren't likely to see rated output but once in a blue moon.

    • @KICKER-AUDIO

      Peak power is technically double RMS. That's all it ever was. RMS is a lot more important of a number to pay attention to. Those huge numbers you see are (if they are even real) under perfect circumstances, and they are made for just a moment. This is what products like the "amp dyno" are designed to do: give you the max power an amp can make - it is measured for just a few tenths of a second. You don't play your system for a few tenths of a second. You play it for hours at a time. Kicker tests their gear for DAYS at a time, under real world conditions. Our gear always makes promised power or more and its arguably the most flexible, reliable product in the industry. That's what we care about.

    I was looking at new Kicker amps. Because I already have a Kicker system with amps, and speakers. But I wanted a bigger amp. And I ran across this on your site. But it says it's only a 1 channel amp. So why does this amp have 2 sets of speaker terminals. I mean it's setup like a 2 channel amp to me. And if it is able to be used as a 2 channel amp. What is the RMS, and peak power when using this amp at 1ohm, 2ohm, and 4ohm while running it 2 channel.

      @@KICKER-AUDIO Don't see the point. How does having 2 positive, and 2 negative hookups make running anything easier? Regardless, people will only be connecting their sub to one set. And the other two will not be used. That design would only confuse people into thinking they can run more than one sub from the terminal. without running them in series. But thinks for the quick reply. Guess I'll go with the KXA400.2

      @@Mr_Ruhl apparently my conversation went over your head. I know you can run more than one sub, off a mono amp. But you wire then in in either series or parallel. Which both only require one positive, and one negative terminals. You can't wire 2 or more subs direct to a mono amp. So there is no need for 2 sets of negative, and positive terminals on a mono load amp.

    • @Mr_Ruhl
      @Mr_Ruhl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alenwarren9252 No, it didn't go over my head. It gives more options for different installs. If you hook up each voice coil to each -\+ on the amp you'll be wiring the coils in parallel with each other.
      Say you have woofers on either side of the car, much easier to run the wires to the amplifier instead of all the way across the car to get the two on the same channel.
      If people are "confused"about something this simple they probably should be having it installed by a professional.

Low level inputs are almost completely useless atm on the new models. I've had several installs where I had to hook up high level inputs in order to get any kind of sound out of your amps. And this applies to all the models up to the new 800.1. Shame too, I sold upwards of 50+ of your amps from my location alone last year. Now I'm having to resort to selling other brands I have in stock until you guys correct this. You just can't hit those numbers with a 4v or 5v low level input signal while running a 4 or 2 ohm load. The low level input + 1ohm load output was decent, but still below last year's models.
