Why show the 800w number on the box at all?
Why not call it a 400 or 500w RMS amp only and lose the misleading max rating?
Lol this is for the new people to the bass life, that max power means nothing..
But the KXA does over power not so much for the CXA
I agree on the max number but they do put RMS values right underneath it. Folks educating themselves before buying gear is also a factor. Simple google search will tell you not to go by max ratings.

It says 800W on the box because the CXA line is sold in Best Buy (and similar) along side other brands that post "Peak" or "Max" ratings. Also in those stores, you frequently have no sales support staff, meaning the uneducated customer just grabs whatever box has the highest number off the shelf. But the box clearly says 400W RMS below the peak number, and actually did almost 600W RMS. That's a win by any measure.
I bought this amp not expecting anything close to 800, and i don't care cuz this amp does its job, and it sounds amazing!
I’m putting mine on a single PowerBass 8 at 4 ohms. Sub is rated for 125 rms and 250 max. Should be a good match.
The shop who sold it as an 800W is at fault here. I also agree they should not put 800W on the box either though...Max is such a subjective number, no need for it. Kicker does extremely tough testing with their amps and they are designed to last for many years. I just uploaded a video of a 25yr old Kicker X50s amp which still makes rated power and has never been repaired or upgraded

What world are we living in that doesn't place the blame in the right place WTF!!! we have Big D and Facekicker, two min on the internet and thy would have known max power is just irrelevant!

I agree with you @Facekicker most people starting in car audio would be fooled by the box. Kicker is a great company that make solid products no need to play these games. Remove max power
I also believe the shop is at fault ultimately. But kicker which is an awesome company anyway doesn’t need to show off max ratings. They have nothing to prove at all. I myself run two 12” L7q’s. An they take a Cab45 like a Champ!
I just got this exact amp today .. all i want is my music LOUDER ,.. is this going to do the job . Best Buy is installing it for me . All i care about is loud music .
3weeks later how's it sounding it's broken In subs getting loose
@@bryanCLXT so turns out i got the wrong amp apparently they asked about a subwoofer & of course i was lost lol . All they did was change the speakers clearer music but not louder so not much of a difference . I went in to another store with someone with knowledge so I’m going back to get all that installed soon.

Bought this amp and a Punch P3 Shallow 12". Going to run it at 1 Ohm and it should bump. The subs rated at 400watts RMS/800 max so it pairs with this amp really well. Installing this weekend
I just have got back to being a kicker fan they always do more than rated,I don't pay attention to max power rates, kicker,mtx,fosgate, have always been over built, underated, reliable, great sounding amps, just learn how to read the ratings correctly.

I have a kicker cxa800. It was tested on another channel and put down over 1000 watts.
Cuz it's an 800w cxa.800 they put it on the face of there amps
I just installed this 400 watt amp and I can say it is legit, plus I have a epicenter sending in 5 volts to the amp so I only have the gain at about 10oclock. Subwoofer is polk mm104DVC in a transmission port box, the seat vibrates, and keep in mind, that's about 1/3 what the amp can do.
I mean it’s called the 400.1 your customer should of not thought it was 800 continuous. They make it pretty clear on front and rear of box giving the rms ratings. The other amps that only put max on the box that are 5 times or more the true rating are the real issue.
This is a nice amp to collect note A person could make a big system out of this mini amps like this. A GREAT BUDGET BUILD TO MAKE.
This little Amp is great
Everyone knows that you don't go off of max ratings. As a shop they should be informing their customers of this as well and I put more blame on the shady nature of the shop over someone not being able to easily read the front of the box as it clearly states 400 rms right on the front of the box. Yes putting max ratings front and center is an attention getting tactic for big box stores when people are looking at a wall of amps.
I just purchased a 600w L7R 12” and this amp, hopefully I didn’t screw myself here, will this combo work??
I bought this amp because its rms rating at 2ohms matched my sub rms rating. Max ratings were not my target for this amp.
Well doing the math, my sheet reads 488, so therefore I am looking at 366 at 2 ohms👍🏻, right where I wanted to be based on recommendations for my sub👍🏻

It will do over the 400 rms wattage and most likely the 486 or above. I have the prior model cx600.1 I think it does the 600 no problem
I hate the MAX number rating it's so fake. At least kicker made rated RMS though. And then some. Tiny amp makes good power. I have no doubt it'd sound good too. As long as the RMS is on the box that's all that matters. The customer should get some knowledge of amplifiers before buying. And it is great performing amp for the RMS power is rated

The DX and CXA line are the entry and mid level products- that type of customer is looking for max power ratings - hence why they do that .. if they knew to look for rms then the marketing employees are not doing their job 😊

Also max ratings are not route mean squared - so anything that does said rms you take that power and multiply by .707 and you’ll get the “float of peak” meaning what the amp does at the peak of the rail ... not an average nor real power by any means .. that is why we use rms.. that is why you have the amp dyno🤙🏼

I like the channel, but your client should be able to read from the box thats why they have the cetified rating as an standard, so people can read it, the max power is rating that can be missleading but it does not mean is wrong it is just not an standard, the criteria may vary. So unless he was blind or analphabet he had all the information on the box front and rear, the only one to blame here is the store seller and himself. The amp does all the cetified raitings on the box, the max one you can not test cause you do not the the creteria to do it, the Dyno just do certified, uncertified and dynamic cause those are the standard in the industry, the max is not an indutry standard so you cannot test it, and it means nothing.

Kicker has been around for a long time.
I got a CXA400.1 factory recertified for 100 bucks a couple years ago and it made 700W @ 1 Ohm before clipping and have beat the crap out of it pushing a Kicker CompR 10" with dual 2 ohm voice coils wired parallel since without a single issue. Doesn't even get hot. Can't beat that.

I don’t find anything misleading about the sells pitch. The max number is a possibility not probable. Maybe if the max meaning is double on two subs. Regardless, most folks know that max number is not what you go off. You should know you not going to get that much bang for your buck.
It's called a cxa400.1.. 400rms at 1 ohm clearly states that on the box

@@Facekicker I have a cxa800.1 and on the box it says 1600 watts max. I agree that it should not say that but not once did I think it was a 1600 watt amp. I knew it was 800 rms @1ohm. shop is at fault for over glorifying the amp and the customer should do his research before randomly buying audio equipment.

I had two of these on 2 l7s 12s I know underpowered but whatever one of my amps went bad so now I’m using one of them @.05 it doesn’t shut off and it sounds the same as having both amps hooked up not loud but will do until I get the 1800. To run it at 2 ohms

I used to love the zx amps before 2010. They were only 2 ohm stable though. After 2010 I lost love for kicker. It seemed like they became too Chinese

@@Facekicker that was because they stated their sub could run that rms power. Exo and EMF tested it. It did not do rms power.
Kicker state right on the any it's rms. They also provide a birth sheet that meets the stated power.
You blasted it for not doing max power. If people are too dumb so read the box, and the salesman also passes it along as such they need training.

Maybe read the box before you buy it. They didn't hide the rms rating. You shouldn't be doing an install if you do not know to at least look for that.
My shop didn't do install - client brought another shops install to us. But the box says 800w.

I assume the reason they advertise this bullshit rating is to compete with the garbage brands and their ratings. I agree, no need for kicker or any quality brand to do this. Personally I think kicker makes very good amplifiers. Subwoofers also. And usually much less expensive than comparable others like Fosgate or JL audio. Thinking of trying out one of the kicker KXA series amps.

This practice is utilised in marketing across a whole range of products. Not just audio. You know that. I don't understand making this video and not mentioning it being common practice across all brands.... Is that not the main issue?

@@chuckholmes2075 because for people who know what they're doing, the max power rating doesn't matter. But there's a good chunk of people who just look at the big number on the box, and the price. Now that the market is changing and people are getting more educated they can remove the max power rating without losing a giant chunk of money. Fosgate, JL, and Audio control could get away with it because their stuff is expensive enough that the market of watts/dollar doesn't apply to them in the first place

Kicker in my book was always a "RUNNER UP" company. right now I've got 4 DD-Z (Series 2) 10's on 2 RF T2500-1's at 1 Ohm each. they're consistently putting out about 3800 to 4200 watts each. The customer was a new customer, and trusted the shops word. It's not his fault, he went to the only resource he had and they mislead him.
Think of a doctor trusting his cars auto mechanic who tells him he needs a coolant flush when he doesn't. Would that make the doctor a stupid person? People trust professionals to know better than themselves when it's not their own specialty, and some business models take advantage of that.
In this case the shop could have been outright honest and taught the customer something - they chose to make a sale instead.

Kicker equipment was never REALLY what i called under rating themselves.
They are a average company.
Mtx. Rockford fosgate....give more power than advertising.. Kicker is the low end of both... Same with J/L audio. High end price with mediocre results.
They put max to get ppl to buy it... And it works..
The certified was 544. It exceeded rated power by about 30% any more than that, and you'll start blowing subs by accidentally over powering them

Well us knowing knowing..we can put a 300 watt true rms.. On 60 watt speakers and be fine.. And while putting a 300 watt rms on 60 watt rms Speakers our thd goes down.. And cleans it up.. Get what im saying..in this aspect?.. We can drop the sensitivity..or gain..

It clearly states the rms wattage. They aren't playing any games. I see people buy amps left and right that don't even make the stupid companies rms wattage let alone the max i their box. How much power does it take to make 513 watts rms? Yes kicker doesn't need to do the whole max. No one cares about that number. But they totally beat the rms wattage stated on the box. How much power does it take to make 512 watts rms?😊

In this day and age of information, if you still using that excuse but give companies like maxxsonics, audiopipe, Rockville etc passes and they very often don't even make their rms ratings let alone any max numbers they are advertising then that just bias. 1.At the end of the day the splitter did more than "real" rms rating. 2. It features hi level input capable of up to 40v for oem system integration on these newer vehicles that have crazy hi voltage or amplified systems. May not be important to the bassheads driving old cars or trucks but integrating into these newer vehicles you need more than just a mega watts $150 amplifiers this market is flooded with. I take more into an amplifiers worth than just numbers and kicker makes a solid product and even their entry level line offers features to easily integrate then into modern vehicles than your fine a dozen cloned cheap amplifiers. Hi level into one of the cheap fine a dozen amplifier lines and use signal sensing for amp turn on and guess what happens when that vehicle engines shuts down at the light? Kicker had stop start feature for that. Eggs if the day they are not trying to compete against Skar, sundown, or any other diy mega watt for cheap amp. They do actually try to advance tech and bring products out that are new and innovative. Either way it's not for all since so many people here are focusing on the"max" printed on the box when they clearly give you a birth sheet with the rms ratings. But as soon as other companies do this and fail to even meet rms rating everyone like " week it's still not bag for the price blah b blah. And give then a pass because at the end of the day everyone want everything for cheap. I agree though they should get rid of any max eating on their packaging. They don't need it. Steve Irby built a great company that has outlasted a majority of the "greats". And they are probably going to Outlast allot of these cookie cutters also.
