I had that fireplace in the 70's, we put it up at Christmas and made a nativity set from Barbie dolls. we used it for many years.

I had a great picking day Sunday. My neighbor put out a redwood glider. We walked down to get it and my other neighbor had a metal Coleman cooler in the trash pile. They are used to me picking up goodies. Then I found 2 dressers along the road for 10 dollars each. I redo furniture for a shop and was so excited.
You forgot to mention the 28 cents.

The song "Laughing" is by The Guess Who. I was surprised you knew songs by the Grass Roots, but then my adult kids know a lot of the old rock & roll songs too. You will have so much fun decorating around the old fireplace next Christmas with all your vintage finds. Nice free stuff today!

My Parents had a fireplace, when I was little, My Parents threw it away when we moved to Illinous back in 1974, we stayed there 1 yr then moved back to Indiana.,.we always had the fireplace plugged in and glowing...stockings hung up and Nativity scene on top.....

Have to love a gal that gets so excited over a cardboard fireplace and curbside trash.
When my girlfriend and me first got together she saw this imitation fiberglass fireplace at an auction and was about excited as you over it, have to confess I didn’t quite get it.
I pointed out it wouldn’t fit in my little sub compact car ( which I bring so I don’t buy a lot ). She pointed out I can drive back home and get my truck.
Ok
Got the fireplace and had to pay an amazing $40!
Get it back to her house then I made the mistake of telling her we had one like that when I was kid and it had imitation logs you plugged in and looked like flames.
Took me 4 months of looking and asking around to find one and it set me back $50 !
My elementary school teachers (1970s) always had those cardboard fireplaces to put up as part of classroom Christmas decorations.
I totally remember teachers doing that in the classrooms in the 70's great memories for sure!

I would have never would have guessed a cardboard fireplace in a million years. A Civil War diary, a bundle of Civil War letters, a Victorian photo album, a scrapbook, or a Revolutionary war uniform, maybe? I’ll keep hoping for a huge box of vintage Halloween.
Vintage Halloween is up there on the list! But yes, a simple cardboard fireplace. Sure, I could have spent $$ and found one on eBay, but there's something about finding it in the trash that makes it that much better!
We had one when I was little in the early 60’s, it had the fake logs that lite up when plugged in! I loved it so! Congrats on finding one, I’d love to find one, show my kids & two grands! Can’t wait to see what is in the bags!

Renee, with your Flea Market and the trash-picking a small pickup would work great for you, like One of those older ' small ' Toyotas or Nissans. I had a " 95 " Nissan I kept for 22 years till last year when with 235K miles... the engine needed work. Had to sell it..I LOVED that truck! Those older small ones drove like a car but you could haul stuff. NONE of the car companies make those small trucks anymore.. their small trucks now are NOT small.
I know you need ' reliable ' transportation of course and those small trucks of years ago most likely will have high miles on them... and may not fall into the ' reliable ' category anymore.
Maybe one will ' find you ' out there... a 1 owner with low miles driven by some Grandmother just to the Supermarket....sort of like finding a cardboard fireplace in the trash...?
I would need something that drives like a car, for sure. My one experience with driving a large box truck was enough for me!
Richard Hill Those small Toyota & Nissan trucks are in hot demand in PA/NJ. When my husband's finally quit after 250,000 it wasn't so much the engine but the rust underneath. The tow guy told us a lot of the landscaping guys in town want them.
@@samanthab1923 Not just in PA/NJ Sheila. Over the years If I was working in my yard I would have people driving down my street and they would stop to ask if I would sell it. Here is CA we don't get the rust from the snow and salt on the road. 22 years and mine had NO rust.

If it doent work, unplug it . And take Q tips and Rubbing Alchol and tweezers. Spray the Rubbing Alchol on the inside area and outside. Than use Qtips, to get every single thread, lint, dust, etc out of every place. Than also do the same to the foot pedal, the inside and outside of machine, and the circle on the right. I pick up sewing machines all the time ~! And Camcorders too. they dont work everytime. they just sit for 24 hours and they work. They just get sand, grass etc into them. Good Luck. Sarah Anderson So did we! We lived in a Levitt house when I was little so we used to put our stockings on the banister. Moved to a house with a fire 🔥 place & have lived in one ever since.
That is the coolest cardboard fireplace !!! A friend of mine had that vintage fireplace. I always wanted one. I do have a vintage silver tree 🌲 with a turn wheel. That is just amazing!!! Ralph Lauren was around 90.00. Depends where you get it Macy’s or department stores that price discount places around 40.00. It is shocking the things that can find on the side of the road!!! I like 👍 doing that as well. That dresser was a cute fixer upper.
I think while people are home during this covid virus, you will find many people throwing out things. They are going bat shit crazy and ridding themselves of everything...So happy you are taking complete advantage while being out there..please be safe and strong...binging your videos...

That bag of trials might bring some good money at the flea market. Don't cheat yourself.
You might want to look on the trails to see if they have a makers name on them and look them up on eBay.
You should have grabbed that box of pen and pencils. They can be worth some good money just for one of them.

Looking forward to the other bags of goodies!!!!!! The window candles are a great old fashion Christmas Decoration, not used as much as other symbols of the season are being used today... We had those at my grandmother's house in the 50's and 60's!!!!!!!!!!!!! We as viewers have tied to get your Buddy "Taco" to do what you are doing by going through the bags but he is more interested in the metal and big items!!!! And truly he miss out on a lot unless he is leaving those items for you!!!!!!!!!!!!

So excited you found your fireplace! Soooooo cool. That first heavy trowel you pulled out that was heavy with the wood handle you should keep for yourself. Its vintage for sure and I think I saw a maker's name? Vintage tools always sell. Lots of woodworkers use the hand tools vs new battery powered. They prefer the look they leave. Not sure what's in the bag but I would try and look some of them up before selling them too cheap at the flea market. Just fyi.
The Touch and Sew sewing machine is known among many vintage sewing machine enthusiasts as Touch and Throw. But you may still find a buyer because people associate Singer with Quality. Not so anymore. If a sewing machine is heavy it has metal parts and is more worth reselling. Plastic and plastic gears not worth it. However is you find a little Singer in a carrying case, known as a Featherweight they go for good money. They came in mostly black, some white.
Even if the sewing machine doesn't work, the pedals by themselves sell well on eBay. Grab them if you find them while picking. The pink barbie car you found the other day was a Chevy Bel Air. The pink ones are less common then the aqua ones and sell for a decent money when complete.
