I know I'm way late, but there is a legitimate way to see the rune skip message on the Great Plateau. In Master Mode, there is a chest with 5 bomb arrows in it on the Great Plateau. If you go out of your way to get them first, these can be used to bypass the bomb Shrine puzzle and beat it with out retrieving the bomb runes.
4:08 actually since the Divine Beasts have their own loading zones i believe that you are just seeing what their overworld version of their model looks like.
2:29 This was explained in the commentary mode in Half-Life 2. it's difficult to take a prop from the world and give it to a character model (on in this instance the other way around) so when Link places the sheika slate on the pedestral, there's actually two slates, one in Link's hand and a invisible one on the pedestral. once the animation is played, both slates slide into each other and Links slate is turned invisible and the slate on the pedestral becomes visible. so even if Link doesn't have a sheika slate to place in on the pedestral, the animation will play anyways and turns the slate on the pedestral visible.
Is it really? I guess it explains a /lot/ of things, some games in particular like FFXIV being extremely glaringly obvious, but I didn't realize it was a general 3D animation problem; I thought it was just a clunky part of the engine. TIL I guess
Yeah. I animate in 3d and this is exactly how it goes. The items line up at the exact same location and do a single frame transition where the old one is scaled to zero, and the new one is scaled up to its normal size. In a game, this can also help performance by switching to a model with a lower polygon count.
This is an interesting take on these ideas! More casual audiences wouldn't know of many of these sorts of things and I'm glad to see you doing this man! I recommend doing Paper Mario TTYD! Malleo has found a Palace skip that has allowed for early access to the end of the game. Beyond this, you can do some real funny sequence breaks and get partners like Flavio and Punio permanently.

2:50 in the bomb shrine it's actually extremely easy to get to the end without extracting the rune. You just have to break all the walls with a sledgehammer.
Hey Shesez, can you do a sequence break of Skyward Sword where you show me: 1. What happens if you go around Skyloft the first day out of order. What if we just went straight into the cave as soon as we woke up? Would the bird already be there and would Zelda show up to help us? 2. What happens if we go straight to the next area Zelda's supposed to be in before we complete the quest sequence to get there? Does the game continue like normal or do we need to go back and complete the sequence? What would happen if you go over the wall of rumble to the Temple of Time? Even though the Gate of Time is in a sleeping state, could you just go in and out of the Lanayru Mining Facility entrance to trigger the Ghirahim cutscene? 3. What happens if we glitch forward into the Ancient Cistern without healing Faron, the Water Dragon. When we complete the dungeon is she still there to greet us in her true form? If we go back to her chamber is she still wounded or in her true form? 4. What happens if you use glitches to go over and retrieve the Seedling of Life before even talking to the Thunder Dragon? If you leave and come back with the Fruit of Life will anything be different? 5. What happens if we go into Sky Keep and glitch through to the pedestal where we can change the order of the rooms, but without actually getting the map first? The map is supposed to pop up every time we change the order of the rooms, so what will happen? 6. What if we go straight to Ghirahim in the final fight before killing all the Bokoblins?
This is a great idea and you made some great discoveries. I'd also like to hear about stuff that STOPS you from sequence breaking. Stuff about the plateau void barrier in BOTW (see gymnast86's video), Wind Waker's Hyrule Castle Barrier, etc. The extremes developers go to to stop players from sequence breaking are interesting too.
I feel like Paper Mario: TTYD has been done way too much. We already know that you can replay chapters and enter areas early using in-game glitches. Still, it would be nice to see the game's sequence breaks summarized, and there might be a few things that can't be found without cheats.
if you want to do one of these on paper mario 64 you should collab with Stryder7x he's made like 1000 videos on paper mario glitches and i think if you guys could do a collab to find some more interesting stuff that could be an interesting video. love these videos man keep them going.

Banjo-Kazooie has some anomalies regarding sequence-breaking. It's entirely possible to avoid learning to Fly before accessing Gobi's Valley but even if you do that, three of the four Flight Pads remain usable despite that not normally being the case without the move. But then, if you get to the final fight without the move, the Pad is inactive, rendering the fight un-winnable! (This is only possible in an emulator with cheat codes though, because you need 94/100 Jiggies to get to that room, and more than six Jiggies require flying) Banjo-Tooie circumvented this problem slightly - if you somehow get to the final fight without a required move, Grunty tells you that you need to do more training (and where) before she's willing to let you in to battle her.
I just want to talk about how all of these breaks are possible legitimately: No opening cutscene: Scope Clip through the Shrine Wall (speedrunners use this) No Sheikah Slate: Gather 4 Spirit Orbs through wrongwarping Vah Naboris Entry: Windbombing Early Master Sword: Deloading Lost Woods area I suggest checking out the channel "Kleric," as he goes over all of this in his "Ruin Your Save File" series.
You're philosophy on sequence breaking is the same I have about my school work. I am currently going for my masters in criminal justice and psychology and going for the hardest writing assignments (I love to write) has got me on the dean's list every semester all throughout my associates level and bachelors level in college. I know this might sound crazy to some but those that reach higher will achieve great things. This can be seen with the success of this TH-cam Channel. Hell, I subscribed and I rarely subscribe to anything (people frustrate me when they are complacent in mediocrity). While I may not agree with the game choices (not a big Nintendo fan) I love the channel, direction, and hard work that you surely put into every video. The coding for the camera work has got to be ridiculous and if I understand it (I probably don't) it's individual to each game or series not including different machines with separate conditions.
An idea to improve the series: If there is a way to sequence break during a normal playtrough of the game in question, maybe include a little explanation on how to do so. Otherwise a fantastic idea ! Love to see more !

Really without the para glider in your inventory the death plane is always there and there is not much you can go or do with it as if you touch it you will be brought back to the plateau. And the death plane stretches to just about everywhere in Hyrule and again only goes away if you have the para glider in your inventory.
Chase Esse'el there is a glitch that allows you to skip getting the slate and you can launch yourself off the plateau if you stasis launch a giant door while standing on it before the paraglider so it may be possible in a normal playthrough
I feel like you're forgetting the possibilities. If your going to hack to get to Impa, it would probably be easier to just make her spawn on the plateau in the first place.
Zorua Fox yes, but hyrule is still not loaded properly. If you do the glitch and walk far enough you fall through the ground and get reset back to the great plateau

I'm a big fan (you may remember you liked my comment on the last BotW video when I said I didn't believe the whole map was loaded), and I have some feedback: That Master Sword scene was hilarious! If you can find more stuff like that in games, I'm happy to watch it all. Anytime you find weird character actions or dialogue (i.e. see Paper Mario when you get into South Toad Town early), I want to see it. Great work, and I look forward to more of this new series.
I recall one of my first sequence breaks on a game. The developers had the NPCs say "That's it, I'm off!" if you spoke to them earlier than you should have. xP
I want to see what happens when you try to stop Vah Naboris without Riju and the lightning helmet! If you can deal with the lightning damage (or are immune to it), then you can just ride up to it and shoot bomb arrows at its feet. It's the only Divine Beast that doesn't require you to activate a special sequence with a descendant to approach it. It would be real funny if it did the same cutscene, just without actually loading in Riju.
Proffessional Rambler nope in some areas lightning storms are more common then others ( one area has lightning storms 24/7 while some areas none at all)
Ƭσαƨт I have literally walked ten steps oh a thunderstorm walked back the way I came no storm. So depending on the areas you go to you may never see rain or you may always see rain. For me it was the latter because I kept checking the aforementioned area trying to fight a stalnox.

You can’t under normal gameplay conditions. Unless you’re wearing the gerudo vai outfit, you’ll be thrown out via cutscene trigger. This requires a hack.
This is a brilliant idea for a series - so many games have oddities that occur when breaking sequence, so I'm looking forward to seeing the videos you make!
2:20, no that's when the "sheika slate" is transfered from part of the player model to the pre scriped animation of the pedistol. The raw model and animation for the pedistol contains the slate, it only shows it after a certain point (at which Link's sheika slate will disappear)
For the very first sequence break in the video, where link goes up to the cliffside, it is possible to do this in normal gameplay on the switch as well. First, make a new game. (This won't overwrite your save files, since you actually need them. After you can move, check if you have an Autosave in the Shrine of Resurection or however the fuck you spell that Make sure youhave another save file where you can actually move, and you are near a cliff, any cliff. Load your old save file (where you are near any cliff). Then, walk up to the cliff, click the A button to climb down, and on the first frame of link's animation, click Pause, and load your Shrine of Resurection save file. If you did it right, Link will fall through the ground and respawn on the tip of the cliff. (Where the cutscene is). You will have successfully skipped the Shiekah Slate as well.
I was unsure what this would be like when i heard about it but this is a really great idea. I am excited to see more and im happy this channel is growing!
Great idea for a series! Here's a tidbit about sequence breaking in Xenoblade Chronicles in case you want to do an episode on that: If you go all the way to Bionis' Interior by abusing moonjump to get there without advancing the story, a brief cutscene in Sword Valley is supposed to play but does not since you're going out of order. But the area itself is still loaded, meaning you get warped all the way to the middle of Sword Valley! You can't go any further than Galahad Fortress with just moonjump, however, as you need to ride an elevator down that won't activate at that point in the story. P.S. I'd love if you showed this comment if you end up showing that on an episode!
as soon as i read the new series name i thought "hell YES!" i love this kind of stuff! my first ever (and only so far) sequence break i was able to do was getting the space jump boots early in Metroid Prime.
3:57 You'll have to try harder than that, Shesez. You can fly to any of the Divine Beasts this way using Gliding physics, no need for your infinite jump.
The Rune Messages COULD have been from an earlier idea- like the Divine Beast Dungeons- You would meet the Monk, who would tell you to get the Rune, beat the Shrine, etc.

Hey Shesez. I'm a big fan (you may remember you liked my comment on the last BotW video when I said I didn't believe the whole map was loaded), and I have some feedback:
That Master Sword scene was hilarious! If you can find more stuff like that in games, I'm happy to watch it all. Anytime you find weird character actions or dialogue (i.e. see Paper Mario when you get into South Toad Town early), I want to see it. Great work, and I look forward to more of this new series.

I recall one of my first sequence breaks on a game. The developers had the NPCs say "That's it, I'm off!" if you spoke to them earlier than you should have. xP

If you can deal with the lightning damage (or are immune to it), then you can just ride up to it and shoot bomb arrows at its feet. It's the only Divine Beast that doesn't require you to activate a special sequence with a descendant to approach it.
It would be real funny if it did the same cutscene, just without actually loading in Riju.
So what's up with the weather? the lighting and overcast skies don't happen normally in this game, right?
Proffessional Rambler nope in some areas lightning storms are more common then others ( one area has lightning storms 24/7 while some areas none at all)
He is right though, one minute you think you won't die from lightning, and a few minutes later, you do.
Ƭσαƨт I have literally walked ten steps oh a thunderstorm walked back the way I came no storm. So depending on the areas you go to you may never see rain or you may always see rain. For me it was the latter because I kept checking the aforementioned area trying to fight a stalnox.
After reading the title I had no clue how you would approach the topic, but it turned out really interesting! I like it.

This was an excellent video! I was a little skeptical of how interesting sequence breaking would be in a game like BoTW, but you definitely changed my mind there. I'm looking forward to seeing this series continue!

Great idea for a new show, I really liked what you did with this episode! I totally agree that if you can sequence break a game that seems to have no sequence then the proof-of-concept is there for just about any other game!! Keep it up man!

You can’t under normal gameplay conditions. Unless you’re wearing the gerudo vai outfit, you’ll be thrown out via cutscene trigger. This requires a hack.

2:20, no that's when the "sheika slate" is transfered from part of the player model to the pre scriped animation of the pedistol. The raw model and animation for the pedistol contains the slate, it only shows it after a certain point (at which Link's sheika slate will disappear)
You really *broke* into this one.
For the very first sequence break in the video, where link goes up to the cliffside, it is possible to do this in normal gameplay on the switch as well. First, make a new game. (This won't overwrite your save files, since you actually need them. After you can move, check if you have an Autosave in the Shrine of Resurection or however the fuck you spell that Make sure youhave another save file where you can actually move, and you are near a cliff, any cliff. Load your old save file (where you are near any cliff). Then, walk up to the cliff, click the A button to climb down, and on the first frame of link's animation, click Pause, and load your Shrine of Resurection save file. If you did it right, Link will fall through the ground and respawn on the tip of the cliff. (Where the cutscene is). You will have successfully skipped the Shiekah Slate as well.

Great idea for a series! Here's a tidbit about sequence breaking in Xenoblade Chronicles in case you want to do an episode on that:
If you go all the way to Bionis' Interior by abusing moonjump to get there without advancing the story, a brief cutscene in Sword Valley is supposed to play but does not since you're going out of order. But the area itself is still loaded, meaning you get warped all the way to the middle of Sword Valley!
You can't go any further than Galahad Fortress with just moonjump, however, as you need to ride an elevator down that won't activate at that point in the story.

as soon as i read the new series name i thought "hell YES!" i love this kind of stuff! my first ever (and only so far) sequence break i was able to do was getting the space jump boots early in Metroid Prime.

3:57 You'll have to try harder than that, Shesez. You can fly to any of the Divine Beasts this way using Gliding physics, no need for your infinite jump.
The Rune Messages COULD have been from an earlier idea- like the Divine Beast Dungeons-
You would meet the Monk, who would tell you to get the Rune, beat the Shrine, etc.
This feels like a natural companion to Boundary Break. Looking forward to more episodes!
