If it makes it to the US, just wait for dealers to mark it up 3x over msrp because of "demand" and "supply chain shortages"
Yep it's a scam here in the USA.,
Unable to sell in the US, it would never pass US safety requirements.

Toyota is looking like absolute geniuses with the hybrids not only do they get ridiculous mileage, but their performance is really good
Yes and they’re very profitable because they’ve perfected the technology over time.
New toyotas quality sucks compared to what it was. I know people who jave bought newer camrys. Even scotty has said toyotas quality isnt what it was...and the tacoma? Please... a mid sized truck built in mexico, so they can build them cheaper and charge more....gtfoh

@@richsweeney1115 agree I wouldn’t buy a Mexican Tacoma either, but Toyota, concentrating on hybrids when all of the car companies went to EV’s was a very smart move, I test drove the Corolla built in Mexico, and it was a piece of crap, then I drove the Corolla hatchback, built in Japan, and it was a completely different car. It’s the SE, and that’s the only Corolla to buy the only problem is trying to squeeze in it and squeeze out.
I want a bare bones small pickup truck that doesn't look like its from the future. I want crank windows and Key ONLY start. I don't want a back up camera - I have MIRRORS.
Only option I want is AC, but they will come standard with it as every other vehicle has.
Me 2. I like to steer the wheel and work the peddles
Well, too bad about no backup camera, because iirc they've been mandatory in the US since like 2019 or something iirc. I believe wholeheartedly that American car companies lobbied for that so foreign manufacturers couldn't compete with cars without LCDs in them
If it looks like a truck and works like a truck, sorry America, you can't have it. Can I interest you in this 4 door luxury grocery getter w/ optional moon roof? 🤠

I live in Florida and drive with my windows down even in the summer in my pickup truck.
Rear abs is a must to prevent the rear from skidding under light load & causing a spin.

You will never see that again, and don’t just blame the manufacturers. Back up cameras, air bags all over, CAFE requirements for mileage and ever tightening emissions. The companies would love to make a simpler vehicle, it would cut their warranty repairs way down. The government has things so complicated to meet everything, reliability is out the window. And when a company figures it out they change the regs. Look what they did to diesels. You couldn’t kill the old ones, the new ones just don’t run. I accidentally found my battery killing draw- The light on the vanity mirror under the visor on the passenger side. The automatic off switch that was activated when the mirror door was closed was broken and the light stayed on even when it was closed. I got in the vehicle at night and noticed a faint glow coming from under the visor on the ceiling. It killed two brand new batteries before I found it. Old school light bulbs, not LED.
I checked the fuses. All good. Then checked the battery saver relay. That was the draw of nearly 7 amp. Check the relays. Save yourself time and effort.
How is a truck available ONLY in Thailand going to kill the Ford Maverick in the U.S.?
Well its not only in thailand, they are planning to release it all over Asia, and might release a NA version
For small pickup truck. Thailand is a primary target. That why
Scotty is still showing blurry pics from his phone. Someone please tell him.
We've tried, over and over.
Using the tread of old tires is called mechanical concrete. Samuel G Bonasso received an innovation award for its development and holds a US patent.
I had the parasitic draw thing happen to me. It was 3 amps! Turned out to be the alternator, it was still charging the battery though. So, for a few weeks, while I looked for a replacement (it's an old car), I just unplugged the alternator whenever we stopped somewhere and plug it back in when we got back to the car. Luckily the plug for it was easily accessible and mounted to a bracket so you could plug and unplug it with one hand. Probably got some strange looks in town and in supermarket car parks, but whatever. It worked well enough.

I live here in Thailand and am seeing these Champs pretty often after the price drop.
Hi Scotty, the reason the 10,000 dollar truck doesn't sell here in the US, is because the tax dollar isn't big enough for the greed of the bureaucrats of this country. The more we pay, the more they get..nothing to do too much about the safety of the vehicle..They could check them and do some adjustments. This is why i drive a 24 year old Toyota Corolla ..Works better than new, and fast as hell, did some work on it, it will now keep up with meany of the new cars. Same 1.8 , you wouldn't believe it. Thank you Scotty, love your vidios...
I purchased a new Tesla Model 3 last year for $29k with the tax break. Great car: no issues, fun to drive, economical.
Thank your neighbors. They paid for your rebate... not that they had a choice! XD
It’s crap that we have to pay to enable this. That should not be legal.
They certainly DO have sides! Look carefully at the pictures of them, the sides are hinged and fold down! That is so much better than the fixed sides we have in north america because you can fit more things.
Back when I was a kid- the Chevy s-10 and ford ranger were the cheapest vehicles you could buy new. And it was awesome. Matter of fact- the golf course I worked at bought a couple because they were cheaper than buying the industrial work golf carts. We need that in the marketplace again. So ridiculous how a ranger is now a big truck that costs 40k
4A at 12V is 50 watts! Get an infrared imager (Flir, Seek, etc.), park the car overnight with a charger hooked up, get up early in the morning and look for a hot part!
The big 3 doesn't like fair competition!! Same thing happened with the Suzuki Samurai ! With Consumer Reports carrying their water !!
A Toyota package director (sets options to put into each trim level) told me stock vehicles 5-10% margin but loaded ones are 30+%. This truck would erode the US pricing model. US manufacturers believe no one wants diesels in small vehicles. Manual transmissions are also out as is 2wd. This truck would smash so many stereotypes.
The driveway.......why not dump the gravel and skip the tires?
I love yah, Scotty. I learn and get get a good laugh. Thank you
Nobody wants to rent EVs because Hertz' charges a huge refueling fee if they're returned with less than 80% charge, people don't want to navigate a sketchy charging network in an unfamiliar location, and there are still no public charging stations at many US airports.
Its been out for awhile. I don't think it can pass our d.o.t., bmv, dmv, epa, road standards.
But it's perfect. Could really use it right now.
The U.S. government is why the cars are getting larger and larger. Large suvs and trucks don’t have to go through the same regulations as smaller cars/sedans. So car companies can make more and skip on safety regulations.
Does it come with a manual transmission?
Nope, i'm not buying any new electric because, they are too expensive. Still driving my 2013 Nissan Leaf until they cut prices in half. I love them. No maintenance. Other than tires wipers and Fluids. Still haven't done brakes yet.
If it comes to New Zealand and I had the money which might soon since I'm bouda do some job searching, I would definitly buy one, maybe with a shell for the bed.
Maybe not so much the US market itself: eg: Supoosedly the US has a 25% tariff on "small trucks" (2 seaters) since the 60s ...
Bolt a $50 chair to the bed and leave it to the consumer to remove it. I bet it would still sell like hotcakes.
That $10,000 Toyota truck sounds great, but could it meet the U.S. safety and emissions standards? I'm sure that has something to do with the price.
I would bet money that it can't pass too much including crash and EPA!
In addition it probably cant go too fast with a mini motor. Stop dreaming and buy the Ford.
Then in true Toyota fashion it would be MSRP $25000 and the dealers will scam another $10k and you are back where you started!!
@@loufaiella3354I'll take the bus over the ford 😂
It can definitely pass emissions lol
No, safety is no problem. But emission might be it. The 2.4 turbo diesel got about 165 hp.
How can those tiny smart cars, miatas and tiny Fiats pass "our" safety standards if this Toyota truck can't? Probably has more to do with the powers at be, i.e. the big 3, paying money to not allow vehicles like this to have to compete with in the states. They would sell really well here in the states and that is the problem. Emissions? If one of our petroleum companies made this truck it most certainly would pass whatever emission "standards" are set in place.
Where and when can I get one I love your programs

I had a 1987 Mitsubishi mighty max manual it was small but a great little reliable truck
EPA won’t let it pass emissions requirements because they have tied emissions to the footprint of a truck. That’s why we don’t have small trucks anymore.
I lived in Thailand recently for three years. And many people own full size pickup trucks just like we do here in the states. Mostly Ford and Toyota .
I wondered about the Hilux on this side of the pond and also wondered, if they were still available, why I no longer see them on the roads now. Well maybe it’s the price, the base spec. 2-seat cab starts at £32,622, (US $41,430), including steel wheels, a radio with CD player and automatic headlights. Rising to £48,634 (US $61,765) for the 4-seat cab, including alloy wheels and painted upper fenders.
Well it might be a nice video perhaps to talk about the real cost, margin and marketing expenses on the car industry
Agreed adjust the valves Scolyfield. Hope I didn't botch your name too bad. Sorry. Valves over time wear tighter giving valve overlap making fuel go through the engine. The O2 sensor sees a ritch mixture and the computer lessens the mixture to get -5 fuel trim. But, big but. On most modern gas engines the valves are not adjustable and do not need to be because they have hydraulic lifters. Check what kind of lifters then do what Scotty says.
Scott, please help. R&R water pump 1988 chrysler Full Size, 5.2 with A/C. When removing had to take off brackets for alt and AC. Probably should have for the power steering pump as well. Bolts rusty so left that one on, hoping to work around it. When pump came off there was a small bracket that came off it seems to have been bolted to bottom 2 water pump bolts. Bracket 2 bolt holes plate bent at a 90° with tubing on the end of plate. I looked for a sensor that might go with it. Found nothing. What is it for does it bend toward engine or away? I lean towards the engine if it is supposed to hold a sensor.

I thought about this before having run a business myself. Every type of business is different when it comes to profit margins. I’d assume you’d want at least a 50% margin when doing something as complicated and resource intensive as building an auto mobile from scratch. I think some vehicles has a wider margin others such as pickup trucks vs sub compacts.
I recently bought a 23’ Nissan Titan pick up for just under 50k. I assume Nissan cost can’t be more than 25k. They sell it to a dealer for 40k then the dealer makes a few grand off me too.
I’m guessing completely.
Hey Scotty! What's your opinion on the Toyota Mirai hydrogen car?
...Scotty said, as thousands and thousands of Maverick buyers wait for their Maverick to be built. I've been waiting just over 7 months for my XLT and just recently got my VIN and build date for the week of April 8.
I bet that $10,000 truck is more dependable that those in the USA. They don't have all that problematic electronic garbage on it.
I own a 2017 Susuki Ignis. It is a Japanese version of a Soul or Mini Cooper. It has a 1000cc engine, automatic, AC, electric doors, windows, mirrors, decent stereo. It cost $12,800 out the door in Indonesia, driven it 6 years, not one rattle or problem. OK, had to replace the round battery on the remote door opener, cost me 50 cents.
You can have all those $70,000 SUV's. I will stick with my trouble free Suzuki. BTW, gas here cost under $2.00 a gallon. Indonesia has its own oil and sells it to its citizens instead of selling it for profit like the USA and OPEC nations.
A small engine mechanic told me it is best to buy a basic mower with a pull start. Models that are self-propelled and have electric start aren't as reliable because they are over complicated and there are many more things that can go wrong. New vehicles have this problem on steroids. I bought a 1992 F150 2WD supercab brand new for $12,580.00. It had a 300 six and a 5 speed manual. Other than routine maintenance I had it for 10 years and had no problems at all. I wish I still had that truck.
I want a direct-to-consumer truck like this. Eff the dealers. Eff the $80K “luxury” garbage that pollutes the markets. Just a well designed, well-running, customizable utility truck.
Import the truck and 15,000 plus tax 5,000 for shipping and import fees still a great deal
You can't import a vehicle not approved for US sale.
Range anxiety and charging anxiety too!..😂
You’re awesome man thank you

The Toyota Champ/IMV-0 has 2 gasoline options and a 2.4 lt diesel and other option like cargo sides for the flat bed. It is a right hand drive for the Asian market, for the Americas we would need the left hand drive. You can actually put a piece of 4x8 plywood flat on its bed which to me makes it a real pickup or small truck.
In the US you can buy a motorcycle and ride it wearing flip flops and no helmut but you can't buy a car without getting $10,000+ worth of "safety" features.
I want one of those little trucks so bad. it is perfect for my needs.
When exactly is this 10K truck going to be on sale here i the USA?
Heat is energy, fire is a good source of energy when it is used in a internal combustion engine.
Toyota looks at the US Market and says, we can afford Tacoma's and Tundra's.
These $10k Champs only have three switches including the ignition. The reason they can't sell in the US is no airbags. There is a reason they are cheaper.
People in America dont have money as well.
Toyota would grab many 💰s if they sold those here in the states.
Yep. No emission control no GPS because they instinctively know how to get to work
Some of the pics I see show the Champ with the sides and back gate folded down for easy loading, Its based on the Hilux, Huhhh id love a Hi lux over a Tacoma.
4 amp draw sounds like the starter wires are touching or corroded causing current that where I would least start point
Hey Scott , would love the champ over here in the UK but doubt if we will ever see it, the truck is so cheap as it is as basic as a 1930’s truck, it has one Sun visor, just a radio etc etc
As long as the radio works, it’s fine. 😂
Thanks for the info Scotty i would buy a hybrid before a total battery only one 😊
From what I have read they don't plan on selling them in the US.
Honda CB motorcycles are 1200USD to 2000USD in Thailand...but no Honda CB in the US is less than $7000 ($8000 out the door).
So don't expect this for less than 30k
The reason cars/trucks cost so much is the market is willing to pay it. It is what they expect to get for it. When will people learn that no sales equals lower prices. Companies can make these vehicles for FAR less than what they charge.
30k after dealer fees
They don't exist in the usa
I've always paid less than sticker for a Toyota, I cant understand why they get bashed on price, then again Id never pay sticker for any car.
@@rbnhd1144 But now you have to pay the advertised price. Take it or leave it.
Regular cheap cars aren't allowed to be sold anymore due to emissions. That's why hybrids are selling like hotcakes it's the next best and cheapest thing without range anxiety.
Just like the kei trucks. You can’t get those in the USA to drive on streets until they’re 25 years old and only 1/2 the states allow them to be registered…
Scotty my 2001 honda accord 2.1ltr I just changed the radiator with a Murray radiator I put everything back together and put a new radiator cap I bought from Honda. The car began to over heat. Then I changed the radiator cap back to the old 13lb cap it had and the problem went away and the car doesn't over heat. I am confused as to what is happening and I want to buy a new cap but I don't know what to get since the ones for this car look like the stock one?
